I believe there were two types of Dermacia. One was sold on television, and made its way to other locations. Reports weren't favorable - chalky, fake looking, etc. The other, Dermacia MD, was a different formula altogether. It had wonderful coverage and provided a luminous glow without fading throughout the day. It was the one recommended by dermatologists post-procedurally.

That formula, Dermacia MD, became Lycogel. Lovelyskin.com carries it. I've purchased it from them and I've been impressed with customer service and responsiveness. I love that Lovelyskin.com offers inexpensive sample sizes so I could test different shades before purchasing too. That was important because I had to blend two colors to get a perfect match.

I'm not certain, but I understand that another company was created by the original inventor of Dermacia MD as well. That product is Oxygenetix, also sold at Lovelyskin.com. I tried it, and while that company's customer service was great, I wasn't as impressed with that product. The colors are not equivilent to Dermacia MD or Lycogel so get sample sizes. Oxygenetix missed the mark for a luminous look (for me). It seemed too dry, and left a flat look. Also, Oxygenetix offers less product, for more money.

Everyone's skin is different, but I'm hooked on Lycogel. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Awesome product! I was able to get 2 foundations for free at http://www.dermaciasite.com. My husband says my skin never looked better. It's smooth and silky. If you apply it quickly the coverage looks great and lasts a long time. When I have an acne break this product helps me cover it and that is why I love this product.

Tried this at CVS with the assist of theie SA. When applied, the coverage sort of looked like what one would expect if they coated their face in calamine lotion (the old pink stuff).. Very mask like, very creepy looking. Poor color match even after mixing 2 colors. But I must say, the stuff stays on. When I got home
I had trouble getting this stuff off even using bar-type hand soap. Had to scrub and scurb and where I have enlaged pores the stuff was still stuck in there.
If you've had a skin caner removed or something like that, it might be good as a small area cover but otherwise gives a deceidedly too un-natural look.

I really wanted to like this product but I ended up returning it. It was difficult to blend and it left my skin looking orange. It was difficult to match my skin tone.

I am surprised by the negative comments. I really like this product alot. Goes on really light and feels like nothing on, and stays on all day! I have to say that I did not buy mine off the infomercial, so mine did not cost 70 or 100 bucks. I only paid 18 plus I had a 3 dollar coupon. I am wondering if the one I picked up at CVS is lighter in texture than the informercial??? Are they the same exact formulation??

It lasts a long time, and when applied lightly, evenly, and with concealer underneath, it can make my skin look pretty close to flawless. I realized that #3 creme is the perfect match for me. I finish up with a tiny bit of oil absorbing powder and I'm good to go for the entire day. I use a tiny dab and blend-you really do not need much at all, and I think the people who said this is too thick may be caking it on. It is easy to blend. I have been getting compliments on my skin, and I never received compliments before. This is coming from someone who did accutane years back, but still has slight scarring. This covers very well, even using small amounts, and when paired with a good concealer.

First off I had and awful experience with the customer service so I would never order/buy from them again... But to be fair about the makeup since that's what I'm reviewing... well... i hated it. There was no coverage for me and it just looked awful on my skin! I saw the commercial and immediately called (I don't think I'd ever don't ever done that before!) But it didn't work for me : (
Oh yeah... and it wasn't cheap either... Even though I ordered the free 30 day trial.. that wasn't cheap either! And one of my bottles was opened already.....

Horrible. This is supposed to improve your skin, but it actually made me break out the next day (maybe this would be better for someone with huge acne problems, my skin is dry/combination and I only occasionally break out). I's weird, because it dried/irritated my skin but at the same time made me break out. And I really don't like how hard it is to remove--even their cleanser didn't take it all off. The problem is it starts to wear off in some spots and look bad but if you try to take it all off you basically can't. Also, the lightest color wasn't the right tone--my skin has a purplish reddish tone, but the foundation has a sort of gray/tan tone even in the very light colors, which is unnatural and many foundations make that mistake. I'm sticking with Bare Escentuals, which actually does keep you me breaking out.

I bought this from CVS with a coupon and it came up to about $18. I absoluetly love the quality and performance of this product. It works great on my very oily skin. It makes my skin flawless and pretty. It covers every thing and provides a natural look. I have got a lot of compliments since I started applying this foundation. I love it and this is a keeper.

I received a sample of this product from my New Beauty Test Tube (it is called the Breathable Camaflage Kit). At first I only used 1 of the 4 colors and did not get a good match but then I decided to mix some colors. I use a sponge and mix 2 light colors for under eye concealer and then the 2 darker colors for my face, the results have been amazing. I also use the moisturizer that came in the packet. I have oily skin and this does not make me break out at all like other products. It leaves my skin looking dewy and I do not have to use any powder. The sample size goes a long way as the product is thick. I think the biggest factor is that it contains silica. It looks to cost about $50. I have not had to order this yet but I think I will try the recommendations here and look for it at CVS first and then decide what I will do after that otherwise I think trying out the different color combinations is the key and skin tone and texture might play a role as well.

I really love this foundation. I was forunate to pick up this foundation for 1/10th of the regular purchase price. I had to mix two colors to get a perfect match. The finish is luminous. I would definitely re-purchase.

Two words: Holy Grail.

That's all I can say. I am so thrilled. And, I got this at CVS for the same price as some crappy CG or Revlon foundation. I have tried everything, from Cle de Peau, to GA, to KA, to brands you can't get here (Kanebo, RMK) to industry brands no one has heard of (Cinema Secrets) to the usual dept. store crapola (Chanel, PX etc) and everything sold at Sephora, and this is hands down, the BEST foundation in terms of: coverage/appearance/sanitary container/forgiving color range/lasting ability that I have ever used.

It does not break me out; turn orange; emphasize my huge pores; pool up in oily streaks or any bad behavior. It covers the recent awful cystic breakout I had, and old scars, while allowing the good parts of my skin to show through- so no mask. And, it does not get oily or feel too siliconey or get itchy. Or disappear by lunch.

I'm running out to get 2 backup bottles before this disappears. I've never tried the $70 version so I have nothing to go on. But, for $18.99, if you are looking for a med-to-full coverage fx that won't break out and covers your pores and nasties, I would really urge you to give it a try. FWIW, I found plain old fingers gives the best application.

Anyone who has tried this product and liked it will be happy to know you can now find it for under $20.00 at your local CVS. I tried this product and the closest thing I could compare it to is Revlon Colorstay. It feels great on the skin, unlike colorstay which felt like a mask. It wears very well, covers great, easily layered for extra coverage where you need it. If you haven't tried it, but would like to, you have nothing to lose with CVS's beauty back guarantee. Try it for a few days and if your not happy with it, bring it back.

THERE IS A LESS EXPENSIVE ALTERNATIVE TO THIS PRODUCT...

PROS:
-Easy and quick to apply
-Gives Maximum Coverage for Acne, Freckles, and Damaged Skin.
-Water resistant as it claims (does not streak or run)
-Does not transfer color easily
-Gives a flawless finish

CONS:
-Expensive at $100 per kit
-Takes 2 wks for delivery
-Minimal color options and they do not offer samples.
-Poor design of containers make it difficult to get to the last 1/3 of the bottle. I've had to cut the top of the bottle off and scrape out the foundation with a knife and put it into a small jar I had left from another foundation.
-Customer Service is notoriously known for being poor (claiming they have not received returned packages, making rude comments, hanging up on customers, over-billing, not contacting customers first for credit card info and instead sending it to a collections company to retrieve the money. ) See further Customer Service Complaints http://www.infomercialscams.com/scams/dermacia_complaints

I am 24 with adult onset acne and oily prone skin so I need MAXIMUM COVERAGE. I used Dermacia for 6 months regaurdless of the expense ($100 per kit/3 month supply), the poor customer service, long delivery time (2 wks) and inability to match my skin color correctly. It gave GREAT COVERAGE and made my skin look FLAWLESS however, the inability to match my color was what really got to me the most. I decided to CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP and find another alternative. I went to the local drug store (Walgreens) with the intentions of buying Mabellines Pure Makeup but ended up picking up Revlons ColorStay with SoftFlex. I looked at the ingredients to compare the two and when I read Revlon contained 7.3% Titanium Dioxide (Dermacias Active Ingredient is 7.0% Titanium Dioxide) I decided to try it. As soon as I got home I applied the Revlon. It was more runny than Dermacia but I applied, and blended it with a foundation brush just the same as I did with Dermacia. I was ECSTATIC WITH THE END RESULTS! It feels the same, it gives the same great coverage, the color matches MUCH BETTER, and it only cost me a whopping $12.29! I should be upset that I have spent HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, fought with customer service, and waited 2 wks per kit but I'm just so happy that I've found something else that works the same at a FRACTION OF THE COST. Dermacia was a great product for me but after experiencing the same results, if not better, with Revlons ColorStay SoftFlex, I realize that Dermacia was a waste of time and aggrivation. I wish I would have known about the Revlon brand sooner.

CONCLUSION: If youre looking for great maximum coverage, or already a Dermacia user, try Revlons ColorStay SoftFlex instead. I assure you, once applied, you will not be able to tell the difference between the two.

I'm really surprised at all of the negative comments on this product. I admit that at first I thought that this product was too thick. But instead of giving up, I played around with it and no I've found an ideal way to apply it. I don't use the concealer brush, but instead I use a regular makeup sponge ($2 pack @ target). This is good for people with oily skin because then it will just melt in your skin. If you have dry skin, it will feel heavy. I love it because its the only makeup that hasn't had a negative effect on my skin. I actually feel like I'm helping my skin when I apply it! All I have to say is its the best free trial I've ever tried and everyone should give it a chance. Its free! What's there to complain about?

This is the foundation some of you may have seen on informercials featuring Rachel Hunter. I tried it on a whim a few months ago and I've been very, very happy with all of the products so far. The makeup evens out my skintone very nicely. It doesn't dry my skin out, which is impressive since my skin is already pretty dry. I really like the cleanser and toner, too. They are very gentle. The makeup is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone in need of a fantastic foundation. Great coverage, not too heavy and good for your skin. Thumbs up!

I heard a lot of bad things about this product...AFTER I placed my order, of course!! I have to say, though, that I was very pleasantly surprised the first time I used this foundation. I have some pretty bad acne scarring that looks really red against my fair skin. I also have breakouts from time to time, so that's why I got this product. The fact that it doesn't clog pores and that it lets oxygen into your skin really sold me. The makeup is great! It totally covers my scars and acne, but it doesn't feel heavy at all. It almost feels like I'm not wearing anything! I just use a little loose powder over it since I can get pretty oily, and I'm set. I don't really care for the brush or the moisturizer, but I'll be sticking with the foundation for sure. Dermacia is definitely the best foundation I've ever used on my crazy skin. :)

AWFUL!

Let's begin with the fact that the product does the exact opposite of what it claims: my skin could not possibly breathe because I was wearing a thick, nasty mask.

I wear quite a bit of makeup, so the complaint of a mask-like appearance is not coming from someone who shies away from heavy makeup. This stuff was like spreading dough on my face.

The packaging is terrible. The bottom of one of the foundation bottles literally fell out, spraying foundation all over my bathroom. Clean up was a pain and I lost a ton of product.

As thick as this stuff is, it didn't cover blemishes at all. I still needed to use my regular concealer.

Don't even get me started on the hefty price tag.

Save your money! This stuff is the absolute worst.

BLAH!! This has to be the worst foundation I have EVER used. I seen the infomercial and thought, "Wow, oxygen...makes sense". This foundation actually feels like it's not allowing my skin to breathe. It feels so thick and mask like, it feels rather odd to me actually. I have tried many foundations, even long wearing thicker consistency kind don't feel as thick and mask like as this one does. Dermacia allows your skin to breathe?...sure, just like applying spackle to your face allows your skin to breathe. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Shipping - it took over a week for them to ship the product although they managed to charge my credit card immediately.

Product - I found the product to be very thick and it only went on smoothly after I put a primer on. Initially the coverage looked even and smooth. However after an hour or two it started to settle in the the small lines and seemed to melt off in other areas. All in all I did not like either the main product or the periphial products.

Returning - I found the personnel helpful and she told me to make a copy of the package listing and to keep a copy of the return number they issued in case there were any issues. She also mentioned I should send the package registered. I did all she recommended and suffered no problems with the return.
