Although I love the formula, the glossy jelly-creme application, this red is too much of a rust/brown for me. NC35, looking for a non blue-red or magenta-red, but this leans too far in the other direction for my taste. It's like a tomato paste color. However, if you want a brick/brownish red it is a fabulous formula.

This is the first Essie nail polish I have purchased after hearing all the good reviews. In the winter and fall I love wearing deep reds and after all mine dried up I decided to see what all the hype was about. Im pretty fair and this looks nice on my skintone. I am on the fence with the brush though its a little smaller compaired to the brushes I usually use I notice that my nail polish doesnt get all over my cuticles which is nice for a change. It took three coats to get the color shown in the bottle which took up some time but I found the application to be only ok. I had to put on thicker coats so the color wouldnt come out steaky and uneven. Although I do like this color it seems to chip easily on me and fade even though I apply a base and top coat.I dont think ill be repurchasing this one I dont particulary like paying 8 dollars for a tiny bottle of polish when there are alot of dupes out there for this color at a cheaper price.

I have very fair skin and love to wear deep reds, especially with fall approaching. This is a gorgeous color. Compliments my skin, and as with all Essie polishes, the shine is fantastic. Very chic and classic looking. My only gripe is that it chips within a day or two, but I have come to expect this with all polishes!

So gorgeous! Jelly shine after a few layers and so classy looking.
I buy fake nails and apply it and it looks sooo nice.

This is a very pretty red color, but I was upset that the color wasn't what I expected it to be. It is very similar to Essie Forever Young in my opinion. They look completely different in the bottle but very similar on me. The staying power is pretty decent.

DDD/NC43

This is another beautiful red creme with a jelly finish from Essie, similar to "Handle With Flair" in terms of the color depth, but without the slight brown tinge that HWF has in sunlight. RtC is a true red that is slightly warm, but not so much that skin with cool undertones wouldn't be able to pull it off. Color-wise, this color isn't unique; it's the glossy jelly finish that makes it special.

This polish, like Essie's other jelly finishes, is not for those days when you're in a rush. The first coat went on as a sheer red-orange, and it took me five thin coats to achieve the bottle color, though all the work was worth it when I saw the end result!

A rich carnelian/brick red creme with a jelly finish. It takes me three coats to get opacity (like the other reviewers, I never get the bottle color), which might be bad news for some folks. The good news is that I can GET three thin coats with Essie (unlike OPI, which is always thick for me). I'm NC15 with very muted coloring and this is an HG red color for me -- red enough to not look orange, but warm and deep enough to flatter my skintone and work with all my brown/olive/rust/red wardrobe.

Rock the Croc is a pretty classy deep red creme to have in anyone's collection. I was disappointed with this color at first - it goes as a neutral to warm red creme on the nails, not nearly as dark as the bottle color. Although this polish goes on smooth, streak free, and opaque in 2 coats, its not nearly as dark as the color in the bottle which looks like an inviting vampy red. So taken at face value, Rock the Croc is gorgeous and a classic red with a great shiny jelly like finish. Just don't expect it to look like the bottle color and you'll be fine.

From Essie's 2006 fall collection, Clutch Me If You Can, Rock the Croc is a gorgeous, deep red creme. I don't know what it is about this particular shade of red, but I find it striking. It's much nicer on the nail than it looks in the bottle, so don't be deceived! It's kind of like Essie's Life of the Party in that there's something indescribably pretty about the colour that I can't pinpoint! A bit maddening, actually.

But anyway, I don't have anything like it and am so surprised at how nice it looks on! It's a very wearable colour and the polish applies wonderfully—it has a jelly-like consistency.
