Although this works well (great hold, no buildup) the smell is *horrible*. All I smell is this hairspray. I went to the gym after work and I had to stop my workout because the smell was nauseating me. As I got warmer and warmer all I could smell was the hairspray.
Besides the awful smell, it works pretty well.

I like this better than Sebastian Shaper hairspray. This hairspray kept my hair in place when driving to another state for job interviews in the July and August humidity! The smell is strong at first and then goes away, it does not ever interfere with my perfume. Once I discovered this I threw out my other hairspray, it has not let me down since discovering it 7 years ago!

OMG This is the worst hairspray IMO! I have thick long hair and this weighed my hair down not to mention the horrible smell. This is worse hairspray I've ever used.

My review is actually for the freezing version of this hairspray..I have fine, thin, flat hair that is very flyaway and I need to use alot of hairspray to keep it under control..the shaping version is much too light for me but the freezing version is perfect..I have used EVERY hairspray on the market and nothing works better than Salon Grafix..it holds all day and never gets flaky or sticky..the smell is "OK"..but not too bad and it does not linger. If you do make a mistake and need to brush it out, it brushes out very easily..I LOVE this hairspray. I get it for less than $5 at a local discount store..unfortunately I think everyone loves this as they are always sold out of the freezing spray. But I always buy extra cans when I do see them..if you are looking for a good hair spray that will really work..try this..you will not be disappointed!

The smell is pungent, but I love how it performs! I usually spray it in before curling iron or flatironing. The shaping spray gives ultra Light hold with no crunch...And it never flakes! And doesn't dry my hair out either. The nice thing about this is...if I put in too much argan oil in my hair...a few sprays of this helps to keep my hair from looking or feeling oily. If you can get pass the scent...It works better than most highend shaping sprays. If I want more hold...I use its sister Freezing Hairspray. It holds very well and brushes out easily. I must buy the Unscented next time. I don't like how these sprays linger and smell strong, so I took a lippy off for that. However, I like this so much I can live through these two cans, but I definitely will buy Unscented next time. I got it at Ulta buy one get one free. Regular price 5.99. I passed this up many times at Walgreens. So glad I gave it a chance!
UPDATE: This works so well for my budget and for my hair... Perfect hold and doesn't dry out or damage my hair! I'm trying to be more budget smart, so I'm going to stick with this because it's works so darn good for me. I had to update because the smell lingers in my hair, and it's starting to annoy me at times. I must must must make sure to get the Unscented one next time! After this hairspray... I can't justify spending $18.00 on a hairspray anymore.
Update: Even the Unscented smells awful. I think I'm going to move on. I don't like breathing in all the chemicals.

*Finally* a good hairspray for the money that doesn't break me out! This stuff has just the right amount of hold for my everyday style - not too flimsy, and not like glue. It doesn't have freakin water as the first ingredient (aka cheap filler) and it isn't fragranced. Many fragrant hairsprays break me out, which eliminates a lot of drugstore brands like Tresemme, Garnier, Herbal Essences, etc. This is also very reasonably priced - about $5. Not bad at all, considering the next step up is around $10. I'll definitely keep repurchasing from here on out.

I have the unscented super hold. To me it smells like an old lady. Like aqua net or something like that. The hold is okay it's just the smell I am not crazy about. Compared to many of the others I have used this is not too expensive. I also picked up the 1.5 oz can for my bag.

I have hair with a lot of attitude, don't want to spend time during the day to fuss with it and need a strong spray to retain my styling efforts. This just didn't work for me

Happy, happy, I am so happy to have found this hairspray! I can't emphasize how frustrated I have been in looking for a replacement for my Sebastian Shaper spray, which worked so well on my fine but abundant hair. But I hated the scent, and the price. I just cannot justify spending $18 on hairspray as a SAHM. I tried many other drugstore brands--Tresemme, Garnier, Pantene, etc. and all let me down. After reading the reviews on the Salon Grafix I figured I would give it a shot. It really is a great dupe of Sebastian Shaper, and it comes in unscented! It goes on nice and dry, gives the same type of hold (soft but holds until you brush it out) and the price cannot be beat. 6.99 instead of 18.99! I'm planning to go back and get another can for the downstairs bathroom and a purse-size one, as well. I may try the Ultra Hold as summer is coming and the humidity is crazy where I live.
The packaging is simple--looks a lot like Sebastian. I wish it wasn't aerosol, but I can't seem to find a good pump spray that works for me. (Paul Mitchell Freeze Spray was the closest and even that was a little too lacquer-y.)
If you are a lover of Sebastian Soft Spray, try this instead--you may be pleasantly surprised at how well it works for 1/3 of the price.

This is my HG hairspray!! I will never go back to regular hairspray again, now that I have found shaping spray. There are other shaping sprays, some that may work even a bit better, but not at this price! Unless you use too much, this never looks like helmet-head and it really can be brushed or finger combed out. It really makes it easy to position and re-position your hair and when you are satisfied, a few extra sprays will keep your hair in place nicely. It doesn't last forever, and if you touch your hair alot, or get it wind-blown or put on a hat or whatever, you will need to reapply, it's meant to be a working spray, not spray glue. I only wish it would deliver more shine.

Not a bad product, I've used can after can of this because I need extreme hold and although I really like more expensive hairsprays, I just can't afford it. I use the one with the most hold, so it does get stiff but what can you expect. My mom uses one with a lesser hold, so that is much easier to brush through and work it. It's a decent price so it's definitely worth a try! A couple of cans that I've bought have clogged in the past, but I've been through so many cans that it doesn't happen often at all.

Since Sebastian Shaper Plus changed, I have been on a quest to find a new HG hairspray. I've tried many. But I think I have found my new HG. I LOVE the Salon Grafix Shaping Hairspray. I bought the one with GREEN writing, extra hold. It provides a good hold, but is not stiff. It brushes out and does not leave any residue. And the price is dirt cheap! I've seen it from $3-$7 per can. Try this hairspray, I think you will like it.

I love my Sebastian Shaper so much that I normally don't think twice when I see its $18.99 price tag - but on this particular trip, I really hesitated. With all the $3 and $20 hairsprays on the market, couldn't there be a good in-between? Enter Salon Grafix, recently featured in Canada's Glow magazine. Between its price point ($7.99) and Shoppers' fairly good return policy, I had nothing to lose.
How delighted was I to discover that this performs just as well as my beloved Sebastian, and at a fraction of the cost. The size is nearly the same (Sebastian is 10.6oz, Salon Grafix is 10oz) and Salon Grafix comes in Unscented, Mega Hold, and Extra Hold. I've not tried the Mega or Extra, but Unscented's hold is comparable to Sebastian's, doesn't leave white spray marks on my dark hair, and doesn't feel crunchy. Great product, and a definite repurchase!

I wear my hair somewhat on the short side. When I blow it dry I can get lots of volume, but if I don't use some kind of hairspray it falls in on itself in no time. In most cases I have found non-aerosol sprays too wet and heavy and most aerosol sprays either didn't seem to have much hold or left me with rock hard hair. In my never-ending quest for something that would really work for me, I found this at Wal-Mart as I was searching the shelves for something I hadn't already tried (according to the Salon Grafix website it's also available at a lot of other retailers). I do believe I have found my HG hairspray. This is an aerosol spray (it also comes in a non-aerosol version) that is on the dry side and gives very good hold without turning my hair into concrete. You can use just a little bit for light hold and more for all day hold. My hair never looks like it's been sprayed no matter how much I use; it just stays the way I want it to for the day. To me the best part is that it brushes and shampoos out easily and completely (even with CO cleansing), so there is no build up at all. At Wal-Mart this retails for under $4 for a 9 ounce can.
