I think some people are confusing it as being a lip plumping formula but in actuality its a nude lip primer for a longer lasting and more vibrant lipstick. I gotta say its one of the most confusing packaging ever. I have very pigmented lips so this primer allows me to have nude or light coloured lips. About it being long lasting i can't tell the difference without it but i do appreciate that it conceals my lips so I'll buy it again. Its quite expensive but I don't regret buying it. TIP: Don't put to much, just enough to lighten your lips and let it dry before applying your lipstick so that it doesn't blend with it.

I heard about this product from a SA at the beauty counter of a rival company, after testing it out a few times I really liked the benefits as my lips are quite pigmented and lipstick never looks as good on as it does on my hand.
Anyway I read reviews here and on YouTube to understand exactly how this product works, it is not really for plumping but a primer.
If you want plumper lips a lip gloss is not the solution you really need to look at fillers. Anyway that's a whole different topic.
My only gripe with my product is that I purchased off ebay and I question if it is genuine as the staying power doesn't seem the same from the tester I used.
Next time I will buy from a dept store to ensure it is genuine because I think this product is great for my lips!!

I apply this product after I have applied my foundation and powder etc so it has time to dry before I use a lipstick and liner over the top. It is a base to your lip products and I would not advise wearing it on it's own.
I apply the beige coloured product using a dabbing technique onto my lips and this looks fine when it's first done but as soon as it begins to dry out it gets a congealed consistency that I have to re-rub in.
Although I bought it hoping for it to plump my lips the most it has done is have a slight tingle/prickling sensation that didn't do much in the way of volumising. I still use the product as a primer but only because I don't want to waste it as it was so expensive, I don't see a need for this in my makeup and I won't be buying again.
****I've added a picture of the product freshly applied to clean dry lips****

Ha nooo.. it says lip plump because the nude colour is supposed to make your lips look bigger and fuller if used on it's own. It has no properties to sting and make it fuller. It's actually a primer that requires you to apply only a few dots and then smooth over the lips. It is a bit drying but when done sparingly under darker lipsticks it gives the lipstick staying power. Which is what you want because darker lipsticks can bleed. You don't really need this product if you already have a lip liner that matches your lipstick - but if lip liners don't give you enough staying power, then this product could work for you. A down side is that it is drying but hopefully your lipstick isn't drying too and if you plan to wear it alone the shade may not look good on everyone.

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? What a horrible product! It does not plump or prime! In fact, it made the lipstick that I would apply over top look all cakey and hightlighted all the lines and grooves in my lips. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

as others have noted, this product is NOT a plumper but it is an awesome lip primer. it gets 5 lippies as a primer, 0 lippies as a plumper. i never cared or worried about lip primer but in an era of digital pics being snapped all the time i like to have my lipstick/lipgloss on at all times. when i wear this lip products definitely last longer. i only need a little bit, very little. it dries light colored but really holds the color, even glosses longer. A+ to the developer of this primer and it's packaging, D to the person who named it. don't let that stop you from buying it though because it will up your lip game. that said, if you want a trip plumper i've found lip fusion to be the best. they're spendy but good. sally hansen has some decent ones that are cheaper and not as great in the color department. i also think there are some little facial exercises you can do to plump the lips (temporarily). keeping them moisturized and not cracked or dry is also a big help.

This is my make up must have and i cant believe that it has had such a poor review! It looks great on its own, kinda like a nude lipstick, or under a colour to make it last longer! I totally love it!!!!

I think all the negative reviews have to do with the slightly misleading name of 'plump'. What this product does NOT do is plump your lips. HOWEVER clearly on the side it does say its a lip primer. And at that it REALLY DOES A GREAT JOB.
I have darkly pigmented lips, very deep berry coloured and pale skin. I find concealer/foundation just dries them out however. This does the opposite I found it moisturizing and once dried, I slicked my lippie on and it stayed put all day. The price is a bit much (as all Benefit cosmetics are), and the packacging is rather lackluster. But overall, a great product

I am the benefit queen! So much then I walk over to the benefit counter in Debenhams they are beginning to remember my name! Now I am also obsessed with plumpers! I went into benefit and asked them for something that would plump my lips and was sold this. It did not plump my lips, it is more of a primer before putting lipstick/lipliner on. I was very upset with being sold this product as I paid money for it and it did not do what it said it didn’t on the tube! PLUMP!!
If you want a good lip plumper hold your pennies or cents and buy the Lipfusion XL! Best product out there at the moment for lip plumping! And I have tried them all!

NC42 MAC/ Honey in Bobbi Brown Indian Asian skin.
This lip primer does an excellent job of giving a neutral layer to lips. I have heavily pigmented lips, so i dab 3 or 4 small dots on lips, rub with fingers allover and wait for a minute. All lipstick colours come on perfectly after that and stay on longer too. Since it neutralizes lip colour to your skin colour practically you can recreate your lip line thus making them look bigger, smaller or whatever floats your boat;)

I am on my third tube of this product, have been using it off and on for nearly 7 years. I just came back to it after a few years off and I am wondering why did I ever stopped using it?! When used AS DIRECTED, it makes a nice soothing coating on your lips that makes your lip liner and lipstick look awesome and last forever (all day, even through lunch and a dinner as long as it's not super greasy). And yes, it does make your lips look plumper, but this is due to its ability to erase your natural lip line and enable you to 'fudge' it with much better results than with any other primer I have tried. And it keeps my lips feeling moisturized, whereas using a concealer not formulated for lips leave my lips feeling dry.
Currently I am into matte lipsticks and this is the perfect antidote to the dryness that sometimes results from matte lipsticks.

I am aware that this product is not a plumper but I think that the name Lip Plump is very misleading.
I'm sure it's brilliant as a concealer on ladies with very pigmented lips but for me I found it a rather useless addition to my make-up collection as I have relatively pale lips and, if I do ever want to make my lips look paler before gloss or lipstick, I just use a dab of ordinary concealer.

First of all, I DO agree with others that the name of this product can be misleading for those who buy it without researching it first. However, if you have done your research, then you should know what the purpose of the product is. That being said, I am VERY happy with this product! I have somewhat fair skin with moderately pigmented lips. Because of this, I usually want to lighten up my lips a bit. This product is perfect for doing just that.
I apply it like so: I lightly exfoliate my lips, then I put on a small amount of chapstick & let it sink in while I apply my other makeup. Next, I put a couple of dabs of the product on both my upper and lower lip and then LIGHTLY spread it out across my lips using the wand and my finger. As it starts to dry, I use my finger to dab it in. After I let it dry for about 3 minutes, I apply lipstick on top, and I am done! I have fallen in love with this product and I will continue to repurchase. If you are NOT looking for a lip primer and/or a concealer-type product to help lighten your natural lip tone, this product is definitely not for you. Do your research first!! :)

WOW, you women are so ridiculous and quick to judge. This is NOT a plumper gloss, and if you thought for a second that Benefit made this to be that, than you should consider yourself a newbie in the makeup world... its a concealer meant for those with very pigmented lips. The "plump" factor comes from the fact that it is meant to substitute for a lip liner, which is exactly what it does. I have really pigmented lips, and lipsticks have always looked terrible because they never come out to the proper color. Lip liners do not work because the outside of my lips still shows through the liner... but this stuff is amazing.
INSTRUCTIONS: take the wand and dab 4 small dots, 2 on the upper and 2 on the lower. Pat and smooth evenly on lips and wait 60 seconds before applying lip color. This is so much more natural and not as gross looking as using actual concealer on the lips. With this invention, I can now wear any color I desire quickly, without the mess. AND it makes the lipstick stick and last FOREVER! I will never use lip liners again, and can now shop for lip colors without having to worry about my overly pigment lips.
THANK YOU BENEFIT!

Ugh. Coats your lips in a very weird goo of concealor-like stuff. Very odd product, can't think how it can work. Got this years ago, but never got beyond the 1st try.

Ok, so first, 3 out of 5 lippies, cause I just tried it today!
SECONDLY.....good God people, THIS IS NOT A PLUMPER!!!
Stop thinking it is, ask questions before you buy a product and you wont be so disappointed.
It works as a primer or concealer of redness on your lips, so that when you buy a lipstick or gloww, it will go on your lips in the same shade it was meant to be. I have red Angelina Jolie lips (not what it's cracked up to be) and I think this product is a God-sent, cause I cannot do a nude lip to save my soul. Everything comes out red, red, red!
Try it for the purpose it's meant for and you'll like it! ps: let it dry first before putting on a lipstick and/or gloss.
UPDATE: December 18th/2011: stopped using it cause it shows off every flake on your lips. yuck
