Love the colors in this palette. The shadows are highly pigmented and all have very unique colors, this one is no exception filled with wine and rose pink colored shades.

If I ran out would definitely repurchase. Would really like to buy a few of her other palettes.

Why isn't this amazing lady with her crazy good products available at Sephora? Its a shame since because of that I often forget to look at her products and end up picking out something much less wonderful.

I love this product for a few reasons:

1) It's a no-brainer. Everything is there (base, light shadow, crease, and a dark color that can be used as shadow liner). If I'm going away for the weekend, I just throw this in my cosmetics case and all my shadows are there in one compact!

2) It lasts all day. The palette comes with a primer to make sure it stays in place (which I've used before, but I'm a loyal gal to my Too Faced Shadow Insurance). I put this on in the morning before work, and when I come home at 5, they look just as nice!

3) The colors are to die for. I have brown eyes and they are just gorgeous shades of wine that make brown eyes pop. I also gave this to my green-eyed friend for her birthday and it looks great on her too. The coverage is also very buildable, so the sky's the limit to how smokey you want to take it. What's great about this is that I can do something minimal for the work day, but I can also take it to the next level at night and go for an ultra-vampy, smokey look.

The kit is about $40, but I think it's a decent price to pay for 3 shadows, a primer, and an eyeliner pencil (which is also nice, not my favorite pencil, but a good pencil nonetheless). Plus, it all comes in a gorgeous compact with a large mirror that I will probably keep even long after the product is gone.

Mally shadows are very smooth and well pigmented. This set goes especially well with my skin tone and the colors are a great alternative to the neutrals/browns I usually wear to work. I will definitely repurchase.

I was at the Mally counter at Bendels and the SA begged to put this on my brown eyes. I love to play so I let her have fun. I for one was skeptical because I don't like burgandy or reddish colors but I couldn't be more wrong. When she handed me the mirror I was shocked and very happy. I have amond shaped eyes with slightly hooded eye lids and she applied the highlighter shade all over the lid, with the middle shade on the outer "v" for a smokier look she said to apply the darkest shade on top and on the outer corner. The look was hot and different from any other colors I have in my collection. I made the purchase.

Okay for starters I typically HATE purple-toned products upon my eyes. I'm a pretty warm-toned tanned Asian so I feel like a great many colors/products that look fabulous on Caucasian women look like a bucketful of fail on my face. Anyway, I was able to purchase this off livejournal for fairly cheap and I had been wanting to try Mally's smokey eye palette and Midtown Merlot was what was available. I can't comment on the base because I'm a hardcore Urban Decay Primer Potion devotee and you'd have to threaten to kill all my loved ones in order to convince me to stray . . . So I basically followed the "directions" at the bottom of the palette, except I don't really have a "crease" so I just did the outer corners with the darkest shade and feigned a tiny little crease halfway in. I found these eyeshadows pretty decent to blend and smooth into one another. The lid shade is of medium pigmentation, I guess it's the most like "merlot?" so you can easily build it up for more intensity. The darkest shade is just plain ole pigmented - a deep marooned plum color - so please do be mindful to apply with a light hand and build up for more smokiness. I thought the highlighting shade would be disastrous because it looks so chunky in the palette. Applied it does have a bit of discernible glittery bits - which I don't prefer when it comes to my highlighter shades, but it wasn't "frosty" and it could be blended sheer enough to not detract from the smoky eye look and segue into "drag queen" territory. Anyway the first time I wore this palette I didn't really feel that hot, but I was complimented several times at a house party I attended. I assumed they were all just being polite and sweet . . . So I wore it again recently and at least 4 people at school demanded to know what I used on my eyes. Then my SO, who of course is typically complimentary about my make up because he knows I'm a little obsessed, was bowled over with the look. Apparently he thinks purples suit me well and it's one of his most favorite looks thus far . . . So I guess this palette and I will be friends for awhile since apparently my purple hatred is unfounded. Oh I pair this with a cool, light fluster colored blush and clear lip gloss. I think this usually comes with a brush, but I didn't receive it through the LJ sale.

I have fair skin with yellow undertones, dark blond hair and green/hazel eyes, and while the Plum Chelsea eyeshadow kit is very flattering for my coloring I find that Midtown Merlot is quite the opposite. For some reason these shades look exactly like the color of bruises on my skin and don't work for me. However, as always, the packaging is absolutely perfect, and the eyeshadow base works very well to make the shadows last all day. I love Mally products, especially her eye shadow kits that include the base and shadows in one container, and this won't stop me from trying others.

So far I am disappointed in these. This is not the type of smokey eye that does any favors for my face shape. And the Midtown Merlot provides color that is too subtle to be noticed on my skin. Not enough contrast. Back it goes.

these colors are so pretty I like it better than the plums, the plums are more vibrant, the merlot is more neutral. It last all day. The quality of the case and shadows is great. I love all mally products. Very high quality. I have brown eyes and these colors look really nice on my eyes

Let me start with the cream to powder base first. The base in the Merlot kit appears slightly lighter than the base in the other e/s kits which is a little bit darker tan shade. I actually like the lighter primer anyway as it's not as orangey in this kit as the others. The highlighter shade in this kit is very similar to the highlighter shade in the Plum Chelsea kit - sort of a peach toned Champagne, however the one in the Merlot kit goes on more smooth than the one in the Plum kit. Now, the Middle/lid shade...very different from the plum kit. The one in the Plum kit is a true purple - think Barney the Dinosaur (sorry for the image, but that shade of purple is the Shade in Plum Chelsea); The Middle/lid shade in the Merlot kit is exactly that....Merlot/Chianti shade -not too red, not pink...there is a hint of brown in them which is the key to not having that pink eye look. The Deep shade in the Plum kit is an Amethyst shade, while the the deepest shade in the Merlot kit is a very deeper shade of Merlot w/hint of brown in it. I love both, but now that I have both...I would get more use out of the Merlot kit becuase you can wear these shades with almost any outfit/coloring, whereas the Plum Chelsea is more wearable for Plums/Pinks only. Hope this helps!
