Full disclosure - I love Jo Malone scents and have more of them than I can count. But somehow I'd never tried this one. I passed through Nordstrom the other day, sampled it and liked it, and promptly bought it using some Nordstrom notes :). It's beautiful. Not too gourmand-y, and it LASTS, which all of her fragrances do not on me. It's kind of powdery and dry, but interesting. I've combined it with Vetiver which I like, but I also like it on its own.
One thing I have noticed (have others?) is that it seems to combine better with my chemistry on my wrists than on my neck. For some reason (body heat?) some heavier scents seem too "full" when I spray them on my neck. But I can wear them on my wrists or inside my elbow.
Anyway, I am now in love with this fragrance! Give it a try.

I'm a Jo Malone fanatic. :D
I wish I had a more sophisticated nose. I don't. So I can only tell you that this is very pretty. It doesn't not smell gourmand to me. I combine it often with my favorite scent (Nectarine Blossom and Honey)
It is very unique scent. I've bought a few bottles since I wear it often with my NB&H.
I'd recommend :)

I got this as a gift a couple of years ago, and I am so-and-so about it.
On one hand, it brings to my mind a Christmas night, warm and cozy in front of a fireplace, very sweet and comforting and makes me very happy to smell it.
On the other hand, the moment I put this on it smells like having a can of coca-cola (which I HATE) under my nose! I think it's the lime in it. Yuck! And this smell continues and continues and continues.... I have to train my mind not to pay attention for the first 15 minutes. But then it turns into this heavenly sweet perfume I described above and this stays for the next 2-3 hours. After that it disappears.
I almost always wear this now, just for those 2-3 hours I get to sniff it and for an indescribable sweetly smell it leaves on my clothes. Other than that, nothing special.
I would not repurchase. First of all, I find it very so-and-so, with not good staying power. Also the container is huge, which means I will have to wear this A LOT in order to finish it and by the time I do so I will probably be tired of it.
The quality of the bottle is great! My iguana knocked this over from my boudoir to the marble floor and although the cap shattered, the glass came out unscratched. Good for him!
Price-wise it is no more expensive than I would have expected, but I do not think I would ever be willing to pay 100+Euro for this big container. So I would not buy again.

I love it. I wish it lasted longer on my skin. This is a light, fresh yet decadent fragrance. Cocoa with the light sweetness of blue agave nectar.
If I'm not sure I want to wear a fragrance, this is what I wear. That might sound odd. But it wears of much more quickly than some of my other regulars (L'Artisan's Tea for Two, for example). So it feels like "no commitment" just a brief spritz of heavenly mist.
I sometimes spray this over my hair, but I know I shouldn't do that due to the alcohol potentially drying my hair out. This is my favorite fragrance by Jo Malone. I also enjoy the fig fragrance by this company. Packaging is wonderful.
Peace,
NC

I absolutely adore this fragrance and it is a staple in my perfume wardrobe. Jo Malone is one of the pioneers in fragrance combining, and I personally combine this with the vintage gardenia, for a totally feminine and ladyike sent with a twist. It is the perfect scent for day to day use, and lasts all day. When I first started using Jo Malone I was questioning the prices, it is a bit more money than some, but it is worth every penny, the Jo Malone fragrances are amazing and you will always be able to come up with your own signature scent, and the bottles look elegant on my vanity, I will buy over and over again

I tried it on once and found it unremarkable, especially since I couldn't detect any of the Cacao that's in its name. However, a cousin of mine fell in love with it and swore I must have tested the wrong perfume because she found the cocoa very strong in this. So, I tried it again and once more, no cocoa for me. Obviously, it's a skin chemistry thing that completely drowns the cocoa on me and brings it out in others. On my skin this is a very soapy, clean scent that reminds me of a washing machine detergent. Not bad, but certainly not what I'm looking for in a fragrance. Try before you buy.

Bought this on my trip to Italy during the summer of 2010, and unfortunately it broke in the suitcase by the time I went back home. Was quite disappointed because it smelled amazing! I was able to find a Jo Malone store and purchased it! It may be a strong scent for the first minute, but it eventually goes away to a nice, soft and delicate fragrance with a tinge of vanilla. It also sticks on to clothes and smells amazing even when the scent is dying away. As it is spring now (well more like summer here) I realized I had stopped using it and returned to it today. When ever I smell it, I think of snow and snowflakes and Christmas for some reason, it is like a wintery type of perfume to me (well...it reminds me of the winter), but that doesn't mean I won't stop using it! Fantabulous!

I love this fragrance. I have tried a lot of different scents and I bought perfumes that cost 200 and up to drug store brands, but Jo Malone to me is so worth the price. They are very feminine and well rounded. I also own this in the body cream which is incredible, very moisturizing and lasts all day. I am not sure exactly what Blue Agava smells like by itself but mixed with the Cacao it's beautiful and has a undertones of vanilla but not to sweet. Highly recommended.

My experience with this fragrance just reminded me again that body chemistry and our individual olfactory senses play a big part in our perception of a fragrance. I had heard nothing but good things about this fragrance so I was not expecting the smell of 1960’s Aqua-Net aerosol hair spray from a can and my allergic reaction. I could not smell the cacao at all. I did get a whiff of Ocean Salt and Lime but nothing else. I thought perhaps the bottle had gone bad so I went into Neiman Marcus and tried it there. That time I got cocoa but mostly it was the same experience as before. My DH didn’t get the cacao or hairspray that I got but found it inoffensive. Next!

This fragrance is fabulous on its own, but I just tried it layered with Perfect Veil fragrance oil as a base. One word, WOW! Im terrible at describing scents. One thing I can say is that is long lasting. Neither scent has a very strong sillage, but it does linger and I keep smelling it all day. If Jo Malone has a body cream in this scent, I must buy it!

I have a small 9ml bottle of Blue Algava & Cacao, that came in a Jo Malone set. As a lover of citrus and chypre fragrances I have always liked Jo malone, as citrus is featured prominantly in most of her scents.
Blue Algava and Cacao was one that I never really considered as I'm not a vanilla fan. None the less I wore it a few times and have discovered I quite like it. More importantly out o fthe 100 odd perfumes I have in my collection, this is one of a few that actually last on me, in fact I can smell this even after a shower! I noticed in the base notes there is something called Chypre Cocoa, which I've never heard of, along with vetyver and cinnamon which keep the vanilla from turning sickly sweet.
As I change fragrances frequently (looking for my HG), if I ever finish my small bottle I would definitely get a full size.

An initially strong scent on my skin that mellows pretty quickly to reveal the loveliest cacao I have ever smellt. I don't know what blue agave smells like but the cacao is there for me right from the beginning. Unfortunately it is mixed with what I think is a red berry note and together, they create a chocolate teacake impression on my skin. It's a pinkish, sheer smell and if I close my eyes, I can almost see the hundreds and thousands (sprinkles?). I would not prefer this opening but can handle it because the fragrance softens in around fifteen minutes. The rest is a cacao heaven for me. It smells mature and delicious to my nose just like some high quality make-up or my mother's skin when she is tanned. To me, this is more than a comfort smell and I think of deep V necks in earth and jewel colours like in a Renaissance setting. I have a small bottle that will finish rather quickly if I go with this pace, and perhaps I might buy it again. The search for soft cacao with more sillage and lasting power, however, continues.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........................it's warm, creamy and all-around lovely. If it were a sweater it'd be a cozy, cream-colored cashmere turtleneck. Long lasting but not at all cloying. Couldn't be better.

I love this fragrance! I'm rubbish at working out the different notes in a fragrance so can't help much there but I think it's a sexy scent that works both day and night. When I first spritz the chocolate scent can be a little bit overpowering but this dies down within 60 seconds and I'm left with an unusual warm yet light perfume.
Packaging, as usual with Jo Malone, is very classic and elegent, looks beautiful on display!
Although fairly pricey I would purchase again as I've never found a scent like it. Oh and lasting power is great!

From Basenotes.net: Top Notes: Grapefruit, Birgaradia, Red Berry, Lime Oil. Middle Notes: Cacao Seed, Agava. Base Notes: Vetiver, Vanilla, Musk, Cinnamon. This is my favorite of the Jo Malones. I absolutely adore the cocoa note!!! I can definitely make out cinnamon, too. The fragrance is balanced with citrus to keep it from smelling too much like a cookie. Blue Agava & Cacao layers well with many of Jo's other fragrances, but is delicious when worn alone. In my opinion, it's the most unique scent she has in her line. I have had other perfumes with chocolate notes in the past. I like Bond No.9's So New York, however that is a more powdery chocolate scent than this. I also have had Angel but I much prefer Blue Agava and Cacao to Angel. Jo's Blue lasts fairly well although I think Indult fragrances have better staying power (probably a higher concentration of oils). I imagine using Blue Agava lotion and cologne together would increase longevity but then of course you are buying more products. I definitely recommend if you are into gourmand fragrances, especially if you enjoy the cocoa note as much as I do.

this is a sophisticated kind of delicious...
like powdery caramel, but soft and well-balanced...
i am not fond of citrusy and old-fashioned florals.. and this one is neither...
the whole process from spritz to drydown is heavenly...
love...

When I first tried JM's fragrances, they lasted barely 10 minutes on me. Enter Blue Agava and Cacao. Love this rich, long-lasting, oriental scent that has a hint of chocolate. Perfect for those cool spring and fall days.

I love this! I got a sample of it at Saks when I asked the woman at the counter for something sweet but still sexy.. Couldn't have been more spot on! It's really sweet and alluring, but in a mature way, not in a sickeningly sweet way, which I find is the case when something like Flowerbomb is worn too often. I can't wait to purchase a full bottle!.. 4 lippies for price because I'm just a poor college student who is tired of smelling like all the other girls on campus.
