I swear by Lancome Hypnose Drama. I have noticed the formula is good but truly the brush is what does it all. After I ran out of this expensive mascara (multiple times now as I tend to repurchase what works), I have even proceeded to dip this lancome brush into formulas of bonus mascara's I receive from Clinique. Works almost similar!
However, I wanted to find a cheaper alternative. Been on the hunt everywhere and honestly this Doll Eye Volume Mascara does the trick. It ran out quite quickly though.. after less than 2 months but it was a whopping $9 which is a-ok for me. It wasn't exact like Lancome obviously but it lifted my short eyelashes just the same and had that consistency to keep them in place. No smudging, no problems with your usual drugstore mascaras.. Sometimes I still use my Lancome Hypnose Drama brush in this NYX Doll Eye formula - now that's a great combo! This is on the days I want a little more umph.
I would get the NYX Doll Eye Mascara - Volume again. It does it's job and it's cheap. This is coming from a girl who needs mascara daily or will surrender to fake individual lashes without the right one. Also to note, it's a little less clumpy than the Hypnose one. You can get away with coating again in the middle of the day if necessary.

I got this mascara after reading all the good reviews and ended up being disappointed.
I was looking for a good substitution of my fav Maybelline Colossal, because it flakes and in that regard NYX is certainly better, because it didn`t flake or smudge on me, but I wasn`t very excited about the wand, dry formula and an outcome, which is not anything special. I mean my lashes didn`t end up looking particularly thick or long. They were ok. I would say 3.5 out of 5 for the effect it gives.
What I really didn`t like about it is that when wearing this mascara my eyes felt extremely heavy and tired (and no, I didn`t put too much on). I can`t say that my eyes are very sensitive, but they surely didn`t like this formula, because I couldn`t wait to get home and take my makeup off. As soon as I did, that heavy feeling was gone. I don`t get such problem with a lot of mascaras.
Search for a better one continues.

I have to say I'm disappointed :/ I read ALOT of reviews on this mascara many of which were good, but it just didn't do the trick for me ...now it's not a horrible mascara it's ok but it did not give me that "doll eye" look it gave more of a natural defined lash look which is not bad but I like my lashes full and with length ..will not purchase again I'm sticking with my Mary Kate lengthening mascara now that does wonders ..only bad thing is that it's very dry making it a bit hard to remove but it's worth the hassle

I was blessed with long, thick black lashes; I only use this when I want real drama or when wearing a green eye look to create a "break" between my eye color and the e/s - I think it keeps the look from being monotonous, somehow. This mascara really delivers on the volume, but it does seem to give a length boost as well. The brush is great for getting at those tiny inner and outer corner lashes without poking myself in the eye. The consistency is creamy, but a little thin - I have to try really hard not to blink for about 20 seconds until it dries enough not to end up in my undereye bags, lol. It isn't waterproof, but is fairly smudgeproof once dry (more so than UD Skyscraper)

i actually really like this, it thickens and gives volume to my lashes, which is great and whats even better, its easy to remove since i hate using oily makeup remover.
the only thing that i dont like is the packaging, it looks cheap and all, but i dont care haha :P

My HG mascara! Just amazing results. Most mascaras work great for me anyways because I already have very thick lashes but this stuff makes my lashes look fake with just ONE coat! Will buy this forever if NYX doesnt discontinue it!

Maybe it isn't for everyone, but for me, this mascara is perfection. I have blonde lashes, not very thick -- I want more than the "natural" look, but definitely don't want to look like I'm wearing falsies. My criteria are enhanced eyelashes, no clumping, and most importantly, no smudging or flaking. NYX Doll Eye mascara - both Volume and Long Lash - fits the bill. The one drawback is that I find application somewhat messy, and maybe a little time-consuming. Maybe I'm just not very coordinated, but I always get this mascara on my eyelids when I apply it. But it's nothing a cotton swab can't fix, and I'll take that over skanky looking lashes or raccoon-eyes any day!

Holy crap! I thought no mascara could compare to Maybelline The Colossal but this does!
Price: ~$9
Length: super
Volume: thick, non clumpy
Formula: dry-ish
It's not even waterproof yet it stays on without smudging all freaking day. And the best part is that you get long and lush lashes with two quick coats. Unlike Maybelline's Volum Epxress line, you don't need to dry it overnight or anything :)

Love this mascara. When I first got it I thought I got an old tube because the formula is quite dry. It takes getting used to but it's just the formula.
I have straight, barely there lashes and this does a great job of providing curl, volume and length. The brush is not too big, a perfect size for my Asian, almond eyes. Again, the formula is dryer than I'm used to but it's pretty buildable. I swipe on about 4-5 coats and it really darkens and lengthens my lashes without clumping or weighing them down. No worries with smudges throughout the day either.
Love it and would repurchase!

I really enjoy this product. It took a bit of getting used to as the formula is extremely dry- much more so than any other mascara I have ever used. However, once I learned how to use it I was getting absolutely incredible results. My lashes are lengthened, curled, and best of all the mascara stays all day.

I was really excited about this mascara after reading all the good reviews, but it didn't turn out to be as good as I was hoping. The biggest problem is that IT WEIGHS DOWN my lashes, which is the most annoying thing for me. I don't have natural curvy eyelashes like some girls do, so I have to curl my lashes and hope that my mascara will hold the curve. That's the most important thing in a mascara I think, the ability to hold up lashes, not to weigh them down. NYX doll eye mascara does give my lashes volume and my lashes look fuller, but I just can't deal with the fact that my lashes are pointing down after applying this mascara. I'm very disappointed, but I do think if you have curvy eyelashes, this can be good for you. It's very black, and it does add volume. As for Asian girls with fine and straight down lashes like me, I would not recommend.

This is a fantastic drugstore mascara. I cannot rave about it enough!
PROS:
This mascara is completely clump-free. I did one pump and then kept working with my lashes for at least 5 minutes. No clumps, no flakes.
The brush gets every single lash.
No smudging or flakes on my face hours later.
CHEAP! I paid $6.99. Money well spent.
No awful smell. I cannot tell you how many mascaras I've thrown out because they stunk.
CONS:
Not much product in the tube. For $6.99, that would be obvious.
I would definitely repurchase. Don't know if I would call this product my HG mascara, but it's pretty close.

I love this mascara! Its my favorite and I buy it all the time. It thickens but doesn't clump, and lenghtens really well. I find it keep my lashes seperate and doesn't rub off easily. It gets better after a week or so of use too, though it does dry out quickly though.

I like this mascara but I'm not too crazy about it but after using the new Bourjois Glamour mascara I will keep using it since it not as difficult to remove and I don't have to tug so hard to get it off. Also I like how it give me a Doll like eye look.

This is my very first review, but I'm compelled to write one after using this mascara. I've been on a drugstore mascara hunt for years and finally found my favorite one! This product is wonderful! It lasts all day, and even though my tube doesn't say 'waterproof' it does appear to be waterproof. I've done an hour long workout and taken a shower and it didn't smudge at all, I had to use actual makeup remover to remove it.
It lengthens and volumizes with no clumping. The only one that is comparable would be Maybelline's Full N' Soft (which was my HG for years.) I think I like this one just a slightly bit more!

This mascara is freakin' amazing. It stays put on your lashes for the whole day. It's pretty tough to take off x) Volumizes your lashes wonderfully, along with lengthening them. The brush is really cute, kinda like an hourglass figure, I guess. But It's $10, and it's a drugstore brand. pretty expensive. Other than that, this is my FAVORITE mascara!!

i really really like this mascara. the formula is very very dry which is pretty nice and it does not clump at all and if it does then its pretty easy to separate. i already have long thick curly lashes but i still curl them just for a little oomph but the problem with my lashes is that they do not like to separate. they stick together very easily even when they dont have anything on them. so this mascara separates them very nicely and the brush is probably my favorite thing about it. not very much product gets on the brush and its so easy to work into lashes. im in love.
