Very nice mascara. I have to gently wipe down the brush in order to avoid lash clumping. I still prefer Full and Soft, but if it were ever discontinued, this would be my first choice.

I love this mascara! I've tried so many! My eyelashes are blonde and short so it's difficult to find a mascara that grabs my lashes and builds easily. No clumping or smudging.

One of the lousiest mascara I've ever gotten!!! Don't waste your money!

Okay, so I have this horrible habit of getting mascaras, loving them, and then deciding later on that I don't love them anymore. Which is why I gave this mascara a couple weeks before reviewing it.
I had very low expectations of this mascara since the NYX Doll Eye Waterproof one was absolute garbage. It serves one purpose - to layer over non-waterproof in hopes of creating a waterproof seal. Other than that, it is awful.
But this review isn't for the Waterproof formula. It's for the Volume formula. And it is lovely. Lovely lovely lovely.
I don't use a lash primer or anything before applying this. I simple lift the lid slightly (my eyelashes have a strange curl - they angle down first, then up, and lifting my lid a tad really helps me to get closer to the base of the lashes), wiggle the brush back and forth at the base, and then sweep the wand to the tips of my lashes. One coat yields a very pretty, natural, fluttery lash look. But why stop there? I go for two or three coats and the volume and impact is absolutely insane! No other mascara has provided this kind of clump-free definition and volume on my thin, sparse lashes.
I love the Benefit They're Real! mascara, but this actually does an even better job at less than half the price.
The wand shape is wonderful. Due to the aforementioned odd curl of my lashes, I find it's easy for me to get mascara on my lid just above my lash line, which is annoying as all get-out. But the unique shape of this brush - the curvy, tapered-in-the-middle design - makes it easy to coat all of my lashes without getting much product on my lid. It also makes bottom lash application a breeze. No holding the wand vertical or any of that business. Application of this product is fantastic across the board.
The formula is in between wet and dry. It's not slimy or slick, but it's not dry either. It leaves behind a dark black, matte finish on the lashes. No shine. I do wish it was slightly more pure black, but honestly, once it's on my lashes, I don't notice much of a difference.
Somewhat water resistant
Long wearing - no smudging and no flaking
Color is slightly less black than I'd like, but not enough to make a stink over
Hard to find in the CT area. Not many stores carry NYX products here.
So there you have it. Great mascara, and I'd surely recommend it to anyone with thin lashes. It won't give you a "false lash" look, but frankly, any mascara that promises that is a big dumb liar face.

I have never bought the same mascara twice. I am pretty sure I have tried almost every mascara out there, drugstore and high end. So after trying this Doll Eye, I will be repurchasing again and again! I love it! It adds length, volume, definition. I don't think it curls but that's ok. I don't have nice eyelashes but this makes it look like I do.

Good definition, volume and curl. No flakes or smudges (I have oily lids), but what I didn't like was that my lashes were "tacky" the whole day as in if you pressed the lashes together they were stuck. Other than that feature it is a great mascara.

I swear by Lancome Hypnose Drama. I have noticed the formula is good but truly the brush is what does it all. After I ran out of this expensive mascara (multiple times now as I tend to repurchase what works), I have even proceeded to dip this lancome brush into formulas of bonus mascara's I receive from Clinique. Works almost similar!
However, I wanted to find a cheaper alternative. Been on the hunt everywhere and honestly this Doll Eye Volume Mascara does the trick. It ran out quite quickly though.. after less than 2 months but it was a whopping $9 which is a-ok for me. It wasn't exact like Lancome obviously but it lifted my short eyelashes just the same and had that consistency to keep them in place. No smudging, no problems with your usual drugstore mascaras.. Sometimes I still use my Lancome Hypnose Drama brush in this NYX Doll Eye formula - now that's a great combo! This is on the days I want a little more umph.
I would get the NYX Doll Eye Mascara - Volume again. It does it's job and it's cheap. This is coming from a girl who needs mascara daily or will surrender to fake individual lashes without the right one. Also to note, it's a little less clumpy than the Hypnose one. You can get away with coating again in the middle of the day if necessary.

I got this mascara after reading all the good reviews and ended up being disappointed.
I was looking for a good substitution of my fav Maybelline Colossal, because it flakes and in that regard NYX is certainly better, because it didn`t flake or smudge on me, but I wasn`t very excited about the wand, dry formula and an outcome, which is not anything special. I mean my lashes didn`t end up looking particularly thick or long. They were ok. I would say 3.5 out of 5 for the effect it gives.
What I really didn`t like about it is that when wearing this mascara my eyes felt extremely heavy and tired (and no, I didn`t put too much on). I can`t say that my eyes are very sensitive, but they surely didn`t like this formula, because I couldn`t wait to get home and take my makeup off. As soon as I did, that heavy feeling was gone. I don`t get such problem with a lot of mascaras.
Search for a better one continues.

I have to say I'm disappointed :/ I read ALOT of reviews on this mascara many of which were good, but it just didn't do the trick for me ...now it's not a horrible mascara it's ok but it did not give me that "doll eye" look it gave more of a natural defined lash look which is not bad but I like my lashes full and with length ..will not purchase again I'm sticking with my Mary Kate lengthening mascara now that does wonders ..only bad thing is that it's very dry making it a bit hard to remove but it's worth the hassle

I was blessed with long, thick black lashes; I only use this when I want real drama or when wearing a green eye look to create a "break" between my eye color and the e/s - I think it keeps the look from being monotonous, somehow. This mascara really delivers on the volume, but it does seem to give a length boost as well. The brush is great for getting at those tiny inner and outer corner lashes without poking myself in the eye. The consistency is creamy, but a little thin - I have to try really hard not to blink for about 20 seconds until it dries enough not to end up in my undereye bags, lol. It isn't waterproof, but is fairly smudgeproof once dry (more so than UD Skyscraper)
