This is a great polish that looks good with everything. I love that it looks super dark and you only have to use 1 coat. It is worth the $25 i paid. I have to keep buying this shade..i love it.

I don't know what was going through my mind when I bought this. It is a true black and one coat gives me opaque coverage which I never experienced with my other nail polishes. I am however unhappy with the price, twenty-three dollars for a nailpolish is very steep. Although I can justify it with how little of the product I actually need to apply which is why I give it a 3 for price. However, I cannot deny how beautiful this polish is. I love wearing it. I wish I can wear it everyday! Although NARS's Pokerface polish is looking very good to me right now. Stay tuned!

sometimes i forget how gorgeous and satisfying a rich black manicure can be. this black is rich and pigmented and applies well. the hidden shimmer pretty much disappears for me - my version is more flat black than the swatches here. still, it is rich, glossy like patent leather, and doesn't lean green. also i feel more glamorous knowing i'm wearing chanel on my fingers! this is a very useful, wearable mini indulgence

One of the best black polishes available. Very chic and goes on smoothly. A favorite of mine. Love it. Highly recommend.

Black nail polish was something i didnt think i could get away with, because i have black hair, and almost always wear black. I certainly didnt want to look like a goth. But it is my favourate colour and it was Chanel so i had to buy it, the lady on the Chanel counter who happens to be a good friend assured me i could pull it off as i dress quite elegantley!!
The polish is a nice deep rich black, and with a top coat looks super shiney!
I think it looks better when my nails are short, as most darker polishes do! I love it for winter, but try to put some colour into my clothes when wearing,e.g a crisp white shirt!
There are soo many cheaper black polishes out there (lets face it, its not a hard colour to copy!) but for me Chanel is black, sexy and sophisticated so it has to be Black Satin!

I think this is the best of what's out on the market.

Have tried
- Essie Licorice - too runny, takes 3+ coats (don't try it!)
- Rimmel 60 seconds Black Out - very thick, requires 1 really thick coat, clunk brush takes longer than expected to dry and chips after a couple of days
- Barry M Black - nice, but needs a lot of layering.

You could easily get away with 1 coat of this, 2 makes it extra special. With a base coat and top coat I can easily wear this for 4-7 days with only minor touch ups.

It does take a long time to dry and it is expensive (I think I paid 18GBP), but one coat is amazing.
Would buy again! This is the only black polish I'll wear now, I'd rather stick with this than waste money finding a cheaper alternative.

I do love the packaging quality of Chanel nail polishes. Satin Black is a chic and pretty black, not too gothy and not understated either, just a pretty black satin shade that, I think, looks best on shorter nails. However, it doesn't wear well, and for the price, I'll keep looking for my fav black n/p.

I bought Chanel black satin polish a few years ago when it first came out, Vamp was my fave in the 90's so i thought this would be too. Have to say im not impressed, doesnt last, it chips sooooo easily, i applied it before going to bed and the next morning after my shower and makeup routine b/f work the polish was already chipped, i dont understand how it could be so chipped the way it was, i didnt do any manual physical work, just slept, shower and put on makeup.

Also it is a very matte polish, not glossy, very flat color, and i had little scratches on the polish. I actually like the Avon warm black polish waaaay better, i paid only $2.00 for that and it has better quality than the $25.00 Chanel polish! I wont purchase again, whats the point, it comes off the same day!

I absolutely adore this polish. It's a very chic black, non? :) Not gothic at all-- very sexy, edgy, ROAR...

I find the opacity very satisfactory, all I need are two coats--under a stickey base coat, of course. I did try to use this on my (reluctant test subject) husband's base-coat free nails and the application turned out runny and streaky. So I advice priming your nails with a good base coat when using this.

Also, be prepared when applying this near the cuticle area; it's black after all, and if it touches the cuticles, it looks like engine grease. Make sure you got your clean-up tools handy.

Love, love, love this!

When Black Satin was originally released in 2006, I joined the frenzy surrounding it and made my frantic search for a bottle. However it sold out too fast for me and I was not enough of a hardcore polish fanatic to buy it off of Ebay where it was commanding insane prices. Chanel released more bottles, but I still didn't buy because I didn't want to get something so trendy. I also feared that I might regret my purchase. I never stopped wanting it though, so (over three years after it first caused my heart to flutter) I bought a bottle of Black Satin.
Black Satin is truly the best black there is. I've tried the dupes and have always been disappointed. The application of the dupes was always streaky and the color was never right. Black Satin has none of the application problems of its dupes. It is not streaky at all. The color is a beautiful sooty black and is very nice paired with my almost white skin. I was worried that the slight shimmer in Black Satin (which is not present in the European version of Black Satin) would ruin the polish for me because I don't like shimmer/glitter/iridescence in my polishes, but the shimmer is not noticeable at all after three coats. Sealed with a topcoat Chanel polish is long lasting on me, so I have no complaint about the wear. I love this polish and think it looks chic on my short nails. I'm glad I finally bought it!

this black is the best black polish I've used. Some comments down below are saying it cheaps fast cuz they probably didnt use a base coat under. but for me it last longer than usual. i apply uv top coat rather regular cuz it makes it more shiny. most of my customers loved it since i work at a salon

I got sucked into the hype. I own the made in USA version (if you didn't know already, the US version has a subtle microshimmer while the European version is flat). I love this polish, it is the only black polish I own. The formula is rich and luxurious; I had no problems with application. 2 coats were all I needed, though 1 coat had impressive coverage. With a top coat, the shine is lovely! And it lasts and lasts, even longer than Rouge Noir. It was also a breeze to remove.

Great color. All the celebrities are wearing this. But hated the quality and price. It doesn't last. After 2 days, my nails are marked with numerous scuffs. If you like this color, go for OPI black Onyx. Its cheaper and the quality is 100% better than chanel.

This is kind of a "posh goth" color: deepest black -- maybe a hint of blue -- shiny and very elegant. Not the 99 cent black I bought from the Halloween store back when in high school. (I'm a black nail polish girl from way back.) Say what you want about the price, Chanel's Nail Polish is quality stuff. Lasts much, much longer than most of the other polishes I've used, and you don't want chips with a dark manicure.

I live in the UK and don't like the european version of this so bought this from a great ebay seller (it wasn't ridiculously priced!). I love the shimmer in it, it makes it a really wearable and chic black, i find the creme version too harsh with my fair skin. It applied smoothly and evenly and has such dense pigment just one coat looked great. I would defintly repurchase again if I ran out.

I had high hopes for this product. I do love the color on the first day but it dulls and doesn't look very shiny after no time at all. I hated the brush. It is not near as good as the OPI brush. The little tiny brush makes it hard to apply and easier to make mistakes. Also, the brush doesn't get good and coated with polish so you end up dipping it in there again to get more for one nail. I think it gets great reviews because it's Chanel but if you didn't know what brand it was, you wouldn't think so highly of it. I've used way better blacks.

I really thought for the price of this polish it would at least be as good as OPI or Essie, but the quality is really bad. I find it hard to apply, the formula is clumpy and I don't like the brush at all. waste of money...
