I'm surprised by the number of low reviews for this mascara, but then again, it seems that mascara is an extremely subjective item. Anyway, I love what LE does for my already long lashes. It gives me the most glossy, blackest lashes bar none (and I have used everything mascara from high end to low). YSL Faux Cils is probably still my favorite ever, but LE is awesome for a really thick, lush look. Like most thickening mascaras, its shelf life is limited, but so is Dior Show for that matter.

To get to the point, if you have decent lashes and are looking primarily for a thickening, glossy and REALLY black mascara, give Lash Envy a try.

I'm writing this review in restrospect and to be honest, it must not have been a very good mascara because its hardly memorable either. All I do remember is the very sleek and sexy silver tube and the big black brush inside. For a $50 mascara I would have expected something very va va voom but my lashes were certainly not something to be envious about. They did not look any more dramatic than if I had simply used a $16 Maybelline Volume Express Turbo mascara and felt even more drier and brittle afterwards. I already have limiting eyelashes due to my asian heritage but I certainly did not want to lose all of them. I do not recommend this mascara to anyone.

I have use this mascara over the Prescriptive lash builder basecoat and also over the Shiseido Mascara base. The mascara does make my lashes appears a bit thicker, longer, and darker. When using this mascara along with the mentioned macara bases, I think it makes the mascara last longer with less smudges, but it does start to smudges after about 5-6 hours of wear. Most mascaras that I have wear does smudges on me though but it varies how long before it starts to smudges. I think that when I wear this mascara alone w/o the base, it gives me smudges faster. I will probably will not buy this again, I would only use this mascara if I am going somewhere that doesn't requires me to be there all day, so wearing this mascara to work everyday is not going to work becuase it starts to smudge after 6 hours. The other good thing about this mascara is that it doesn't seem to clump on my lashes.

Lash Envy is the first h/e mascara I've tried. I've always purchase d/s mascaras as I felt that I couldn't justify paying a ton of money on a product that I would have to throw out every few months.

I have oily eyelids and my mascara always melts off. Lash Envy lasts longer than any of the mascaras I've tried, including the waterproof ones. It adds length and volume. I know most folks say that a mascara does one or the other, but on my lashes, it definitely looks longer and thicker.

Will repurchase.

smells like standing water.
makes lashes look stick straight, like a cheap drugstore product.
BUT when you first apply it, it looks a little curly. they straighten out within a few hours, and stay crappy.

I really liked this mascara, especially for its consistency. It gives a good volume to my eyelashes and I LOVE how water resistant the formula is! I can go work out with the mascara on and no raccoon eyes!

However, there are a number of problems I found: 1. As the tube gets older, the formula begins to flake and clump after it drys, 2. You have to apply a few coats to really get that volume and dark look, 3. the tube beings to dry out only after about 2 months or so, which I don't think is worth it considering it is about $20.

Some tips for those people who have problem with the clumping: What I usually do is after application, spread your eyelashes out with your fingers, which also rubs away the excess mascara.

This is one of my favorite mascaras. (Makes me the minority, I suppose.) I really like the packaging and the wand, they're both pretty basic, but still make for a great mascara. The formula is a really nice consistency and it's not overly drying on my lashes. I can get either a big, dramatic lash or a nice natural lash with this, depending on the primer I use and the coats I put on.

It sounds odd, but this mascara performs wonderfully if I prime my lashes with Maybelline Brow Styling Gel...yes, on my lashes, not my brows. I get amazing length and color that I can wear with anything. Over this primer, I only need one coat for natural lashes and two, at the most, for my dramatic look. I haven't experienced any flaking, either.

Just wish the tube looked more like the Prescriptive's Lipsticks...a little bowed and slanted at the top? Yeah, oh well. I'll repurchase once I run out, this mascara is awesome.

No, no, no! Please don't use this review for your own individual peepers but I purchased this in Plum. Applied 8:00 a.m. today and at 11:00 a.m. was falling down hallway to first aid because I could not see from left eye. Attendant took one glance while I was yelling "need eyedrops...the one in blue box...fresh tears...and while she panicked and threw everything out of first-aid drawer (except eye drops) my eye closed up and all make-up I had applied earlier was running down face. OK. Finally stopped the tearing and replaced eye shadow from limited stash at office. WHEW! THEN around 1:00 my right eye did same thing. As Fresh Tears comes in individual vials and she sent two with me...did same thing to right eye. Gave up on repairing eye color and threw this junk into trash. Don't know if it's the color PLUM or overall product but my eyes STILL burn after removing all traces of product at home earlier tonight. I hate to leave negative reviews, but this stuff almost blinded me...burned, burned, burned...and my pretty peepers may never forgive such as they're still burning (faintly...thank heavens) as I write this review. Sorry, peepers!

good. doesnt lenghten massively, but volumises well. brush is similar to that of maybelline volume express. same formula almost, as it just doesnt clump. you can layer and layer and even re-apply during the day without them looking stiff. good stuff.

I can't really comment on the price on this since I got a gift with purchase size in a swap. This mascara did not last an hour before becoming complete soot under my eyes. Definitely would be bummed if I bought this.

I have this in the limited edition shade plum (fall '08). Like another reviewer below, I have mixed feelings about this mascara.
Pros: The color is perfect. I like a natural look and have fair, warm coloring (Y/O), and black mascaras are too harsh on me. This isn't so purple that people will look at me and see that I'm wearing purple mascara (when I wiped the wand with tissue, I could only see a bit of purple), but it's just the right shade to darken my lashes. I recommend it for fair-skinned girls in particular.

Cons: The formulation is much wetter than I'm used to, and my lashes look spidery after I apply the first coat. I'm experimenting with wiping some mascara off before applying, and combing my lashes out after it dries (the comb doesn't do anything when the mascara's still wet, and this alone is taking some time to get used to). Also: Any curl I had in my lashes prior to applying disappears almost immediately. Again, it seems to be related to too much product going on at once. Finally: My lashes aren't stiff, but they're not as soft as they are with my go-to HG Vincent Longo mascara.

Currently my HG of mascaras. I have kissed many frogs trying to find the best mascara for me, and this is the best one yet. It gives me volume--which is my main goal--with very little clumping and no flaking or smudging. I use 2 coats on top lashes and one on my baby bottom lashes, and I love the look--not overdone but not just ho-hum either. My only prob is that it seems to dry out quickly. Until I find anything better, though, I will continue to buy this mascara!

I used YSL for about 6 years and I have to agree with the reviewer below, they changed it. It just doesn't do it for me anymore - and I find it's not longer worth the high price, plus it irritated my eyes. I went back to my old standby Voluminous, but I longed for what the YSL originally did for my lashes. I read through these reviews and even though it's not terribly popular - I gave it try. I love the look - it makes my lashes long and lush. I'm lucky because I have good eyelashes, but this gives them a "wow" factor that isn't over the top. It gives more volume than many mascaras, and gives me beautiful length. It reminds me of what the YSL used to do for my eyelashes (not quite, but close). I've tried most mascaras, from drugstore to Dior Show, and find the Voluminous to be the best and this is right there with it. This has a nice gloss and didn't look dry on my lashes. I don't need to curl my eyelashes, and found this lifted them nicely and held them. Many mascaras irritate my eyes and even though this has a somewhat strong, chemical scent to it, it did not irritate my eyes at all. With all of that, I so wanted to love it - but, even though most mascaras smudge a little on me because I smile into my eyes, this did that faster and more so than other mascaras. I have to stick with my Voluminous, which application-wise is really close to this, but doesn't smudge as much.

This was my HG mascara for a long time. Gave a lot of volume and length, I could even put it on my short bottom lashes without making them look crazy and spider-like. Applying multiple coats was not a problem for me either... minimal clumping. I am blonde and the brown was a nice dark color without being too black. The only qualm I have about this is how quickly it seems to dry out. I never double pump it and always try to close the lid as tightly as possible. I even keep it in the original plastic tube packaging for godsake! If you can justify spending the money as often as it would take to keep a fresh formula, then have at it and get ready for some sweet lashes.

Since I had to stop using my favorite L'Oreal Voluminous, I've tried so many mascaras (including mascaras from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Bare Escentuals, Clinique, MAC, Estee Lauder, Avon, Smashbox, Stila, and more), and this is the very best one I've found !

Thickens, lengthens, and goes from natural-looking to dramatic and fabulous with just a few extra coats! I have lots of lashes, they are just thin and very light at the tips. They look *wow* with this. No clumps, and I swear my lashes are in better condition, too. Tried as a sample and have already purchased more for when my first tube runs out. LOVE this!

Favorite mascara I have tried yet, and believe me, I've tried millions of mascaras. From drug store brands to high quality brands.. lash envy is definitely my favorite no matter what.
Mascara Trials:
Maybelline Volume Express - decent
Maybelline XXL - decent
Maybelline Great Lash - terrible
L'Oreal Double Extend - terrible
Max Factor Volume Couture - terrible
Lancome Definicils - Not right for me, but good mascara
MAC Zoomlash - absolutely dreadful
MAC Plushlash - decent
MAC Pro/Loud Lash - below average
Benefit Badgal - decent not long wearing.
Dior - Diorshow - AMAZING, but I hate the brush.

etc. etc.

Basically I've been through a lot of mascaras and lash envy gives me the natural look I'm going for and my lashes ARE NOT HARD or FLAKEY.
Gives great volume, I love this mascara, however I never repurchased because one day
I cried while wearing it, and it ALL came off everywhere. It was insane.
LOVES IT.

I love this mascara! It was my first prescriptives purchase, after seeing it on QVC I decided I had to try it. I am a mascara junkie. I've tried virtually everyone's mascaras: Lancome, L'oreal, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Dior, and this is the best by far. It makes my eyes so pretty, dark beautiful lashes that fan and frame my eyes and make them so lush! I always seem to come back to it.

This mascara like other prescriptive mascara has a dry formula and dries out way too quickly. It was the best mascara I have ever used the first couple of times and used it religiously even told others to get it. Defined, lengthened and gave my lashes so much volume but it is too expensive to be used for such a short time.
