I posted in B&I's review thread two years ago, saying this didn't agree with my nose. I don't know what happened - or how I forgot to come back and correct that erroneous review - but I honestly adore this now. Somewhere along the way, I became a rose lover, and this is an amazing rose scent. The rose isn't too soapy, nor is it sour or sharp, and the dirt note isn't so much "potting soil" as it is just earthy. Fab scent, two thumbs up from me.

AMAZING juice!! I ordered this in the roll on perfume based upon the reviews here - I just had to try it and was pretty sure I would like it! Heady, strong and sexy - definitely not for the faint of heart!
A beautiful, well rounded, classic rose scent with just enough going on in the background to keep it from being linear - Spectacular!!
Even my husband commented on good it smelled - try it!!

First order with Bathed and Infused, during their 4th Birthday sale. The package took a month and a day to get here and it was worth the wait. I got Funeral in a EDP, and I'm completely in love. Everyone is different of course, body chemistry and so on. This is classic old rose, even english rose with moss, a little fresh dirt (as in graveyard) and it develops during dry down. I think it's a perfect modern rose scent. Well named. This is everything that is good about funerals. (I know) It's a fascinating scent and I'm going to need this in every form B&I makes it in. I love it, it's fascinating.

I received Funeral as a sample with one of my B&I orders. I didn't think I would like it, based upon the description on the site... and well, the name conjures up all sorts of grim, depressing images.
I'm happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance!
The main note is rose-- a black, almost musty smelling rose (but not undesirable in any sense). It almost reminds me of a dried bouquet of roses, but less icky!
I do smell some other things in there... yes, perhaps something mossy. I'm not sure quite what it is, but it's nice.
I'd say it's the slightly dustier (that's not a bad thing!), less green and thankfully, cheaper alternative to Fresh's Cannabis Rose (which I also like-- please read my review on that fragrance. It may give you a little more insight regarding my thoughts about this particular fragrance).
I do like it! However, I have to be in the mood for it. It's definitely not an HG fragrance (hence the one lippie off). It's an odd one, and I can see a lot of people disliking it.

I discovered Funeral (and B&I) when I did a MUA review search for "perfect rose" (thanks Wyrmiax!). This combination of black roses, dirt, and grave moss is dark and beautiful without being creepy or cloying. On my skin it develops into a very earthy rose, not light or soapy like many others. Be forewarned, this stuff is STRONG so spritz sparingly or you may end up with a headache. The price is incredible, $14.95 for a 1 oz EDP that lasts and lasts. The bottle is generic with the blue and white B&I label. Perhaps I'll transfer some to an atomizer for the vanity. Now I'm curious to to try Demeter's Funeral Home which reads like a completely different fragrance ("lilies, carnations, gladiolus, chrysanthemums with stems and leaves, with a hint of mahogany and oriental carpet"). It's funny how a name can make people so uncomfortable. Read the MUA reviews for Funeral Home -- some are convinced they smell formaldehyde!!!
UPDATE 1/27/2008: Sadly, I simply can not wear this. I can't even get near it because it gives me a headache. I may try diluting it to a rose water so it doesn't go to waste.
UPDATE: 10/19/08: I recently gave Funeral another sniff. Still bummed. The moss just overwhelms my nose. I recently had a similar reaction to another of BI's popular mossy scents, John Smith, so I know it's just me! Three lippies because Funeral is a great scent if you can handle it, and BI is a truly fab company. I have Funeral up for swap - try it!

Never heard of Bathed and Infused before but the name "Funeral" alone sold me on trying this. I ordered it as one of the selections in the sample package; it was in lotion form. It's a soft and nice but all I really smell is rose. I wanted to smell the dirt and the moss but it just smelled like a more mellow version of regular rose oil. It didn't give me a headache, as some rose-based fragrances do. Perhaps the addition of carnation or a wood element into the mix would have made it smell more "funereal." I probably won't choose this scent again but I'm definitely re-ordering some of their other scents.

The black rose scent is primary scent with just a tad of dirt and moss. Not Gramma’s rose and although I general dislike rose scents this may be one to add to the collection. A very seductive rose. Def worth checking out. I can see why this is one of B & I's best sellers!

This was a sample in my first B&I order. I have only tried the lotion, and I agree with the positive reviews. Nice rose fragrance w/out being too heavy. Soft and pretty. I can't compare this to Agent P, but I like this more than Stella. Would probably purchase a body mist or EDP of this scent.

What an unusually intoxicating scent. I first smelled it when my best girlfriend wore it on a night we went out (she is a B&I addict like I am). I could not get enough of sniffing her (nor could her husband - he loved it!). I ended up buying myself an EDP in Funeral. It is not the best scent for my own body chemistry, so I don't find myself wearing it often. But, I still love it every time my friend wears it.

This is quite similar to scents like Opone and Agent Provocateur, and it only costs a fraction less! Don't let the name turn you off. Funeral is a beatiful, dark rose; sexy and moody and quite wonderful for something this cheap. Rose fans should check this out ASAP!
