I love this eye shadow duo. To be honest these are not colors I'd typically gravitate towards. But I was buying a #217 brush and the SA tried this on me to show me how to use the brush. I loved the rusty orangish color for the crease. It has a bit a of sparkle but just the perfect amount not too much for every day wear. And its a nice bright eye contour color. The light cream/gold color is pretty too. It is very subtle, but mainly the orange is the reason this product is worth buying!

Pros - beautiful rusty red shade / yellow gold shade. Very pigmented yet still easy to blend. Long wearing. Great color pay off. The reddish shade is different from most other reds I have seen. Great sheen.
- - -
Cons - slight fallout.
- - -
Overall - I use this with a brown base underneath (bamboo) to give the red color a brown tint. After seeing a picture of Mila Kunis at the 2009 Emmy's I was obsessed with creating a reddish / brown smokey eye that would work for me. I love using either this duo, heritage rouge, or an old Victoria's Secret set to create a reddish smokey eye.

I liked this overall, it is definately pigmented. I usually wear this half and half on my lids vertically putting the light color from inner corner to center of the lid, thnen the other color from center to outer. Then put a black or bark brown in the crease and blend well. It looks beautiful this way!! Love this mes. Blends very well too

I got this in a swap. I have many of the MES from MAC. I can say that by far this is the one that has the best texture and staying powder. The first time I wore this i didnt even use a primer. I also didnt wet the brush. It went on beautifully and it stayed on the whole day. These colors are a little too " earthy " for me which is why I dont use it but if I could go and change the colors on this I would. I love everything about it, the texture, staying power, and the blendability. If you like neutral/natural shades please try this. You will love it and it will last you forever. You dont need a lot of the product. I found that it " foiled " my eyelid with very little product and effort. not primer and no wetting.

I think "Heat Element" is a gorgeous duo. The colours are a beautiful gold and an intense copper that looks perfect on the crease an in the outer V. Both of them are very shimmery and I like that. Good texture and pigmentation. Very easy to apply. I tend to apply the copper on the crease and it makes a really good combination with many other colours. The gold colour is a beautiful shade, a mix with golden and beige that you can apply dry or wet. I would repurchase it.

I really like this eyeshadow because I don't really have any colours that are like these. They are great to use together or use them with other colours but in my opinion I like to darken up the colours with brown because they look a bit too orangey without it to me I don't know maybe that's just me. My only complaint is that my lid broke the first time I used it :( but it's okay I still love this eyeshadow soo much

One of my favorite MAC mineralize duos! The gold side is a very metallic orangey/gold .. the other half is a vibrant copper. This looks amazing on my brown eyes, and works surprisingly well as a blush on my MMM warm skin tone. can't rave enough about this pretty duo! Definitely worth getting your paws on if you can find it!!

I fell in love at first sight. I HAD to have this color. I tried swapping to no avail so my DH took me to a MAC Pro store to shop for Valentine's Day. I got this and a few other items. This is my first MAC eyeshadow duo. I love the copper color and the deep golden color is the perfect compliment. I use an eye shadow base with it so I'm not sure how long it lasts by itself. The colors are great with my skin tone (NC45).

It took me a bit to figure out how to apply this today when I used it for the first time. I learned quickly that the dark shade is too red to use in the crease all by itself, so I deepened that up with Mulch (although I think when I recieve Tempting in the mail I may use that instead). So then to get the red to show and still look good, I packed it on the outer corner of my lower lid and blended it into the gold I had on the bottom lid. This looked FANTASTIC and this duo looks amazing with my auburn hair.
Experiment with this one, ladies, it's worth it to get such a unique look.

I'm not a mineral makeup fan either, so i picked this up based on the fact that it looked awesome on one of the MAC girls.
It looked like a very peachy gold on her, and... i was in love. I know i already have Melon, but.... yeah I couldn't resist.
Most people here mention using this wet, but I'd rather use it dry with a base underneath instead.
How I use it: the coppery color first, and then the gold over it for that peachy color. I love it because it makes my eyes look more deep set... and just giving it more dimension in general. after all, i'm asian and.... my face is kinda flat =(
Anyways, I wouldn't repurchase not because I don't like it, but I'm pretty sure MAC will come up with other substitiions later.

Let me start off my saying I am not a mineral makeup fan but I love this product! A yellow gold and a rusty red brown (actually reminded me of Cranberry). I got this right before the holidays and it worked wonderfully. There is no fallout like other mineral makeup and it blends very well. I am NW20 so I was hesitant about the yellow gold but it was very complementary to my skin tone. I used a 239 brush to pat on the gold on my lid up into crease, then used the reddish color ith brush 217 on the outer "V" and vanilla as a highlighter. To deepen the crease I used star violet. This really makes blue eyes pop! This was my favorite purchase of last year and you can pull the red under the eye over your eyeliner and smudge it out for a smokey look and it doesn't accentuate the red veins in your eyes at all.

I am surprised at the mixed reviews for this e/s. I find it very versatile and beautiful. I love the gold - it is a gorgeous color on pale skin with yellow undertones (I'm C2). I also love the copper as well. My favorite way to use the shadow is to use my MAC brush 217 to blend both the gold and copper together in the container and then put it over my completed eyelids. I normally like to put it over shroom, era, and kid (shroom all over lid, era in outer corners, kid in crease). It gives it a beautiful sheen, a hint of glitter, and a lot of depth. With phloof on the brow bone, it's a wonderful day look. It doesn't look made up yet it makes my brown eyes pop. For those who are not fans of red in e/s, this color does have a lot of red undertones although that looks good on my pale skin. With a bit of liner and mascara, it's my go-to look. I use the gold a lot instead of shroom now. The cooper is a bit tricker to use on its own as others have said. When used wet, the colors are intense. Overall, great product.

The texture of this MES is much better than those from the most recent 2007 collections. It has good pigmentation, even without a base and there is no glitter fallout.
This duo is a very good summer look for me; I'm NC50. I use the copper shade as a wash, and the gold side to highlight. Would definitely repurchase if it wasn't LE. But it will take forever to use up the one that I have: you get a lot of product for the money.

I bought this because I love gold e/s and am always looking for the perfect one. I love the Gold in this duo, but somehow never got the Copper to work for me because it looks too orangey on me (I'm black hair, brown eye, NC 15) The downside of this is that it has a tendency to flake while being applied. Overall I quite like this product, but for gold colored e/s I think I prefer the MAC pigments or paint pots instead.

Pretty colors, nice texture, EVIL packaging. I'm not sure anyone's mentioned this because here on MUA we tend not to use products up quickly, but it's prone to shattering. Not for an acceptable reason. These are big domes of shadow, but the product doesn't extend down into the pan. Instead, it sits on a plastic surface THE SAME COLORS AS THE MAKEUP (Is this to make it look like there's still more there? So weird.) which encourages breakage far more than traditional packaging would have. Also, I feel that it suggests to the costomer that they're getting more product than they really are. Sleazy.

This looks so pretty in the package that I couldn't wait to buy it. I'd been looking for a true gold eye shadow and thought this would be a great one. After using it for a few months, I have to say it's just OK. The gold is very glittery and has a tendency to flake off onto my face. I use an eyeshadow base and it still looks somewhat worn off after a few hours. The copper side however is gorgeous! It's a lovely color that can vary in intensity from ok to wear to work to a more dramatic evening look. I also like how big the shadow is, I'll probably get sick of it before I run out.

An absolute rave over this duo! I am a C3, brown eyes and dark hair and imho this was simply made for brown-eyed girls in mind. The gold side is somewhat reminiscent of melon pigment. The rust color is just that, rust, not over the top, complements my coloring. I use the gold side on the lid and the rust side on the outer lid and on the browbone. I first bought Illusionary/Burning Ambition (okay but am not so enthusiastic about it as this one) so I sometimes use the light colored side in the inner corner. As noted below, these are somewhat sheerer than other MAC e/s but i'm okay with it because the colors are so beautiful.
I tried to buy a back up of this but they were sold out which disappointed me very much. If you have similar coloring to mine and you can still get Heat Element at your counter, I very strongly recommend this.
