I got this in a swap. It's not the best mascara, and it's not the worst. The problem I have with it is that it clumps. And on my sparse little lashes, well, it doesn't do them any favours. If I want to use this mascara I have to apply it very carefully - It's not a mascara that I can swipe on and be out of the door in a matter of seconds. I have to take the time to ensure that it looks good, and not a big ole clumpy mess.
However, it is very black, so that's one redeeming feature. Also, it does last pretty well. As for 'High Drama Volumizing' - Hmm, maybe I just have the wrong sort of lashes, but I don't see a great deal of volume.
It's a resounding 'meh'

I quite like this mascara but I think I had also bought a bad tube because the formula appeared dry and it clumped my lashes. But I liked the black intensity that it gave my lashes. It did thicken and was easy to go on and take off. They discontinued this product here in Canada so I won't buy this product ever again anyways.

I must have gotten a bad tube, because the product that I received does not resemble any of the reviews written here. I applied the mascara and all I got was clumps, clumps and more clumps. At $9.00 a tube, I expected a lot more from this product. This is my fourth L'oreal mascara that I have tried, and none of them have impressed me. I will not buy this product again...I'll stick with Maybelline.

I'm not a fan of natural looking eye lashes. This mascara truly makes your lashes stand out and appear.....well....fake. But in a good way. It thickens like no other and the rich pigmented black is so dramatic and eye catching. I'll be pretty pissed if a previous poster was right and it turns out L'oreal discontinued this mascara. That always happens to me, I find a fabulous product and the company takes it away from me. >:(

i have seen this mascara on older YouTube reviews and was not able to find it, so i was disappointed, thinking it was discontinued. but one day while i was out and about with my grandma she took me to Walgreens (we don't have one in my city) and there it was! on sale! i just had to grab it and i must say i love love love it. the following week i went out with my grandma again and only had time to put on this mascara, no other makeup. through my glasses my grandma noticed and commented on how amazing my mascara looked. def gonna go out of my way to Walgreens to repurchase

This mascara rocks.. It more for a club look though.. If used for day time def. chill on the layering aspect but heres a tip - (If worn out at night... layer this baby on until your lashes are how you desire them.. THEN before it dries coat it with a waterproof mascara, WHY? Well in my opinion waterproof mascara causes eyelashes to look dried out and clumpy if used to layer... so You still get that beautiful defined look without the clump :) just an idea

This is an amazing mascara. Don't listen to the bad reviews. I didn't see a single clump the whole time I was using this. I must say the formula lasted an extremely long time without drying out or thickening. I was extremely impressed with this mascara and I'm sad they don't make it anymore. The color is super rich and it thickens without clumping. It doesn't lengthen as much as I would like, but that's not a big deal in my book.

People are going crazy writing bad reviews for this! Almost as crazy as HIP for no longer making this - I have fantasies about finding a huge box of this stuff dumped somewhere where I can bring it back to my place and hoard it properly it's so good. The color on this is a rich, intense black that separates all my lashes and leaves them looking long and feathery. I've never had any problems with this clumping like some other reviewers have either - it comes out of the tube smooth as butter. The best part about this though has got to be the brush. Some of the most fabulously formulated mascaras in the world come with bad brushes that completely ruin the product but I loved the way this one handled - it made it easy to get to all the small lashes and still gave the big ones a nice even coat. Also I know this is going to seem nasty but because I loved this mascara so much I decided to hold onto it for as long as their was still product left for me to use instead of tossing it at the 6 month mark like I usually do and this thing lasted me FOREVER. Seriously - I only needed to use a little bit to begin with and this thing is still with me almost a year after my initial purchase. If there is ANYTHING this mascara can't do I'd like to hear it - plus the packaging looks very cute to boot. The tube looks like a stretched out diamond or some strange mineral formation with it's sharp angles.

Wow, I'm surprised at the low ratings for this! I had my eye on this for a while but kept talking myself out of it because A - I am in absolute love with Mayb. Colossal mascara and didn't think anything could top it. And B - (though still quite affordable,) I thought it was a bit pricey for drugstore mascara, since I can get the Maybelline for around $6. But, I caught it on sale at Ulta so decided to pick it up.
Yes, it is a bit clumpy - but that's where technique comes in. If you don't allow too much on the wand, and then comb your lashes out after, (on me at least,) it makes you look like you're wearing falsies.
I'm very pleased!

At least it was free... But it clumps a lot and if you forget to remove it before you go to bed you'll wakeup with black all over your face.

WOW! I can't believe how many bad reviews this mascara gets because this is one of my favorite mascaras! This plumps up my lashes amazingly. It looks like I am wearing fake lashes. I usually wear at least 2 different kinds of mascara on my lashes but with this I feel I could only use this and still get the effect of long voluminous dark flirty lashes that I love. This works better than my high end mascaras. The texture of this mascara is really creamy too so yes it may clump very easily BUT I have found that this can be avoided more if I wear just a little bit more primer than usual.
I always stock up on this when CVS has its semi-annual beauty clearance sales because for some reason (judging by the bad reviews low sales performance) this is ALWAYS 75% off at my local CVS so I end up getting it for like $2.50. STEAL!

I was not fond of this mascara when I first tried it, but yesterday I gave it another go and today I am finding that I really like it. It is definitely the blackest mascara I have ever used and I think it does a decent job at volumizing. Like other l'oreal mascaras, I find that this mascara clumps up easily on the wand. I have to make sure I wipe it off well before applying or else my lashes will be a big clumpy mess! You could also run a lash comb through your lashes, but I find that to be a hassle. While it's not the best the best mascara I've tried, I would consider buying it again for the great color payoff, but it will not replace my holy grail-CG in the orange tube :)

it is by far the darkest black i've ever seen, so dark that it looks a little too fake with my medium brown hair... but looks very nice on black/dark brown haired people
:(
i found that by the end of the day i'm getting zombie dark circles under my eyes (i hate that!!!!)
i had to return it i couldn't even finish the tube,

This is pretty clumpy stuff. When i started with the first coat, i first thought was 'wow this is hardly noticable' so then i added another coat... it makes them look thicker but thats only cuz they are clumpy. Also this smudges pretty bad and fast. Wont buy again.
** today is my first day wearing this mascara. I applied it around 7:15am and it is now 3:41pm... My eyes have been burning for the past couple of hours.. at first i just thought it was maybe from being tired, but its getting worse, i'm pretty sure its this mascara.

Boo! I was hoping so much for this mascara to be amazing but it was not! It wasn't cheap. It looked cute. But the formula just sucks! Honestly, I enjoy the ELF mascara better than this one. Let's just leave it at that!!!

I ran out of my mascara, but I saw this on sale at CVS in U.S. I heard that this mascara gives you the false eyelash effect, so of course I had to get it. When I first used it, it really did make my lashes look so thick and big, with some clumping, but I didn't really mind. I really, really liked the effect right after I put this on. But-that feeling didn't last for long. The flaking on this was unbearable. I would take a long time to apply my MU, trying my best to cover all the scaring on my face, just to see it all ruined by the flaking from this product. Of course when I tried to get the flakes off, it smeared all over my face. I did give it another go a week later, just to have the same flaking everywhere, once again smearing my MUA. For me this was horrible, maybe I had a bad one, but I would never buy again

I was mourning the loss (discontinued) of L'Oreal Lash Architect mascara and was desperate when I bought HIP mascara. The tube was reassuring in that it resembled my favorite, departed mascara (Architect). But, unfortunately, the resemblance was only exterior appearance. This mascara is very wet and loads onto eyelashes well (quick and easy) and unfortunately gives me raccoon eyes even quicker. I do have oily eyelids that remove most mascara and eyeliner brands but HIP's wet formula mascara came off me more quickly and to a greater extent than any other mascara I have ever tried. After washing my face with my standard baby wash, I looked alot like Alice Cooper. I have fine, medium length, sparse lashes so I 'need' volume and lengthening and if this product stayed on me at all I would continue to buy it until I found something a little better at lengthening.

This is by far my favorite mascara! The pigmentation is great, there's wonderful volume and you get it on sale at Ulta, it's not very expensive. Try the Ultimate Black-Blue shade. It's not very blue. Just a deep, inky black.
