Hi! I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews.
I love this product.
I have small Asian eyes. I don't have a crease in my eyes so regular sized lash curlers are tough to use. I haven't used shu uemura's but I have shiseido's curler. Unpleated eyes' lids do something funny: they don't fold back into the socket (causing the crease), instead they just tuck themselves away over, on top, of the lashes. Which is why my lashes look a lot shorter than they already are. Most of you folks are pobably like "what the heck are you talking about??"
But I love this detail curler because I can curl my lashes in sections. A full sized lash curler may curl the middle section of my lashes but not the outer or inner section. With this detail lash curler I can curl all my lashes.
It is funny shaped (it's straight and only about 1/2" long), so it takes alittle bit of getting used to. Once you train your hand and fingers to not treat it like a regular lash curler, it's fantastic.
My only gripe: The posts over which the bottom clamping part slides are quite thick. If I don't wiggle the lash curler slightly after positioning the curler, the posts may "smoosh" some lashes as I attempt use the thing. Perhaps the shu uemura lash curler will be manufactured in a less crude manner. Whatever, I'll get used to it...it' sephora brand...
Me likes! It's great for my small Asian eyes! I guess most people are blessed with regularly shaped eyes. :)

Why didn't I read the reviews for this product before I bought it? As usual, the reviews are right - this "curler" is useless. I found it impossible to use, basically as another reviewer stated, eyes are round and this curler is flat. How are you supposed to position this... thing.... I am returning to Sephora tomorrow!

I thought this would be perfect for my super sparse lashes.. Alas, no. It doesnt actually curl your lashes at all.. the shape is really weird.

Eh - I thought this would work great because it wouldnt matter what my eye shape was, and I could get to all my lashes since my eyes are small and flat-ish. It curls very unevenly and makes my mascara clump :(. The only thing I can use it for is curling the edge-lashes that the regular curler can't reach a little. I didn't like this and ended up never using it - I actually thought that the clumping was the mascara's fault!

ohhhh please - don't waste your money, this thing is awful. The pad will not stay in place, and it just does nothing for your eyelashes. I can usually find a way to make use of anything, but not this. It has completely turned me off the SEPHORA brand. What a waste of money.

My friend and I were having a conversation about getting a detailed lash curler. So she went ahead and got this. She told me it was amazing. So I ran out and got it. It retails for $21 CDN. Of course, it didn't work for me at all. I have short but curled Asian lashes. I was hoping this would give more curl particularily to the inner and outer lashes. After I used it and put mascara on right after, nothing changed - they looked exactly how they look all the time! So I tried it a couple of times and it didn't work out for me at all. I have never returned anything to Sephora before - until now.
When I returned it, the SA told me that the Vincent Longo one is better because of the pads on the curler. The difference is only $2.50. But really, I didn't think it would make that much of a difference so I passed on it as well.
I really wanted this to work for me. But oh well.

Horrible. I bought it today and I'm returning it tomorrow. The flatness of the curler is awkward and when you do curl your eyelashes, it givse it that straight edged curl. Horrible.

I guess I should have read the reviews prior to purchasing this during a trip to San Diego. It is awkward to position and not at all shaped or curved like you'd expect a curler to be plus it pinches and hurts! I don't have the option of returning since I live in NM and we do not have a Sephora so it's 14 dollar lesson in believing the hype before doing more research I guess.

When it comes to make-up I am pretty skilled at using all sorts of tools - you need the dexterity of a master yogi to get this into the proper position! Eyes are curved, trying to finagle this awkward tool into the corner of the eye without pinching your bottom lashes with the upper and not denting the lashes next to it is near to impossible. I tried it once, tried it twice then promptly returned it to Sephora. It is horrible - do not even try.

Maybe I just don't know how to use this but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'm paranoid about pinching my lids with this...I don't really like the design. Perhaps there is a learning curve--I will keep trying it and update later on. At this point, if I lost it or my son flushed it down the toilet, I would not re-purchase. $14 at sephora.com...I like the red handle though, fun!!
