Just got this in a swap, I know it may be a tease to review it since it's DC, but in case some of you out there have access to it I figured why not. This is a fairly matte burgundy cake liner, not much in the way of noticeable shimmer or dimension to it, and it comes in a fliptop compact with a mirror, matte finish dark brown, very elegant. I love this liner, I am so glad I finally cracked the code of LM cake liners, because they are really something special.
I'm not sure if it's because my Aubergine has seen significant use, or the color, but it does seem to drink up more water than my Black Ebony, but the process is the same--wet brush (a drop or two, no more) and work into a paste, and apply. Presto--long-wearing, brilliant, true color. The color of Aubergine is like MAC's Sketch e/s--a gorgeous ruddy plum that brings out my blue eyes and doesn't cross the line into making me look sick (though I agree with another reviewer who suggested it might not be the best idea to wear this if you were already bloodshot). Like Sketch (which I wear at least 3x/wk), I expect it to become one of the surprise hits of my traincase. It also reminds me of UD Roach, one of my favorite liquid liners, which has a lot of red and plum to it.

I hate to ruin the reviews on this eyeliner, but it was terrible on me. It made me look like I'd been on a three day bender. My eyes looked so red and bloodshot that my husband commented and he doesn't notice my makeup as a rule. I'm a LLL brunette with red undertones and blue green eyes, and this is an awful color if you're fair and can't wear reddish tones around the eye. I gave it a three because I didn't want to knock it down too far just because the color was bad for me. Seemed decent as eyeliners go otherwise. Smudged some, but then most liners do on me unfortunately.

Was hesitant about a red/purple eyeliner, but this looks great with my blue eyes, as long as my eyes are not red & irritated to start with. LOVE LM cake liners, and have 4 of them total (depotted into a MAC 4pan palette). These cake liners last all day & never need retouching, even with my oily lids

This review refers to Aubergine in the cake-form eyeliner.
I love this liner! The color (a plummy eggplant) is great for bringing out my blue eyes. I think it would also be especially gorgeous for someone with green eyes! Laura Mercier's cake liners are unbeatable, and I also own the colors Ebony & Mahogany. These are the only liners I ever use anymore, since the wear is very long-lasting and the colors are great. One of my favorite ways of wearing Aubergine is with Chanel's Vega Eyeshadow...it really brings out the plum tones of the shadow, and looks very sophisticated and polished.
***One word of caution: make sure the whites of your eyes have no redness when you wear Aubergine, as it could make you look like you're feeling ill. I noticed it on a bad-allergy day, and it made me look like I had the flu!

This is another winner from LM, at least for me. I ahve always had eyes that just WILL NOT hold a cream or pencil eyeliner. By noon, they would be down my cheek or gone altogether!! This one stays exactly where I put it ALL DAY. The color is perfect for me, too. I will definitely re-buy this product. Again, eBay brand new and saved a TON!!!

I love this eyeliner (cake). It is so long wearing,I can wear this all day, and my mascara runs before this does. The color is wonderful.

I love cake eyeliners, and the colour of this one is so lovely. The eggplant purple shade is the perfect alternative to black, and I wear it often during the day because it's less harsh and dramatic. Looks wonderful with my Stila Capri Colours trio!

I ADORE THIS. It was featured in Allure back in fall of 2001, and I fell in love. It was the first high end cosmetic I actually bought. It's a great cake eyeliner (try it with BeneFit's get bent eyeliner brush) and the shade compliments the green and gold in my eyes wonderfully. The eggplant color defines my eyes without looking overdone like black eyeliner. The star of my makeup bag :)
