I finally caved and ordered a sample of the liquid foundation, hoping I'd hate it. I'm light to medium, Bobbi Brown Cool Beige for reference, and my skin tends to be an uncomfortable combination of oily, dry, sensitive and aging (ever so slightly!). The foundation sample shade is Natural, which I thought looked a bit dark in the bottle, and it is the liquid form (rather than the cream).
{{{{sigh}}}} I love it. It feels like I have nothing on (makeup-wise, of course). The formula is flawless, glided on without a hitch (for my first application, I used a sponge wedge), and didn't have the heavy, hard-to-distribute qualities I've read about in the reviews here. I won't be using a sponge to apply it going forward, since sponges tend to absorb and waste a lot of product but I have found that this is the best way to check shade and texture.
Like most of you, I've travelled the entire foundation spectrum, from drugstore to OMG-you-did-NOT-pay-that-much. This is a bit more than I'd like to spend for foundation, but what have I already spent for itchy, shiny, slick, pore-enlarging preparations? The scent is a little medicinal, a little sharp, but I didn't notice it except during application. As an aside, I didn't notice any flaking or settling while wearing this, but I prep my skin according to its nature and the weather, using Oil-Absorbing Lotion in the hot weather, or the LM Gel Cream when it's cooler. The only time I use Soft Cream or the original cream is at night--too heavy for my combination skin during daylight.
Color-wise, I have virtually no warm or cool tones to my skin; I'm nearly a straight neutral beige which only suggests the barest hint of warmth. The shade turned out quite well, as it goes--as close to invisible as I'm likely to see without custom-mixing my own. That said, most of the foundations I use tend to look far too yellow or pink on me, so I either look liver-diseased or feverish. The Natural shade still might be a smidge dark, but my face and my neck are several shades apart in color anyway. This color tones the ruddiness down enough so that it actually brings my face into closer compliance to the shade of my neck, which surprised me. Before I sock any serious dollars into a full-sized bottle, I will try another shade or two perhaps, but I WILL be purchasing this foundation.
If you're curious about this foundation, I do suggest getting your hands on a sample of it first. I suspect that this has been reformulated since the earlier reviews; I don't know about the creme formula, but there's nothing heavy about the liquid. If you're really smart, exchange shades with a few friends of different complexions and get it right before you buy it (unless, of course, you have retail access to it, which I do not at the moment). Trade all or part of your sample here for the shade you might want. It's a product worth taking the time to get right and, personally, I can't wait to get my hands on it. I've spent enough dollars and time on the "cheaper" solution.

This is currently my HG foundation :)
Pros-
- Color match is good for me (Ivory)
- Light coverage
- Long lasting - I work the typical 9-5 M-F and hit the gym after work. I don't always remember to bring makeup removing cloths with me and keep my foundation on while working out (eep!). Once I get home I use a makeup removing cloth and there is still foundation on the cloth - even after cardio!
- Doesn't look cakey
- Looks glowy at first, but then seems to settle to a natural finish that doesn't look like foundation.
- Doesn't oxidize
- Smell is a bit bizarre, but I've actually grown to love it.
- Contains SPF
- Does NOT break me out :)
Cons
- Price
- Doesn't look horrid in photos, but doesn't look spectacular in them either. Maybe it's just me that looks bad lol!
I will repurchase. I love this as my every day foundation.

I am really surprised that so many reviewers much younger than me love this foundation. I love it too, but to me it is a foundation for an older woman. It's very thick for a liquid as many reviewers have noted. But, I really don't have to work too hard to get a natural finish. I try to press out a very scant squirt and dot it on my face saving the most for my cheeks and chin, then press it in as recommended by the SA. After that I either use a foundation brush or my fingers to even out. I usually don't even need all of that tiny squirt, so this foundation is going to last quite awhile. After concealer (YSL Touche Eclat), I use the La Mer translucent powder too. The look is great. Very natural but with decent coverage. I would rather have freckles show through than go for too heavy coverage. I think the staying power is very good.
I had been using Chanel Lift Lumiere and was happy with it, but I wasn't happy that it contained parabens. I had read that a celebrity whose makeup usually looks great used La Mer and checked the ingredient list. I bought it based on the lack of parabens and how great it looked after the SA applied it.
I am a PPP with yellow undertones. Porcelaine (14) blends well into my skin. It's fairly neutral very light beige, neither too yellow or pink for me.

Maybe this is premature, as I've only been using this product for three days, but so far I LOVE it! I have extremely sensitive olive skin with rosacea on my nose, forehead, and cheeks. My moisturizer, which I'd been using successfully for months, started to backfire, giving me bumps and redness, so I decided to go to La Mer and try a new foundation too. I've been using Chantecaille FutureSkin in Sand for years and have been very happy with it but I guess I was bored with it, and wanted to see it La Mer lived up to the hype. I'm used to expensive foundations; Chantecaille is $65 a jar, but this La Mer is $85 a bottle, so it's definitely an investment. I am so thrilled to say that in combination with the La Mer Concentrate, which I bought on the same day, and this foundation on top, it is an absolutely FLAWLESS finish, the best I have seen since before my rosacea kicked in at age 27, and I have never seen my skin look better. I am using #4 Neutral, which is golden and yellow, without being heavy, dark, or streaky. The SA kept insisting I use a brush to apply it but I hate brushes (I think they leave a streaky finish and tug the skin) and prefer to apply with a sponge even if they say the sponge absorbs some of the product. The finished look is much better in my opinion. So I use my little wedge sponge from CVS and dab it on, patiently, sheer where I like it sheer and a little more where I need more coverage like over my redness. AMAZING. Truly amazing. I'm just hoping these results last because I have the experience that sometimes a great product will turn on you after a few months and it's back to square one. But if this foundations stays this way, I will be committed to it for life! I highly recommend it if you are like me, with very sensitive skin, rosacea that flares up with anything, if you live in a warm climate and want something that covers without caking on, and if you have a hard time matching colors to your skin. I found a great color match and so far this foundation is worth the hefty price tag. If you want to really splurge, get the La Mer Concetrate too (or convince the SA to give you a sample) as it miraculously cleared up all my little rosacea bumps literally overnight.

Ah, finally a foundation which actually does what it says, the feeling of absolutely no foundation at all. It feels really nice and dewy on the face and doesn't leave my face in a sticky mess after application. I use about half a pump for my entire face to cover mild imperfections. The best thing about this foundation is that it helps with my combination T-zone and doesn't melt off in the hot and extremely humid Singapore weather. The colour shade suits me well (I'm wearing Ivory and it's very close to my neck shade). TBH, it's a foundation which makes me not want to remove my makeup when I get home immediately, unlike other foundations I've tried which leaves a "foundation feel" on my face after 8 hours of wear.
The downside has definitely got to be the price but I would rather not stinge on finding a cheaper foundation if it does not give me the same results and feel of this La Mer foundation. Would definitely rebuy this if I ever run out.

This is a really nice foundation. When applied by the CDLM sales lady, using the CDLM foundation brush in store, it felt really heavy and dewy. She was then nice enough to give a sample to try and when i got home i re-applied lightly using my Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki and i instantly fell in LOVE with this foundation. Felt silky and smooth with great coverage, not heavy at all, a little dewy but a nice feel. The staying power is quite good last 6-8 hours without budging and controls the oil on my t-zone. Overall i would buy again but at £65 a bottle, its rather pricey, however it does contain CDLM's 'Miracle Broth' formula in it hence it being a treatment foundation. So i would buy again if i had the spare cash. I usually swap and change with other foundations and use this one as a special treatment a couple times a week.

This is a lovely foundation. I would not be able to convince myself to purchase full size but I do have a sample of this. I am in no. 4 shade, neutral and I have medium-dark skin color. I wore it over my moisturizer and I find it to be a bit heavy or dewy. But it gives full coverage and a glow to your face. I tried it again; I put moisturizer, waited 2-3 minutes, wore it with the Real Techniques Stippling brush. It looked great, but a bit too dewy, again. I then knew that I had to top this with a powder ( its summer) or bronzer. Tried the Skinn contour and highlight palette over this plus lipgloss and va-voooom, my face looked flawless, airbrushed and perfect! Absolutely perfect finish...I might try this foundation without powder in winter.

This is my HG foundation. I have combo skin and i can wear this all year round. It really has a nice medium coverage that looks so natural on me. When my skin is a little better i wear a sheerer foundation but my skin right now has some pigmentation problems and this covers them enough to make my skin look smooth and even and inbtwn dewey and glowy, even if some of the damage comes through. It actually makes my skin look like it has nice qualities, even though it actually has large pores and is a very uneven skintone. The very unfortunate thing is that i have to mix 2 colors to get the right color (sand for the super yellowness and tan to darken it just a bit) and at $95 a bottle, well,... I also love that it lasts all day for me and never oxidizes.

This is my 'healing' foundation. Every once in a while my face is uptight. On my cheeks, mostly my left one, are some blackheads and a few breakouts. When i've, tried to, remove them, my face is red and bumpy. Just not how i like to see my face lol. Then i start using this foundation. After a day, 2 at the most, i can see a huge difference to my face. Bumps are almost gone and it just heals my face.I don't use it every day cause i think it's too expensive for that but when i need it, it's right there, my little savior! Oh, i have this in the color creme. Perfect match, i'm nw20/25 in MAC.

this foundation covers covers wonderfully. i have very dry skin because i used to be on accutane, i also have a lot of sun spots on my face since i am very fair, and dark circles around my eyes, by my nsoe and mouth. this foundation covers it all without making it look overdone or cakey.it's quite natural tho i find it does have quite a bit of coverage. it stays on very very well. the only complaint i have is that it's not like the Perfekt gel foundation in relation to being able to wear well while im working out (not very breatheable), but i guess that would be expecting too much from such a great covering foundation (Perfekt does not cover as well). my skin definately looks great in it tho, and i love the fact that it has no fragrance

I should've just went home with the sample the SA gave me. I am very fortunate that they do returns (most of the time) at Holt Renfrew. This foundation didn't match well and it showed dry spots all over my face. I thought if it was a "treatment" foundation that it would also give a bit of moisture as well but it doesn't. Hard to blend, flakes and covers terribly.

I will do pretty much anything short of selling my soul to keep myself in this foundation now that I've discovered it. I've always loved La Mer products but had never (for some inexplicable reason) tried their foundation. Makeup heaven.
I have a few fine lines and pores that tends to look like caverns without fastidious care. Even with the best primer, about midday all foundations seem to settle into every fine line and every pore, making me look like a teenager with an oil slick brushed onto my face. I had pretty good luck with the new CoverGirl "Ageless" foundation but still, toward the end of the day, pretty heavy touch-ups were required.
Then I stumbled upon this masterpiece from the goddesses. I used it for the first time yesterday and literally kept looking as closely as possible into my bathroom mirror to make sure my line-free, poreless skin wasn't a hallucination. It stayed on to perfection literally until I finally gave in and washed it off about 3 a.m. No oily breakthrough, and my skin felt like silk.
The color range is a bit limited but it blends so perfectly with a foundation brush that the #2 (natural) was a perfect match to my skin. In fall, I could probably even get away with the #1 (porcelain) but for right now the #2 is perfect.
How much do I love this foundation and how far am I willing to go to make sure my face never, EVER has to be without it again? I'm an extra shift this week just to get the money to buy the full-sized bottle, LOL!

Almost HG! I love this foundation, however I do not wear it daily. Here's some background on my skin: I have dry-combination skin with dry to very dry cheeks and oily to very oily T-zone. I don't have much blemishes, just a pimple here and there occasionally. Oh, and I have rosacea :(. I am an NC20/25 with neutral/yellow undertones.
Pro's of La Mer Treatment Fluid Foundation:
- Extremely lightweight
- Looks very natural (like second skin)
- Nice packaging
- Come's with a pump
- Will not cake (no matter how many pumps you apply)
- Sheer to medium coverage
- Photographs really well!
- Doesn't break out
Con's of La Mer Treatment Fluid Foundation:
- Very expensive (it retails for 70 euros in the Netherlands)
- Limited color range in the Netherlands
- Sheer to medium coverage
So this foundation is sheer to medium coverage. I addressed this both as a pro and con. Why? Normally I'm more into full coverage foundation due to my rosacea. However, I really like the effect that you get with this foundation. It's like second skin and you can't really tell that I'm wearing foundation. This foundation does not cover my rosacea very well (I still need to use concealer etc.). Furthermore, the color range in the Netherlands is very bad. I was matched Natural, this is the second lightest color here. This color has reddish undertones which is perfect for when I have a tan! The lightest color Cream was too light for me. Anyway, this foundation will not cake (allow some time to settle in though) and it photographs really nicely! This foundation is suitable for those with clearer skin and drier skin. Oily skin might become too shiny as it has right-reflective ingredients in it. I adore this foundation but I will continue the search for my true HG.

I bought this foundation about a month ago. I am currently using tretinoin, so I needed a foundation that would not dry out my skin. This foundation gives sheer to medium coverage. I apply it with my fingers as I find brushes causes streakiness, sometimes I will buff over with a big brush to give that airbruch effect. This foundation is quite rich, which does not prevent any oil from surfacing. I dont mind my skin going a bit shiny, as it is healthy, but I always have to blot once or twice a day. I do sometimes still use my YSL teint resist foundation over this one as it gives more of a matt effect. But the La Mer on its own is pretty good too. It has not caused any breakouts and I love wearing this foundation and use the La Mer transluscent powder over the foundation to give me a flawless finish. I have not come across any La Mer products that I dont' like or that causes breakouts, so thumbs up here again! P.S. I do think this foundation is going to be fab in the winter, as its pretty hot and humid at the moment, but it does manage to stay on my face all day which is great!
One strange thing I noticed...when I went to the gym with makeup on, I usually sweat it off. I found with this foundation and powder on top, you can see Im sweating with makeup on, but if I dont touch my face and let it dry my makeup looks good again!Very weird, but great for when I walk to work and work up a sweat!

She tried it on my hand!!! Not even on my face??wtf. So she matched me way to dark and there's no coverage at all very dissapointed. Will be trying the creme and update.

When I first tried this out, I was unsure, thinking it was a bit heavy/cakey for my taste. Turns out, I was applying it all wrong. I was using a sponge and using waaaay too much product. I also tried applying it with my fingers and it looked extremely thick and cakey. I now use it with La Mer's amazing foundation brush and I need no more than two small drops to cover my whole face — which looks flawless afterward. My only suggestion is that you apply it on well-moisturized skin. At $85 it's beyond pricey, but a bottle will last forever if you apply it properly.
