Expensive and the most useless sunscreen i've ever used! It goes on flaky with white flakes, doesn't absorb and it just a mess everywhere on my face, hate it to the core, can't believe there are good review at all! This one should belong to the rubbish bin instead of on your face. The only one lippie i gave is for the non-oilyness at all of this sunscreen, other than that, nothing else, save your money and get other sunscreen even though most are oily! Won't ever get this product again!

I love this product.
I have rather sensitive skin and usually get random spots after I apply anything on my face but I use this product because it provides me with adequate sun protection when I am outdoors. It has a nice texture and feels smooth on my skin after I apply it.

This was given a very good rating by EWR (Environmental working Group) 2011 best sunscreens. Although it is not water resistant, it is a very effective and safe sunscreen to use. So far I've been using this for 2 weeks, and it is easy to apply and remove - and it doesn't give me whiteface. As I have medium to tan skin, so many of the natural/safe sunscreens containing zinc oxide do. The finish is also on the matte side and it doesn't dry out my face, though I think I did get a little bit of a breakout from this near my hairline - can't be sure it's this though. It's been very hot in NYC and that could be it as well.
EDIT: 7/2012 - still works fine, but I just went to EWR to select more body sunscreens and saw that this has been downgraded from a decent 2, to a 3. When I first reviewed, this was the only mass available one that is cross referenced on MUA as a good everyday facial sunscreen, but now there are a few new ones that i will try because of this.

No question that it is a very good sunscreen. However, It balls up something fierce, especially if you use the Obagi Nu-Derm products required before this sunscreen layer. Foundation after this is a mess. If you used tretinonin the night before and this in the morning, your face will look like white terrycloth. To reduce this effect, use only a very small amount and don't rub in too much. Come on Obagi fix this problem for us. Also, it is very difficult to get the remainder of the product out of the tube when it is almost finished. Just cut open the tube and store in a ziploc bag and scoop out with your fingers and reseal the bag. Obagi please note - a pump would be alot better. For the price we pay, we want ALL the product we paid for.

I'm very particular with sunscreen. Sunscreens I've come across, (from dirt-cheap to high-end) will cause breakouts, leave me looking white, cause pilling, and my biggest gripe, more oily. My search for my HG sunscreen has finally ended with this product. I am very impressed. So far, it has met my standards and has exceeded all my expectations. Granted, it has left my skin still oily BUT very little AND only after maybe 8-10 hrs w/o any blotting. Plus, I live in Hawaii so there's no escaping humidity. I do agree with another reviewer, blend well or you'll get white patches. I think pilling depends on what type of moisturizer you use. Thankfully, it works well with my Skinceuticals Daily Moisture.

Unfortunately, I don't share the same love for this product as previous reviewers. I don't even use this sunscreen on my face anymore. The reason being that this sunscreen "pills"...as in as I spread it onto my skin, it balls up into little flakes which is highly unattractive on my skin. I only use this on my neck now just to use it up. I'm not sure what's so special about it.

HG sunscreen! I love this stuff. I have melasma so I have to be really careful not to use SS's with too many chemicals in them. I have tried La Roche Posay, Neutrogena, Aveeno, and many others that have caused more darkening of my spots. SS's that are way too natural like UV Naturals (I used the old super greasy formula) was like smearing vaseline on my face, OR the spf factor was way too low, like 15 or 20.
Thank you MUA for recommending Obagi SS! I would've never tried it otherwise. It goes on really clear, it's light in texture, and melts into skin, although you have to really blend it in, b/c I noticed a few areas still white if I didn't blend in well enough. Makeup goes on very nicely over it, and although I can't say I've been out in the hot sun with it on, I haven't seen any real darkening since summer is here. It cost me $26 on ebay with free shipping. It's expensive, but a really good quality SS. I will repurchase again and again.

I bought this highly priced sunscreen after reading the wonderful reviews and I am highly disappointed. It makes my skin so incredibly oily that my make-up (Lancome Tient Idole, which only comes off with soap and water) melts off. What a disgusting, overpriced product.

Best sunscreen I have ever used. Usually sunscreen makes me break out. This is soft and goes on like moisturizer and blends in well. It is my GH sunscreen.

I use this with my Obagi C-RX system line and am very happy with it. It provides a light moisturizing effect to my skin. Even though it goes on white, it sinks in and turns clear after about 5 minutes. It is a good matte base for my make up foundation. It doesn't have an unusual or unpleasant scent. Even though its expensive, as Obagi tends to be, I feel that its worth the price as the product is effective lasts a long time. Its easy to extract the product with no mess. I plan on buying again and again as needed.

Best sunscreen ever! Doesn't break me out or leave me shiny. Sunscreen is the #1 way to ward-off wrinkles... I will use this for the rest of my life! I am not even interested in trying other sunscreens (and that means a lot cuz I'm a total product junkie)!

This is my favorite sunscreen, been using for about 8 months. I have not experienced any breakouts or skin reactions with this product. Does leave some white if not rubbed in enough, especially around my eyebrows. Have had no problem pilling under makeup. I still wear a hat because of my melasma. I think its a good price for amount. Not especially easy to find, I purchase it from Amazon.

Active Ingredients: Octinoxate 7.5%, Zinc Oxide 9%
Inactive Ingredients: Butylparaben, Cetearyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Diethanolamine Cetyl Phosphate, Disodium Edetate, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Isopropyl Palmitate, Laureth-7, Methylparaben, Octyl Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylamide, Polyether-1, Polysorbate 60, Propylparaben, Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Triethoxycaprylyisilane.
Octinoxate is an organic compound that is an ingredient in some sunscreens and lip balms. It is an ester formed from methoxycinnamic acid and 2-ethylhexanol. BONUS: It is also used to reduce the appearance of scars. One study showed estrogenic effects in laboratory animals at concentrations close to those experienced by sunscreen users.
I can't really add anything that other's haven't already said.

so... all sunscreens break me out... i went on the ultimate search for something that wouldn't. And THIS didn't! Typically i break out within a day or two but I haven't with this. Plus it doesn't leave me greasy at all!!!I have very fair skin and wore this while in the mountains where I usually burn badly... the coverage wasn't perfect but will definitely take the trade off of a little sun, to breaking out.

hands down. best sunscreen EVER. i have acne prone skin and this does not make me break out or get oily/white face. i love this sunscreen and will never, ever buy another brand. i have used many over the years and they have been all so horrible (breakouts) that i gave up wearing sunscreen just because of that. now i dont have to hide under hats anymore! this stuff goes on smooth and absorbs quickly and doesnt leave a white cast. i love obagi!

I was excited to learn that Obagi products could be purchased somewhere else than at a dermatologist office! I have recently started using Retinol on my already fair skin and was advised to bump up my SPF protection. I live in Florida so I knew that I was going to need something effective that wouldn't clog up my already oily skin.
I love that this product is basically fragrance free! I cannot stand the smell of sunscreen and was willing to pay a little more for this product because it doesn't stink! it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a shiny mess on my face. My only recommendation is that you not spend a lot of time rubbing it in....it tends to "pill" a litte bit.
Overall I'm very happy with this product and will be purchasing when the tube runs out......which won't be for a while though b/c you get a good amount for the price!

For me, buying sunscreen is very difficult. I can never find the right thing that doesn't cause almost more trouble than it is worth.
I had been searching for a daily sunscreen to replace the product I was using after I found it to have several hazardous ingredients. I did not want to use something on my face EVERY day that had cancer-causing items in it.
During my research to find a SAFE and effective sunscreen, I came upon the Obagi C-Sunguard SPF 30 and thought I would give it a try.
I have extremely sensitive skin that breaks out at the drop of a hat, and now that I am getting - ahem - a bit older, I also need a product that will not be greasy or settle into my fine lines under make-up.
I have been using it daily now for about a month, and my skin has never looked better! The formula glides on easily without stinging or that annoying "pilling" that some higher-SPF sunscreens do. It's silky and non-greasy, and my make-up goes on easily over it.
I could not be happier, and I am going to look at obtaining some of the other items from the Obagi-C system.

The first week I use this product, I couldn't believe how good it is. No clogged pores, no oily t-zone, no oil-spilling pores- just nice, even, smooth skin. The best primer too with no heavy residue that is budget-friendly. But because I have been taken in the past by other s/s that were good but eventually turned hateful, I waited 4 months to see if my feelings will change about Sunguard.
And my feelings are still the same. I loooooooove it.
I am officially ditching Clarins UV 40 for this baby.

I love this sunscreen. Traditionally I have very sensitive skin and most sunscreens cause clogged pores, oily skin, or outright irritation. This, however, is light and fragrance free, plus it does not contain any "-cone" ingredients which usually cause me extra grief. I like that it is moisturizing but does not leave an oily film or heavy feeling. It applies well over other moisturizer and I don't have any issues wearing MAC Studio Fix Fluid or BE foundations over this product. It does leave a little bit of a white cast when you apply it, but that's caused by the Zinc Oxide mineral sunscreen, which is a better protectant than chemical versions alone.
Yes I will repurchase. You can get 20% off this product at www.skincarerx.com by using coupon code MUA20.

I used to use Shiseido sunscreen (SPF 55+ cream), but one day, it just got too heavy for me. Obagi C-Guard SPF 30 is a great alternative. It's much lighter (in both weight and smell) and does a great job protecting my skin from the sun. No shine whatsoever. I have to be careful not to put too much on at once, though; my face looks rather ghostly if I do. But in small, additive amounts, I do not suffer from a white cast! Also has vitamin C for free radical protection!
(I also recommend Procyte SPF 30 for an even lighter weight, albeit ever so slightly shinier, product.)
