I hate to bring down the rating... but this looks horrible on NC20 skin! It turned red on my face. Not a flattering shade of "I've just been out in the sun exercising" red, but the 1997 brick red that everyone was wearing on their lips kind of red. And that's really gross. I can't contour with it and I can't put that kind of color on my eyes either. Maybe my skin is just too yellow for it? I don't know. I wanted to love this product but it looks TERRIBLE.
The only pro about this is how smoothly it goes on the face. It has great texture and color payoff... just wish it had less red in it. Urgh.

So the first time that I used this, I did not like it at all. Now that I am using it with the BE original foundation, I am in love. I am NC30 but perhaps not as yellow as MAC categorizes my skin. I wear BE original in Medium Beige, which is a neutral shade. This on top makes my skin glow... Not too shiny or greasy looking. It looks like I got a great tan and my face is golden versus appearing muddy or dirty. It does not cast an ugly orange on my face either. I have tried a lot of bronzers and my favorite had always been NYC Sunny but this beats Sunny. Highly recommended, especially if you are wearing BE foundations.

Love love love this product!!! I'm very fair and warmth just didn't ever do it for me! The faux tan has more of a brown undertone where as warmth was orange. It looks extremely natural and gives a sun kissed look and not orange cheeks!! I use this in the hollows of my cheeks, jaw line, temples, chine and dust it across my nose and it looks fantastic! I was recently at BE and a sales associate told me it was being discontinued but she had to have been mistaken because way too many people are in love with this product! Just a heads up!

I never thought I'd end up using a "bronzer." I hate most bronzers because of all the glitter that seems to be in almost all of them. I am naturally olive, and tend to get very dark in the summers since I'm lazy about using sunscreen. But now at my age, almost 60, I am trying to start taking better care of my skin, and have been using products that lighten age spots and even skin tone. So when I go out unshielded I end up undoing all that I've been striving for. But then I had this problem- sort of the reverse of a Farmer's Tan. My arms, legs, neck, shoulders, chest are all brown, but my face is several shades lighter. I was leery about trying this product, because many of the Bare Escentuals have a shimmer that seems magnetically attracted to my wrinkles. I usually use a very light consistency cream foundation or BB. But I decided to give this a try one day while at the Bare Escentuals counter.
It is great stuff! More matte than most of their original products, but not quite as matte as the new line. For me, the color is great- not too orange, not too dirty, not too shimmery-- just right. It made my skin look lovely when very lightly dusted over my foundation. I smoodged it down below my jawline and into my neck so as to diminish the difference in color between the two areas.Yea! It worked! So I bought it, and have been happy with it.
I found accidentally that it is also wonderful for making skin-tone look very even, and blends in areas where you have tan lines. When I wore a strapless dress the other day, I had strap marks from my tank tops. I fluffed on the Faux Tan, gave it a couple of coats, and voila, tan lines virtually gone.
I have now begun to use it routinely on my legs when wearing skirts this summer because even though I am dark, my legs have age-spots and uneven coloration. Faux Tan evens me out and gives a very faint healthy glow with NO shimmer.
The only drawback is the usual one with mineral products- it makes a mess. Can't keep that powder off the bathroom counter. But at least with this product, if some gets on my arms or neck, that's just fine. I just buff it in and look even better.

I love Bare Minerals, and I had always used Warmth since it is the standard bronzer. However, I switched to Faux Tan about a year ago and will never go back! It is much more natural than Warmth, less orangey. It lasts forever, especially when set with the Mineral Veil.
The best part is obviously the contouring effect. This product makes it look like I have amazing cheek bones, which I love.
Overall, a PERFECT product! And remember, you only need a tiny bit.

I use this product instead of the warmth to contour my face. Warmth is too orangey tan but Faux Tan is bronzey looking and more natural on my Asian skin. It doesn't break me out, a little goes a long way, and its not too shimmery or too matte.

Great bronzer that does not oxidize. I use a flat top brush to apply and it blends super well. It comes off tan, not orangey and does not wear off. I really appreciate the new BM packaging with a rotating plastic cover for the holes so I can travel with it without worrying about all the powder being on top of the sifter.
As a way to decrease bacterial buildup in the packaging, tap the powder onto a Kleenex and then use your brush to pick up the powder from the tissue.

love love love this product. i seriously an obsessed with it. this is my go to bronzer. the powder is sheer which enables you to build it up. you barely even feel it on your face. a lot of other bronzers have made me look cakey and break out, but Bare Escentuals is very light. i've never gotten a pimple from this product once. you don't come out looking orange either, you get a deep dark tan. i can't say enough good things about this product.
because it's a loose powder i tend to run out very quickly :( be careful not to knock it over or tap the brush too hard because it can get messy!

this has been my go to bronzer for about a year and a half now. at first i loved it.i thought it was very natural looking.for reference im an nw30 in mac.i no longer use this bronzer.like i said i have had it over a year and still have a lot of product left,so thats great.BUT,i hate the packaging.its annoying, messy and theres no mirror.i now think the color always looks dark and dirty on me,and is near next to impossible to blend or even buff out. it does not wear well at all either.by the end of the day its nearly gone and if im going out and want to reapply it,thers a dark muddy mess left to deal with.like i said at first i loved this bronzer and it was my first high quality bronzer, but i have come to discover there are better bronzers with better colors for my skin tone, that wear ALOT better. i will keep it in my make up drawer tho and revisit it in august when im very tan.until then it justs sits there.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! This is the product I turn to when I'm looking kinda dead and I need a 'boost'.This product instantly brightens up my face and gives me color.
It's a natural brown color, not orange. Not too much shimmer in it, more 'glowy like'. You can build it up but you have to be careful not to over do it, because it can get dark quickly. But it's very natural looking. Love this bronzer, must have. A+ ;)

I usually use warmth but decided to try this in matte and I'm so glad I did. This doesn't make me Jersey bronze like warmth but I actually like this more. Its more natural and pretty. It gives a soft glow. I use this all over my face and use a darker bronzer for contouring but I'm sure you can use this for both.. I just like a darker look. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is not long wearing at all.

This is a great color for my light skin-its not orange like Warmth was on me. Unfortunately this is what has been breaking me out. I have used this for almost two years for contouring and didn't realize this was what was causing it. Not huge horrible zits, but I was breaking out in very small clusters of skin colored bumps along my jawline and in the hollows along the sides of my face. I didn't attribute it to this product because I also used it along the top of my forehead and down my nose and never once got a pimple in either of those places. When I quit using it three weeks ago I noticed a dramatic improvement in my skin. Now the bumps I had learned to live with are all almost completely gone. I will avoid this product like the plague forever and ever!

I got a free sample and this is my all time favorite bronzer! You'll need the tiniest amount for the prettiest glow and warmth all over your face. It's pigmented, blend-able, smooth, and natural looking. I LOVE THIS!
Age: 25-29 Skin: Sensitive, Fair Hair: Blond Eyes: Blue
This is a beautiful bronzer. No orange tone at all, it's very olive and natural.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Medium Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
I especially like this bronzer when I apply w/ a light hand b/c i gives me a golden glow. Only bronzer that does not show up orangy. Awesome

I decided to get a "makeunder" from BE. I wanted to find something to contour my cheeks. The associate was so great and she showed me faux tan. I fell in love! You can easily looks like you have stripes on your face. So use a powder brush and a light hand you'll be good to go!

This product is great!! Love it so much.
But please be aware there is a REGULAR version and a MATTE version. I prefer the MATTE any day.. that's the one that Wayne Goss recommends :)

It looks very natural and nobody would be able to say you´re wearing fake tan powder. As with the rest of Bare Essentuals, you can trust this product and even sleep with it. This shade is much better than "warmth" which is very orange and dark. Instead, "faux tan" is quite the opposite. It looks genuine and doesn´t darken your complexion at all.

This is AMAZING!! I love it so much I want to stock up for LIFE. I have tried every self tanner that would make me orange or give me pimples. Bronzers were a hit or miss. This stuff gives me a fresh-from-the-beach glow and a nice smooth face. It wears perfectly over my foundation and concealer. No caking at all! I can reapply later in the day if need be, but the color lasts all day long. The day after I got it a co-worker said "You look great today, did you get a tan?" Plus, this is GOOD for your skin with no harsh chemicals. Buy this and put an end to your self tanning disasters.

I bought this product following the advice of 'gossmakeupartist' on YouTube, who suggested it as a great matte bronzer. However, only after buying it I realized that IT ACTUALLY HAS TINY FLAKES OF GOLD SHIMMER which can be seen under direct light (e.g. look at the second picture which has been taken with flash). This means I cannot use it on myself. :(
I'm not sure if I'd recommend it for contouring, as some suggested, I think it is much better for all-over bronzing, since it is very warm. For good all-over application you will need really good brushes and it can still be quite tricky. I think the best application can be achieved by mixing a small amount of this bronzer into your foundation (+ moisturizer) and applying it with a stippling brush! If you wish, you can set it with a translucent powder and even apply a bit more in 3E.
