St. Ives Clear Pore Cleanser with tea tree oil is my all-time favorite, HG face wash. It leaves my face glowing and radiant like no other. Tragically, this product is discontinued. I stocked up before it was gone for good, and I'm just now working through my last bottle.
In looking at the label on the bottle in comparison to some of the newer St. Ives face washes, I see that this older product boasted a Swiss connection. It also contains an amazing number of botanical extracts — more than just about any drugstore line. Nowadays, by contrast, St. Ives product labeling only indicates a connection with Unilever. (I Googled it and learned the St. Ives brand was bought out around the time this product was discontinued — it figures.) I keep coming back to the brand, hoping something on par with this product will turn up. But it has yet to do so. And I'm constantly let down. The current line of Swiss Ives products isn't true to the original in quality. They contain far fewer natural plant extracts, even though natural and organic products are more popular than ever now!
I wish the old St. Ives was still around. And I wish Unilever was smart enough to know that word gets around in these Internet times. Word to Unilever: Stop cheapening the St. Ives brand with your cost-cutting, chemical-heavy shortcuts. Bring back the good-for-your-skin, stuff-I-can-actually-pronounce ingredients that St. Ives was once known for!

I could not believe I have not reviewed this product yet. This is my face wash, right here!!! I have combination skin that I have been trying to wean off of the harsh chemicals of acne face wash for the last few years. For some reason my skin loved this face wash from day one, after I purchased it on sale. Since then, I have stayed true. I absolutely LOVE that one of the ingredients is tea tree oil, as I think that is what has given me such incredible results. I find this stuff does not dry my skin out too much (but my skin is used to medicated washes in the past), and it does not leave it an oil slick a few hours later. It does a very good job lathering and removing makeup. The cost of this face wash cannot be argued either, It is my staple!!

It's alright: it smells nice and isn't too drying, but I have to use it about three times a day to prevent acne at all.

i've been using this cleanser lately because i still haven't found my HG cleanser and i got it as a gift. after a month of frequent use (every 1-3 days) i didn't notice any significant difference on my skin. it does remove excess oil and makeup and prevent skin breakouts. however, it tends to dry my skin and i cannot use it every day unless i want to compete for the flakiest skin.
overall, it's not the best cleanser out there for sure, but it prevents pore clogging and is probably one of the cheapest reliable cleansers. i'll keep on using it until the bottle is empty or until i find a better one.

This was the best cleanser I have ever used. I bought it on a whim because I was looking for a face cleanser and this was so much cheaper than the other cleansers like Clean&Clear, which I didn't really like because they made my face too dry. It really helped with my skin, although I didn't really have acne problems, but I would still get some pimples. However after I used this cleanser I felt that my skin cleared up even more and it just felt so clean and refreshing after using it. It has been over a year since I finished my bottle and I'm so devastated that I can't find it anymore... Does anyone know where to get them??

I love st. ives products, and this cleanser, specifically. It cleans my face really well from all the day's gunk and dirt accumulating on my face. The one thing I don't love about this products is that it leaves my face a little dry, but I always use moisturizer after washing my face, anyway, so it doesn't realy matter too much.

I love the tea tree oil scent that comes along with this great product. In the morning, it really wakes me up and makes my face feel fresh and clean. Great price too.

I loved this before they changed it, and I wish I'd stocked up because the new product is totally inferior. I've been using it for a few months and my skin is worse than it's ever been - I've never broken out on my cheeks before but I've done so several times since using this. I rated it two rather than one because it's better than nothing, but only just.

The picture is different, but provided this is the one with tea tree oil...
But I can buy this for 3.77 (!!!) and I am addicted to tea tree / mint fragrances. I get the smell that I love (somewhat minty), non-drying, and effective... for 3.77!!!!
If they ever DO discontinue, I'm buying 20!

My neighbor's sister is here visiting from Germany, going back soon, and I am going to ask her if she can find this product in Germany. It is a shame. I used this product for at least 5 years every night before bed to get the oil, sweat, and grit off my face, am 60 years old, and people think I am 35, which is partly due to using St. Ives Clear Pore Cleanser. The smell is woodsy (the wisp of tea tree, I guess, but probably something else as well) like mountain flowers, and always put me to sleep with great dreams of hiking in the mountains or catching some great waves and good surf. The last time this product disappeared, I sent an email to St. Ives in Switzerland, and heard back from the distributor in the United States, which I cannot remember the name at the moment (Alberto?), but one of the big cosmetic companies. What I liked most about this product (aside from the enchanting fragrance) was lack of harshness, like most Clean & Clear and other facial cleansers, and it made my skin feel clean, healthy, fresh. Casting my vote against all the squeeze tubes that St. Ives has embraced. I do not understand how product research could come up with enough people who like messy tubes with air bubbles inside. I only have a few weeks left on my last bottle, having stocked up the last time there was an indication the product might disappear, and already contemplating suicide. Here I go. Now I am dead. See I am not talking anymore, just clutching my empty St Ives pump.

This is a really good cleanser. It did a good job on removing all the dirt and whatever was on my face. The only thing that bothered me was this weird film that it left behind and your face will feel a bit dry after you wash it off. but other than that it does it's job as a cleanser.

This is a lovely, reliable cleanser for acne-prone skin. No extra bells and whistles, and nothing amazing, but you can rely on it. Non-irritating, smells nice, inexpensive, and effective. Will repurchase as long as I can find it again!

Can get a bit drying if you don't moisturize afterwards BUT this cleanser is amazing. Cleans off everything you had on in the day, leaves a sqeaky clean feeling and no film (for me anyway) and it is really helping my whiteheads. I don't usually get pimples or really bad pus filled zits, just whiteheads and blackheads. This stuff has been a dream for my skin. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
only CON is the packaging. I hate bottles with that type of pump. I find it difficult as hell to close without product coming out when I want to travel with it, so I decided to put it in a different bottle for travel. but still my HG cleanser
EDIT: oilies seem to be at bay, the amount of shine i usually get within two hours, seem to be the case for 8 hours now. cool!

This was discontinued and then they brought it back differently. The first one had no SA in it (which was great for me), just had tea tree oil. So the formula is now changed, it doesn't remove my makeup as well as the old one. I do still use it though after cleansing off my makeup only because I guess it's pretty basic, and helps remove anything left over. It's like 4 dollars a bottle and I believe it lasts a longggg time. When I saw it again at the store I stocked up because I was afraid it'd disappear again, that was 6 months ago and I still have half a bottle of the first opened one left! I'm giving it a four because at one point this was holy grail, and if you prefer SA this is the cleanser for you.

Where are you, my St Ives Cleanser! I can't find this locally at all, it is probably discontinued. I started using this in my 20's and it really does just melt the makeup right away. I used to have oily skin, it worked wonderful for me back then. My skin is now more combination and it still didn't dry it out. It helped keep my acne at bay. Before this, I was using Basis cleanser and it stung if you got it in your eyes. Not St ives!
I just can't find it anymore which is a bummer. If you need something to take the makeup, even eye makeup off, have moderate acne and oily to combo skin, this was a great product.

This is the best cleanser that I have bought for my face. It really does the job and it is very cheap. It helps to reduce the oil on my face and it didn't break me out unlike other cleansers that I have bought before. I will definetly by this product again!
