This was my first ever MAC eyeshadow and to this day it is still one of my favourites. I have big brown eyes and sometimes the glossy or deep blacks really make my eyes looks small and horrible. So I figured the secret was to use a matte, charcoal black instead, and nehru fits the bill perfectly. I use this shadow in so many ways, mainly to create a smudge affect around my eyes when I don't want a harsh black line. I particularly love to use this on the outer corners of my eyes, applying it with a smudge brush on top of my eyeliner and extending upwards. It sets the eyeliner and immediately makes your lashes look thicker. Love it.

This is a charcoal, almost black...definitely not navy in the least. I bought this colour based on the in-store swatch I did, comparing it with Carbon and Black-tied. Thus, I didn't end up like other reviewers expecting a navy shade. I wanted something softer and more versatile than true matte black. I've done some very intense smoky eye looks with this and dont feel like I'm lacking a deep enough black shadow. I enjoy how buildable this is and it's fairly blendable on another shadow. I subtracted one lippie because it does go on a bit patchy at first on bare primer. In other words, when I use this shadow, I apply my base colour first, then Nehru on top and blend. I don't, as I might with other dark colours, apply the dark/smoky shade first and the light one later. Generally I save the very intense black for near my eyeline, and then top it off with kohl, gel or liquid eyeliner depending on the look. The fine powder texture means some fine fallout but I tap the excess off. Used wet, makes for a very nice smoky soft-edged eyeliner. Will repurchase because of its texture and versatility.

This is a matte black eyeshadow with a slight blue tint. To me, the blue-ish tint is only noticeable in the pan but when I apply it, it doesn't look any different from MAC Carbon. My main use for this is to set my pencil eyeliner on my waterline, which it works GREAT for. But I also use this to darken the outer corners of my eyes when I'm doing a silver/black smokey eye look. Although this works well for me, I feel that $14 is pretty steep for a plain, matte black eyeshadow. For much less, you could find yourself many other affordable alternatives such as NYX. I've had this for more than 2 years now and I still haven't hit pan. This will probably last me forever since I only use it to set my eyeliner with. All in all, a good product but by no means essential or HG.

I adore Nehru as a liner as well as to set the waterline's liner and this is fabulous for a smoky eye i find it works well with a bronzey smoked eye. A staple for me it's a shame it isn't more popular.

I thought this was supposed to be like a very dark blue black. To me its just black, looks to different than Carbon to my eye. So disappointing. Up for swap it goes...

I absolutely adore MAC eyeshadows, and while this one wasn't a favorite of mine for quite some time- I still found great use for it. I find that there is a slight navy undertone to this eyeshadow, but its only noticeable in direct sunlight. I never liked this for the crease or lid, so it sat untouched for months. After watching a few of Kandee Johnson's tutorials on Youtube, I noticed she always set her liner with a powder eyeshadow- I never tried tried this method, because it looked like it would be irritating to the eyes. One day I noticed my Milani Liner wasn't holding up so well on the waterline, and I decided to set it with Nehru and my MAC 266 brush. My eyeliner lasted well into the night without any fading or touching up needed- I pretty much was hooked on setting my liner and have nearly used up this whole eyeshadow on that purpose alone. I thought that something like NYX's Black eyeshadow would do the same job as this, but it didn't hold up like Nehru. This is pretty much a staple for my every single day.

I like the color of this shadow HOWEVER it went on horribly! I have plenty on matte shadows from MAC and none of then go on like this one. Doesnt blend at all, it ends up looking patchy. Maybe it was just that particular shadow? It was the worst 20 bucks ive ever spent at the MAC counter...

This colour I can probably give or take in my collection. When I first got it, I was horrified, because I bought it online, and in person it looked like Carbon (which i hate). But this one is different, and is much more pigmented than Carbon. I dont use it often, but it is a great quality eyeshadow. Perfect for a smoky eye look.

I have to confess that this product caught my interest after I read that it is used in Kim Kardashian's make-up. I really love her smokey make-up style. So I wanted to give Nehru a try. I have Carbon and i decided not to buy it if they are very similar. After i tried it, i saw that they are totally different. Nehru is just what you are looking for if you want to make soft smokey eye make-up.It works perfectly with purple and blue. I combined it with Shale on the lid and they are a good team :) However, if you prefer more sharp and cutting edge make-up then you should prefer Carbon instead.

This is one of my favorite products and gets a lot of daily use from me. Color wise it's like a more chalky version of carbon - so if you're looking for a good day-to-day black to wear that's not as inky Nehru is definitely the way to do. Unlike a lot of other blacks I don't have a problem with huge amounts of fall out with this one either - MAC's done a good job with the formulation and milling on this! Highly pigmented, easily blendable, anyone who loves doing smokey eyes needs to add this to their collection stat!

A lot of the reviews I have read state that this shadow is a dark muted navy/grey, but it is not. This shade is definitely black. It DOES however have cool undertones to it. It's not as dark/black as Carbon, but Nehru is still very dark/black. I love it because it's very pigmented and easily blendable. It can be applied sheer or opaque. I find it very easy to use it as a liner OR using it to mute or darken another eyeshadow shade. Very matte and rich looking. Probably my favorite black shadow.

People need to stop hating on this shadow as if it's supposed to be black. It's advertised as a "muted blue-ish black," which is what it is. It's not blue, not black, but almost blue-gray since it's so smokey and muted. It's a great way to do a smokey eye without full on black, or saving CARBON to further sculpt the crease as a finishing touch.

Another MAC eyeshadow somewhat bites the dust. Nehru is described as a dark navy color, however to me it goes on a simple, black color- I tried this on my lid and crease and its so horribly pigmented. It takes forever for the color to build and blend- I haven't had much luck with MAC eyeshadows, my NYX single eyeshadows work 10 times better and they are cheaper. However, I didn't want to give up on this completely, so I tried it on my outer lower lashline- and it works wonderfully for that :) since the color isn't to pigmented, I can pair it with lots of other shadows to finish that smokey look. Would I ever use this on my lid or crease again? No I would not- but Im glad it works well for my lower lashline....black liners tend to look very harsh on my lower lashline, and this does not- maybe its the slight navy tinge that helps (which BTW only shows up in direct sunlight).....I would not repurchase this.

Being a smokey eye junkie, this was destined to become part of my collection. Nehru is a deep sooty charcoal with a blue undertone. It's a gorgeous way to smoke out my eyes, looks great with a variety of colors, from Shroom, to Nylon, to Crystal and Crest the Wave. I love it for it's versatility, the color payoff, the blendability, and the pigmentation. There's no shimmer in it .. but it looks stunning on regardless. Definitely a winner!!

Gorgeous Blackened-Blue Shade. Nehru is a must-have for me. I do a lot of smokey eye looks with carbon, Black Tied, Knight Divine, Print, etc. So Nehru is a great addition to my smokey eyeshadow collection. It offers a more interesting, cool-colored spin on my favorite smokey looks. Love it!

I'm in love with this shadow!! i had been using Carbon with my 231 brush to line over my pencil eyeliners, and this color is just as good as Carbon imo. This color is black with blue undertones and it looks awsome as an outercorner color to do the "v" and as a liner color. I noticed that i don't get any fallout when i use it which is awesome! rave!!

I use to wear carbon e/s for my liner all of the time, but I switched to this because my carbon eye shadow broke TWICE!!! i bought one, and it shattered once it fell to the ground brand new, and i bought another one, and shortly after it broke too. Now i'm left with impossible to remove black stains all over everything. Anyway, lol, I switched to this. It has a better consistency. It's more powdery of a texture, as carbon is like sidewalk chalk. It's a deep navy, and it goes very well with my eye color to make them stand out. If I want to go darker, i'll just put a touch of black liner around the outer corners and under my eyes... perfect! ;)

My new favorite eye liner shadow! There is almost no fall out, especially compared with NYX's black eyeshadow. But I love this for a softer black. I usually use a soft grey shadow liner but wanted to go with something a bit stronger and this is IT! I cannot tell you how in love with this I am. I know I will be repurchasing this for years to come.
