I got a product with defective packaging (big surprise--half their products come in super-cheap cardboard) so I sent them a friendly email, asking if there was anything they could do. No answer. Sent another one, saying I would understand if they couldn't do anything, but a reply would be greatly appreciated. It never came. That one was two weeks ago, so I sent another one today saying I will no longer be a customer. It's very disappointing that a brand that presents itself as being so customer-oriented really doesn't care enough to spend 20 seconds to answer the concerns of someone who's spent so much money on their products. Also, if you type "benefit customer service" in the board, it's FULL of rants about how much they suck. I'll use up what I have, but won't be wasting my money on people who won't even do a minute's work to keep my business.

I adore the customer service at Benefit. There are 2 occasions that I remember in particular.
1. I placed an online order and managed to use 2 coupon codes. Well they don't allow that, so I got free shipping but not my free lipgloss. I was obviously dissapointed, but when I called customer serivce they offered to send me my lipgloss free of charge :-) A few days later my free gloss arrived (free shipping too!), with 2 more samples in the box to boot. Great experience.
2. Another time I wrote an email complaint about one of thier products (about how the new Ford palette is product placement in a product that a customer pays for). They wrote me back a nice, polite, personal response that I appreciated. And, this is the best part, they told me to name my faovrite benefit product or one i want to try, send my address, and thne they'd send me the product for FREE. No shipping, no min purchase, just a free product. I chose the Body So Fine and it arrived in the mail within a few days as promised.
Overall, I am very impressed with Benefit's customer service!

I too have had good experiences with BeneFit's cutomer service. I've always gotten shipments on time, and returns/exchanges are easy. I am willing to pay a little extra for products knowing that if I'm not happy, I won't be hassled about an exchange or return.
The only thing I'd change is that I tend to get the same samples over and over again with the shipments, but hey, that's minor - at least they're handing out samples!

I thought they had great customer service. Last week, I got a shippment in the mail full of Benefit products.. And they had a deal where if I spent $95, I would get 2 free palettes - the Hoola and Dandelion ones ($56 otherwise!). Well, they had forgotten to put them in the box (reason why they lose one lippie), so I called them up and no questions asked, they sent them to me that day, of course shipping was on them too. Yes their products are expensive, but I find them to be worth it.. you have to remember you're not just paying for the product itself.. you're paying for the cute packaging (ok, maybe Im superficial, but im willing to pay for cute packaging), and also paying for the name as with anything high-end. You have to remember that their products arent plastic surgery. They arent miracle workers, but I find them to be better than drug store makeup. Also, I find that I only have to use so little of their products that the higher price does pan out. Either that, or I end up using their products till they are gone (unlike drugstore stuff, where it may seem too expendible since it didnt cost much). Overall, I like Benefit a lot. Its my favorite brand.

Their products are over-hyped and underwhelming and their customer service is INEXISTENT. I ordered a Lana Bag from their website February 14, 2006 and I have not received anything but the runaround from them. Today, I called again and got a credit (apparently) I will check my cc to make sure it did in fact go through in a couple days. The most insulting aspect of this whole thing was being lied to about it being 'Canadian Customs' holding it up. I have it from a reliable source that parcels clear out of Canadian Customs in 48 hours. Ugh.
I will never purchase from them again. EVER.
UPDATE April 5, 2006 and I am still waiting for my order placed February 14, 2006. I got an email a week after I sent it, saying they will refund my shipping (a little girl on the phone said she was refunding the whole thing, hm.) but to be patient and not expect anything before April 15th because to keep costs down they go with a 'cheaper' carrier. Cheaper carrier? Two months? WTF? Is it coming by donkey? I am not holding my breath.
