I've been using Benzac for more than a year now, and it really does do miracles for my skin. It really is about how much you use it, and how much you put on, as if you do put on too much it will dry out your skin a little bit. I don't get very much drying at all (it's not visibly noticeable), and nothing that a bit of moisturiser won't fix. I wouldn't recommend using this product every single day because if you do, your skin 'gets used' to it and it doesn't work nearly as well. I use Benzac when I feel that my skin is going to/is starting to break out, and it makes it go away!

Overall, this is a wonderful product if you put a thin layer on your skin whenever you feel your skin is going to break out. It's about when and how you use it. If used properly, this product is a godsend!

I've been prescribed benzac ac 10 by my dermatologist about 1 month and a half ago and been using this ever since. I looooove it :). yes theres alot of peeling but it's worth it because it even kills the most problematic fat cysts in 2-3 days... it has a thicker texture then milk of magnesia but drys out the same way (leaving a white residue on your face). It is the best matfying, pimple/cyst killer out there.

Because I have such oily skin, even when I do not have a pimple or cyst, i smear it on my forehead before sleeping because if I don't I wake up oily, and VOILA I wake up matte.

Downside is you will always need to exfoliate, upside is your skin is clear and once you clean away all the dead skinexfoliating........ you have a beautiful glow (my skin is very sensitive btw and it worked wonders). :)

Ps. surprised how many reviews are on this product... surprised at my dermo for recommending it so late :s

i have repurchased this item 4 times before. i have never started on the 2.5% or the 5%, just because i use it in the nighttime when i am sleeping. if you wanted to wear this in the day (which you can) try the 2.5% and then moisturise and then wear your foundation or your make up over it. if you do this though, make sure you spot treat, don't lather it on like you would at nighttime because this will make you peel like crazy and your foundation go all funny.

the packaging is standard, when you finish the tube its hard to squeeze the rest out.

the price is expensive for a pimple cream, its $16AUD at the cheapest chemists. this is worth it though because you get a 50mL tube.

my skin peels when i do use this, but i exfoliate and i use my normal moisturiser and i don't flake.

it did get rid of all my comdeones and pimples and acne. kinda made my face abit wrinkly though?? i use tretinoin in the night tough so this counteracts it

Benzac dried out all my pimples, my skin use to be really oily and pimply but now it's all cleared up! Its great for acne-prone and oily skin because it works really fast and gets rid of all the oil, I wouldnt recommend it to people with dry skin though because it does dry out my skin at times, but i just use a moisturiser. I've also found that its helped with my blackheads. Great product, I'm using it now!

My skin went crazy for some reason, and as recommended by most people I started on the 2.5% Benzac felt that it did nothing so upgraded to the 10% Benzac. I can see slight improvement in my skin, however even with my ridiculously oily skin, this 10% Benzac has dried it out heaps, you need a nice thick moisturiser like Cetaphil to combat it.

I've used this product for a few days now. I have acne on my back and embarassingly on my behind. I haven't decided to treat it until now.

I was browsing through the Cetaphil website when I came across recommendation product (probably associated companies; actually found a Benzac 5% + Cetaphil Oily Skin cleaner gift pack at the pharmacy.)

There are warnings stating that you should use the 2.5 or 5% strength to start with. Since skin on your back and behind is tougher, I decided to go with the 10%.

The product is definately working. I can only feel one of my pimples on my back without straining my hands and I don't like spending time examining pimples on my behind! Anyways the one on my back has definately subsided.

So far my skin is not peeling or causing any redness yet. Again, it might be becoz skin is tougher on my back. I also ask my sister/bf who applies the cream to give me feedback as well. They say it definately feels smoother. I am not enthusiastic to apply it other than at bed time as this product can supposedly bleach your clothing. If it starts to peel or becomes very dry, I will apply the product, let it dry and then apply some Cetaphil moisturizer on top of it (funnily this is mentioned on the Benzac website.)

I had chosen this product instead of Proactiv becoz of $$ and also becoz I heard that once you stop using Proactiv, the acne just comes back. I hope continuous use of this product will eventually prevent it from coming back.

Summer feels like it is already here in Australia! I hope I can wear some strappy tops by Christmas.

Edit: I've used the product about 10 days now and my back has started to peel! I am using Cetaphil moisturizer half an hour after the Benzac application. Hopefully that would die down

Will update again in a few weeks time

i have acne on my cheeks and was reccomened panoxyl by a friend when i went to the chemist they had benzac which was pretty similar and about $10 cheaper so i tried this.I have used products with benzyl peroxide before in a clearisil treatment and found it dried my skin out so i had always been a little cautious about BP.i tried the benzac once and found yet gain that it dried my skin so i stopped and then the other day i thought id perservere and give it a good go.It stings my skin really bad for about half and hour then it becomes bearable and i found i was super dry in the morning, but i used it on the 2nd night and i woke up in the morning my skin was so sensitised i had a shower and my skin and neck were so sore and had gone bright red i just had to use cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser coz i was so sore but worst of all one of my eyes had totally puffed up it must have accidently worked its way to my eye(obviously im not that dumb that id put it near my eye :P ).anayway i went to use it again on the third night coz i was determined plus i was seeing results ,but no my skin was burning even after an hour my eyes were getting sore and my face was getting redder i had to wash it off and dont think il try it again.I dont have espicially sensitive skin either so although the results were really good the reaction wasnt worth it so i wont be repurchasing.sorry for the extra long review :\.oh and i forgot to say that i was only using the 5% BP not 10 like the other reviews

Excellent product!!! Haven't had a pimple in ages!! I use it in conjuction with drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day and it has helped tremendously. In Australia you don't need a prescription to buy it (but its only available in pharmacies). This product is a godsend.

I bought this when i saw it on the pharmacy shelf as i had heard that Benzac does wonders for your skin.

I used to have fairly congested skin with blocked pores and blackheads which broke out every now and then. After using this product, my skin has cleared up! my pores arent as clogged though im still working on getting rid of my stubborn blackheads.

This product has definitely improved my skin overall.

I have been using Benzac AC10 by Galderma for 10+ years. It is one of the most effective forms of BPO that I have ever used. It is by prescription only and is fairly inexpensive (if you have co-pay that is). I don't use it as much as I used to as I have been varying my acne-maintenance regimen; however, I used it continuously for about 10 years or so at night. It comes in a squeeze tube and is a white-colored, creamy lotion with some texture to it, which glides on easily and simply does its job overnight. It results in what one would pretty much expect from a BPO agent...minimized acne breakouts, diminished existing acne, and it provides sort of a protective barrier to the skin while it's on. It is a water-based gel so I find this a bit more gentle than others in its class. Really, this works the same as other BPO agents in that the benzoyl portion in this formula is a skin irritant helping the skin to peel and it also pulls the peroxide molecule into the pore to aerate the environment providing oxygen, which kills the anaerobic bacteria that tend to thrive in the pore...result --> clear skin! Over time, the peeling is not so visible anymore as the skin builds up a tolerance. This stuff has aided tremendously in my battle with acne over the years and it is a staple in my medicine cabinet. I also use it on my back and chest whenever acne shows up in those places and its performance is always A+! Good stuff for acne-control!
