I bought this for the oil control claims but I find it is mediocre in that respect. My t zone only stays matte for about 30 minutes after applying this, about the same as I would get from Coty Airspun, at a fraction of the price. Perhaps the pressed version works better but I tend to find lose powders easier to apply so I chose this. At the time, I didn't know the two versions had completely different ingredients. The loose contains talc while the pressed contains clay so if you're sensitive to talc, I'd pass on this.

Goodness Gracious! I can buy the Blot Powder again BUT when I do it's most definitely going to be the PRESSED Blot Powder!
I'm heavy handed and clumsy in general OK? I have this powder in the right color for me but in its loose form, I'm always prone to tipping too much out and getting it all on my brush. And then everybody, including family, asks me why my 'foundation's so light on me?', they say that my foundation color's all wrong for me, or rude people in the street say that I'm bleaching my skin.
My foundation matches me just fine (NC45 Studio Fix, Mineralize Loose Foundation powder Dark) because nobody said anything to me before I started wearing the loose Blot Powder! If you buy the loose Blot Powder please use it sparingly, not liberally! You really, really don't need a lot! These are not the days of powdered wigs and Marie Antoinette! Need I mention that I haven't touched that loose Blot Powder in a while?
I had a friend who's much darker than me who raved about the Blot Powder on her BUT she bought the pressed one. I think from now on I should buy pressed powders only, even though I never carry them around during the day, as the amount I put on my face maybe a bit more controllable then, in those cases.

I used this to set my NARS foundation. It did it's job of keeping my oil at bay.

This product was a waste of money for me. I have fair skin so i used Light shade which made me look too pale. It also gave me a cakey look even though i was using very small ammount of product each time. As for the "blot" part.... My T-zone was shining 1 hour after application. I used it 5-6 times and then just left it to dust. I'm not sure how much i paid for it, i think it was about 19ish Euro. I will definately not recommend it to anyone and i will definately not repurchase.

I bought this product at CCO so it was only $12 I think. But, I was looking for a setting powder for my liquid foundation. I really like this one. I feel for the money it should last a little longer. But, it does set very nicely and for touch-ups it works well. I also use it with a small concealer brush under my eyeliner on the bottom lash line. It keeps the eyeliner from smearing. It works wonders in that way. I am not totally sold but, I will use it until it runs out and maybe search for something else.

I have used up a jar in Medium. The powder is finely milled, but not as fine as other loose powders, therefore I've used up faster than I use up my pressed MAC Blot (but only touching up). This and MUFE #12 is only loose powder I have used up, and I bought MUFE #12 (translucent), and #14 (beige) since MAC Blot loose in Medium can only be purchased via Macpro.com, and I dont want to pay for shipping when I have MUFE loose powder that does exactly the same :)

I love my blot powder. It's a miracle worker, seriously. It almost blurs my skin, hiding texture issues, crazy I know. I'm NW25, and I use Light. It's a little too light, but after it settles on my skin it looks fine. I will say that use it sparingly, too much and you look cakey. I like a big fluffy powder brush, kabuki brushes make it too heavy.

I like this loose powder! I have very oily skin and this helps set my foundation, keeps me shine free and keeps my oilies at bay. I'm an NC35 winter and NC40 summer, and I use this in dark. I like it a lot. The only problem I have (and the reason I give it 4 lippies instead of 5) is the fact that although it looks light and it makes me look shine free, it doesn't feel so light on my face. Kind of cakey feeling after a few hours. Although it does keep my mu looking the same throughout the day. :)

Urghhh I really wanted to love this product after hearing about blot powder doing wonders for oily skin. But maybe I should've gotten the pressed version. The loose powder is terrible! At first it seemed to give me an overall matte look but after 20 minutes more shine than before seemed to be coming through. It was as if this powder was actually making me become MORE shiny! But still I left it on and after being out for 4 hours I removed my makeup and found my cheeks and forehead covered with tiny red bumps! I never get any pimples there so this really shocked me. Needless to say, I will never use this product again. What a waste of money...is it worth it to try the pressed version? Hmm....

The pressed version of this is my HG and when it was sold out once I got this instead. Thinking the shades would be the same, I purchased it in my usual shade, Medium. However, it was too dark and turned orange on me throughout the day. It also didn't seem to keep me as matte as the pressed version does. I'm back to using the pressed version, which doesn't oxidize on me and is easier to tote around with me.

I recieved this and the Shiseido Pre-makeup spf 15 in swap aroudn the same time . I thought it was the pre-makeup but it seems that its this product. I've NEVER had acne on cheeks. This product gave me tiny irritated bumps all over my face. It must be my senstive skin! Now back to trying the pre-makeup again.

I wanted to love this product so much. Afterall, the pressed version is one of my favorite products. But this loose powder came out streaky and put an orange tint to my face. I tried different brushes too thinking it might be a brush problem. Nope, it's the powder. For $21, it's disappointing. Will not purchase again.

I recently switched to mineral powder foundation (which I love) but I noticed my nose was getting REALLY oily and shiny (it never used to with my liquid foundation, weird I know), and asked my makeup artist at MAC to recommend something to cut back on the shine.
I admit I was hesitant to believe her, but this product is a miracle worker! Not only does it contain oil-absorbing particles, but it creates such a nice finish on top of my makeup! My foundation and blush have been staying put like they used to do when I was using the Monistant chafing relief gel as primer (but had discontinue use because I had an allergic reaction), and now I can't imagine my "look" without this product.
I've used BE Mineral Veil (which didn't do crap for me), and this is so much better, even in price! The biggest difference is that the Mineral Veil made my skin look drier (especially on my cheeks, since I have combo skin), while the Blot Powder gives a very nice, silky finish. I actually quite like the packaging because it allows me enough room to swirl my brush in the top, unlike the small lids that BE has.
SIDE: I'm an NC30-35, and my makeup artist gave me this in Medium.

I have this in Medium, and I love it! It gives a silky smooth finish and brings down the shine immediately. I don't have overly shiny face. My skin type is dry-combi with oily t-zone so this works great for me. I'm only taking off one lippy because of the packaging. Its a total pain to use! Someday I'll get the pressed version of this to bring out for touch-ups.

I wasn't even going to try this powder, as I am no fan of the pressed Blot, which I find cakey and not very efficient in controlling my oilies.
Then a nice fellow MUA-er sent hers to me, to try it, even if we had decided the shade (Medium-Dark) would not suit me at all. We thought it might work for me during the summer, if I self-tanned.
As soon as I got it, I put it on and...surprise surprise, I loved it! I had the DW Light Intensity 1 on, which is slightly too light for me, and the Blot powder instantly changed the shade to a perfect match for me!
Now I'm using the combo every day, and in the daylight you can see that the Blot is slightly darker than needed, but still, they don't look bad. Just like I'm wearing a light bronzer. Plus, the powder ups the coverage of the foundation, so there is no need for me to wear any concealer.
As for the powder itself, it hasn't broken me out, it doesn't cake, it doesn't settle into anything, I love it. I am considering buying the Medium shade for daily wear, as the Light I assume would be too light. It doesn't do wonders in keeping me matte, I still have to blot, but so far this is my favorite powder (and combo).
EDIT 6/7/08: I still love this powder. I bought the shade "Medium", and it works very well with my not-tanned complexion. I like that it also gives some coverage and helps even things out. However, I do think it gives me some pimples, because I haven't had one in a long time, but I've been getting 2-3 weekly since I started using this. I will keep using it though, because I really like it, until I find another product that performs the same but doesn't break me out at all.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm hooked on this product. Yes, it is messy and MAC is known for its bulky packaging, but they are also known for their amazing products. I have yet to finda powder that can survive a 10 hour workday but at least I don't look like Rudolph at the end of the day!!!!

Well this powder to me is just like "meh", I really dont see difference when I use this blot powder to set my makeup than with any other normal non-blotting powder, I have had this powder for a long time now, and I really dont tend to reach for it when I'm wanting to set my makeup, its really just a normal loose powder for MY skin, but maybe for someone else its truly oil controlling, or whatev, overall its a nice setting powder, but it does not have that "oohh this powder is nice, I wanna go get another" feel to it haha, I will probably not re-purchase since it pretty much mediocre-ish to me!

I am somewhat torn as to how I should rate this powder. It really does nothing to control oil, which seems to be the great selling point of this product. By noon, I need to blot ... The texture and colour (medium), however, are great. If I can find something that better controls oil, will not repurchase this. For the time being, the texture and colour will keep me using this powder. ***UPDATE***: The more I use this, the more I dislike it. I need a good powder to help minimize oil and this powder isn't it. Will not repurchase.

This is my first powder from MAC. It's not horrible, but it's not as great as I hoped it would be. The oil absorbing "feature" isn't all that great and it accentuates any flakes that I might have, making my skin look really cakey and dry. There are some good things about this powder, including the color match (medium) is perfect and the texture is great.
Edit: If my skin isn't flaky, this powder is great. It still doesn't absorb oil as well as I thought it would, but it's good for setting makeup. Up to four lippies.
