I have been using this for years. I have long long LONG, course, wavey hair and this is the only thing that works short of expensive salon/japanese straightening. I don't think anyone with thin hair should use this product because it will kill your hair. i suggest reading the review below by THREEMERMAIDS, she has good advice and i basically did things the same way she did except one thing - and i listed that near the end of my review. My hair is dark, the diameter (single strand of course) is very thick and i have an abundance if it - it is very hard to perm or color even after straightening--although things are easier because of easy straight. it makes drying time about 15 minutes as opposed to 2 hours of drying and ironing without this product. I don't really need a flat iron unless i want a really really sleek finish for special occasions. I cannot live without my easy straight and thank heavens for it! now my hair is what i have wished for--even on days when i don't have time to wash and dry! I don't use any other products after i wash and dry my hair. . . Only a good shampoo and conditioner.
ps too make things easier, I only nuke a little at a time so i get even results, i only do NEW growth. The oil is important to use the way they say to avoid damage (my hair is silky now) i just wish they gave you more of it or had it available as a separate purchase. I buy 2 boxes of easy straight just so i have enough of the oil. One more tip is i use a keratin straightener (by organix) treatment in between straightening and it seems to make my hair even more beautiful if that is possible! the keratin treatment is a treatment not the conditioner made by the same company-read reviews about that before you use it! Fumes are not good for you! and there are fumes!

I had really mixed feelings about using this product after I purchased it from Sally's. The reviews here are split down the middle so I thought I'd give it a whirl since i am so frustrated with my own hair that I was ready to shave it off (well, not really, but you know....)

FYI, my hair is semi-wavy with some curl, it is fine and rather dry and frizzy - the ends are damaged and growing out from years of abuse.

Anyway, the instructions are rather involved at first glance - advice....have a waterproof timer (or one you can slip inside a ziploc bag) you will want to set the timer immediately once the straightening cream is applied.

When they say to "work fast" they MEAN it. That is why nuking the cream til it is runny is so important. Just lay down a thrashed towel on the floor to catch the glops.

FYI, the straightening cream STINKS. It smells sulphurus like a perm so be prepared.....open the windows, turn on the exhaust fan or use it when you are badly congested to cut down on the stench factor.

The directions do say to apply it to bangs and lay them on a paper towel on your forehead. I did NOT do this, I just added my bangs to the rest and let it fall with all my hair....this gave me some extra lift at the roots, i think as i was afraid of bangs that would just be plastered to my face or getting the cream on my face during application or rinsing.

I decided to take a real gamble and NOT do a strand test. I chose the shortest processing time....3 minutes. Again, work fast - I think it took less than a minute to apply the straightening cream.

Rinsing in the shower was time consuming since the cream is so thick....I was worried that my skin would get irritated but it didn't. They tell you after the cream is out, rinse for 10 more minutes. This is important.....it rinses away all the stink.

Then comes the rinsing solution (I forget what they called it) Again time consuming but important you do it the full 10 minutes.

lastly comes the leave-in conditioner. I did NOT use the full bottle on my hair. I used about a third....I had hair just below the shoulders. After applying the conditioner, I trimmed my hair to shoulder length since it was already in need of a trim.

The end result was straight hair - it was a bit drier than before BUT that is to be expected as this is a chemical process. I think maybe a k-pak is in order about one week after using it.

My hair is easier to style now. I air dry for a bit then finish off with 1/4 the hair dryer time i used to use.

I would definitely do this again...I am countering the dryness of my hair with my own leave-in conditioner bars which are quickly making my hair glossy again.

I would recommend this ONLY if your hair is healthy to begin with. Too much damage might be a recipe for disaster if you get the processing time wrong. It will strip or lighten your color...I had used Surya henna cream a week before and it pretty much pulled it all out. BUT no worries there, Surya henna cream drips out every time you get water in your hair anyway....

****OK...about a week later....hair is softer - I used a glaze similar to Jazzing. It take 2 minutes to dry my hair and another 2 minutes with a round brush to get a polished look. My shampoo bar and solid conditioner bar, while they were awesome before work twice as good now. My hair is very silky and glossy where before there was not much gloss. In the morning, if I am not planning on washing, my hair takes 2 only minutes to smooth out the bed head. My bangs behave right out of bed whereas before, they needed to be wetted and re-dried.

I wish I had done this ages ago.

This review is for the ONE WEEK easy straight, NOT the 3 month system.

Overall:
I would give it 3.5 but I just rounded up. It didn't straighten my hair, but I imagine it would do a lot better for someone with wavy or straight hair as opposed to curls like me. It really helps keep my style and resist humidity which is my number one concern. I can also air dry my hair into loose waves if I want, without frizz or huge volume.
It didn't damage my hair or strip the colour. I would purchase again, using before going to the beach or something.
I took a lippie off cause the packaging sucks. The first and second bottle are too stiff, so squeezing product out is a pain in the arse.

Extra:
It's a bit long but please read all of it :)
My mom had purchased this a while ago, and used it once. She usually perms her hair straight (she has coil like curly hair, and blow dries it straight). She said it wasn't strong enough for her which I can understand. She said it didn't damage her hair.
I have curly hair that I hot iron almost daily. My hair is a few cm below my shoulder blades when straightened. When I let it air dry with straightening balm it's at my shoulders.
Both mine and my mom's hair is damaged and dry as we both straighten it. I also dye mine...a lot. One side of my head is far more damaged than the other (currently my hair is black, with a large purple chunk on my right, which is the more damaged side as I bleached it from black multiple times).
Onto my review:
I was pretty worried about using this after reading all the bad reviews online. I searched for a good few days. There isn't too much on my the one week system, just on the three month system. Most of what I could find seemed like endorsement.
This is only the one week system, so it should be a lot more gentle. I figured this was basically a perm that you straighten with rather than curl your hair.
I used Joico k-pak, and then a deep conditioner prior to using this system. While it says to start with washed and lightly conditioned hair, I took extra precautions out of fear haha. I would rather this do nothing than ruin my hair.
It smells bad, so make sure you do it in a ventilated room.
I followed the instructions exactly, and left on for 7 minutes as suggested for my hair. It does say to use the entire contents of the second bottle, but I did not. I used a quarter of it and my hair was totally saturated. I can't imagine anyone who would need to use the entire bottle.
You can either blow dry or brush straight and let air dry. I blow dried my bangs and lightly dried my hair just to help it along, but I let it air dry mostly.
I did see a difference in my hair as it was drying. It was drying more like it had a limp wavy to it, instead of the typical curls. I had to straighten it later to make it look nice.
It has been very humid lately and my hair would normally flip out and under in every direction, but it hasn't. When I flat iron and apply a bit of balm, it remains flat. I don't need to keep fixing it.
It didn't do any extra damage to my hair, nor did it strip the colour.
I would suggest this product to anyone with wavy or straight hair that has issues with frizz or humidity. It wasn't strong enough for my hair, but I'm too nervous to go stronger.

i honestly think this stuff only works for peoples with wavy to straight hair.
my hair is straight and i used this and it made my hair more sleeker and shinier and i love it, it looks almost dead straight every time after i shower. saves me a lot of time, because now i dont need to blow dry and straighten my hair... :)
however i felt like my hair was a bit dry, so you have to use leave in and regular hair treatments. but overall i love it, because it saves me a lot of time.
its $50AUD, so its pretty good.

I have used this product before to straighten my long, wavy and sometimes frizzy hair. It has worked every single time! I recently had my hair straightened at a salon with a product by Paul Brown <--garbage). The treatment was $95.00. (Easy Straight is only about $30.00) !My hair was as frizzy as ever one week later and there was a burnt chemical smell that never went away. I waited long enough to make sure my hair could handle another procedure. I did the Easy Straight kit myself just as I had before and I wish I had never gone to the salon! What a waste the salon treatment had been. My hair is perfectly straight and dries naturally in under 15 minutes!

I see that there are a lot of negative reviews for this product, so I'll share my tips for getting the best results.

For 3 days or one week prior to using Easy Straight, use a build up removing shampoo like Treseme, Nexxus or even Prell. Keep the use of styling products to a minimum. Do not color your hair prior to using this kit.

Purchase a suction cup type mirror for your shower that won't steam up. Bed Bath & Beyond or Linens N Things usually have this kind of mirror. Also, a hand held shower massager-type shower head is helpful, but not necessary.

The kit comes with an oil treatment that is not nearly enough. If you have long or very dry hair, buy 2 large tubes of treatment oil like Alberto VO5. Make sure you already have a good shampoo and conditioner for after the treatment. I like Joico Endurance shampoo and Rusk Marine rinse out conditioner.

For a leave in/detangler I like Redken Anti Snap and I also make my own using the bottle from the kit, distilled water, Ion Oil Free Glosser and Garnier Fructis Length & Strength mixed in a spray bottle. Sometimes my scalp feels very dry after straightening, so I use Carthame once a week with a heat pack.

Follow the directions EXACTLY! When the directions call for you to use half the bottle of oil from the kit, do so and continue the oil treatment with the extra oil you bought. I like to leave this oil treatment on for about 30 minutes before the procedure, but it is not necessary.

Get set up in your shower with the heated product and make sure your other items are within hands reach and have your mirror already on the wall. Proceed as directed. Keep your hair as straight as possible during all parts of the treatment, including your bangs which should be on your forehead. During rinsing, let the water run down the top of your head and keep your hair straight. Use the mirror to make sure of this the entire time. Keeping the product out of your eyes can be tricky but not impossible. After the very last rinse but before shampooing , just let your hair drip for a few minutes and comb it straight. Do this again after you rinse out the conditioner.

The key is to keep your hair a straight as possible the entire time. This is why doing the procedure in the shower is best. Try to do this kit during a time in the week when washing your hair isn't paramount. 2 days is best, 3 is even better. Also, don't try to do this in a rush. Take your time and treat your hair carefully. Your hair may be a little lighter in color afterwards.

This kit takes time to master but the results are worth it. I often find that I am even more impressed with the results the 2nd time I use the kit, 3-4 months later. You must follow the directions or it simply won't work. I am always happy with the results and I will never go to the salon for straightening again!

I didn't use the Easy Straight 3 month straightening kit, however I did try the Easy Straight long lasting frizz remover kit. I must admit that I'm normally a salon girl, and I really know my junk when it comes to cosmotology stuff. Anyways, all the frizz remover kit is a cheap protein treatment made of mainly fish oil. I decided to give it a try anyways, and I'm smacking myself in the face for this one. Problem number one was that it lifted color out of my hair and left red undertones...and I've worked hard to get the red undertones out of my hair, so that made me a bit angry. Problem two was that it left my hair very very oily, limp and unmanageable. Nexxus used to have a protein treatment out, called emergencee, that was $5 cheaper than this, and 10000x's better....unfortunately it's hard to find now. I guess I'll keep hunting for a better protein treatment....but as for the easy straight one....NEVER AGAIN!

This worked for me and I will be repurchasing every 3 months. I've fried my hair with flat irons and paid over $300 for brazilian keratin straightening, which didn't help at all. This worked way better than anything I have ever tried and I'm so glad I found it at Walgreen's, of all places. The price is nothing compared to the sexy straight hair I have now. My hair was wavy to begin with and I followed the directions and left it in for around five minutes. Afterwards, my hair had a different texture, it's hard to describe. But when I blow dry, it is pin straight. I love it!!

This is the worst product I have ever used on my hair. I had naturally curly hair (Hispanic with mid-back length tight banana curls, if that matters) and have used harsh treatments like relaxers, highlights and routine coloring. This product left my hair limp, EXTREMELY dry and dull. Some parts were wavy, some stick straight. My hair has been breaking for months now. I have been trimming away the lifeless hair and using deep conditioners weekly to try and get my hair back into shape by the summer. Even my hair dresser was extremely disappointed and can't wait to get my old, bouncy hair back.

By the way, I used the product exactly as directed and cut the time in half because I just want a looser curl.

I have thick, wave hair and LOTS of it...this product did NOTHING for me. I was so disappointed in this product. I did everything right. Immediately after blow-drying my hair, the left side of my hair was straight and nice but the right side seemed completely untouched by this product. It says not to wash for two days and by the time I stepped in the shower again, it didn't even look as though I'd treated it.
All this left me with is a damaged towel and a disgusting-smelling room. It smells worse than salon chemicals. It was disgusting and didn't even work. My hair is still as wavy as its ever been and its been around 2 weeks since taking this straightening system to it. I'm disappointed that I wasted my money on it and will never do so again. I even went to my hairdresser to see what could be remedied and all she did was sigh in vexation and hold up what was a sad comparison to my once lustrous, shiny, wavy hair...which had now gone dry, crunchy and just unhealthy. I can't wait for it to grow out so I can have my nice, neat hair back...I'll NEVER use this again. I followed the instructions down to the WIRE. Exact timing, exact placement and no added improvisation. This product just isn't worth the money and if you take the pains to read, you'll see that there is no satisfaction guarantee OR money-back guarantee. The hotline doesn't have a complaint place and they don't respond to emails.

I loved this product. I have fine, wavy hair with a very fine frizz factor. It's really tough for me to get that smooth look we all want. I have used this twice now over 2 years and I should have used it last summer too. It takes an hour and you must follow the instructions. I left it on my hair for only 3 and a half minutes and my hair is like a dream. All the frizz is gone and even in hot, humid Florida, my hair remains smooth and silky. My only advice is after you use this system, you do what the directions tell you, i.e., do not pull on your hair, use elastic bands and generally treat your hair gently for the first 7 days. I also would not use this if I had chemically treated my hair within the past 2 weeks, especially after perming or straightening.

I just used this product, like about 30 minutes ago. I had a perm about a month ago, and my hair looked so ugly and damaged. I wanted to get my hair profeshionally straightened, but the hair place lady said it'll take four hours. I needed something quick, easy, and cheap, and when I to walgreens, I found this product. I was a bit skeptical, not knowing what it'll do to my hair, but it turned out decent. Of course, not as straight as the japanese perm, but the quality is like getting my hair straighted with a relaxer at the salon. I like it, at least more than my perm. My hair has a natural curl. It's not out of control, so that might be why the product seem to work for me. My friend who has very very wavy hair had her hair done at the salon, but still, the end results were not that great. I will update later about the texture of my hair. I might even talk about whether or not it affected my skin, since I have sensitive skin too.

So months down the line, the straightener is still happening. I actually like the fact that this stuff doesn't make my hair look flat straight. My hair now has a wave to it and it looks pretty neat like I actually spent time in the morning doing my hair. The down side is, you will get split ends. After using it, your hair might get a bit stretchy. I pulled on my hair and it actually got longer. I don't think I'm suppose to do that. After awhile, the texture and strechyness of your hair will settle and become more rigid. I needed a couple of trim to get rid of my split ends, but still, I don't think my hair is suppose to be perfect from getting a perm and then getting it straightened. So, it was expected...

I have very thick, very curly short hair. This product not only left my hair super-dry (which is normally isn't), but also did not really lose the curl past the two day mark. I can't recommend this product to anyone. EDIT: I used this about six months ago and my hair STILL is reeling from damage.

This was my second time using the Easy Straight 3 month straightening system and I was disappointed yet again. I had tried it about a year ago and it left my hair in a half straight-half wavy state with much less frizz than before, but still not what I had wanted. I had just figured that I had diagnosed my hair incorrectly and should have used the time specified for coarse hair instead of medium hair. When I used the system this time around I left the Step 2 Straightening cream for the time specified for coarse hair (double the time of medium) and it still left my hair schizophrenic. The underlayers of hair in the lower head and by the neck are pretty much completely straight but the top of the head is still wavy and turns frizzy when I blowdry. I guess I'm going to have to flat iron the top layers of my hair for the next three months or so. If you want to chemically straighten your hair I recommend buying another system or going to a professional.

I guess I was the only one who had any luck with this product!! I used it on my bangs only. Worked great! A couple of weeks later, I used it on the rest of my hair (medium-short, very coarse and curly) but I only left it on for the minimum amount of time. Again I was happy with the results and I have seen no damage or breakage. Results last about 3-5 shampoos. I agree that is is time consuming and not all that convenient to use, but I am very happy with the results.

I tried the temporary 1 week straightener. I have hair that is curly, fizzy and VERY resistant to straightening. I have never been able to straighten it with a blow dryer and round brush. All I would get were VERY frizzy waves. After using this straightener, (While I still had lots of wave, the frizz was much diminished) I was able to use the round brush and a blow dryer and I now have straight hair for the first time in my life! I love, love, love it! The only reason I would not buy this again is because I plan to use a permanent solution the next time. UPDATE: After a few days I noticed that my hair is VERY damaged and breaking off!!! I can no longer recommend this!

Awful. Dried out my hair something awful and was not at all easy to use. A very complicated hair smoothing system. The so-called smoother made my hair limp and dry and it went back to wavy in about three washes. Awful stuff, avoid it and go with Phyto's Phytospecific hair straightener, a miracle product.
