This is okay, but not something you need to order. You can buy similar olive oil soaps from Whole Foods or any natural products store. It's just not that special, and it does have an extra-slimy quality that makes you feel as if you didn't really get as clean as you'd like, whether it's your hands, face or body. Probably good for someone with super dry skin and who lives in a super dry climate.

I wanted to like this but didn't. The smell didn't bother me but I couldn't get this to lather at all. It was just slimy. I bought Olivella's liquid soap and like it much better.

My HG!! I love olive oil. This is a mild soap that feels great on my skin. It lathers up nice and washes away clean. My skin feels moisturized after using this. I do find that it can melt so make sure to keep it in a dry place. I used to purchase it from QVC ($21 for six bars + shipping) but I recently found it at Ross for a great price ($5.99 for three bars). The brand also makes some nice facial wipes that I use daily.

I don't mind the light fragrance of this soap at all. It lathers well and leaves my skin feeling soft. I haven't used this on my face and prefer to use another cleanser for that but this is a nice soap for everyday use, especially on winter skin. It is a softer soap so you need to keep it from sitting in water and dissolving.
UPDATE: I had to stop using this soap because I believe I developed a rash from it.

I love this soap. I had been using Kiss My Face Olive Oil soap and liked that, but This is my HG soap. A reviewer said they ordered it from VitaCost and they were right- I think I paid $1.50 for a bar where at Drugstore.com it was about $3.50 per bar. It is a very mild soap. I also tried Soap for Goodness Sake-what I found that was odd about the SGS the soap is not green, it's beige. All the other olive oil soaps I've tried (and there were many) all were green-like olive oil. When I talked to the rep when I placed my order he said it was made with extra virgin oli, but when I received the soap- the wrapper said virgin olive oil, they don't mention what percentage of olive oil is in their soaps. With Olivella it's 100% virgin olive oil. I'm not crazy about the smell. Even thought it fragrance free it has a woodsy smell. But for how it lathers and softens my skin-my pores are much smaller and my face does not feel dry. There are 3 ingredents-Saponfied Virgin Olive OIl, Water, Glycerin (from the olive oil)-that's it. No artifical colors, fragrances, parabens.
It rinses clean, you can see a demo if you go to the QVC site but I wouldn't buy it there- VitaCost is less expensive. Another bonus is it doesn't leave a soap ring in my sink.

My favorite soap! I only use it on the body, and wouldn't dream of using it on my super dry face, but as a regular soap, it's heaven. I've been using this for a long time now, and even though I will occasionally use soaps or washes (Philosophy, First Aid Beauty, Fresh, Pacifica) I always go back to this. It's super gentle and doesn't irritate my skin at all. Some people say that it doesn't foam up as much as they would like. I can see that if you're using it with a wash cloth, it may not be as "soapy" as body washes. But I use it with my Salux beauty cloths and it foams up beautifully. I can imagine it would be the same with a loofah. I love that it comes in a fragrance free version since my skin tends to have allergic reactions to many scents, and the smell of the soap itself if fine. It smells like olive oil to me. Not great, but not awful. I find it to be sufficiently moisturizing, but I still always follow up with body lotion. For the person who is lazy about body lotion, this might not be the best choice, especially in the winter. For me, it gets me clean, but doesn't dry me out, calms down my sensitive skin, and the price is perfect. I get a pack of 18 on amazon for $35. Great deal! So glad that I found it.

I'm glad I tried this soap. I am only giving it four lippies because I was hoping to use it on my face and it was no good for that, leaving my skin clogged and bumpy. I really like it for use in the shower, though. I alternate using a bar of this and a bar of Epicurean Shea's unscented, and they keep the hyper-sensitive skin on my body pretty happy.

UPDATE: I think I may understand those who strongly object to the scent. While this soap usually has a mild, slightly earthy but non-lingering scent in the city water I usually use, both times I used it in the well water at my friends' house, it reeked like stinky feet both in the shower and on my skin. I had to scrub my soap dish and throw out the plastic bag I put the travel soap dish in when I got home. I think it may react badly with certain minerals to cause an unpleasant smell.

UPDATE: I'm not sure if they've slightly changed the product or if it's my chemistry that's changed (maybe it's the water here), but I'm demoting it to three lippies, and I'm not using it anymore. The icky feet smell that it seemed to only have sometimes, got more intense and constant, to the point where my whole bathroom and the hallway in front smelled of it. The scent also sometimes stayed on my skin. While it's still fairly gentle, I found that the chicken skin bumps it gave me on my chest increased in severity. Although I'm keeping the two backup bars I have in my closet for emergencies, I've been using River Soap Co.'s milk and honey soap, and I'm liking it better.

For all the ladies wearing Revlon Colorstay foundation or Estee Lauder Double Wear...this soap will take it completely off! Gentle and effective, I love it. Its the only product that removes all, and I mean all remains of a long-wearing foundation.

Better than Kiss My Face's for sure, more moisture, little less lather, and a little higher price.

However, my Soap for Goodness sake's olive oil bar is still better than this.

KMF oilve oil bar = 4.0
Olivella olive oil bar = 4.5
Soap for Goodness sake olive oil bar = 5.0

still, better lather than the best one, and less of a price.
i'll keep this on hand for when i workout, since i'm tired and need the lather right then and there. if the John Masters bodywash works out though i may not buy this again.

I tried this at my mom's when i was staying with her for a couple weeks. I was AMAZED at how nice it is! I hadn't used a bar soap on my face in decades (literally) and was too tired one night to dig out my cleanser so I grabbed this and washed my face iwth it. I have dry skin, esp. in winter, and this did NOT dry it out and cleaned it very nicely! She gave me a bar to take home and I gave it to DH to use in the shower - we have hard water, inspite of a water softener, and it leaves terrible water spots on teh shower. anway, I cleaned the b-jeezus out of the shower before I gave him the soap (and took the other soaps out of the shower so he'd HAVE to use it) and there's a lot less water spotting/soap scum on the shower!! I am totaly sold on this stuff!

Btw, you can buy it off Amazon.com, or off vitacost.com, for less than you can get it off QVC!

This soap is great because it is a very basic, no frills bar that doesn't contain all the ridiculous synthetic ingredients found in almost all other bar soaps. I order it by the dozen from Amazon and it is a great buy, considering we use it in all of our bathrooms and showers in the house. After realizing that the SLS in liquid soaps was drying out my hands during the winter, switching to this bar soap has definitely helped. I also use it on my face - it doesn't over-dry and doesn't break out my skin, and doesn't break out the skin of our two teenagers. However, it is NOT moisturizing, which is fine with me - I think cleansers should basically clean and "do no harm" (I follow up with a separate moisturizer as needed) - and this is exactly what Olivella does.

First off I want to start out that I am reviewing this as a body cleanser not a facial cleanser. I found this soap on the bottom shelf of my local harmons beauty discount store. I purchased it on a whim being fancied by the lack of ingredients (the less ingredients the better for my sensitive skin) I threw it in my purse and on my way back to work my friend who is a pro make-up artist saw it in my bag and shreeked! she was telling me how it makes a fabulous brush cleanser for her makeup brushes. anyways as far as the product I am in love. I use it with my eco tools exfoliating bath mitten and my skin is looking so much better. I just like knowing that Im not putting a crap ton of chemicals on my skin - I think this has a total of 4 or 5 ingredients as opposed to 20. After I use this soap a few seconds after I step out of the shower I notice my skin is tacky but I believe this is the glycerin ingredient drawing in the moisture to my skin. This has also killed some much more expensive lush lemmings (my friend kept telling me to try lush soaps however I was a little scared bc sometimes my skin reacts to so many essential oils and stuf) and whats not to love about this simple little gem of a soap. I only wish they had a matching moisturizer!

I really wanted to like this product. It is all natural and smells great.
When i started to use it, my skin was in a horrible condition and the olivella soap didn't do anything to help. My skin stayed in the same condition during the whole process. I was very disappointed.

This soap is great. It leaves skin soft and clean, not taut and dried out. It also works fabulous as a shampoo/conditioner. I was my hair with it, then add 5 drops of jojoba oil to my styling gel and my hair is so much shinier then it has ever been!

I hate to be the one who kills the wonderful reviews, but I did not like this bar soap at all. I bought it for my face after seeing a PBS special where a dermatologist recommended a bar soap to wash your face with. I had heard about this bar soap before, and decided to go for it. Upon my first try I was happy with it. It had a olive oil smell, and the green residue from the soap got everywhere, but I didn't mind. I thought my skin looked amazing. As a week went by, I noticed little pimples popping up around my mouth, and also this soap, if it got into my eyes hurt like Hell. I lost a brand new contact lens from using this (I prefer to take my contacts out after I wash my face, never had issues with other face washes before). After the first few of using had gone by, I became wary of using it because it was painful and because I didn't think it was cleaning my face well enough. I went back to my Earth Science Clairfying face wash, and tossed the Olivella.

It's been a week. been using it morning and night. At night, i use it to remove my makeup, (gets rid of everything..and i mean including my eyeshadeow plus mascara) and it's fragrance free which is a bonus cuz my skin can't deal with it. once tried their liquid soap with fragrance. burned my eyes!!!! but this soap is alot better than the pears soap. i bought it online but planning to find it a store nearby which will be alot cheaper than online. love this soap just wish there was something in a bottle. I'm just not used to using bar soap yet. Cuz of the germs thing.
