Very unimpressed with this range. I've tried both the liquid tan and the gradual tanner.

LIQUID TAN PROS:

- Very thin liquid texture, so doesn't feel heavy or sticky on the skin at all.
- Gives a light tint upon application so you can see where you've put it.
- Doesn't smell that bad when developing compared to other self tanners I've tried.
- Colour is bronzey and not yellow or red on my skintone.

CONS:

- Doesn't last long at all. I was having to reapply every 2 days.
- Can be quite streaky if not applied carefully due to thin texture.
- Messy when trying to get out of the tube because of the opening and liquid consistency.

GRADUAL TAN PROS:

- Doesn't smell of fake tan at all, even when developing!
- Very moisturizing.
- Absorbs ridiculously fast...within a minute.
- Non sticky and doesn't feel heavy on my skin.

CONS:

- Colour payoff is very bad on me. I can use it 5/6 days in a row and barely see any colour deposit. I can hardly see a difference.
- When I do build it up enough to see a slight glow, it fades by the next day.
- Pricey (for the quality, IMO).

I will not be repurchasing anything from the line. I think it's most suitable for those with fair pink/neutral toned skin. I am light and naturally golden toned. Shame it didn't work for me.

I am reviewing the He-Shi Gradual Tan which you can use daily to build up colour.

I am really sorry to have to say that I dislike this product as the first time i tried it i thought it was going to be perfect for me.

This is a light coloured lotion which sinks into the skin straight away and leaves no residue at all. As i fake tan at night this meant that it did not rub off onto the sheets - big thumbs up so far. It gives a nice even golden brown colour which is not too dark and looks very natural.

The thing that puts me off this is the smell. It is disgusting. Now i know that fake tan products usually have a smell of some sort and I don't mind the normal "biscuit" fake tan smell. However, it is not the fact that this product has a scent that bothers me, it is the smell itself. It may just be me (or the way it reacts with my skin) but the smell is really really unpleasant, to the point it made me feel a bit ill. For that reason i can't use this product which is a real shame as it is good in a lot of other ways.

I would say definitely try to get a sample of this before you buy it. If you don't mind the smell it is very good gradual tan.

Since using this i have discovered Xen Tan's Gradual Daily Tanner, which smells DIVINE - i could almost eat it. If you are looking for a good daily tanner i would recommend trying Xen Tan, it is the best i have ever come across by a mile.

I wasn't too impressed with this tanner tbh. The best thing about it is that it does not smell at all like most self-tanners, which I love! I find the liquid formula to be very messy and I usually end up finding on my walls, the floor, bedsheets...so I have to be extra careful with it. It applies pretty easily but I find I need a lot of product to fully cover my body without streaks. This wouldn't be a problem if the bottle wasn't so small for a pretty expensive price! You do not get a lot for your money's worth at all. It is drying so regular moisturizing is a must. The colour is pretty natural but can turm very orange if I apply 2 coats. 1 coat is really all I can get away with before I start looking rather orangey. The lasting power is terrible! When wearing He-Shi I have to top up my tan every 1-2 days which is so much hassle and like I said earlier this product is not cheap...but yes, it fades very quickly which I do not like at all. It's a decent tanner but I will not be buying it again.

At first I loved this fake tan, it made me super dark (although i did apply 2 layers of it..) and lasted ages. But then I applied it a second time and it went patchy super fast, gave me dry patches all over my arms & wore off horribly. I've just spent half an hour in the bath trying to scrub it off!!
I didn't like the mousse formulation much, it was a bit dry and didn't spread well.
Going to stick with my trusty Xen Tan from now on which wears off very well & moisturises my skin rather than drying it out! x

I love this tanner. I'm biracial with natural golden tones but I'm very light skinned (NC20) and like looking darker. This is perfect for me - I love the liquid formula as it's mess-free and blends so easily on the skin. I use a thick old sock to apply instead of a tanning mitt and it applies streak free with no hassle at all. It is tinted so you get an instant colour as you apply and can see where you've applied it. Best of all there is no biscuit smell! Even when the tan develops after a few hours there's no smell. I was using xen-tan and sunlabs before...this is soooo much better and less expensive too! Dries within 1 minute so I can dress straight afterwards (although I do wear baggy clothes after applying self-tanner). I usually apply 2 coats 1 after the other, and it gives me a really good colour. I go up to about an NC35/37 in one application. It does not look yellow at all...it's nice and golden. Lasts about 4 days before I feel like topping up and doesn't rub off onto my bra strap or anything even if I've been sweating. Definately my HG tanner, I will not try anything else again!

He-Shi self tanner is absolutely amazing stuff. It is a liquid which is applied with a mitt and provides an instant tan. The tan itself is a very attractive golden on first application but for those who like a deeper tan one can reapply to personal preference. It also doesn't smell after applying it, and doesn't come off on clothes after the first shower. The tan goes on very easily. Up untill now I have been using St. Tropez or Fake Bake - no more! It is quite expensive but no more so than St. Tropez or Fake Bake. Packaging - who cares? This is a product I will not dread having to apply because it is so simple.
