I used up the entire bottle but I didn't see any brightening effect. But that is not the reason why I will not purchase this again. I understand to brighten your skin, it takes a while. (One bottle of brightening moisturizer won't achieve the result)

I have normal skin. This moisturizer is not moisturizing enough for me. After using it, I started to have dry spots around my nose. That is the T-zone, which is not supposed to be dry. So, I don't think I will purchase this product again.

Summary:

Pro:
---nice smell
---brightened my red acne scar
---lightweight, not oily

Con:
---the packaging ( i love pumps, not jar)
---didn't brighten my entire face
---not moisturizing enough, caused dry spots on next to my now

I just recently started reviewing products on MakeupAlley, because I've only begun taking care of my skin/face and decided that I would give products a 4 month to 1 year chance before commenting. For this gel though, I could only try for 2 weeks before I started developing 3 cystic acne bumps towards the middle of my cheeks. I don't have sensitive facial skin and have only had one cystic acne bump in my life, which was a decade ago. I was left with two nasty scars that I'm hoping will fade away in the near future. Not sure what it means, but I suspect that this gel is not recommended for people with dry cheek skin, because our pores are naturally small around there. The molecules might be too large to absorb evenly. My boyfriend has extremely oily skin, and after a good cleanse, has had success with this product in summer moisturizing.

The only thing I liked about this moisturizing gel is the consistency and the light fragrance. I think this product would be best in a pump form as well. After my first use, I broke out shortly after. Thinking it wasn't this product, I stopped using it, but did not return it to the store. I allowed my skin to clear and two weeks later I tried it again. The same thing happened, I broke out shortly after again! So I can't say much if its brightening properties work because I wasn't able to use it longer than two consecutive days nor could I say its moisturizing. Back to the store it goes.

I wanted to love this but it was a disappointment. It did not have a noticeable brightening effect. Interestingly, when I applied this to my hand in the store, I immediately noticed some brightening yet this didn't really work on my face. Furthermore, the product did not feel like it was absorbing into my skin, and its moisturizing abilities were only average. The container is pretty and feels comfortable to open and close. The smell was a mix of chemicals and perfume - didn't love it but didn't hate it either. Overall would not purchase again.

Although it has SPF I can't use it during the day because it's very creamy and makes skin very shiny. I use it as a night lotion and when I wake up my skin is amazing. I can't tell if it really brightens the skin, but it conditions my skin very well and it's a good moisturizer...but it's definitely overpriced.

I have oily skin so this is too much for me normally; makes my face SUPER oily. But I've been having dry skin lately, probably due to the cold weather and drying products I've been using so this was perfect for my skin condition now. I really like it. It does brighten my skin and diminish my acne marks, which is a major plus for me. If only I can use it year round it would be a 5.

I like this product its really nice a light. The only problem i have with it is that its a bit sticky. It really nice make my skin feel nice and soft. I wake up in the morning with less irritated or dry skin. My auntie bought this for me from hongkong and i thank her soooo mcuh for it because it is cheaper over there.

White lucent Brightening Moisturizing Gel did not work for me. It has a alcohol smell mixed with White lucent's perfume smell that Shiseido has for this line. The texture is very light and soft. I put it on my face and it did not brighten me up. I have dry skin but this product made my skin oily. I broke out terribly from this product. Will never repurchase this again.

It is light and very easy to absorb. However, I don't see the brightening effect and I get breakouts occasionally because of it. Will not buy again.

This moisturizing gel is very light and it doesn't provide moist for my combination skin. It is my very first time came across dry and tight feeling after use. I tried to put more on but it is still the same. I wonder why use the word 'moisturizing gel' when it doesn't even do the job for a combination skin. Can't imagine someone with dry skin uses this.

I used this only a few days with the samples I received. First, I was surprise at the extreme irridescent effect it has. It does, whiten and brighten your face, leaving less shadows around my eye and mouth but there is the feeling of a film over your face. Although, I found the color alittle too unnatural, I had to add alittle bit of bronzer. I found you need to spread the cream quite evenly all over your face and neck, and quickly or it will cake. As a mosturizer, I think there are much better products, still left some dry patches. I will give it a try, wait for an update in the next 2 weeks.

out of the entire white lucent line, this is my favorite product. i chiefly use this as a treatment to lighten freckles on my face. my freckles are a little lighter. this jar has lasted a long time but i have to admit i'm not a fan of the screw top jar.

Not fantastic. It is very very light, I tend to put a big dollop of it to cover the entire face and still leaving my face dry-ish. It's probably best for somebody with very oily skin as this does not feel at all moisturising, I quite like having thicker creams for night time. Very expensive product considering it finishes very fast, about 3 months!! Will not repurchase.

I just finished this gel after buying it at the beginning of the year. It is great for summer use since it is so cooling but also hydrating at the same time. It brightened my skin and left it plumped. One major gripe that I have with it though, is the smell. I'm usually not one to complain, but when I first opened the jar it was like a chemical factory. It was awful, it was extremely strong. It kind of made me wonder what I was putting on my face. But since it is in a jar, the smell fades after a few months. That was the major deal breaker for me and I don't think I could handle waiting for the smell to waft away on a new jar. I give it 3 and a half lippies for the atrocious smell and since its quite expensive for only 40ml of product.

I got this as a sample when I bought sunscreen. I am very oily and acne prone. I can fill up a whole clean and clear blotting strip down to the edges around 2-3 times a day. With this moisturizer, i only need to blot 1x daily and I dont fill up the entire sheet, maybe half . So I love how it cuts out the oil. It goes on smoothly and absorbes nicely. The smell bugs me and I wish it had an spf. Overall a very nice product.

This is so great for my combo skin because it lightly moisturises and brightens the complexion at the same time. It never feels greasy even on my t-zone and my skin looks clearer after every use! A very small amount can be spread over the face and can be easily massaged into the skin. Whenever I use this, I never need to use eye cream because it's gentle enough to be used on the eye area.

This is an Ok product, using my 2nd bottle now, not becoz it is fantastic but rather becoz im a shiseido fan and thos is a very light moisturizer with great smell. It is really light and turns to liquid like once it hits ur face. This product only hydrates and do not whiten like it claims. Would not repurchase after this bottle.

Out of all the products in Shiseido's White Lucent line, the brightening gel is the most effective. Though, thats not denying that the previous UV white line was far superior in terms of delivering results, I would recommend this gel to anyone interested in slightly brightening up their skin. My experience with this gel was not the best, but I made good use of the product. Firstly, this gel is suppose to fade freckles and brighten dull, sallow skin tones. It is not, I repeat, NOT a skin lightener. It just takes your existing skin color and enhances it by giving it a healthy glow, so dont expect a miracle. It is also tailored for oily and problem prone skin types and should be used at NIGHT only. Onto the product itself...the consistency is a very fine, cool gel that glides on the skin with ease (you only need the size of a quarter for your whole face and neck). In my personal experience, I don't think this gel is worth the 50 bucks, its WAY TOO expensive and the results are similar to a drugstore brightener (i.e. Aveeno). At first, I loved the feel of it (no denying that) and it was great for my oily/acne prone skin, and I WAS seeing some brightening in the first week or so. By the second, I started to develop some tiny red bumps and I further realized this gel was breaking me out. BUT DONT let this discourage (I am merely telling you my experience) I HAVE annoying skin that breaks out to everything so, I guess I am a rare case because this product usually doesnt cause acne. It did for me, and I realized that the glow wasn't all that special, and perhaps the packaging and ingredients had to do with it. It is in a very a unstable jar, and its constantly exposed to air. Vitamin C should be in a "lock" product, in which you ooze the substance through a cap, not by digging your fingers in a jar. Plus, it does contain oil that probably caused the breakouts. All in all, this is an average brightening product, it does give a slightly healthy glow, but then again so does the Aveeno skin brightening treatment, and Neutrogena Visibly Even, but those are a fraction of the cost. I would recommend this product ONLY if you are a fan of Shiseido, or are using other products in the White Lucent line and are looking for a good quality night cream.
