I'm finally getting around to writing reviews on those lesser "hyped" makeup items I own. The official name of this item is "Professionnel Sponge Tip Shadow Applicator #27". This humble little sponge tipped smudge brush is such a staple in my daily makeup routine that it's often overlooked as review-worthy. But it is an amazingly simply yet effective little tool - I don't use this to apply eyeshadow as the name suggests, I use this to smudge eyeliner at my upper and lower lash line, or to apply powdered eyeshadow on top of my eyeliner. At first I didn't think I needed this brush because a lot of eyeliners now come with a smudger at the other end of the pen these days. However, what sets this smudger apart from those is that this one has a great sponge-like consistency, whereas the others have a more rubber/latex feel. I might be over analyzing this but I find the sponge-y-ness to be better for smudging both eyeliners and powdered eyeshadows to create a subtle smokey look - the rubber/latex smudgers seems to smear things around rather than actually blending them together. I've tried a handful of other smudgers (the Posh one in the little travel set, Annabelle smudgeliners, Sephora's waterproof liner, some Quo liner) and this one just performs so much better than all of them. The pointed sponge tip makes for precise smudging, and the shorter handle (5.5" total length) is great for me to get up close and personal to the mirror. The sponge tip is made of some high quality material - I've owned this brush for over 4 years and with daily use and weekly washings, it hasn't fallen apart or shows much sign of wear at all. I only recently bought another one so that I can have one to use different colours at the same time (now I'm thinking of getting yet another one!) The markup between the USD and CAD is still a bit crazy even though at present time it's almost at par - this thing is $5USD but it's $7CAD. Still, I like this enough to have bought it twice. Highly recommended.

I got this for 50% off since they are apparently revamping the system, and thought hey, why not. It's the best quality sponge tip applicator that I've had so far. The length of the brush is great, too. I like using it for blending my eyeshadow.

I don't know why the sponge tip applicator brush gets no love from anyone! I love that this has a long black handle (compared to other brands that have little 1 to 2 inch flimsy handles...this one's about 5 inches long) and the actual sponge tip is not ridiculously huge/bulky like some other brands...it's just the right size. It applies the eyeshadow evenly and it packs it on rather than sheer like a brush would. I bought my first one about 2 years ago and it's just now starting to show signs of wear. I absolutely love this "brush". I reach for it every single day and for $4 it can't be beat! I highly recommend it.
