This stuff is a miracle worker! I have extremely acne prone skin with horrible hormonal acne. I started using this to get rid of acne scars and it actually cleared my skin up to about 90% clear! My skin hasn't been this clear in over a year! I've been using it for just about a month and my skin is starting to slowly look better, it's not an overnight miracle it definitely takes time. I would highly recommend this product. Compared to Mederma the price is lower and it doesn't have parabens and other nasty chemicals. I use this morning and night. I typically wash my face with a mild cleanser then tone with a mixture of witch hazel and tea tree oil and then in the morning I use clean & clear dual action moisturizer but at night I use acne.org benzoyl peroxide I then wait for 5-10 minutes at the least before I apply the Derma e scar gel so that everything else has been absorbed into my skin. After applying the Derma e scar gel in the morning I wait at least another 5-10 mins before applying my mineral makeup so that it has time to absorb.

Let me begin by saying I first tried Mederma and it made my face itch really bad, I couldn't leave it on without irritating my the skin on my face. Derma E was not irritating and was really pleasant to use.

This isn't a quick scar fix but in the 3 months that I've been using this product I have noticed a difference in my skin's texture and my past acne scars seem to be really smoothing out.

This is day 4 and I think that I see a small difference. My face seems more vibrant and even and it seems like the acne scars are reducing in redness and swelling!! Will keep using the gel for now!

I have only been using this product as directed for about a week now and can already see results. I had my son Jack two months ago and my stretch marks (which were purple/red in color) have already faded a lot! I'm excited to continue using this product and see what the results will be. the jar has a lot in it so I don't see myself running out anytime soon. It feels good on my skin and the fragrance is also pleasant. I would recommend using Derma E scar gel to others.

This product contains onion extract which is supposed to be good at treating scarring and antiaging. This product doesn't necessarily get rid of my acne scars but since using it I have noticed it makes my skin appear to be more even and smooth. I have been on and off with this product becuse I was unsure about the effectiveness and whether it was worth re-purchasing but after using it again I noticed that it did have impact on my skin. This isn't a miracle acne scar fix and is only a temporary solution but If you continue using this for months one end you will notice a differnce in skin texture. However if you don't use this for a long period of time and only judge it in the first weak you will not see the potential results. I also find that this product does not clog my pores or cause me any additional out-breaks.
I do recomend this product but for me it's not a holy grail.

I should have taken a "before" photo before I started using this, but I didn't because I didn't know if it would work.
That said, I'd lost all hope for my skin. Evey day I'd wake up to the same old bright red scars of acne past, and fresh new pimples to keep the nightmare going. My mom told me about Derma E's scar gel, and was intrigued, but never tried it until a couple months ago. I wish I tried it sooner.
It's a clear, light gel with a pleasant fragrance and a very refreshing cooling effect (don't think menthol-style cooling, think aloe-style). It's best applied with a clean q-tip and massaged into skin with clean fingers after washing or scrubbing. It actually moisturizes, so unless you have ridiculously dry skin, you shouldn't need a moisurizer. I use it at night after washing, and use Derma E's Problem Skin moisturizer in the morning.
At first, I thought this product would do nothing, mainly because of my depressed hopelessness. But I kept urging myself forward, telling myself I needed to get my money's worth of the product and maybe, within a month or so's time, it would take effect.
And goodness, it did.
Month 1, I started to see slight improvement, but by month 2, my skin- without makeup- is noticeably brighter, plumper, more even, and most importantly, my scars are shrunken and lightened to an extremely noticeable degree. I can't believe it. My mom hugged me this morning after I jubilantly showed her my makeup-less face. This is the best my skin has looked in years, and I'm only 22. I've had awful skin ever since puberty.
This gel usually costs around $14.99, depending on where you find it. (I get mine at Imagebeauty.) While the price tag may seem high, it's worth every penny because it lasts FOREVER, its effects are very apparent, and the ingredients are very close to being all-natural. No parabens, dyes, alcohol, synthetic fragrance. All wonderful.
I feel so strongly about this product. If you have scars and patience, it may be the best thing thing that's ever happened to your skin. Now, mind you, I use Derma E's problem skin cleanser and moisturizer in the morning, Trader Joe's tea tree face wash and Derma E scar gel at night, always use a clean cloth every 2 days, drink alot of water, and use raw tea tree and Clean&Clear Persa-gel for spot treatments. That's my regimen. Maybe adding Derma E's scar gel to yours would help. I'm human evidence that it can make a difference.
I owe Derma E a thank-you letter.

I won't buy this product again, because it lasts forever.
It lightened my hyper-pigmentation (4 month old, dark acne scar) to a lightness that is barely noticeable with concealer.
Might've made breakouts smaller, but not too sure.
Don't check to see if your scar is lightened every single day, because I looked at my scar in the mirror after weeks, and it lightened.
Packaging requires a clean Q-tip to apply.
I don't like the "natural fragrance" though.
The scent is alright. I like it. . .
Label has attractive colors, and the box it came in wasn't too wasteful.

My skin: some pitted and rolling scars on cheeks

Application: This comes in a jar, (like all Derma-e products do) so that is an automatic turn-off since it's completely unhygienic. I bought two jars, used twice a day until both of them ran out. It smells a bit like Mederma and feels refreshing on my skin. However, I saw absolutely no difference in my skin texture or scarring over the course of using this product. Would not repurchase or recommend.

I tried this product a few years back when I was in college - I'm not sure if it has been reformulated since but the packaging was different then. I had a mishap and burned my left hand in hot cooking oil which left a very bad scar. I started using this product a few months after and the scars started to fade.I have to admit that I was very dedicated to this product which is very unlikely of me, normally I give up easily when I don't see improvement but I used this daily 3-4 times and can say that I saw great results but it did take time and effort. After using this for a few months the scars were totally gone.

I was in Whole Foods the other day, (we call it Whole Paycheck, where I work) and I noticed derma Scar Gel, so I bought it right away, before consulting Makeup Alley. (Bad form, I know.)
I am trying to get rid of two pock marks where I squeezed some blackheads years ago and a red acne scar on my other cheek.

So I have been using it 3-5 times per day per the instructions. It is helping the pock marks and possibly the hardened red acne scar.
UPDATE: It's not removing scars.

Another thing I noticed is it serves as a great Primer. When I rub it in all over my skin, like other reviewers mentioned it fills in the pock marks, and they appear to be gone.

This works wonders on old scars and stretch marks. The price is reasonable for how well it works. I get it at iherb for $12.87. We keep it around all the time for first aid along with Derma E Tea Tree Oil and E. I really appreciate all the recommendations from everyone who posts reviews here. It really helps to make informed buying decisions. Thanx MUA for a great site!

I am on my second jar of this stuff. I've used it on my stretch marks and it has drastically improved the appearance of it. It has diminished it so much, that it almost doesn't look like I have stretch marks at all! I also tried using this stuff on my face to get rid of some acne scars, but I don't know if it's this stuff that's breaking me out or not, but I keep getting a lot of pimples after applying this stuff. I have noticed a big difference on my acne scars though - I am not as red and some acne scars are barely noticeable. I don't know if it's some other product that's breaking me out, but I'm going to have to play around and not apply this stuff on my face for awhile. I would high recommend this for diminishing the look stretch marks! I will keep rebuying this product!

I have been using this for almost three months. My skin looks so much clearer. I have some seen some difference in my scars and my face just looks brighter and healthier. I use this as a moisturizer twice a day. It feels wonderful! It also worked to get rid of a painful corn I had between my toes! Will buy some more when I run out. I love this stuff!

I was at my local health store and saw this. I have always been scared to try thing for my scars which I've had for 20 years and were caused by cystic acne. They are along my smile lines and usually don't bother me, but sometimes they are all I can see. I have been using this for two weeks and not only have I already seen improvement but it is an awesome product for my oily skin! I saw some friends the other day and I had to tell them the name of this. It is a gel and feels so great on your skin. I would highly recommend it for any skin even if you don't have scars as it makes your face so soft and perfect. For scars people need to be realistic. I am happy with the results so far and will keep using this as a moisturizer!
Edit: I am now on my second jar. I guess for people who are ultra sensitive it may be good to scoop the product out with a small spoon. I have found it really has helped clear up my skin and if I do get any zits the marks are gone within days!
UPDATE JAN 31ST My scars are SO much better now. Really. I feel better about my skin than I ever have. This is the best stuff and I will continue to use it as a moisturiser.

I too got the generous derma e sample of this product and tried using it for two acne scars that I have. Neither budged at all. I'm talking absolutely no difference. However, in the interest of full disclosure I didn't entirely follow the directions and apply a few times a day as suggested on the packaging, and I am willing to consider trying it again and being more diligent this time. I generally applied 2x/day. I've actually had little luck with anything so perhaps those scars are just extra stubborn!

This product is very similar to Mederma. It has the same active ingredient--onion bulb extract, but Derma E Scar Gel, pricey as it is, is actually cheaper than Mederma. I have two scars from mole removal and one from a burn (I fought with a hot iron, and the iron won), and I had a sample of Derma E Scar Gel. I decided to try it out, even though my friend who is a surgeon says that any scar-lessening effect from Mederma and cohorts comes not from the product itself but from the physical action of rubbing it on the skin, which helps break up scar tissue. So actually, any lotion, cream, gel, etc. would work. The only advantage I can see in having a special scar gel is that it helps me remember to rub something on my scars, but I haven't noticed any reduction in my scars while using Derma E Scar Gel. One advantage of Derma E over Mederma is that it doesn't pill up when I'm rubbing it on the way Mederma does. Nevertheless, I think I'll try using a retinoid on my scars next.

A wee bit expensive, but not really when you realize how much 2 ounces really are. It's a large jar, filled to the top that it leaks when you first use it. It will last a long time. I originally received a sample of this from derma e (they have a whole thing of samples and all you pay is shipping). Now, I'm talking a poop load of samples, I don't even remember all of them, but this stuck out. I was eager to use it and immediately saw results, however I ran out within two weeks and that was that. I found a good deal from a drug store type website for 12ish dollars and eagerly bought it. It has a light, pleasant (natural) smell, and is clear. It works it works! I've got a few child hood scars that need smoothing out, and a recent one from a cut right between the eyes (ewwww).

Like suggested, this also makes a nice moisturizer, however it feels like a layer or mask when on, so eh on that, but she says she does it before bed, I like to sleep on my tummy so thats out. It works as a moisturizer if you can tolerate the extra skin feeling until it absorbs in. Ive got dry flakey skin (especially in the winter). keep this away from the eye area as it will make your eyes look sunken in.

The gel tingles at first, but after the first few uses, this feeling goes away.

My kitty also bites so this will be good to stay :)
it works!

I have been using this for a scar on my eyebrow I had since a child and it is smoothing it out and making it less noticable. I do not like that this stuff is expensive, but the gel will last me a few years. I also apply it to old acne scars and it may or may not be helping, but it does not break my face out.
