I saw this on the Tarte site and it was a really nice limited edition one with a groovy pink and purple handle design. It's the gold color and has 2 purple pads. I like that they give you a backup because it can pop out if you don't put it in securely. Honestly it wasn't till MUA that I even thought about using an eyelash curler. Bet heck if you ladies do there must be a reason. And there is my lashes look hella better when I curl them. I have very long lashes that would get in my eye. Not anymore thank goodness!

I like the purple pad it does make it a better time because I remember I got turned off because I would pinch my eye or maybe I was too young. Who knows but now my lashes look excellent with mascara. It's easier to apply and I look more awake. This baby doesn't pinch me and it gives me a great curl that I like. I'm stoked I got it because I really like it, it makes getting my eyes the way I like so much better.

I swore for years I didn't need an eyelash curler. My eyelashes are long-ish and very curly. However, when you have naturally curly eyelashes, they don't always like to curl in the same way, which is frustrating (and a great way to get mascara all over your eyelids, yuck). After years of buying the heaviest, goopiest mascaras available to weigh down some of the crazier curly lashes and blend them with the regular ones, I tried a new, less-obvious method: enter the eyelash curler.

I tried the Tarte curler on a whim as it came with a mascara for a pretty good price. While the mascara wasn't really to my liking, this curler gives me uniformly pretty lashes and calms the craziness! It perfectly curls the straighter ones and straightens the super curly ones into a smooth curve, with each lash going -- gasp -- the same direction!

It's pretty intense, however: I have lower brows and very round eyes so if I squeeze too hard my lashes will curve up and hit my eyebrows, which is pretty bizarre looking.

This curler gets bonus points for almost being long enough to get all my lashes while being curvy enough to fit my eye shape. I find that the flatter curlers, like Shu, don't really work with my face, and the curvy ones to be too short.

Did I mention it's pretty cheap? Not outrageously so, but I've been using it for a couple of years without problems so I feel the 16 buck price tag is justified. Lasted longer than the Shiseido, which did nothing for me and broke after four fruitless uses.

I like the handles and how you don't have to hook your fingers in, however anything positive I have to say ends there. This eyelash curler is incredibly bulky and I can't maneuver it comfortably to get close enough to the roots of my lashes to give a good curl. It curls the lashes too far from the roots, which makes them look shorter. I jammed the thing into my eye and still couldn't make it work.I guess one other positive is that it didn't pinch the delicate skin surrounding the eye. My old revlon one does a better job than this and it cost about 1/4 the price.

However, I will say that I like a really dramatic, super curl that is almost like a 90 degree angle but with a curve. If you want something natural, this may be a good product for that. Not so much for the fake eyelash look.

I will continue on in my quest for a new eyelash curler that I actually like.

Ever since Shu Uemura left the American market, I have searched for a practical replacement. After being disappointed by the Shisedo curler, I tried the Tarte one. I really don't care for the bulky purple handles but the curler itself gets a solid 3 lippies. I really have to pump this one to get a consistent curl throughout my stick-straight lashes. The shape isn't ideal for my large, but not round eyes. The whole curling your lashes vs. making them bend at a 90 degree angle completely depends on how you hold your curler. I don't find that this curler gives me a nice round curl no matter how I use it. The Shu Uemura one always gave me a lot of curl at the base of my lashes; the Tarte one gave nice curl to the ends but took several squeezes to lift my lashes from the base. I lost a lot of lashes from my left eye because it took so much squeezing for anything to happen.

I would recommend this curler to someone with non-stubborn lashes. I think it would work beautifully on someone whose lashes are full but just need a little oomph. For those of us who need some lash miracles, stick with the Shu.

I've had this curler for a few months now and it gets the job done for me. Although I find that I do have to touch up in the afternoon, but I think that I have to do that with other eyelash curlers. I would repurchase.

Cheaply made, designed poorly and breaks way too easily. I've now had three of these and each one has had the spring on it snap. This last one I've only had a couple months. If they had "normal" ring finger inserts instead of the silly paddle-like handles I'd still be able to use it even with the broken spring. (Whose idea was it to have the paddles anyway? It's not the easiest to hang onto even when it isn't broken).
I also found it odd that I could never get replacement pads. Though if it breaks well before you even wear a pad out I suppose it doesn't matter.

I have a cheap, $6 curler from the drugstore that doesn't curl as well as this does, but I've had it for years and I don't have to worry about it snapping in half when I've only gotten one eye done. (I can also get additional pads for it too!)

All that being said, it does curl my lashes better than anything else I've used so far. I'm just not willing to spend another $16 to replace my THIRD broken one.
(Also, I tried to post my review on Tarte's website. It said it was "submitted for review". Over a week later and it's still not displayed. Do they only approve good reviews??)

This eyelash curler pinches my lids and ripped out a ton of my lashes. That is what I get for being attracted to the purple handles. I much prefer the Jasponesque Power Curler.

I bought this eyelash curler for about 18 USD which was a high price for me, but I find that it's perfectly worth it. I have very round eyes, and most eyelash curlers pinch my eyes/lashes, and I find them very uncomfortable/difficult to use. I love the grips on this one because it's smoother and doesn't dig into my fingers like other lash curler grips, and it squeezes together very easily without much pressure. I never feel like I have to apply a lot of pressure or grip really hard to get my lashes curled. In fact, I can barely tell that I am curling my lashes when I use this curler, but when I take it off my lashes they look really, really good. I love this curler, and I will repurchase when it becomes necessary.

Tarte's eyelash curler is quite a bit different than others that I've tried. And I'm not a fan of it.

First, the finger-grip is atrocious. The plastic is too shiny (and, as a result, slippery) for any amount of control. I don't like the idea of and open grip anyway, as you're able to manage the curler better with the circle grips, but the problems with this are only intensified by the fact that the plastic is so shiny that the curler slides around on your fingers. I had to attach a rubber bit to the curler just to prevent any major accidents.

Second, the curler itself is definitely tailored for someone with more of a round shape to their eye. (My round-eyed cousin thinks it's okay, so if you have rounder eyes, this may work for you.) I have predominantly almond-shaped eyes, but my right eye has a slight roundness to it. Interestingly enough, this curler works fairly well on my right eye, but pinches like *mad* on my left eye. It definitely takes a lot of work to make this usable on almond-shaped eyes.

And I'm not a fan of the spring action that you get from this curler. I've never had another eyelash curler that had to be hooked together in order to keep it under control. Word of wisdom, ladies: if you get this, please keep the plastic bit that holds the curler together. Otherwise the grips fly apart and it takes up significantly more room.

I gave this curler two lippies because there are exactly two things that I like about it: 1) I like the curl that I get out of it (on the days when I have the patience to play with it for 10 minutes). It gives a very dramatic curl and it holds quite well, even without mascara. and 2) I really like the rubber pads on this one. It's the only lash curler that I have that doesn't break, snag or adhere to my eyelashes. I've actually taken the extra pad and put it into my old curler.

All in all, this does have some pros (and I think people with a more rounded eye shape will certainly find it more appealing), but it's not at all for me and I would not purchase it again.

This curler is horrible. It pinches like crazy and gives you check mark eye lashes... so not cute. I highly recommend the Shiseido curler it is the best I have ever used!

not the best but at the same time not the worse. i got this for $15 at sephora along with an extra curler pad a sample mascara, which is sort of a good deal but at the same pricey, at least in my opinion. this doesnt give me a false lash effect right away, but with one try it does curl my lashes... enough. it sometimes pinches my skin towards my inner corners so thats a big OUCH. im seriously considering returning and using the $15 for the mac lash curler.

So the choice of an eyelash curler really comes down to your eye shape. Do you have a longer, flatter almond shaped eye (Asian) or do you have a rounder eye or somewhere in between? If you have almond, pick the Shu Uemura which was designed for an Asian eye. If you have a round eye, the Tarte one is perfect for you. If you're somewhere in the middle, a Revlon or Tweezerman (etc) will do just fine. After years if using the Shu Uemura, I bought this one and LOVE it! The grips and spring take a minute to get used to but aren't impossible. The Tarte is rounder and shorter by maybe about a half a centimeter than the Shu Uemura so if you have a bigger and/or longer eye, the Shu will work better for you. The Tarte has a wider - not longer - eyelash grip than most curlers so I'm sure that's where some of the appeal comes from. Also, the spring action enables you to get a good crimp without getting bent lashes. (Just don't grip too hard!).
EDIT: I put I won't re-purchase because I decided the Shu Uemura works better for me. Still love you overall, Tarte!

OUCH!!! This eyelash curler first of all wad $15, which I find crazy because my trusty revlon curler was $5. But it came with a tarte LCL mascara sample, and it's from tarte which is supposed to be this awesome high end cruelty brand. So I bought it, but expected it to be amazing. Trying it at home, I had some difficulty with the handles. Unlike those loops on the ends u fit ur fingers through, u kind of have to balance ur fingers on the flat pads (know what I mean?) making a flimsy grip. And it pinched my eyes! I usually use lash curlers at the very base of my lashes, I tried to do this and no matter what I got huge pinches on the surrounding skin of my eye, and on my lid!! I was practically in tears and it left a red angry mark on my lid that is still there. The only way I wouldn't pinch myself was clamping the curler on the tips of my lashes but what does that do? And when I finally gritted my teeth and held for a few seconds and got a curl as close to the base as I could without skinning myself, it made one of those unnatural 90° angle type of curls we all hate -.- definitely going back to the store, I loved the sleek design and the purple handle color but he handle design, curling ability and pinching isn't worth it:( back to revlon I go

bought this when the sales asst. said it was her favorite curler because the shape allowed you to get it close to the eye. Not only was this not the case, I had a hard time with my fingers slipping off the handles (no circles to grab onto).I actually think the mini travel curlers get much closer. Mascara is also so-so, good if you want a natural look. Ended up returning.

OMG!!! love this curler. I wouldn't buy anything else! it curls your lashes at the base and crimps down for extreme curl. It will make your lashes appear longer as it lifts them up. It is so gentle, it won't pull your lashes out even after applying mascara. When I worked at Sephora, it was the only curler we used on applications. It's only $15 and a one-time purchase that also comes with a sample size mascara. It doesn't break easily and is definitely worth the money!
And...if you google best eyelash curler, tarte comes up several times. I'm not the only one in love.

I have short lashes, but this eyelash curler gets the job done with only one curl, works great. I've always had the Revlon eyelash curler, but that one sucks compared to this one ( I had to curl my lashes like 5 times to get them to curl), but overall tarte did a great job with this one. Decent price, because I also got a sample of their mascara.

Probably one of the best curlers I've used. Even better than Shiseido and waaay better than Koji. Cute design, high quality, perfect curvature, no pinching, sky high lashes with little effort. Perfect for my small, monolid eyes :-)

So I bought this because Sephora doesn't cary Shu anymore and I needed a good curler. The handles are a bit different than what I'm used to but it makes it pretty comfortable once you get used to it. This worked well for the first month it curled all my lashes even the ones in my inner corners. It fit my big eyes well and it seemed like I didn't have to press hard or hold for a long time to get a nice curl. Then it turned on me! I was curling my eyelashes when I heard this pop and the curler brakes! I freaked out because my eye felt irritated and I was afraid I hurt my eye! Thankfully my eye looks fine but I did feel like it hurt me a bit, so I won't be buying this again. I really wanted this to be my HG eyelash curler but I won't use this again. Girls be careful when using this product!

Quite simply, this doesn't fit my eye shape. My eyes are somewhat deep set and the way the handle is on this, I can't get the curler in far enough easily, and when I do, it can only grab lashes in the centre of my eye. I can't even tilt the curler in a way to get my outer and inner lashes. The pads are springy and I do like that, and the curler itself is cute, but it simply doesn't work for me. The mascara sample that came with it is reasonably good, but the curler is just an epic fail for my eye shape.
