After two digital perms within the same year, my hair was quite damaged. My coarse, frizzy hair that reaches halfway down my back has always been prone to damage, but it kept getting splits trim after trim. I got Cloud 9 since it was on sale at Ulta, and it's sulfate free. I liked the shampoo immediately - it lathers well despite being SLS-free and feels moisturizing. It rinses off easily and leaves a very faint smell. I believe this shampoo, along with the matching conditioner, restored my hair's health and then some. My hair feels healthy, smoother and less frizzy than before, and I am now on my third liter.

A pretty avaerage shampoo. Did nothing to help, did nothing to make hair worse. Won't repurchase..just average.

I really love this product! I have super dry hair because I dye it quite a bit, and it makes my ends feel so soft and lovely. All the packaging and product is made in the US, so that's a plus. Overall it's a great product and I highly recommend it for people with color treated, dry hair like me :)!

I just discovered this product and it worked so well with the attached conditioner I was shocked.
My hair has been looking pretty bad for a long time. I tried this in travel size but will be going back for the full size
I highly recommend with conditioner

I got this shampoo on sale at my local Beauty Brands liter sale (12.99, great deal!) along with the corresponding conditioning treatment. The first time I used it, I found the smell to be really pleasant, but the second time I started to get a chemical sort of smell from it. It's not terrible, I just .. liked it better before. I only use it once a week, though, because I don't wash my hair very often (once or twice a week) and I don't need that much protein. If I wash my hair a second time, I use a protein free moisture product.
The first time I used it, my hair felt very soft and smooth after the shower, but by the time it had dried it felt a little stick-like, so the next day I deep conditioned and the problem was gone. With subsequent uses I haven't noticed a problem.
The packaging is great. Very classy and classic looking, and I like the tops a lot.
I really like the product overall, and I think it will last me forever at the rate I use it. My hair is both strong and smooth (or as smooth as my coarse, thick individual strands ever will be).

This a great shampoo. It adds body and shine and doesn't fade your color. Even though it's sulfate free it lathers well. Also, it smells great - very fresh & powdery. The price is a little costly, but I buy it when Ulta puts their liters on sale & a bottle lasts me 7 months with daily use.

I bought this because it was sulfate free. For a SLS free shampoo, it is amazing! It lathers really well. It didn't dry my hair out at all. The consistency is pretty thick. I don't think it did anything special to my hair though. It was just the way my hair looks and feels with any other shampoo. But, as long as it doesnt do anything bad to my hair, I'm fine with it.

Working at Trade Secret I got my fair share of trying all different hair products but after awhile a lot of the top name products would just stop working. The soft feel and shiny look would wear off and even dry my hair out more. Being that I have long hair I've got the oily roots and dry ends syndrome Brocato really helped with that balance and gave it back the healthy feel and appearance that Matrix had stripped from it. I used the Shampoo Conditioner Serum Creme and Protective Spray for Flat Ironing. The combination left me with a soft just got my hair done feel!

I have super damaged hair from bleaching and coloring. I decided to try this because it is sulfate free, it sounded like it would help my hair type, and smelled amazing, but it dried out my hair like crazy. I like to give products a fair chance so I used this for about two weeks and I just couldn't take it anymore. It must be all the protein in this that drid out my hair so I guess my hair needs moisture, not protein.

I'm a product junkie. I rarely buy the same shampoo twice but I have to say this is one I keep buying. It's a bit pricy. I got the sham. and cond. liters for about $65 at trade secret but you can also get it at ulta on sale often. It smells good and lathers very well. It makes my hair feel conditioned by it self. If you feel like splurging on some do it!! I have very high standards when it come to hair products and even I was impresses. I'm not gonna say it's my hg cause that to much commitment lol but I've yet to find anything that beats it!

My hair: long, dry, color-treated and damaged I suspect.
Well the ingredients for this certainly seem "gentle" considering it's silicone and sulfate free, was hoping it would feel like it was gentle on my hair but contrary, it left my hair feeling really dry, straw-ish and tangled. Oh well. For a sulfate-free shampoo, I really love DevaCurl No 'Poo or Jessicurl hair cleansing cream, leaves hair so soft and detangled.

Girl at ULTA said they are all old that they sell & it is crazy they aren't paraben free...

I've repurchased this many times and is one of my favorite shampoos not to mention one of the only sulfate-free shampoos my scalp will tolerate. It smells wonderful (like Marc Jacobs Daisy), lathers nicely, and doesn't leave hair a tangled mess after rinsing. You can get the liters for about $12 at Ulta's liter sales, so definitely a steal.

I originally started off with the travel-size version, so if you're interested in testing this out, Trade Secret sells the travel-size for $2/3oz. The shampoo smells nice, has a light fragrance. It has a medium consistency; not too thick, nor too thin. It's color-safe, doesn't contain SLS, but it does contain sulfonate as a substitute, which isn't as bad. It bubbles up a little, cleanses hair well. Doesn't dry up my hair and turn it into a knot; and doesn't fade my hair color. I'll repurchase this cos it's a good deal for the amount you get, and it performs better than Bumble & Bumble Gentle Shampoo as a gentle cleansing shampoo. I like it alot!
EDIT: (11/22/10) Yep, still using the same shampoo. I've gone though many bottles of this since I first tried in it 2008. While I do believe it's a good gentle shampoo, I'm on a search for a natural & organic alternative since I've become a convert to this lifestyle in the past couple of months. Hopefully I'll find something that works for me. If not, I can always go back to an my ol' staple: Brocato Cloud 9 Miracle Repair Shampoo.

I am so happy I found this shampoo. It makes my hair feel stronger (proteins in it), shiny, smoother, and more manageable! This is my HG! I am not a huge fan of the light fabric softner smell since I prefer fruity smelling shampoo, but it is light. It is said to be SLS free, but it does contain other "ates" which lather. It cleans my head really well but leaves my hair untangled.
I found it at Trade Secrets 2/$24.99. I think I am going to go back and stock up because that is in liter sizes.
I learned a long time ago to just scrub your scalp and to squeeze the remainder of the shampoo through the length of your hair so you do not strip it (not that this shampoo even would anyways). It is also important to brush your hair at night and before washing it because it distributes your natural oils throughout your hair for natural conditioning.

Thank you MUA, you helped me find another HG. This shampoo smells just like cloud 9.... just heavenly. It's also sulfate free, which was an important feature in my book. The lather is absolutely fantastic, and I find that this doesn't really build up in my hair either. It never makes my hair feel stripped down or heavy, and did I mention the scent? I loooove the scent. So clean and beautiful. HG, HG, HG, will be rebuying forever.

This is my HG shampoo. Brocato Cloud 9 shampoo blows every other shampoo for damaged hair out of the water. It has a nice lather, protects my color/ highlights from fading, moisturizes my hair like nothing else, and I love the light honeydew melon smell. It is quite inexpensive as well, and a little goes a long way. A terrific product that I recommend to everyone, including my hairstylist :-)

I had damaged/unmanagable hair due to excessive dying and was told Brocato would be my miracle.
Far from it, made my hair even more dry and damaged.
My hair was falling out and would have to clean my brush every day when I used this product for 2 weeks.
On the plus side, it smells really nice.

I'm pretty sure this is causing my hair to break. I don't dye, use product in, or blow dry my hair. It's just natural wash and wear hair, and when I use this shampoo and conditioner daily, I notice breakage. That's too bad because I love the scent and feel of this shampoo. It lathers really easily and makes my hair feel nice when I rinse. If I have been using another shampoo for a few weeks and use this product one time, I have nice hair. It's just daily use that causes my hair to break. Maybe it's too drying.

This shampoo for me really has been a miracle for my damaged hair. By far, my favorite shampoo. Sulfate-free, really moisturizing and repairing, yet your hair still gets thoroughly clean. Usually after shampooing with any other shampoo besides this one, my hair feels stripped, squeaky clean, and it isn't until the conditioner that you feel the silky difference. Well, after using the shampoo just once and even before using a conditioner, my hair felt like silky, healthy hair again. The cumulative result has been silky-textured, less-knotted, healthier hair. The miracle repair treatment is amazing as well. I recommend buying both and the huge value size because you will love this and see a difference!
My hair story:
I have naturally dark brown hair that I had been dying black. Well after a few years I decided I wanted to go blond. After the gentlest attempt at stripping my hair (by diluting the stripping solution with shampoo over a period of several hours), we got my black-dyed hair to a medium ash blonde. The color was actually pretty nice, but my normally silky, thick, straight hair took a really haggard turn for the worse. It was dry, corse, frizzy, knotty, ect. textured after all of the lightening we had done. This shampoo has saved my hair.
