Mixed feelings. I love all things vintage, and this compact is a replica of what a lot of high quality compacts looked like in the 1940s. With that said, the formula is much like products from that era as well. Granted, this is paraben free, and shouldn't break you out, but it is also very heavy, has limited color choice and is tricky to apply since the compact is so small. I couldn't imagine using this for touch ups; even trying to apply it as a powder foundation left my skin looking unnatural and even patchy...and I have oily skin! However, I found a use for this; since it's only 5g of product, it makes an excellent concealer! Using a concealer brush, sweep it into the product and pat it over blemishes. Works great! All in all, a beautiful compact that I will always have, but the actual product is just so so...it's unique, and I don't regret buying it, I just wish it performed better.

This is a fantastic touch up powder, with very elegant packaging and a size that's perfect for my small bag. Though the amount you receive is very modest, a little big goes a long way and a few swipes of the little applicator last for hours. I have Light, which is a good match for my skin. Recommended.

I love this powder. It's finely milled, doesn't settle in pores, and gives skin a finished look without appearing made up. I own Light but what I really need is Porcelain. Light is a hint too yellow for my fair, cool-neutral skin (NW15). .

As for the tiny compact (not much bigger than a silver dollar), tiny is the point. These are replicas, and I love that the blush and powder and Enchanting lipstick line all come in diminutive packaging. The enclosed puff is relatively useless (at least until you've made a divot in the powder so it can nestle inside the compact), so use a brush. I'll be heartbroken if the classic line is phased out; it's one of the key differentiators for Besame Cosmetics.

I ordered this and some other Besame products because of the vintage look. I was going to display them on an antique art deco vanity I have with some other vintage things. That said, I was very disappointed when I actually received the products because they don't look as vintage as they did in the website's photos. The blush is almost impossible to open, I can already tell the lipstick is going to easily break off just trying to apply it, and you can't put the miniscule sized powder puff in the powder compact! That leaves you with having to keep the velveteen bag it comes in, leaving the puff loose inside, which means you'll be getting face powder all over the outside of the compact. Frankly, I'd NEVER repurchase any of the Besame products because they're just too expensive for such a small quantity and the products themselves are only so-so - not worth it.

Small size and very easy to crumble. I'm forever taking some heavy object and pressing it again when I take it out on the town and bang it about..

However, it is a lovely powder--very sheer yet good for touch-ups when applied lightly-- I have the medium for redness around my nose although I am generally fair and press on with my finger or puff.. Does not emphasize pores when applied this way.

I also have the light in the vanity case. I am finding that the lighter color, now that my skin is winter pale and super clear/smooth from Retin-A and glycolic treatments, is superb when applied with a kabuki brush on moisturized skin. Isn't it just so good when you can come back to a product in your stash?

When the Classic Line came back, I was really looking forward to finding refills for the beautiful case. Hooray! They're back. This powder is a must-try for those who shy away from powder foundations.

Okay....see the tiny photo of this compact in the upper right hand corner of this page....that's about how big this compact really is. So if you were cursed with big mitts, you'll find it pretty darned teeny for the price. It's an excellent powder but fer gawds sake the thing is as big as a Canadian loonie!!!!!

Wow, this is one fantastic powder! It is so finely milled that it does not look the slightest bit powdery or heavy or cakey. In fact, you can't detect it at all on your skin, except that the parts that were powdered just look *perfect*. Definitely HG for me!

I absolutely love this compact, I miss the glamour and class from the 1920-1940's. I must have been born into the wrong era.
I carry this with me daily for touch ups and it gives me the perfect finish. I hope with all the new products Besame is currently working on that their new foundation compact will exceed all my expectations.

The compact is beautiful and humorous at the same time. Humorous because it is so small that I am afraid to even try it! So what I do with it is just look at it because it's too pretty to use. I used it for one day of makeup play and I could tell it was good. But I honestly can't give an opinion on how it holds up.

As others have said, the tiny-ness of the case is a bit shocking when it arrives! I got mine for AUD$25, which I thought was fantastic. I used it after putting some creamy concealer on blemishes and buffing it in with a brush, then using a rolling motion with a sponge (not the little flat one from the compact - it's no good!) it is creamier than a traditional powder and within 1/2 hour had settled into a flawless looking base - I am a PPP, so light was the perfect shade. Dita eat your heart out!
I took a lippie off due to the lack of decent sponge. I'm thinking of cutting my sponge down so it sit under the compact in the little velvet pouch they supply, in case I want to take it out. The gold compact is far too cute to stay at home.

I could smell the 'violet' smell too, but I didn't find it overpowering.

I like this powder and the compact is adorable, but because of the size and the cheap ridiculous quality of the powder "puff", I can't really use this compact on a daily basis. I use it mainly for the mirror and for touch-ups when I'm out, on account of the "wow" factor. I agree that the powder feels quite silky, but I need to find something bigger and possibly unscented.

After nearly two years of lusting, I finally caved and bought the powder compact in light. The packaging is even more beautiful in person, and I feel like an old glamorous movie star every time I whip it out! The powder itself is also fantastic. You can barely tell you're wearing powder when you wear it, and the coverage is great for just evening out skin tone. Don't expect super heavy coverage though, if you have old acne redmarks and scars like me, it won't cover them. I use this powder first to even out my skin and then go over and marks or blemishes with a different mineral concealer. This powder controls shine as well, which is great considering my skin is oily enough to fry bacon in.

Overall, this product is outstanding, but I just wish the powder came in more colors! The light is bordering on too dark for me, and i'm not exactly the palest person in the world.

It's quite possible that this may finally be my holy grail powder after a long exhausting search. This powder reminds me a lot of my beloved Lola French Pink because it's so finely milled and gives such lovely coverage. As much as I loved Lola I was still searching for something like Lola that did a better job of controlling oil. I wanted four things that I finally get in this concoction. Serious oil control, flawless full coverage that looks natural, a finely milled formula and a color pale enough to match me. This is truly gorgeous stuff here however I am not impressed with the compact. Yes it's lovely but it's completely impractical bordering on ridiculous. I can understand Besame wanting to streamline the look however this powder looks like it's more for a doll than a human being. It's like the powder was miniaturized at the Willy Wonka factory and is now available for dolls to use. It's a compact the size of a silver dollar with a puff so tiny that if you have any nails at all you will struggle with trying to get this stuff on your face. It seems silly to be honest. The formula is so pretty that I will try to work around this but I wish they would come to their senses when it comes to the size of their products. I think they might be surprised to know that most women would rather have more product with things that are at least easy to use rather than fancy gold packaging that almost nobody sees unless the are staring at you as you pull it out of your purse and laugh watching you try to apply this stuff with the doll sized micro mini puff they include. All in all this is wonderful powder but it is overpriced and the packaging is ridiculous.

EDIT: OK I found a way to deal with this miniaturized powder compact which is more suited for someone living in the land of Gulliver and the Lilliputions. I bought a Bobbi Brown sponge like puff (I love that texture so much more) and it comes in a plastic case so I merely take that with me (the case it comes in is super handy). I just take the BB puff out of it's plastic case every time I need to use my Besame and I'm all set. I think it's a bit of a pain but it works. I do not like brushes. Brushes no matter how soft tend to take some of your foundation off with each stroke and they do not offer as much coverage if you need more like I do.

I'm on the fence with this one. Yes, I am in love with the compact and the way it looks. It's absolutely divine. It's metal, delicate and very vintage looking.
The powder's formula is exquisite. It's seriously the best powder I've used, I think. It's finely milled, applies like a dream, has ample coverage and the finish is so smooth and silky (plus, it's lightly scented of vanilla). It's absolutely wonderful for a flawless look (I prefer it over foundation, although it is a powder foundation).
My issues with this? The size, for one. While it is nice that it fits in the smallest of handbags, the amount of product is meager. I'd really love if this was offered in a larger size, because I'd love to use this every day. However, being that they charge $15 for a refill pan, I think a normal-sized compact would probably cost what some company like Guerlain would charge! Also, the shades offered aren't adequate enough. The lightest shade is too light for me, and the next shade up is too dark.
This is great to use on a glamourous night out, and the contents of the itty-bitty compact is divine... but it's a bit pricy and not cost-economical in the least bit. A few uses and I've hit pan... and it's not long before the remainder of the product crumbles all over the place.

I recently discovered the Besamè Cosmetics line after reading through a community dedicated to retro and all things vintage. I've purchased a few lipsticks which are wonderful in terms of quality and cuteness and with it, came a sample of the Cashmere powder. I tried a bit and it seemed to blend in fairly well. I don't normally wear foundation and I should mention that I have normal skin so I need VERY little if any, coverage. On a daily basis I use MAC's Select Sheer pressed powder in NC40. I ordered this cute compact ($45 USD) which came with one refill in dark and it was perfect for my skin. It matched exactly. As another reviewer mentioned, is more of a foundation powder than a pressed powder because it provides coverage. But it isn't cakey nor chalky, nor is it too yellow or pink. I think these shades fall more in the neutral zone. This doesn't settle into fine lines, absorbs any oil, so no shininess but it isn't completely matte. It really does feel like cashmere on the skin because it's so light and silky.

Unfortunately, it only comes in three shades. I am not very dark, but I am a GGG, so it's definitely not for everyone. The smell is divine. It reminds of something my grandmother would wear. The compact is about the size of a silver dollar, but honestly, the quality is worth it. The compact is so chic and cute. Refills are only $15, so if you aren't convinced try a sample or just buy the refill. I think Besamè is one of my new favorite cosmetic lines. I've fallen in love with everything I've tried so far.

First, I'd like to start out by saying that I have NEVER repurchased a product in my life until Besame's cashmere silk powder. This is definately more of a foundation powder than a pressed powder as it has some coverage. The texture of the powder is silky and smooth. Upon application, flaws are minimized and skin is mattified, although not so much that you end with a masky look. The powder lasts quite well throughout the day and does not highlight dry patches as many other powders have. As many reviewers have mentioned, the caompact is adorable, although I find the puff that comes with the powder completely useless. Just for reference, I have medium-tan Asian skin and I matched with the dark color.

yep it's expensive, but worth every freaking penny!.
For the first time in a really long timeI walked into the bathroom, it's almost Three in the afternoon, and my make up still looks fresh. And I'm not even usingt the souffle foundation. I used the Lancome Magique Matte Mouse (which I love b/c it doesnt clog) fdn and went over it this morning with the Besame Cashmere Powder. OMG the coverage is amazing! it gives this fresh mattifying look. I swear I look 5 years younger! Why? 1)Not setting in my fine lines, 2)Great coverage 3) Absorbs my oil. And I must tell you, the cashmere name is perfect. For some reason I feel like my face feels so soft.

oh yeah I should add, I touch my face ALL day. I'm a hands on face person (I know I know I need to stop) And my make up is still fresh!

I <3 Besame!

This is really a great product. It does not magnify my pores, or get streaky looking if I sweat a bit like some other pressed powders do. The size of the powder refill is quite small and I was a little disappointed at first, but once I used it I was very impressed. It does not take a lot to powder your whole face. I usually use a fluffy brush to apply, but sometimes I use the pad that comes with. The pad is very tiny but works well enough if you have to touch up without a brush.
I wear 20 in MUFE mat velvet and the light colored powder matches my skin perfectly. I am very breakout prone and this powder did not cause any breakouts. Overall it is a great product and I will definitely repurchase.

I caved in and did hit the 'confirm' button and got myself a few things from the besame website. I only got this in its refill, i know the compact is gorgeous but it was just too expensive for me plus I hardly travel with foundation makeup. Anyways, as the the refill was quite small my initial intention was to pop it into one of my empty palettes but i found a perfect match in EL's BCA gold heart-shaped compact (the one with pink rhinestones) i took out the original lucidity pressed powder and pop this one in and it made me happy. Back to the powder, i use a squirrel kabuki to apply this directly to moisturized face, the powder's texture is rather soft and very pigmented IMO. It cant cover dark marks tho but it's good enough for me as I have very light acne marks, general uneveness with some redness around the nose and chin. I love the effect, it's exactly like my actual skin except that it's matte finished. I am NC25, olive, BB warm sand. I won't repurchase unless I can afford the international shipping rates or they have some kind of offer but for you US gals it's def worth it!
