This is a beautiful, soft, clean, refined scent. I applied it and kept catching tantalizing whiffs of it, and it struck me as so incredibly familiar. Clean, fresh, summery - VERY summery. Think a refined afternoon wedding outside in mid-June, the sun is shining brightly, it's warm but not hot, a slight breeze lifts the hems of the ladies' chiffon, organdy and silk skirts. Children play in their cotton lawn pinafores and the gentlemen shed their linen and seersucker jackets and roll their sleeves up. Everyone sips gin and tonics, ramox fizzes and such. So summery.
Then it dawned on me, in the midst of this reverie - the original Bain de Soleil Orange Gelee smelled just like this!
No wonder it was so evocative of summer for me! It is incredily beautiful smooth, refined, rounded and exquisitely crafted.

I didn't have high hopes testing this one out based on the notes I didn't think it would be at all! Man was I wrong!!! Crepe de Chene is beautiful at all stages specially the dry down. FBW =D

I've never smelled the original Crepe de Chene, but I can tell you that this version is beautiful! I've never really like "clean" chypre scents at all, but this perfume is soft, slightly sweet and very clean and I love it! It reminds me of Chanel No. 5 only slightly more clean.
