Have been using this cream for a couple of days and, honestly, can't decide whether I like it or not. One thing I definitely don't like is the smell --too chemical. I think I prefer my Avene Hydrating Cream Light, but the jury is still out. Will have to write an update in a month or so.

This is my HG moisturizer! I've been using it everyday (day and night) for the last 1.5 years and have zero complaints.

I have dry skin, but it is in generally quite good condition to begin with. Very few breakouts, spots or other issues. I just need a moisturiser to help my feel soft, smooth and not too tight after cleansing, and this suits it perfectly.

I apply just over a pea size on my entire face (and smooth the extra on my neck). It's really light and spreads easily, and absorbs very quickly! I can apply makeup over it straight after, or go straight to bed with no worries. I've noticed that even after my first use and with continued use, the skin on my face has become much softer and smoother.

If you want a multi-tasking moisturiser (lightening, glowing, lifting, toning, etc.) this is probably not for you but if you just need something to maintain and improve the texture of your skin, definitely give this a try. A little tube actually goes a long, long way!

Skin Smoothing cream is my favourite moisturiser! I suffer from dry/combination skin that sometimes breaks out in spots.
I apply this cream lightly as it is a little thick and my skin looks so smooth and soft. I would recommend this to anyone that suffers from dry or combination skin. I definitely think it is worth the price!

Age: 30-35   Skin: Acne-prone, Fair   Hair: Brunette   Eyes: Brown

I purchased Skin Smoothing Cream per the recommendation of my esthetician based on the fact that I have acne-prone skin but thought I needed something more moisturizing during the fall and winter months; I also use other Dermalogica products such as cleansers and masques. (I had previously used L'Oreal Future-E Oil-Free moisturizer on a daily basis with great results, although I felt it was less hydrating than I needed in the cool months.) Since using this product, I have developed large, painful, cystic acne on a very regular basis all over my face, despite my regular exfoliation schedule of twice weekly. I will be returning this product and returning to my previous moisturizer, especially after reading a couple of other reviews that confirmed my suspicions that this is what is causing my increased breakouts.

The most hydrating moisturiser that I've ever owned, without being too thick. This combats dryness amazingly and I honestly cannot live without it! No other moisturiser has ever compared.

I generally like this cream, it feels nice on my skin, very moisturising, but not too heavy, however it has a bit of a funky smell which totally puts me off it and I can't wait to use it all up, so I don't need to use a cream with such a weird smell anymore.. If it wasn't for the smell I might buy again.

I have been using this products for 3 months now during the summer months and I love how it hydrates my combination skin without making it too oily. My skin feels plump and soft and I definitely prefer this over the active moist as the active moist was not hydrating for my skin at all. I do know that this product has parabens in it but this doesnt bother me at all because parabens in dermalogica are actually in very small quantities and there is no real evidence that parabens are bad. In fact I have used many products without parabens and they have caused my skin to itch and become red. I havent used this in the harsh winter months yet but I do hope that this does the job equally well during winter.

Okay, I have waited for over a month to be able to fairly review the Skin Smoothing Cream by Dermalogica.

I have skin that tends not to do well with serums and moisturisers. I always seem to get burning skin, or if a product doesn't cause irritation, it will eventually give me spots and clogged pores that are quite noticable. I haven't had very much luck at all with moisturisers (or oils for moisturization) and until now, have rarely used one on a consistent basis.

I received a good sized sample of the Skin Smoothing Cream in a sample kit for normal - dry skin. I tend to have combo skin but I needed TLC after using a harsh product and there were other products in the set that I wanted to test drive. The 22 mL sample has lasted me over a month and will (at my usage guestimate) last for another couple of months. A full sized tube would last a lot longer. While the price for 50 mL is in the range of $50-70 canadian, I do think the price is okay, especially when compared to other brands (Clinique Super Rescue is in the neighborhood of $60 for 50 mL).

I had read the ingredients and decided to take the plunge even though coconut derivitaves are listed high up on the list. Surprisingly, silicones are not at the very top of the list (I ususally react terribly to silicone heavy formulations). I have found that this cream is WONDERFUL. I have not broken out and I have balanced, hydrated skin. The Skin Smoothing Cream is a fairly creamy consistency with a faint scent akin the the rest of the fresh herbal smell of the dermalogica line. It is not exceedingly heavy, oily or greasy, and doesn't seem to excaberate oil production. I like the tube as it is hygenic, and as stated above, I do not think the price is all that bad for a product that works for me.

I did not give the Skin Smoothing Cream 5 lippies only because I wish there were more state of the art anti-ageing properties and ingredients in it. However, for the very reason that this works so well for me, I might just bump up the rating later, especially as this cream has serious HG potential. If you have similar problems finding a moisturiser taht will work with your skin I reccommend trying the Skin Smoothing Cream.

So worth the price. This is my HG moisturizer. Its better at regulating oil production than active moist. My skin feels so balanced and smooth now that I've been using this. Great for all skin types.

This is about the only moisturiser I can rely on just about all year round. It gives just the right amount of moisture without oiliness, and when my skin is having a dry day, I just add a little bit more! I have tried active moist and intensive in sample form, but didn't get on with those. I have super combo skin and can from one extreme to the other. This stuff lasts me ages as on most days I don't need too much - a large pea size does my whole face and neck. Love the fact its in a tube too so I can dispense the right amount in a hygienic way.
I have taken one lippie off because of the smell - smells like sausage meat! But the smell doesn't linger, thankfully!

Edit: 29/05/12 I have never had clear skin but more recently I have had some really bad inflamed spots appear. I thought it was down to my skin purging as I have started using a Clarisonic Mia. But I have been using that for about 5 weeks now and they are getting worse. Never had such big angry infected spots before. So out of interest I stopped using products on my face to see if this was the cause. To my dismay it turns out it was this moisturiser. I stopped using this about 5 days ago and the spots are subsiding and no more are appearing. Such a shame as it moisturises my skin really well, but can't use it as I am having such a bad reaction from it.

This is one of my Dermalogica favourites. I have used both Active Moist and Intensive Moisture Balance- I would repurchase neither.

This cream does give my skin a smoothness and even tone without making it too oily looking. I would have repurchased until I found out about the parabens that are apparently in the cream. So I'm not sure if I would again.

I have very oily skin, yet somehow it is very prone to dryness and flaking. I usually use Active Moist, but on dryer days, I use this. If I apply too much it makes me shiny. Instead of piling a lot on, apply 2 or 3 thin layers and let it sink in before doing the next.

This might be the moisturiser with the biggest visible effect on my skin.
I've been testing with a trial size - I used it in the Summer for a few weeks, also tried it in Winter. Skin feels amazingly smooth after applying at night and in the morning it's still comfortable even in Winter (I have dry-combination skin).
I also felt that it didn't clog my pores or create breakouts and maintained a healthy glow.
The cons: I'm really not crazy about the amount of ingredients in it, including the silicon and the retinyl palmitate. It's a great amount of chemicals, but one could also think that if the list is so big then it probably only has a very little amount of each. And I agree that the smell is not pleasant, it's slightly bitter, but it honestly doesn't bother me and it doesn't linger.
In comparison with other brands, the price seems rather inviting because it really lasts a long time and the results are there.
But I'll hesitate to buy this again because of the ingredients.

I used to worship the dermalogica_ skin smoothing cream, I found it really moisturising on my dry skin at the time and applied it every morning and night, after a couple of months my skin had improved greatly and if I were ever to go on a foreign holiday the dermalogica skin smoothing cream would be the first thing I would chuck into my suitcase ! I advise any one who wants to have smooth silky skin to buy this !

I bought a travel size of this to try it out. The moisturizer simply doesnīt have the effect on my skin as it is supposed to have.
The big cons are:
Parabenes
Silicones
Especially the silicones (dimethicone for example) in a cream make the cream stay on my skin all day long. The cream never sinks into my skin and I hate this feeling.
The parabenes are very bad for your skin. I admit that I would have accepted the parabenes if I just got the promised hydrating effect. Unfortunately, there was no better hydration than with my usual moisturizer. I even tried my usual moisturizer on the right side of my face and the dermalogica on the left. I can tell no difference. I totally missed the hydrating effect most of the reviewers raved about. Or Iīm simply used to moiturizers without silicones, so Iīm reacting more sensitive whenever a cream with silicones is put on my skin.
On top of that, the smell is not very pleasant. And I like my moisturizers without perfume, so Iīm used to products, which donīt smell sweet.
Overall, not the right product for me.

Best.Moisturiser.Ever.
I have been using this moisturiser for the last 4 years. Every now and then I think there might be something better out there and buy some ridiculously expensive moisturiser only to be disappointed. And I keep coming back to SSC because it really the best moisturiser I've ever used for my normal/oily skin.
This is a medium-weight cream, but once you apply it, it disappears into your skin and leaves it looking better and feeling great. No need to use a foundation primer with this moisturiser, it already does the work for you. Every foundation I've ever tried over this goes on evenly.
In winter (I live in Brisbane so it's not that cold/windy) I use this on it's own and in summer I mix it with a spray of the Multi-Active toner so it's lighter but still super hydrating. And one 100ml tube usually last me around 6-8 months, so its great value for money.

I love this. I used to use Laura Mercier Mega-moisturizer but then they reformulated their line and made the products twice as expensive. Dermalogica is not cheap (and I wish the products cost a little less than they do), but it's worth using. This moisturizer has a great texture and leaves skin feeling really hydrated. I can also use oil-free foundation with it - although I try not to wait too long before applying, it seems it's best to apply it while the skin is still moist from SSC.

My only qualms are that it doesn't have SPF (so I've started using a separate sunscreen), and I do wish the tube was bigger. But for quality, it's great and I will continue to use this over and over again.

Used in conjunction with my Dermalogica special cleansing gel and toner, I can say this moisturizer absorbs so beautifully into my skin, giving amazing hydration without making my face oily. This also provides an incredible base for my makeup, no primer needed, this smooths out skin like crazy! I can't live without this moisturizer, even though it's expensive just like every Dermalogica product, I will never go back to other brands ever again.

I'm so, so, SO on the fence about this moisturizer. I wish there were a maybe option under if I would buy again. The pros - This really smoothed my skin and gave me a nice glow. It even smoothed my nose and cheeks where I have clogged pores, even out my skin tone. My face wouldn't be oily during the day either. I mix this with one of Aveda's balancing infusion oils so I haven't had any breakouts. Everything went downhill when I decided to try the moisturizer without the oil for awhile. First off, the oil masked the smell of this stuff. It reminded me of a smell from my childhood, I can't quite place it but it was not pleasant, like a very strong medicinal smell. Second, without the oil, this stuff made me breakout. My skin was still smooth but pimply and smelly. But this works nicely with my Aveda oil so I'm torn. I actually stopped using this and used another moisturizer and my skin lost it's smoothness, so I know this stuff is working. I'm on my third tube so I guess it's safe to say I'll buy this again, but I'll be on the lookout for something better.

I had a sample of this and tried it only once. Good packaging, concistency is really light, you can spread it very easily. But the smell, it's like yeast. Really, the smell was soo horrible that I had to clean my face immediately. So I don't know if it works or not. But I know that I wonīt repurchase, just canīt stand the smell.
