This review is for the eye palette portion of this set. The palette is book style approx 5 in long by 4 wide and maybe 1/2 in high and covered in lavender sueded material..Comes with a generous mirror and a dual ended brush for application and lining..Contains 8 shadows and an eye liner..Shadow are: Napa-a deep rich grape shade w/ a touch of pink sheen,Morning Dew-a pinked off white that works well as a base, highlighter or blending,Chocolate-a deep chocolately brown,Violet-a semi matte medium lavender,Goldspun-a beiged gold..if you can't wear golds, you'll love this as the beige tones down the yellow,Rose: medium pink with a golden sheen,Marina-matte greyed medium teal,Topaz-a beautful silvered taupe and lastly Black Ebony cake liner which is a fabulous medium black liner that wears like iron..I used it with MAC mixing medium and had trouble removing it..LOL The quality of these shadows are wonderful..Richly pigmented and easy to blend..Even the little brush that comes with it is nice which I can't usually say about brushes that come with sets..The liner end is very fine but firm and the application end is fluffy yet small so you can do a wash or crease work.Fabulous all around really

::Pant pant:: I must admit that this is one lemming that was worth it. I've gone all over - tossed and turned and just about giving up the ghost for a coveted item to find it really wasn't what I expected or in some cases wanted it to be. Then...Laura Mercier heard my cry AND came to my rescue. I should have known it would be wonderful. This from the woman who created blue mood and my first ever LM lippie (French Roast) and I adore these shades. I went back and forth on her site, posted here asking for recommendations and when I finally broke down...there were no more. Off to eBay and they were going for way more than I wanted to spend. I finally grabbed it at $61! These books are way at the top of the list of beauty products/cosmetics. First off, it is brilliant - three separate books - thin, lightweight and containable (not sure that is a word...yet). I can take them all or I can take the lips, or the eyes or the cheeks. BRILLIANT!!! How convenient to house these treasures in a portfolio (mine is a burgundy toned "skin" print with a cute closure) Each individual mirrored book is also covered in shades of deep pink, cherry red, and warm lilac. The colors...amazing. Wear one, wear two, wear three, mix, wear and blend them all - never the same look twice! The cheek book consists of four flattering blushes - Winter Bloom, Orange Blossom, Golden Glow, Warm Glow. Nice pigment and even better for layering - think day to night in all of the books. You can individualize everything with a light dusting of two shades or more. The eye book (Be still my heart) a sumptuous and delicious palette of nine colors, complete with a double ended applicator is provided. Shades include Napa, Morning Dew, Chocolate, Violet, Goldspun, Rose and Topaz and if that isn't enough...voila a liner in Black Ebony. The lip book consists of eight jewel tones - Indian Summer, Heirloom, Strawberry, Pink Champagne, Lame', Amethyst, Patchouli, and Rosewater. Worn alone or blended they're all luscious and sexy and you get a lip brush. Simply put you cannot lose with this library.

I only got the eyebook from this set, although I wanted the whole thing! I think I paid around $50.00 for the eyebook and it is an incredible value IMO. You get 8 shadows that are close to full size, if not full size, and her cake eyeliner In Black Ebony. Considering that each of those is over $20.00 apiece, this is a steal! The cake liner is ideal for tightlining, and I have yet to exhaust all of the color combinations possible with the shadows. Her shadows are excellent quality too. I can't remember all of the names of the shadows off the top of my head, but you do get Topaz, Rose gold, some gold champagne color, a deep matte brown, a silky matte ivory, matte plum, and shimmery sparkly plummy/ purple, and a soft teal. This is a very versatile shadow collection in one convenient palette.

I love this palette. The eyeshadows are wonderful, great pigmentation and blendability. The only ones I don'tlike is violet light-violet dark, too ashy for me and I love purples. The rest are great and most are sold seperately. The other reviewers described the colors., I think they would work for just about anybody, and the two base shades can go with other eyeshadows you might have. The lip colors are also very nice, can wear seperatly or blend together for different looks. The cheek colors are also very nice and work with all colors in palette, but I prefer cream blushes, dry skin. Maybe in the summer I'll try them. The bronzer is too dark, but again maybe in summer with self tan. I,m looking forward to trying other Laura Mercier's eye colors.

I got this from my Mum for Xmas and I love it. This is actually my first ever piece of LM make up so I was surprised by the quality and the `freshness` of the make up look you achieve with this. There are so many different looks that can be done with this set, from summer to winter from day to night and the packaging is gorgeous, classy and functional.

I purchased just the eye book and I am very pleased. I have blues eyes as well and the colors look amazing on. This is a great find. So if you are considering buying this buy it now before it is gone. I know Neimans in Dallas still has some.

Each Christmas I decide to buy myself something extravagent that I wouldn't normally buy for myself. This year my choice was the Laura Mercier Beauty Library Set and I am thrilled with my purchase. I am so glad that I decided to purchase this at the beginning of December because right now I am finding it difficult to find this set on the internet. I have the feeling that lots of lucky ladies may be finding this under their Christmas tree this year. So far Bliss still seems to have it but it has disappeared off of Amazon.com (where I purchased mine) though you can still purchase the 3 palettes individually. The 3 palettes come in a really cute faux lizard box with a covered elastic piece that goes over a button to keep all 3 palettes from falling out - it very clever the way they designed this. It does look like a small set of library books. I love and use all three palettes. The eye palette has wonderful colors for my blue eyes - paris by night, morning dew, cocoa, violet dark, buttercream, nutmeg, violet light, bamboo and black ebony eye liner. With this many eye shadows I can do an infinite number of eye looks. I am not crazy about the double ended brush that came with this eye set as I would rather use my normal eye shadow apply brushes so that is really no problem. The face palette has two lovely shades of blush - rose bloom and orange blossom as well as a highlighter called golden glow and a gorgeous bronzer called bronzing glow. The lip palette has the following colors - courtisane, pink mist, cinnamon, passion fruit, roman moon, pink champagne, amber chiffon and pink chiffon. Again with this many colors I can do an infinite number of lip looks. This set will be great for travel - all I need in addition to this is a small container of foundation and powder and I am set to go.
