I have very oily skin and I had heard such good things about this foundation. The color matched me very well, but around midday i started to get oily. I blotted and powdered, and when i got home, i was horrified. The foundation had settled into my fine lines and my it looked really cakey. I really wanted this foundation to work for me, but i was very disappointed.

Heck NO. This foundation left me cakey and looking like someone just pie-d me. The color range is not wide. I previously bought a bottle of this stuff in Nude. Caked my face slightly but the colour was too pale and too pink. Because of that, i decided to get another bottle in Sand Beige just to give it another go. My oh my did it suck! I feel as if I've wasted my money on these 2 bottles given that they're such an expensive drugstore foundation. I want to give them away but none of my friends are the shades! Total disappointment. Probably never buying this again. :(

i purchased this in golden caramel for my NC42 skin. its a perfect match. it has enough golden tones in it so i dont look gray/ashy. as far as keeping me matte, its doing a pretty decent job. my t zone definitely needed a blot around lunch time but thats pretty normal. the color may have oxidized just a smidge, but not orange at all. my face looks very natural. i used a sponge wedge that i dampened, i dont like heavy coverage. good stuff for the price. i will update if this breaks me out or not.

I have the 24 hour formula for combination/oily skin

When I first used this, i was amazed. I have big trouble finding good foundations that last on my oily skin, and this was the one. It lasted all day, it kept the shine at bay, not oily feeling at all when touching the skin and no breakouts (i have sensitive acne prone skin).

But after almost finish one bottled, i realized i'm not completely satisfied with it.

Even though i have oily skin, i find that really mate foundations look unatural and makes skin appear "dead", also it enphasises textured skin, which is something i have. So, i realized i'm looking for a more natural look, this foundation just looks too obvious (and i'm really careful with the application in terms of tools, quantity and blending). I like it more after a few hours when my oils start to appear on my skin because it looks more natural.

I also notice that after a few hours, it starts to look patchy and somewhat dry. You can only tell in a short distance, but i'm really self concious about that especially at sun light.

I tried mixing it to my moituriser but it doesn't did anything, it looses it's staying power and coverage, and i don't really like the way it looks after a few hours... :-/

I was feeling sad because i really liked the staying power and oil control of this foundation, but after some research i realized many people had the same issues , and they were saying that the normal to dry skin formula worked better for them because it's more natural looking, more blendable and it's also oil free and no alcohol... it has oil control, besides the hydrating properties and almost the same lasting power, so i was excited to try and decided to give it a go.. i'll be updating this review as soon as i try the N/D formula ;)

NOTE: for those who are worried about this foundation to break you out, just make sure you are completely removing it at night. That's probably the reason why so many people have issues with this product. Use an oil based makeup remover, because it dissolves the foundation and remove it from the skin. Then you can follow up with a regular cleanser just to make sure it's completely removed. You can also use EVOO (that's what i use) - it's very effective at removing colorstay and also my eyemakeup, then i use my regular cleanser, and no breakouts so far after 3 months using this foundation daily! ;)

UPDATE: i bought a second bottle of this foundation while i was in love with it and to make sure i wasn't wasting it, i tried many different ways to apply it, so i could use it in a satisfatory way to me. I tried with my fingers and i loved the finish. It's still matte but meanwhile the texture of my skin has improved due to some treatments i'm using, so it looked sooo natural, it blended perfectly with my skin.

I'm not sure what i was doing wrong with the previous application (if the technique - i was using a flat top kabuki brush - the quantity or the application) but i like much better this way. i'm very happy i found a way this works for me because this foundation is still on my top favourite:) and i'm changing my initial review..

As an overall opinion this foundation is okay. I bought this after putting it off for cheaper foundations but eventually caved and bought it. I loved this foundation when I first used it and it lasted all day. I would go to school and come bag and my skin would still look flawless, I was really happy. After coming to the end of my second bottle I noticed that the colour didn't match my neck to well, I then bought it in the lightest colour Ivory. I got it home and used once the other bottle was finished. The foundation seemed different even though it was in exactly the same packaging with no sign of a new formula anywhere. The smell was similar to nail polish remover even after shaking it up it was the same. It was a struggle to apply as the foundation would not spread and always looked streaky. At school the foundtaion made my face look cakey and the sign of makeup on my face was very noticable. I think my skin had got used to the formula (immune from it). The foundation was patchy and I had no choice but to find something else. I will try this foundtaion again going back to the darker colour maybe when I have a tan because I enjoyed that formula better.

Used to use this makeup, then told my snob friend and she steered me away from it, towards expensive drugstore brands. Years later I have secretly gone back to it and love it all over again. This stuff provides coverage and the colors are great. It can be a little thick to apply so I put on a light lotion moisturizer right before and then immediately put on the makeup. Will not collect in pores but do give it a light swoosh with your finger over larger pore areas (that is, wipe it away just a little). Have been using it with Coty Airspun powder.

The bottle top is the worst. Lots of product collects in the lid and around the outside of the top. I wish they would fix this. But otherwise, I really have to say that this is a great product that will stay on all day and has not clogged my pores or irritated my skin in any way.

Im NC 20 ish yellow undertone , not fair but light skin. I wear W2 in L'Oreal true match. I picked up Buff in comb/oily skin. Although I have dry skin, I found this one was slightly lighter (from the bottle unsure if its true or not ) than the normal/Dry one so I decide to pick this one up. I would say it fits good with my skin. looks quite natural but i think its bit too beige/greyish looking so it does not have that brighting tone up on my face. its very neutral looking i would say. but im happy with the finish look its matte although i gotta really work to blend it nicely (its qutie thick) but it has full coverage and it lasts forever...even gives hard time when taking off at the end of the day. pkging is not good since it comes with no pump. but other than that its nice pkg with glass jar i think. and price wise, its quite expensive for DS foundation its about $16-22 CAD, and i would rather pay <$10 for it. i would def purchase it again when it goes on a sale for around $13CAD at walmart or sometimes at shoppers.

It provides full coverage and yet quite natural effect. I don't find it keep my face matte all day but it stayed in place for the day. I find it a little bit too heavy for summer, but for other seasons it works well.

I personnally would recommend it and repurchase it as it has a better performance so far compared to other foundations I tried before. But I must say they really need to add a pump on the bottle.

Love this stuff! This was my first foray into liquid foundation after being a devoted powder wearer for years due to my very oily skin. I decided I wanted something with more coverage and staying powder and after reading some reviews of this I thought why the heck not, it's not very expensive anyway. I really really like this! I was unsure of my colour match as I usually wear a C30 in powder or NC25 at Mac as I am quite olive toned. I picked this up in Sand Beige with the thought that it looked the most yellow toned out of the color selection and that if it was too light I could just wear some bronzer. The color match was quite good - maybe a teeny bit pale but nothing some powder couldn't fix. I was so used to having to blot every few hours while I just wore powder and having it just melt off my face to the point where it didn't look like I was wearing any makeup at all. I can wear this foundation all day long and it still looks quite good when I get home. I still do blot or powder my nose once a day or so but it is much better at controlling oil. The makeup has a good consistency and I would describe it as medium, buildable coverage. It is not for those who are looking for light or sheer coverage. On the downside, I hate that it doesn't come with a pump and that it dries quite quickly so you have to be quick with application. Overall, however, I think this is a great product at a great price point and that you should try it out if you want a good, inexpensive liquid foundation for oily skin.

Context: medium to dark Indian skin color with yellow undertones
- Matches my skin color perfectly. Rarely do foundation lines match the skin tones of minorties this well
- Medium to full coverage
- Lasts for hours
- Matte to slight shined finish
- One of the cheaper foundations on the market considering you receive a full ounce in a bottle
- I find the packaging very convenient. I prefer using my fingers to apply foundation and just flip the bottle with my finger over the opening. And when the foundation was nearing its end I just left the bottle upside down on my dresser and was able to use every last drop of foundation.
- Has never broken me out or caused any skin problems

I used to really like this foundation (but it was before i knew a lot about makeup). The color ivory is slightly too dark for me but i could get away with it. After a year of using colorstay i tried out some different foundations and moved on from colorstay.
Six months later i was running out of the foundation i was using and decided to go get another bottle of colorstay and give it a try again.
As soon as I applied it, it felt REALLY thick and heavy. It was almost impossible to blend and within 5 minutes i had an allergic reaction to it.
It just look disgusting and cakey.
If you have sensitive skin I wouldn't recommend this at all.
I don't know how i used to use this, or if they changed to formula but I wont be using it ever again.

No matter how many high end foundation i've tried i always go back to revlon colorstay. I think i've found my soulmate!
I have oily skin, mainly on my T zone which easily get very oily during the day and make up tend to slide off of my face which make me look like a total mess! I try many foundations, none of them really satisfy me like colorstay.
I am mac nc25 and the closest color i can get is sand beige, it's not the perfect color for me, it's darker than my actual skin tone. Buff might fit me better but it such a prick that there are only 5 shades available here in Indonesia :(
It's thick but very easy to blend on skin. It smells yuck but doesn't bother me too much.
The coverage is medium to full, i don't even need concealer to hide my acne scars though i usually add some to hide major scarring.
The staying power is great comparing to some high end foundations i've tried. I apply without the primer and it only gets oily on my nose after 5 hours. After 8 hours my acne scars will start to show up because the oiliness on my face so i need to touch up. With primer it will have more staying power. Also, my creme blush really stay till the end of the day :)
It doesn't cause break out to my skin, though it seems heavy but it doesnt clog pores. My skin is prone to acne, it got horrible breakout like wow using mufe hd. Ew.
I really recommend this for everyone! It's really affordable and worth the money. If it's not because of the color selection i'll give it straight 5 lippies.

I really really like this foundation, and I have been using it for years. It's one of the only drugstore foundations that don't cause my face to grease up within the hour. The foundation is pretty thick, which I like, and gives a good coverage. I wish it came with a pump, but as far as everything goes, I am a happy customer.

Just started using this foundation and first impressions are; blends very well, easy to apply, lightweight, light-medium coverage, very runny, strong smell.

I find that this foundation controls the oil for a good 8 hours and you need to reapply a powder throughout the day (as with most foundations), great colour match and makes my skin feel smooth. Colour stays all day (as indicated). Will repurchase. Good for a department store brand.

Poor packaging, would prefer a pump, so if anybody knows where I can get a pump in the UK - much appreciated!

I am in love with this foundation! The color (sand beige) matches my skin perfectly, the staying power is amazing, the coverage is great, and it doesn't even feel like I am wearing makeup! I will contunue to purchase. A lot of people do not like the bottle because it doesn't have a pump, but all I do is put my middle finger over the opening and quickly turn it over. A good amount comes out, not too much. I then apply with my fingers.

I am so impressed with this foundation! I had used Revlon colorstay over a decade ago and wasn't as impressed but heard the formula had changed since then. Up until now, my favorite foundation for my oily skin was MUFE Matt Velvet +, but Colorstay is a third of the price and just as good. I got the color 330 which is perfect for me in the winter. It does stay on all day, looks natural and doesn't feel like I have a heavy layer of makeup on my face. Will most definitely repurchase.

Revlon Colorstay #400 - Caramel is my HOLY GRAIL! This shade is a dead-on perfect match for my skin tone. I've worn this foundation for up to 15 hours and I looked as flawless in the evening as I did in the morning.

Revlon Colorstay is often compared to MAC Studio Fix Liquid. I've used them both and I believe Colorstay is actually better. MAC Studio Fix is a true full coverage foundation. It's a great product and a little goes a long way, but it's a well-documented fact that Studio Fix is definitely not for everyone. It can cause severe breakouts and most people either love it or hate it.

I prefer Revlon Colorstay because it has a more watery texture. You can easily apply it as full coverage OR use a lighter hand for medium coverage. It dries to a beautiful matte finish, does not contain harsh irritants, and costs 1/3 the price of Studio Fix. The only minor complaint is the bottle doesn't have a pump, but I can certainly live with that because Revlon Colorstay is the BEST FOUNDATION on the market bar none. You get true high-end quality at a drug store price. Who could ask for anything more? : )

This foundation has the BEST staying power I have EVER seen. do use this with a good makeup remover! I remember the first time I swatched this on my hand, I couldn't get it off with normal cleansers and it stayed on my hand for at least 3 DAYS.

I got this in 180 Sand Beige. the color is a bit greyish and dark for my NC20 skintone, so I mix it with a few drops of a liquid foundation that is lighter in color, and 1 drop of yellow pigment, and the results are perfect. the liquids help to thin out this thick foundation too.

coverage is fanfastic, not 100% but I would say about 85%. it does have a weird smell though...but that doesn't bother me too much

other foundations that I've used crease by the end of the day or look really 'oily', but this foundation does not crease or go patchy (except maybe on my nose - but I tend to rub it a lot.)

I apply this with a stippling brush (MAC 187) and it looks good :)

best foundation I've used. I will stick with this. next time I'll purchase 150 Buff instead!

I have love hate relationship with this foundation. I have oily acne prone skin and my sister and I used the foundation made for combo/oily skin and I used the powder that came with it and it kept my skin pretty matte and I didn't look like I got hit with a bucket of water in the middle of the day I did have to blot like once towards the end of the day. The bad thing about this product is that it broke me out I started to get small pimples everywhere on my face and it took me forever for my skin to get clearish again. I also hate the bottle THERE IS NO PUMP big minus for me. It also drys really fast so I have to use a wet cosmetic sponge to keep it moist enough to apply on my face. Bottom line I would not by this product again even though it kept my face pretty matte not worth the huge breakout and the very hasty application.
