Wow! Found this on sale for $2 at Big Lots and I've been trying out red lipds, so I figured for the price, if it failed then it wouldn't be too bad. but this is far from failure! The texture actually feels like a Revlon Lip Butter, because of how buttery soft it glides across the lips. The only downside is that because it's really slippery, I would need to layer a lip liner underneath for maximum staying power. But I love love love the way it feels and it looks great on my warm medium-tan skintone! And it DOES smell like a watermelon jolly rancher!

This is some great lipstick. Goes on more smoothly and easily than anything else I have ever tried. Very moist, feels just like some water is on your lips (very lightweight). Smells like melon, but not overly so. You can smell the melon when putting it on, but once you have it on your lips, you don't smell it anymore. Has a shiny, red finish. Very, very moist, very silky, soft feel. Only drawback is that is does rub off easily, so some reapplying is going to be necessary. Good color coverage. Takes only 1 or 2 swipes and presto! your lips have changed color and texture. I can wear this stuff all day at work, usually only reapply once after lunch, and so many times I forget I am even wearing it because it is very lightweight.

I think it'd be fair to say that this is the much more young and flirty version of my typical red lipstick, Revlon's Really Red. Where Really Read is very matte and demure, Royal Red is satiny and vivacious.
It's most definitely more forgiving where application errors come in as it's not as staunch and will wipe away much more easily without staining. I also feel like the finish of this lipstick can make your application look more even and crisp, especially if you tend to apply lipstick along the edge of your lip line or even slightly outside it. Sometimes it's hard to make each side symmetrical, but this lipstick sort of disguises any irregularities there might be.
It's got an incredibly bendable consistency that I think is compatible with any method of application or any preference of wear. It'll blend out easily when dabbed to make the perfect stain. Applied full strength it's a very bold true red color with the twist of a juicy and sensuous glaze. As it's such a moist lipstick, I wouldn't plan on wearing it all day without a liner- especially not in this heat. The color its self is a true red, maybe with a tiny smidgen of blue added in but certainly not enough to keep it from being pretty much universally flattering. As other people have noted, this lipstick smells JUST LIKE a watermelon flavored Jolly Rancher. I love it!
I think that if you're looking for a nice moisturizing red shade with a little hint of playful mischief, this is the one for you. It's great during the spring and summer when matte lipsticks can look a little out of place on dewy, bright complexions. You'll never have to worry about this drying out your lips either.

Cheapo lipstick. It's like $7 or something here in the drugstore. Perfect red lipstick that's cheap and moisturizes the lips! Smells lovely of watermelon but it's more of a warmer orange red than it is a blue based red, so beware of that. It does tend to come off so I have to reapply when I eat or drink or I have a nasty habit of licking my lips but other than that, great cheap lipstick that does the job.

Am in love with this lipstick!
For reference im an Nc20 with yellow undertones to my skin andd my lips are fairly pigmented.
color: bright red with bluish-orangey undertones( if that makes sense, its almost like a neutral)
Scent: sweet wartemelon smell, thats not over powering, just subtle and nice.
texture: creamy and smooth
application; very hydrating and spreads on evenely , even on my uncoditioned lips, it dosent emphasize lines and cracks.
pigmentation: can go from a sheer ( i use it like a lipstain, just lightly dabbing on my lips) to full coverage when applied liberally.
Verdict: this is amazing, im one of thoose people who look absolutely horrible with the wrong shade of lipstick on, but this is one of the only reds that work on my skintone! truly a gem. i recommend you give it a shot! I prefer this to my mac lipsticks which just look like clay on my lips sometimes! highly recommended.

This is an amazing shade of red and I think it would suit most skin tones. I have light olive skin with slightly yellow undertones and need warm color lipsticks but this works really well on me.
A couple of complaints. It is so creamy that you have to blot after applying it or it will smear very quickly. It's hard to apply neatly because it is so creamy and also because I find the lightly curved shape makes it difficult to apply a neat outline to the lips. I tend to fill my lips in with a red lipliner, apply this, rub my lips together and then blot really well. This gives me a matt, almost stained look that wears really well. An excellent daytime look if done this way and for winter or those days when you want a vintage glam look that is not too over the top.

I might call myself a connoisseur of red lipsticks. I have been a longtime fan and loyalist to MAC reds. Always a fan of Ruby Woo, Russian Red, and MAC Red, but I picked this up on clearance at the Duane Reade the other day, and I have to say I AM IN LOVE. This lipstick is amazing. It's hydrating, long lasting, non feathering, satiny, smells good, and is one of the most flattering shades of bright cherry red I have ever seen. HG of red lipsticks right here!

Overall this is a great red lipstick and I absolutely love the watermelon scent! I'm not a huge fan of the packaging. In my opinion it looks kind of cheap and "drug store" like. I would repurchase this again though. It's got such a smooth and creamy texture to it. Which brings me to another point, don't skip the lip liner with this stuff, as you shouldn't with any bright or dark lip looks --- it will feather.

My first red lipstick that I have every bought.
I was always a little afraid that I'd turn out too 'vampy' if I wore a red coloration on my lips because I am so fair skinned. But going for a rockabilly look I found that this brand and the particular color would fit my budget rather than purchasing an expensive brand like MAC. (My boyfriend also pushed me in to getting it :))
I love how it pops out, shines as if it comes with gloss and feels like it moisturizes my lips. But I dislike the fact that it seems a little more easier to spread outside of ones lip line if you don't use liner. But It will always be a love

I bought this awhile ago when I was looking to try red lipstick without spending lots of money. On me this lipstick looks just a little too pink to be a true red. The texture of the lipstick though, feels really nice and smooth, so much nicer than the MAC Ruby Woo that I just bought today (that's obvious though, considering this lipstick is creme while the other is matte). If you're on the hunt for a true red lipstick, try this one because it's just so cheap and it feels so nice. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for me.

Love that this smell like watermelon but this shade was too bright for me :( I was trying to do a pin-up look with it but it was to noticeable and bright.

Very VERY impressed with this lipstick. This is my first Maybelline lipstick...Im a bit of a make up snob and use higher end lipsticks but I am on a quest to find the perfect red lippy for me so Im trying all I can get my hands on. I love the colour on my yellow based olive skin, very vibrant and rich and goes well with my dark brown hair and eyes. The formula is wonderfully moisturising. I found after a mid morning coffee and sandwich, my lips were still heavily pigmented, though not as glossy (obviously :P ). Lasted a good 3 hours on me. Am definately going to repurchase and will be trying their other colours too.

This Lipstick is breath taking! TRUE red. I have purchased tons of red lipsticks and always found them too orange/pink/glittery/watery. This one is highly pigmented aplies smoothly and lasts a loong time in me. There is no glitter at all in mine. It is a little too shiny for my taste so I do find it necessary to blot if i dont want to be too dramatic but otherwise go for it! I wear this color daily and don't find it too daring. I pair it with a little black eyeliner and big black lashes for a retro glam look. Can't go wrong if you're looking for a retro true red

I like colors that "pop" and I was hoping this would do that for me. And I do have reds that stand out and compliment my skin tone. However, this doesn't suit me and I notice most when I look at photos of myself. On the plus side this is a matte lipstick if that is what you are looking for.

I was going to spend a LOT of money to buy a true red from Chanel or MAC. I saw this yesterday and decided "why not"? I love it- it is exactly the shade of red I was looking for. It's bright red- like a cherry red color. This is the red lipstick you wear when you want to get noticed. Red lipstick has always been my thing but the red I wear isn't a true red but more of a muted red or a bit too orangey - which just wasn't doing it for me. I wanted the old Hollywood red. This is a perfect TRUE red lipstick like someone else mentioned. I personally think it looks good on any skin tone. The trick to how red you want it is layering. I layered it last night and it was definitely a stop in your tracks red. This morning I just did one layer and a blot for work and it works for the daytime.
Also it stays on and looks great after a few hours - has a muted look (more like a stained lip). It's not as moisturizing as I thought but once I put on some vaseline - it goes on really well. If you want your lips to stay the same red as when you first put it on, you have to keep reapplying as this lipstick definitely is not a long-lasting type.

The color is lovely. It's more pinkish/magenta than true red on me. It's bright, but not obnoxiously so. I wouldn't feel over-the-top wearing this color during the day or to class.
The lipstick did nothing to mosturize, but it's no more drying other lipsticks I've had, so it's not a huge complaint.

Edit: Sadly, discontinued! After this line was discontinued, I discovered I like this one a lot and don't like their new line as much. :-( Changed to WOULD buy again.
This is a good red lipstick. I really like the bright, slightly blue-toned red color, but it is a tad too creamy and shiny for my taste. Blotting is absolutely necessary with this one. I didn't find the staying power to be good, but perhaps that had more to do with the circumstances - I wore it to a Christmas party, which was the only time I tried it long-term.
Thankfully, there is no glitter in my tube either!

I recently got my make up done by a MA and he put a real true red on me. I have fair skin, dark hair, and hazel eyes. Everyone told me I looked like a movie star! I’ve tried reds before, but it’s scary so the only reds I’ve worn out in public are glosses b/c a lot of lipsticks turn out too pink, or too glittery. It’s strange. I was going to spend about $20 on the tube used on me during may make-over, but decided to hold off and see if I couldn’t find something less expensive one to see if I would really use it. It was a perfect match! First of all THERE IS NOT GLITTER, so it must have been reformulated. I also find it very smooth and moisturizing. The trick is, so I learned form the MA is to use a lip liner (I use rimmel exaggerate) and apply with a lip brush. This way you don’t over do it. I really like it, it wears well, it doesn’t feather. For day time, I sometimes dilute it with a gloss, but the color isn’t too harsh or extreme IMO, so I do wear it during the day sometimes when I’m feeling daring. I strongly recommend this if you are thinking of venturing in this direction; I imagine this TRUE RED will look good on most people.
