Best cleanser I have used in a while and keeps my acne at bay! It cleanses gently but thoroughly and afterward my skin doesn't feel stripped at all but clean and well hydrated. It's a staple product and I will continue to use. The bar lasts forever you just have to put in in a soap keeper. I use a cleanser brush for my face when using this and it works very well.

I bought a bar of Basis for my daughter who has moderate acne to use once a day as an alternative for her "harsher" cleansers. She used for a few weeks and it did a fine job at gently cleansing her face but didn't make any big improvement in the clarity of her skin. I have since started using this about once a day (usually at night) and it works well on my 40+ facial skin and removes most of my eye makeup with one gentle cleansing. It's a big bar for the money but you have to keep it up out of any water or it will melt--it's a glycerin-type bar. Overall, I like it and would purchase again. It does not leave my skin feeling tight like I need to moisturize right away but I usually use a moisturizer at night after cleanse my face anyway. Now daughter has been put on a Retin-A cream and using Cuticura soap for her acne twice a day so I guess I'll be finishing the Basis bar. I have so many cleansers that I doubt I'll need to repurchase any time soon. Basis is a good, gentle bar soap for those with normal to combination skin, and would probably work just as well on sensitive skin due to its ingredients. It's also worth the price.

I was a little hesistant to use this since I prefer liquid cleansers to soaps for my face, but I was pleasantly surprised by the results. It removed all my liquid foundation and took care of some minor breakouts I had on my forehead. It was cheap and didn't have a strong aroma. The only complaints I had is that it leaves my skin a bit taut after I get out the shower, but nothing a moisturizer can't handle. I might switch to something else since I get bored easily. I rotate this with noxzema foam wash, but for now this works great in keeping my skin in check.

I wish I could give this a 4.5 or something. The only reason it's not a 5 is b/c Basis's cleaner clean face wash is my HG. I use this one in the morning and the other one at night. Love them both, and it's easy to afford both (and be lazy and not have to carry one back and forth from the shower to the sink am and pm). Highly, highly recommend them both. Oh, and I like cleaner clean better b/c it's a liquid, rinses easier and cleans better (NO makeup residue). Have to be sure and rinse this one's lather really well or else use a toner to prevent soap residue.

Ok first thing; packaging is a cardboard box no unrecyclable plastic bottles, so that is a plus.


The price is unbeatable, only $2.29 at Ulta b&m.


This doesn't stain my skin, towels, and sink orange like Neutrogena face soap. It cleanses very well without leaving my skin overly dry.


Slight downsides, it stings if you get this in your eyes and if you have very sensitive dry skin I wouldn't use it as it might strip too much oil out of your skin (I have very oily combo skin). Also, it is a bar so you need to keep this in a good soap dish otherwise it will get mushy.


I will continue to buy this bc the positives far outweigh any negatives for me.

I have acne pron skin and I LOVE Dermalogica products but they are quite expensive. This bar is perfect for when you want to switch off from harsher cleansers. I even feel this is better than Purity from Phoilosophy! I also would choose it over Johnson & Johnson Gentle Cleanser. It completly removed my make up it was a VERY gentle but working cleanser, I would purchase it again my only negative thing I have is it comes only in a bar. I am not a fan of bar soap but for the price I should not complain, It is also a bit hard to find not all drugstores carry this particular bar,

ooo! my HG cleanser! i love this stuff. it makes my face feel soft and clean. <33 its also helping with a horrible breakout i had.

I like this bar soap. The scent is light, fresh, and sweet. It lathers well and does an amazing job of getting my face clean! I had NO traces of any of my makeup after using it which is almost unheard of. My skin felt very soft and smooth. It did leave my skin tight afterward, but moisturizer took care of it easily. Nice bar soap cleanser and it doesn't break down to mush if you leave the bar in the shower.
