I switched to this because I am searching for products not having been tested on animals. I know that TBS is owned by L'Oreal (which does), but I am willing to believe TBS's own claims that it does not test on animals. This cleanser is a pleasant product, probably best suited to people with dry skin. It does not lather. (I never use foaming or lathering cleansers because they make my skin itch.) I use this product under the shower and I enjoy it. It has a mild, baby powder scent. I don't wear foundation so cannot comment on how well this cleanser would remove it, but I expect you would want something with a bit more oomph.
EDIT 3/12/2012: I have used this product to remove makeup and it worked fine. However, I have discovered that The Body Shop's Aloe gentle cleanser is fragrance-free, which I prefer, so when I have used the Vitamin E I am planning to switch to the Aloe.

this is such a nice cleanser. i think dry skin people would like this. it is extra moisturizing. although i wouldnt recommend using this to remove makeup because when i tried it, it felt like a HUGE amount of makeup is stuck on my face, its better if you use makeup remover first then this :)
anyways i love how moisturizing this makes my face feels. i complete it with the vit e toner which is little less moisturizing than this but it kinda balance it out. love it :)

I got this cleanser with its toner and moisturizer in February. This was my first 'skincare routine' ever. Despite that my skin didn't seem to be grateful about it. I have normal skin, rarely breaks out. It had never been taken care of, other than occasional exfoliation (without moisturizer at the end).
The cleanser is gentle, has a milky texture, it doesn't lather. I'm not crazy about it. I don't feel like it's cleaning my skin, cause it leaves a film of grease on my face. Ever since I do this Vitamin E routine, I get more breakouts (maybe it's a higher stress level at work, but maybe it's the routine too. Even if it's not from the routine, the product doesn't help calming my now more frequent acnes).
Will I be repurchasing? It's not special enough. Sorry, Body Shop, "good enough" does not cut it for me.

I wouldn't say its a very powerful cleanser, but it does make my skin feel soft and moisturized after. What I like that its very gentle and so it doesn't make me break out, which I find a lot of drug store cleansers do to me ><

I got this in a "buy a moisturizer, get a facial wash for free" sale. I picked this up with the vitamin E night cream. At the time, I had dry patches on my face and I was desperately looking to get rid of it. I figured the two products paired together would be nice. I'm really glad I picked this up. I used this as my morning and night face wash for a while before I decided to switch again. This is a non-foaming cleanser so if you're used to foaming cleansers, it would take a bit to get used to. Without it foaming, I get the impression that its not doing much cleaning at night, so I switched the tea tree face wash as my nightly wash. I use this in the morning when I know my face isn't as dirty. It feels like a silky moisturizer that you rinse off. And my flakey skin healed after about 2 weeks of using this. It makes my skin feel smooth and supple after washing my face. Would highly recommend it.

I started using this product due to over exfoliating with drugstore salicylic acid products when I was experiencing a break out. I don't have acne prone skin at all, and rarely experience more than one or two pimples at one time, so I knew something was up. It turns out the acne products had caused painful cystic acne due to trapped oil. My mother (an esthetician) reccomended I use something to replenish the mositure to my face, something gentle & nourishing. So I stumbled across this set at Ulta. I have been using the cream cleanser, toner, and mositure cream together for about two weeks or so. It completely (and I mean COMPELTELY) deminished all of my acne, my face is completely clear & frankly, has never looked better. Not only has it cleared all of my acne, but it also significantly evened my skin tone (which was patchy and red due to the exfoliation). This cleanser is very gentle, it almost feels like you're rubbing straight cream into your skin. I massage it in until it feels like there's nothing left. I had to get used to a nonlathering face wash, but now I don't think I'll go back. After using it, my skin feels so soft and mositurized without the greasy feeling.
So over all:
Pros - gentle, immediate feeling of moisture to the skin, adds unbeatable softness to dry areas without making skin greasy. It feels luxerious & pampering, and it's affordable.
Cons - when you're not used to a facial cleanser that lathers up, it can be an adjustment.
I highly reccomend this for people with dry or combination skin, it works wonders.

First of all the package of this annoys me. Why could it be a squeeze tube?? I feel like a hard plastic bottle it's not the smartest way to get the product out.
But on to the actual product. I didn't read any reviews on it, and I just went out and got it because the lady on the store said it was a popular one. It's very nice indeed. The smell is great, your skin feels very soft but I don't know if it really cleans, it certainly doesn't remove makeup. That been said I think this will be genious for winter when my face gets a bit too dry because since this is a cream, and not a gel, its a bit more moisturizing.
Anyway, it's not that expensive and it feels nice.

I'd only buy Body Shop products in the UK, due to them being a lot cheaper than the US store. It's £7 there, and worth it. This made my skin so soft! It gives you such a nourished feeling, and massaging the cream into your skin makes you feel so relaxed. It definitely helps improve the health of your skin. The Vitamin E infuses and over time, everything improves. This is a must for dry, flaky skin. My only complaint is that nothing in the formula is programmed to fight off the occasional pimple, but that's a very minor thing in comparison.

So, I've been using this cleanser together with the toner and the moisturiser from the vitamin e series for almost a month now. And I really like it! The only thing I don't like about this cleanser is that it doesn't really take off all of my make up, I have to use the toner to get rid of the residue. But that works fine for me! Other than that, this cleanser is great. It has a pleasant smell, and does not irritate my sensitive/dry/acne prone skin! After rinsing my face with this, my skin feels smooth and hydrated. But a moisturiser is a must for everyone, even though you don't think that you need one - you do! I highly reccomend the Vitamin E Moisture Cream. Going to do a review on that one shortly! :)

I have a combination skin and in fact I like to use gel cleansers. Now, it is winter and my skin feels dry, I bought this cleanser while searching for a gentle cleanser for my winter dry skin. This is a very good inexpensive cleanser, does not leave residue on skin, my skin feels clean, cleans my makeup and does not cause extra oil production. Btw, I also use its toner and love it.

Great during the winter when my skin gets really dry after a shower. This keeps it from getting tight. It's too heavy for summer.

this is my go to cleanser. I have combination/oily skin and am prone to breakouts so I usually opt for gentle cleansers such as this. even though I have been known to try out other cleansers over the years (I'm a product junkie!) this is definitely one that I always go back to.
just some extra info on how I like to use it....I take a small amount and gently massage into my face all over, this takes off all my makeup. Although it does work in getting eyemakeup off, I do tend to use a different eye makeup remover beforehand. after massaging it in, i take a damp face cloth and gently wipe away all the makeup with that. I then splash my face with warm water, and cleanse a second time, this time actually cleansing my skin as the first time only removes makeup. I then rinse it off, sometimes using the cloth again if I have had a particular heavy amount of makeup on.

i've been using this product for around a month now (along with the toner, which i'm also writing a review on), and i bought it for £7. on the packaging it says that it is "daily cleansing with antioxidant protection and a unique skin-softening complex." the fact that it contains antioxidants is such a bonus, and everyone wants some of that protection. am i right? it makes you feel confident that your skin will be safe and protected.
i love the smell of this. it doesn't have a smell in particular -- the only ways i think i could describe it are by saying it smells clean and of light, fresh lotion. it is very creamy, and it infact looks a moisturiser, but as you apply it you'll realise how light it is and how easily it blends and sinks into the skin. i suffer from very dry skin, and the fact that this is creamy is a bonus, and i'm not afraid it will tighten or dry my face (by the way, it's suitable for all skin types).
on the back of the bottle, it is said to "effectively remove make-up and impurities. leaves your skin clean, soft and supple. with wheat germ oil." the fact that the word OIL is in there probably isn't reassuring for those with oily skin, and if you're wary of that, i wouldn't recommend buying this, just incase, however i wouldn't know what it would be like for you as i don't suffer with oily skin. as for removing make-up, well, i'm not sure whether it does or not, just because you don't remove this, you just let it sink into your skin, so it's hard to know whether it does remove excess make up or not, but that's why the toner comes in handy. as for the clean, soft and supple skin, i do feel as though this cleanser provides that. it leaves me skin feeling very soft and clean, and my skin is pretty supply anyway because i'm a skincare freak that is only 16 years old.
i personally will try other cleansers after this product, just because i'd like to try other ones out and i don't feel as though this provides enough proof that it does what it says on the bottle. i've not noticed a dramatic difference to my skin, which is why i'll be trying other products, but i would still buy this again :)

This product feels like lotion! It smells soooo good and it cleanses my face pretty well. Although it is quite expensive (14ish dollars), I feel like I've tried other gentle cleansers and it works a little better than this. I do like this and would repurchase but for the price, I'd probably try something different. It cleanses and it's gentle to the skin and it does provide moisture to the skin as well! Good product.

To tell you the truth, this is an ok product. It is creamy as a cleanser which is different if youre not used to that. It has a nice smell. The only down side is the fact that it doesnt remove make up. Therefore when using a toner, you see alot of make up residue that the cleanser didnt remove. If you want a cleanser from the body shop that removes makeup really well, it is the The Body Shop - Nutriganics Foaming Facial Wash.

The Body Shop's products generally make a lot of promises: glowing skin, shining hair, soft lips, an ironing out of fine lines blah blah blah. And all they have to back this up is the power of natural products, very little of which actually make it into the product - certainly not enough to make a big difference.
I'm all for fair-trade ingredients - but I'm also all for products that stand up to their claims.
That said, the Vitamin E range makes very few claims but delivers on what it promises. It's for all skin types and will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING more than what the products are supposed to do anyway. The cleansers cleanse, the toners tone, the moisturisers moisturise and the exfoliators scrub. That's it. No blemish reduction, sun protection or general upliftment from everyday ugliness.
The cream cleanser is really creamy, white, spreadable and deep cleansing without leaving behind a disgusting oily film. The flip-open cap and tiny opening allows for no wastage. You don't have to tug too hard at eyelashes (though Clinique's Take the Day Off Balm is more effective for eye MU), or go through cotton ball after cotton ball to get waterproof eyeliner and foundation out. The fragrance is light - pleasant but unmemorable, which is really how it should be.
This is after all a basic cleanser. It won't break you out, make you wrinkle your nose with a bad smell, react badly with a toner of a different brand or offer sub-standard cleansing. I do so love a product that quietly does it work without putting on a show. This is it.

first of all, my skin is extremely dry. Especially during the winter, and living in Canada, it is absolutely horrible. I use this cleanser every morning and every night, and I am very pleased with the results. It doesn't foam up like most cleansers, in fact it feels like a moisturizer, but using the cleanser alone it made my skin feel soft and supple. The price is a bit much, but not that bad. I will definitely be repurchasing. It's kinda hard to get the cleanser out of the bottle, but if you hold it upside down and give it a good shake it'll come out much easier.

I have used bottles of Vit E cleanser and dun normally repurchase things as I like to try new ones. haha I dun really like spending too much money on cleansers. I use this as a makeup cleanser and double cleanse with my usual foam cleanser. If you were to use this as a wipe off cleanser, this is gonna feel greasy. My purpose is to remove makeup so perhaps that's why the thick texture never bothered me. Removes my stubborn makeup as well. thumbs up.
