This is the ONLY thing that has consistently taken care of my hormonal teenage- and young adult-acne.
I despise the packaging as it leaks all crazy-like if I'm not careful to keep the jar level. I do however keep it in a drawer, which helps. (It had a tendency to fall out of my medicine cabinet so I became too afraid to keep it there, lol!)
My skin is fair-golden-olive, which is so hard to color-match, and therefore I'd rather just have good skin so I don't have to layer on foundation (ha, don't we all). When I get acne, which is all the time for the past ten years save my two bouts of Accutane (yes! TWO!), my skin instantly gets dark after the acne heals. These pads clarify my skin so super quickly that by the end of the week I already look brighter and smoother--and cleaner, you know what I mean? Like the way I expect to look after a facial.
Not only do my darkened spots lighten, but these pads also successfully heal my blackheads and cystic acne :D Hooray! They burn a bit at first, but don't turn my face red. I assume it's the witch hazel and aloe acting as anti-inflammatory agents.
These are a bit pricey at $36/60 pads, but I use one side of the pad in the AM and the other side in the PM. I also use them on my neck, chest and back. They last long enough to make it a good deal, and are bursting with ingredients that both feed and heal your skin! I always repurchase, because these are gold.
There are some reviews where people are complaining that there is too much alcohol in this, it burns like hell, dries out their face etc. These are the MAX correction pads! MAX! There are GENTLE ones that are, in fact, gentler. The gentle correction pads have the more soothing ingredients in a higher concentration, half the alcohol content of the max correction pads, and 0.5% salicylic acid as opposed to 2.0%. Before people hate on these, I just wanted to point that out.
I do also find that the higher alcohol content helps cut down on the stickiness factor that some topical treatments have--however I have fairly resilient oily skin. So think about your skin sensitivity and type before you buy! These things are serious business!

Peter Thomas Roth has extremely quickly become one of my favorite skincare lines that offer a little extra "umph". I stumbled upon this particular product when I was on the hunt for a new day cream (of course) and immediately fell in love with the fast acting results. The Max Complexion Correction Pads does exactly what it promises. After a couple of days use, it revels new and fresh skin on your face. It brightens and clears the skin in just a couple of wipes. Oh and yah, they smell divine. Brilliant! Read the beauty blog here:

My skin is oily/combination. Super, super tempremental and I have quite a bit of acne. I wake up one day with almost no pimples and then the next morning I look like crap again. Ok so after 6 very, very disappointing months on Clinique's Anti-Blemish 3 step, I spent about a month using nothing but moisturizser on my skin.
I left my mother to go wild at Chanel in Myer one day and said that I'd be back after a coffee. Long story short my mother decided to go over budget and kill all my PTR dreams that day :( Luckily after all the money I'd spent that year at Myer they had given me a $40 gift card. While I was speaking to the Kit Cosmetics SA she advised me to come back and buy some other stuff for my sensitive skin and not the harsher products I had eagerly suggested.
Sooo we spoke about the pads and I bought them.
Fast foward 3 weeks and my skin is noticeably different. I have much, much less breakouts, no irritation, no excessive drying or even a little, my skin is taking in creams and my serums better and my skin is much smoother and brighter.
I haven't been in to buy the cleansers and gels from PTR that I want so ( I wouldn't suggest this to everybody) I use a new pad at night, the exfoliating side, and at night I'll put the flat side back in the jar and use that in the AM.
I am really, really happy with them and will repurchase and slow down my use to 3-4 times a week when I have proper cleanser and and the gels that I'd like. Thank you Peter Thomas Roth!!!

Love these, despite the high price tag. Originally bought them as an alternative to DDF's glycolic acid toner simply because I find the pads more convenient than free-flowing liquid, but this stuff works better AND faster than DDF at fading my acne scars. Definitely something I have repurchased several times and will continue to do so until finding something cheaper.

I really wanted to like this product, and at first I really did until i noticed that i was breaking out all over the place. I started using this cause i had been breaking out in small pimples on my forehead. I started using this and my face looked great for a couple of days ( keep in mind i only used once at night). Then I started getting pimple in other places of my face; cheeks, chin, even on my upper lip. I thought it might be the purging process, but it just never stopped purging. I continued to breakout in big cyctic pimples all over. I had to stop using it. Even know after I quit using the pads I am getting big pimples on my forehead. Needless to say I am in a worse place now then before I started using the pads. I stopped about a week ago and my face is just getting back to normal. This got returned to Sephora real fast.
One pro was that when I did get a pimple while using the pads it was usually gone within a day or so, but i just couldnt keep up with the number of pimples popping up.

These are INTENSE. I've been using these on and off for about 8 months now. I have super-oily skin, and before using these, I had blackheads all over the place and tiny red bumps all over my forehead. Even after the first use, I was AMAZED at how nice my skin looked.
Like others have said, these burn quite a bit, especially for the first few days. The smell is also enoughy to make my eyes water, but I'm growing to like it a little, strange as that may be. I am cheap, so I cut them in half, and use half a pad every other night before I go to bed, with nothing else on my face (if I use them more than every other night, my skin gets flaky). When I wake up, my skin absolutely glows. These pads have noticeably reduced the appearance of my pores and totally eliminated the smaller acne bumps I get. I still get the occasional deep cyst, the kind that hurt really bad and turn red but never come to a head, and this doesn't seem to make any difference with those. I get them so rarely, though, that it doesn't really matter much.
I'd say if you have oily, rebellious skin that's blackhead prone and doesn't respond to gentler treatments, definitely try these. If your skin is sensitive or very dry, probably not a good idea. These are definitely HG status in my book, but I took off one star for the leaky packaging. The jar is not travel-friendly!

Woo, this did a number on my skin.
A little history of my skin: I have very tough skin (i.e., very few products break me out) but lots of scarring, mostly from hormonal acne. I bought these hoping this would get rid of my problem acne, or at least reduce it during that time of the month.
First, the packaging: It comes in a neat little jar. However, it LEAKS if tilted in the slightest, even if the cap is screwed on completely tightly, so you must be careful when you store these or take these traveling.
The scent isn't unpleasant to me, if a little overpowering. It doesn't last on your skin, though, so it's not really an issue for me.
Each pad is surprisingly soaked in solution and to my pleasant surprise there is a lot of solution left in the jar (hence the leakage) which is nice because you're not getting cheated out of any of the actual treatment. I used to cut each pad in half (make sure to wipe off the blades of the scissor afterwards or they'll rust!) because half of a pad had more than enough solution for my entire face. This makes the price less obnoxious, as it is really 120 nights' worth of treatment for $30. Not too shabby.
It tingles/burns when first applied and your skin will turn red. I thought that would go away over time, but the redness stayed. In fact, it pretty much highlighted all the flaws in my skin. Old healing acne scars started coming back and getting angrier. I thought this was just the purging phase. But my skin kept purging, and my acne started becoming really painful and popped up everywhere. I don't really want to get into the nasty details but my skin was not in a good place. I will say though that while my acne used to come and linger for literally weeks, with these pads although they popped up everywhere they were gone within a day or two.
I tried everything: using it 2x a day (the worst results), using it 1x a day (still sucky), and then eventually just stopped using them and my acne is no longer popping up everywhere.
My skin was absolutely demolished by these pads and I'm currently desperately trying to fix it. Needless to say, these remained unused in the furthest depths of my drawer and I refuse to bring them back out, not even if my moral enemy asked me for some skincare help.
- Ask for a trial first. As with any products, your skin is different than mine and you could have a pleasant experience with these.
- You have tough skin
- You have sensitive skin

I feel very conflicted with these pads... I really wanted to like them but they're just not doing it for me. I've had these weird tiiiiny tiny little bumps on my forehead for almost a year now and someone suggested I use something with glycolic acid in it to possibly clear them up. I liked the idea of the pads because then I could use my regular sensitive skin stuff for the rest of my beauty routine. I've been using these every other day for approx 3 months. I think they are OK.... the smell doesn't bother me in the least, I think they sting about as much as any other treatment pad type thing, and surprisingly they haven't dried me out anymore than usual. I cut them in half so they have lasted a good while. The problem is, they just haven't changed anything really. After the first week of using them my skin majorly purged but that went away after a couple days and since then there is no difference that I can notice. Oh, and yes... the container does tend to leak so be sure to keep it upright or in a plastic bag or something if traveling.
PROS: didn't make my skin worse, smells alright
CONS: didn't improve skin in any form, bad container design, somewhat $$$

I've tried quite a few glycolic acid peels (Alpha H Liquid Gold, Dr Dennis Gross Alpha-Beta Peel pads). My skin is not sensitive by any stretch of the imagination. Yet even starting off cautious with this one, and using it once every two days, and not leaving it on for over 3 minutes, my skin gets rough and dry and flakes, and looks like it AGES — I think it's the sheer amount of alcohol in this one - 46%. It's like rubbing cheap vodka on your face — at least them you wouldn't have the foul "peach bellini" scent. The glycolic acid (10%) and salicylic acid do exfoliate a bit, but any glow that I get is counteracted by dry, crepeyness and flakiness that develops. My boyfriend suggested (as a joke) that it would be a good experiment to use it, to see what I'd look like in 20 years time. NOT funny. The jar packaging also leaks if you're not careful, so your entire skincare drawer will smell like a foul fruit.
Glycolic acid does improve your skin, but I'd suggest trying Alpha-H Liquid Gold, or Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel pads (pricier alternative), or forgoing the alcohol based formulations altogether for an AHA moisturiser.

This is a great product! I cut them in half to save money and plus I don't need more product than is on half of the pad. These pads have helped clear old acne marks and have evened out my skintone more. They also help heal popped pimples so that they don't leave a red spot/scar behind. The smell is a little strong, but I do like that it has a Peach Bellini scent to cover up the smell of glycolic acid and the alcohol/other ingredients. Surprisingly, even with a higher alcohol content, these don't dry out my face at all and actually makes my face feel smoother. Any product that has 20%+ alcohol content makes me a bit wary, especially if it's alcohol denat (I prefer cetyl alcohols/fatty alcohols as they are more beneficial to the skin) , but I'm glad I looked passed that and tried these out. I am very impressed overall and I would definitely repurchase.

Disclaimer! I've only used the pads 2 times. I haven't used them long enough to give a great and fair review, but I'm writing this up anyway because I want to give you my first impression.
First, I bought this at a Sephora store for about $40. When I got home, I realized that it had been slightly opened (probably someone wanting to test the scent). The cap had a brownish stain due to the adhesive being messed with. So, please, if you buy this or any other product in a store, look to see if it's been open. Fortunately, the pads were fine.
I washed my face with Philosophy's Purity Made Simple then used the pads. They smell like alcohol but with a slight peach scent. They burned my skin slightly and made my eyes and nose sting for a bit. Those are the only downsides.
I woke up and saw that my skin (which is pretty acne prone and sensitive) had improved. There were no new breakouts, the little bumps on my forehead improved and my skin was brighter.
I used the pads that morning. This time using Philosophy's The Great Mystery as my cleanser. The pads didn't burn as much this time around. I used a tinted moisturizer with SPF (from Philosophy) and that was it. My skin didn't need much else.
I've noticed that my skin is still oily so I've been using blotting papers (ELF's that are at Target). Other that that, I don't see any issues. Maybe one little pimple that I think I've had for a day that's just now showing up more.
I can't wait to use the pads more and hopefully they clear my skin up!
It's been about 10 days since I've started using these. I am in hot and humid weather and have been sweating (a lot). I think these pads are still doing a good job. I use them twice a day. I know they are meant to be used once a day (60=2months) but I prefer doing this twice. The biggest change is the overall clarity. I do breakout less and on top of that the pads have cleared up some of the post acne marks. I feel like I just have prettier skin in general. A bit of a glow going on. My chest and back have been breaking out (thanks to sweat) and these seem to help overnight a little. I just wish I didn't break out in the first place. I'm considering bringing them to work to touch up.
It's now been a few weeks since I started using the pads. There have been a couple of nights when I skip them or days when I only use them once. I noticed that I do get little pimples during that time. Proof that the pads are clearing up my skin. I've stopped using them on my back and chest due to a massive sunburn, but will use them once that clears up and if those areas break out more.

This product has been a life saver for me! I have combo skin with oily t zone. On top of that my skin is very picky when it comes to products and often gets angry with me in the form of brakeouts. My biggest issue has been that I have large pores on my cheeks and nose that become very congested no matter what makeup I use. I have been using these pads for 3 weeks and I'm amazed by the results. I use them once a day as they can be a bit drying and follow with a moisturizer. My pores are noticably smaller bc they are not so congested (actual pore size is genetic). I have not gotten such results with any other product. Ever! $36 for 60 pads is a great value in my book, and you can even cut them in half. I store the jar upside down so that the top pads really get soaked in the solution. I will repurchase for sure!

I got these pads from my mom as a Christmas gift. My EXTREMELY sensitive skin went crazy after I graduated college... I went from getting one small pimple around TOTM to breaking out in huge, nasty, painful cysts on my cheeks (which I swear was caused by Bare Minerals foundation). Anywho, my mom bought these for me knowing I was searching for my HG product to keep my skin clear. And let me tell you... I FOUND IT!!! I LOVE these (thanks Mom!!!). They are a Godsend. I have been using them since Christmas (so for about 1.5 months) and my skin is back to how it was in high school and college. I rarely break out, even around TOTM, and it has dramatically lightened some scars left behind by healed cysts. I cut the pads in half to make them last longer (a tip I got from one of the previous reviews) and I only use them once a day instead of twice, since my skin is sensitive. Oddly though, the max strength pads are not irritating to my skin... my mom was worried she should have bought me the sensitive ones... but these work just fine, maybe because I only use them at night. I actually like the smell of them too. If you are struggling with your skin, get these. They have been life changing for me... I don't even wear foundation to work anymore.

Purchased this item really on a whim. Have used the un-wrinkle version off and on and thought that the additional elements in this treatment might be a good thing.
Do have to say that I have only used them for just shy of a week and my skin seems to me overall just better looking. I do suffer from the occasional blemish but mostly was hoping to help some minor discolourations - and it seems to be working. Had a minor break-out - hormonal - and pads have worked wonders. Smell is not bothersome - compared to other products. It does sting on sking, however, this is temporary. My skin is very oily - so no flakiness. Unless something awful happens - giant break-out - will certainly purchase again. It does what it says it does - skin looks "fresher" even in this short period of time.

Okay let me start by saying I have the toughest skin of anyone I know. Products that other people complain about breaking them out or burning them have never had any effect on me. I completely disregard warnings about bad skin reactions because I never have had a skin reaction to anything I have ever used. Now I loved the philosophy peel pads and I had gone to the store with the intention to repurchase those but Sephora didn't have them in stock so I bought these pads instead. By reading the front label the product sounded nice. Cammomile, green tea, etc..sounds good to me and I have used lots of products with glycolic and sacylic acid so I didn't see any problem.
That night I pulled out one of the little pads and started swiping it over my face and I was immediately put off by the terrible scent. I was like "what is that God awful smell!". So I looked at the label again and then read the full ingredient list. Oh my God, 46% alcohol!? I felt duped! I don't buy these products to get cheap ingredients like alcohol and 46% ? I decided right there and then that I wouldn't be repurchasing this product and I actually felt a little angry that any company would would sell anything with that much alcohol and then try to pass it off as something good for our skin. But then it got worse because when I woke up in the morning I had several deep red patches that looked like chapped windburned skin. I looked horrible and like I said at the start I have NEVER had a bad outcome like this with any product that I have ever used. I looked horrible and it took several days to clear up. So now not only will I not be repurchasing this, I'll be tossing it in the garbage. I'm surprised that anyone likes this alcohol laden crap! It might be okay for really really oily skin but people with normal to dry skin should stay away and actually my skin leans to the oily side. I'm sorry but I just can't get over the high alcohol content. That's the main ingredient but of course they don't put that on the front label do they? If it was alcohol I was after I could have just bought a cheap bottle of rubbing alcohol at the nearest drugstore and poured that on my face. What an insult to the consumer!

Pads contain 10% glycolic and 2% salicylic acid in a alcohol base. Also had soothing chamomile and other extracts to soothe the skin. The pads are a good size and very moist. There is nothing more aggravating that having pads dry out before you get to the bottom of the container. I haves used these for a couple of years now and had a real DUH! moment when I realized these have never really done anything for my combination skin.No improvement in skin clairity, pore reduction or help with black heads. I get better results from using Booth's Botanical microdermabrasion scrub 3 times a week.

Two weeks ago, I included these complexion pads into my daily skincare routine. I was having a bad skin phase with breakouts, blackheads and some crazy sensitivity to various new products. I am content with the results so far. For me, these pads work well with certain issues and not so well with others. Here is my current break down of each concern and the result.
Acne: Exceptional - cleared some stubborn breakouts I had & is preventing new ones from reoccuring.
Acne Scaring: Exceptional - diminished the appearance of some scares I had along my jaw line.
Blackheads: Superior - absolutely amazed of how smooth my nose is now! For the first time, my nose is poreless and free from blackheads.
Pore Size: Satisfactory - okay results but my pores are still there and noticable.
Clogged Pores & Whiteheads: Adequate - my pores are less clogged on my cheeks but are still clogged on my forehead. I'm not sure if my blotting powder or hairspray is contributing to this. Also, I'm using a pore unclogging scrub that might be doing the unclogging and not this necessarily.
Exfoliation: Exceptional - when using the nubby side of the pad, it really helps with cell turnover and smooths out the skin very nicely.
Sun Damage: Poor - skin color still appears uneven and blotchy.
Wrinkles/Aging: No rating - I don't have any wrinkles at this time.
I use one pad every night. I have experienced no drying and flakiness with this product. In fact, it actually leaves my skin soft and moisturized in the am. I skip using any type of facial moisturizer in the summer due to my skin leaning more on the oily side. Even by skipping moisturizer, my skin doesn't get dry from these pads. Beware, this does burn like hell and turns the skin red once applied but it will fade after a minute. I like the scent of this - PTR calls the scent peach bellini - it's light and fruity. The price is fair ($35) considering this will last me 2 months. You get 60 pads per container.

I bought these earlier in the week at Sephora and now I think I'm going to return them :( I used them like 4 times to get rid of some minor pimples on hairline (3 around both my ears). I first noticed THE BURNING! Then after a few hours, I looked in the mirror and noticed my skin was blotchy AND peeling. I use Retin-a off and on once or twice a week (sometimes 1%), and I was hoping to use this in the AM. I've never had this kind of flaky peeling that I can slough off. Than on top of that, I broke out MORE and my fingers were dry and peeling! I even took the precaution to wash my hand after. I was only using these to clear some clogged pores... :(
I just switched back to my normal Alpha Hydrox routine, I should have never strayed! Also, I didn't even tell the difference between this $35 "advanced skincare" pad and cheaper Oxy pads! I mean; 46% ALCOHOL? And the odd part is that they say all of these ingredients are in an "advanced botanical formula"...? Alcohol= botanical, of course! :p I'll fo back to my Dr. Gross MD Skincare thank you!
My skin is combo with clogged pores on the nose. Mild acne.

Love this product. However, the application is a little scary as the product burns your skin for a good few minutes, your skin will turn red, it smells of really strong chemicals. After a couple of uses, I found the skin on my fingers peeling like crazy only realising that was because I didnt wash my hands off all the chemicals from holding the pads after using them in my night ritual! So wash your hands after each use! That said, the effects on my skin has been great, it has cleared up any breakouts I had, my pores are much much smaller, cleaner, clearer, skin feels soft and my husband likes the peach scent it leaves on my skin. I am taking one lippy off because of the discomfort involved in the application but I would repurchase because it has helped me with my skin so much!

These are awesome. I've been suffering from a bout of adult acne (menopause) and have always had a problem with clogged pores on my T-zone. And once you get past 40 it seems like any zit will create a scar. These pads are seriously a lifesaver. The clarity and tone of my skin is remarkable just after a few weeks use and my skin is almost completely clear. Scars fading as well plus my skin is softer than it's ever been. I would describe the smell as toxic covered up with peach! But it's well worth it. I use twice a day after a wash with Cetaphil. There is about 3 minutes of very mild burning - again - well worth it! I cut each pad in half in the morning so I should get about 4 months worth for $25. I got it cheap on Ebay ... I think the jar usually runs $38. This plus a good sunblock in the a.m. and a light moisturizer at night after it dries + eye cream is really working for me. Very little peeling as well. No nonsense packaging.
