I get this wonderful heavy cream, called (so attractively), "Melkfett", at a German deli chain in my city. I guess it's a human form of Bag Balm, for want of a better description. It is great for dry feet (I put it on and slip on a pair of cotton socks before bed-time) and for chapped, dry, weather-worn hands. In winter, I like using it on my face if I'm going walking in the cold or wind or if we're going skiing or hiking because it contains no water and so you don't have to worry about it damaging your face. It is a thick, heavy product with the consistency of Vaseline (but it smells way better and applies more smoothly) so it can feel greasy on your hands, which is why I apply it at night or when I don't have to be trying to turn door-knobs or handle knives! But surprisingly, while it is thick and "Vaseline-like", it doesn't break out my face or clog my pores though I do only use it in certain circumstances and at night (I think makeup would simply slide right off if you wore it in the day). My sister-in-law is a concert harpist and last year, because of a particular piece she was performing, her fingers took a huge beating. She'd tried everything - polysporin, that liquid "paint on bandaid" stuff - and still her fingers looked as though she'd grated them on a rasp (which is basically what she was doing). I gave her a tub of this cream and while it didn't heal her fingers overnight, it made a huge difference and this is now a product she is never without.

I complimented my friend on her awesome looking skin, and she told me it wasn't her skin, it was this ombra cream. i decided to try it and i get compliments about my skin all the time. it's only 8.99 for a small tub that lasts me at least 6 months,. i laugh when i realize i used to spend 40 or 50 dollars on stuff and i NEVER got compliments like i do now, from co-workers to students, to friends, everyone wonders...so i tell them it's just the cream!!! bargain of a lifetime!!! love it!!!

Ok, first I have to tell you these things:
Ever since I started using nivea, my super dry skin has become more dry-combination than extremely dry.
I needed a cream in a tube (since I bought nivea in a tub) to carry around with me in order to reapply if my skin got dry.
I found this at Honest Ed's (that's right ppl in T.O. Ed's has surprisingly good skin care) for 1.99CND and figured it was worth a shot.
Ombra is a great German Brand which makes body and face-care products. Germans rock in that department so that was a big factor in purchase.
So, what do I think? I think it's great for DRY SKIN! Note this and roll with it since this contains mineral oil as one of the top listed ingredients. It also contains chamomile to soothe your skin and comes in a formula for EXTRA PARCHED (read super extra dry) skin with vitamins A+E. Not sure how well that would work though since the only difference I saw was in the amount of mineral oil (more) and a few differences in ingredients towards the end.
It felt amazing on my skin and was easily absorbed, moisturized my face for hours with only a little applied. I think the price is great , however, note that it can cause breakouts to those of you who are oil-sensitive. I may have to discontinue using this if my skin keeps getting more oily (or stop using nivea for a while) and will not use this in the summer. However it did not break me out or cause any reactions on my skin.
Otherwise, a definite thumbs up!
