Crushed Grape is very much the same color as Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey but with much more moisture and it glides on the lips easily. The color is dark plum/grape that is suitable for daytime wear. The Colour Surge line has lighter coverage and glossier effect. Because of this, the lipstick does not stay on as long as the other lines.

Crushed Grape does not apply evenly compared to other shades I have tried. Some parts look darker than others, and the centre of my bottom lip always looks lighter so I have to re-apply to the bottom of my lip then use my finger or a lipbrush to smooth over the darker bits to blend it in.

Crushed Grape is my end-all-be-all lipstick: I have actually decided, "the search is over. I am not buying any more hit-or-miss (of course usually miss) products." I will be faithful to this lipstick as long as they make it! I am of medium-light (cool) skin tone with brown hair and eyes. No lipstick has every looked good on me! I have a whole drawer of discards, and my mom can wear ANYthing and look good.

The color is only 1 shad darker than the inside of my lip so it looks natural, but polished. Has a medium amount of shine and is not drying at all. I find the staying power to be great as long as I am not eating or drinking anything or fiddling with my lips for any reason. Usually lasts until lunchtime, but I only apply it to my top lip and then close my lips to blot it.

I love this lipstick and I hope Clinique carries it forever!

My HG lipstick! It is dark but very flattering on me. It's muted and not "out there." It's moisturizing and so smooth and silky, and while it doesn't last forever on my lips, it doesn't wear off right away, either. There is no strange smell to it; it's practically unscented. I do feel Clinique lipsticks are slightly expensive, but they're worth every penny.

I have tried two other butter shine colors, but this is the best one yet. I'm brunette with light olive skin, I look great in purple, and this color is absolutely perfect for me - very flattering. I was afraid it would be too dark but when applied with a light touch it is not at all overpowering. I had tried Perfect Plum before which looked blah on me. This color is so much better. Just wish these stayed on a little longer, and that they would change the packaging to a narrower tube.

I abslutely love this lipstick... creamy, rich and smooth. It is one of the only grape color lip products that I can say really looks good on me. While the color looks very intense in the container, it actually goes on a bit sheer and looks very polished. This grape color it not at all vulgar and can easily be worn in the office or other conservative places where one may find themselves. I must add that my lips are always wll moisturized when I am wearing this.

This is one of the few clinique lipsticks suited to my tan skin tone. It is a nice creamy berry pinky plum shade, which if overapplied can look too shiny, but with just a light layer looks awesome and gives your lips that 'crushed berry' look. THe only drawback is that this is almost TOO creamy and it does not stay put. I guess with a name like butter shine I should have known better.

This has a very soft, smooth texture and quite a bit of pigment. (see note below)....
Shade: the problem for me personally, is it could have been a bit lighter of a grape shade for me. I'm between NW15 and NW20 (I have pink undertones). This is a bit dramatic on me for my age (which is 50) and skin tone. I think on younger women it would be better. So, right now to make it work, I'm just blotting and then layering a pink over the top to lighten the look a bit.
>>>ONE MAJOR ISSUE: This gets very soft quickly, even in a powder room where no showers are taken. Due to this fact, I will have to check out the other formulations - since I don't want melting lipstick....esp. in my purse or over the summer months. Maybe it could be renamed Buttermelt.

I love the butter shines, but I hate this color. It reminds me of a gangsta' chic chola or something. Too dark, even for my color (NW35) unless you like that purpley color. Wore it with my Rimmel Snog, and it was way better...def' will not repurchase...too bad...

This was my first Buttershine and I gotta say, I totally don't get it. This particular color is a nice, cool, deep berry/wine shade that is pretty flattering on me, and goes on sheerly as I expected. But otherwise, this product just doesn't make any sense to me. I thought this would have a gel-like, smooth consistency, and be moisturizing. When I put it on, nothing about the consistency surprised me - it felt just like any other sheer lipstick that you can buy. The circumference of the barrel is just too thick, though, to be packaged in this slant top applicator. The slanted flat top is too wide to apply straight onto your lips without making a clown face. And then the weirdest thing about this is how drying it is on my lips. Whenever I wear it, my lips turn really flaky by the end of the day, even when I wear it with balm. It's a pretty product, right down to the packaging, but I doubt I'll spend $15 on this again.

I love this color!!!!! It goes on as a beautiful glossy wine color on me. It makes my teeth look whiter. The only negative is the constant reapplication. If it wasn't for that it'd be HG material.

I wanted to like this lipstick, but the color is much too dark for me. With a lot of lipsticks/glosses, the color looks darker in the tube than on one's lips. But not this color—what you see is what you get! This lipstick feels really nice on my lips—it's got a nice consistency, is very moisturizing and has no unpleasant smell or taste. I also love the classy packaging. But Crushed Grape is scary dark on me. And unfortunately, none of the other colors in the Butter Shine line seem to work with my coloring.

I went to the Clinique conter hoping to get Black Rapsberry but as they were out, ended up with this. It's very, very nice--a deep plum/purple color that looks great with my fair skin. It's going to really look great this fall. I also love the tube--it's silver and looks like bamboo and doesn't feel cheap at all.

this is a great, dramatic dark purpley lipstick, very flattering on my fairly light warm skintone. i took off a lippey b/c it does not have very good staying power, and melts very easily if it gets warm, more so than other lipsticks. but the texture and color are awesome!

I have read the great review and bought this colour. Terrible decision because it turned out Brownish on my lips. I thought it would be wine hue and without trying off the counter I ordered 1 from Strawberrynet. I have to say that the texture is beautiful. Exactly the kind I want to feel on my lips most of the time not to mention the dry winter weather...So for that I will give it a half hat off.

This has turned out to be such a great color. To tell you the truth, I first tried it on in the store as a joke. BUT I loved it!! It goes on so smooth and is the perfect color for my fair skin.

Wow, I love the buttershines. This is so smooth and shiny and lightweight. aThe color is what I wanted Nars Masai to be- a MLBB with sheer plummy sheen. Love it and can't wait to get more! BTW I am PPP with med blond hair(currently) & green eyes with Chanel Cameo(1) skin.

This is my first butter shine and it's great. It's possibly the most lightweight lipstick I've ever tried, and it feels like a balm even though this particular shade is very pigmented. It does feel dry after a few hours, but even lip glosses dry out after that amount of time, so I can't complain about the staying power. The color itself is a slightly shimmery violet, not too dark or dramatic but a nice purply shade.
