re: Waterproof Molume Riche in black.I consider myself a makeup guru esp when it comes to waterproof mascara. I am a long time contact lens wearer who works long hours and was blessed w/ greasy lids, so a great waterproof formula is a must. I've tried cheap to expensive (Max Factor Lash perfection, Maybelline great lash and lash discovery still beat out the luxury brands).
Pros: Fabulous length, volume with little effort.
Cons: slight gummy ( rather than hard/firm) consistency, can "pick" it off, did not last my 12 hr shift (whereas the above would be on even through work + night sleep), mostly (not completely) washed off in the shower, at the end of my workshift, most of mascara rubbed off and I was left with clumpy, sticky lashes. I actually checked the product and box to make sure I didn't get a nonwaterproof tube in a mislabeled box.
Overall: Beautiful application, fabulous first couple hrs, but very poor staying power. Good for someone who wants something "more" than regular formula but doesn't cut it for someone who needs a true waterproof.

Because I tend to cry at the drop of a hat, I totally need a waterproof mascara and a quality waterproof mascara is hard to come by. This volume riche in waterproof is the best one I have found. It is my HG mascara because it makes my lashes long and rich looking. I have gotten several compliments on my lashes since using it. Now, I do have long, dark lashes to begin with, so I am not sure how this would work on someone who has has fairer lashes, but I imagine it would work nicely.

The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is in my opinion you do need a lash primer before you apply it or it tends to clump. It has never flaked or smudged on me ever though. I use Clinique lash primer underneath (just a touch) and that works wonders with this mascara.

I wish I could give an "official" 3.5 lippies.

Well, I usually wear the highly-touted Dior DiorShow Waterproof mascara in black but when I ran out a few months back, I decided to try something new. This VL Volume Riche had higher ratings then as opposed to now, so that's why I took it into consideration. Just for clarity, to me, any "volumizing" mascara simply means it is a thickening formulation because it coats to increase the width of your lashes. I don't believe they are separate catagories, haha.

Anyways, I think the best word to sum up my experience with this mascara is FICKLE. Sometimes this goes on extremely smoothly and instantly thickens & darkens my lashes in one only coat, better than my DiorShow can. I do, however, ALWAYS have to use the Sonia Kashuk metal lash comb in tandem with this. Despite going on smoothly, it doesn't really separate my lashes well and a few tend to stick together. Other times I use this mascara, and no matter how I control the wand or how many coats I apply or whether or not I use the lash comb, it just doesn't look very good. It makes the tips of my lashes look very thin and brittle, although the base always appears thick and dark. It also smudges on me by the end of the day, though I don't use any type of primer before or fixative after.

I just recently re-purchased my DiorShow and compared the two "eye-by-eye" and I prefer the Dior. It really defines my individual lashes better consistently and with two coats gives the same illusion as this Volume Riche without the hassle. In terms of packaging, this tube has never broken after falling off the counter (unlike my DiorShow, see my other review) however it only contains .22oz of product versus .38oz in DiorShow for about the same price.

I think I will stick to my waterproof DiorShow and good old pink & green Maybelline (the cult favorite).

This is a lovely mascara, that makes my allready long lashes totally glam. I use it everyday, and it lasts through a day with rain and snow. The packaging is lovely, I love that it is neat and sleak. The brush is good, you can build your lashes exactly how you want to. You better work fast though!

Horrible mascara. I have so many mascara's that I could open up a store but NEVER have I encountered one this clumpy! Even my husband, who normally doesn't notice half of anything when it comes to make up, said my eyelashes looked clumpy and wondered what I had done different! That was it for me. I was grimacing at it all day but that was the final nail in the coffin for me. What a disappointment and I know how to work mascara but this mascara was just hopeless. This stuff is nothing more than an expensive clumpy mess. Yeah it's got volume all right. If you like having 5 lashes that are super thick you will love this stuff. What a God awful formula...

This is the worst clumpy, goopy, messy mascara that I have ever purchased. That includes mascaras from WalMart for $3-4, let alone the price that VL charges for this mascara! The first time I pulled the wand out the stopper came out as well, which made a mess & got mascara all over the tube & my hand. I put the stopper back in & tried to use the mascara & ended up with a couple of clumped up bunches of lashes. Even combing through the lashes didn't help. It amazes me that one mascara can have such differening reviews! This stuff came from It Sucks City!

Clumpy, smeary, and expensive. Very bad combo, and a big waste of $25.

WOW! You guys were right! One coat and my lashes look better than any of the other gazillion brands I've tried over the years. It IS worth the extra money to have something really great. Don't like the waterproof, though. I think those are all alike, poor.

I have been using this mascara for about two weeks now. I really like it. I have naturally dark, long lashes that are just not very full. This mascara gives my lashes the perfect amount of volume. It does not clump or flake and washes off easily. It's kind of expensive, but I would probably buy again.

I love this stuff, but not enough to be completely faithful to it; this means that I can't think of a mascara I've tried that I like better, but I'm holding out for something more. So I have this in black/brown and it is... black/brown! Dark enough to be confused for black, but since it's not, it looks softer and more natural. Combine this with the lush, thick lashes this mascara gives you and you're left with a sultry but slightly innocent look. I like to load this stuff on and then smudge Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in espresso all around my lash line. I don't have flaking or clumping with this, although I did need to wipe the wand off the first few times I used the mascara to avoid this. More coats seem to seperate lashes better. mmmmm

love it! HG status. i have pale, nonexistent lashes before and after I apply VL volume riche it looks like I have falsh eyelashes on. I literally stared in the mirror in shock after I used it for the first time!

doesn't flake off after long wear either. only complaint is the price tag, but it's worth it!

I tried this after being disappointed in VL's "The Curl" mascara (see review). I am very happy with this mascara. Very deep pigment. (I got black brown. Normally I buy black but Sephora was out of black and I was desperate for mascara.) Leaves your lashes full, soft and glossy. Brush is full and does a good job of separating, but could be a bit less scratchy. (I am used to YSL's silk brush in their 'Faux Cils'.) Wears well, no smudging or flaking or irritation (I am very sensitive). Removes easily with either remover or you can wash off with soap and water, with a bit more effort.. There could be a bit more product for $23 bucks. So, due to the brush being a bit scratchy and the high price for small product -- I remove a lippie. Other than that, this mascara is excellent.

i was expecting a miracle mascara based on reading the reviews below, but i did not end up with such results as described by others. this isn't bad, but not super great either. this doesn't clump, but seems to require several coats to get the look i want. this also doesn't smudge or flake. i have straight lashes that i curl beforehand, and this will SLIGHTLY pull it out but my lashes still end up semi-curled. i'll use this up but i doubt i'll buy it again.

This is one amazing mascara. I don't know how VL does it, but this mascara really makes my lashes look as though I have on falsies. No clumping, no flaking. This is a must-have for long, gorgeous lashes.

Quality-wise, this is the best mascara I've tried. I've been searching for a HG for years and I daresay this is it! My eyes are sensitive and this has caused no irritation; it lasts all day without clumping/running/flaking; most importantly - it gives the best volume ever. One coat gives me "oomph" (more than two coats of any other mascara I've tried - from CG to Lancome). Two coats gives me the totally vampy lashes I like so well. The tube is a bit small and a lot of product tends to come out on the brush, so I feel like I might be wasting it, but I'll pay any price for a fantastic product. This is IT!

I've been wanting to try a Vincent Longo mascara, I just wasn't sure which one. The review below by nicole33 mentioned a key phrase in Toniville, "looks like false eyelashes", so I had to go for it. Thank you, nicole33! :)

Unlike any mascara I've ever tried, VL Volume Riche "gets me there" in ONE coat. Yes, just one!! Two is totally like nicole's description of being like false lashes. I've never been brave enough, nor had a need, to try three! LOL! Interestingly, given the title of this one, I wouldn't have expected it to lengthen very much at all. Surprise, Volume Riche is a fiber mascara, one that lengthens AND volumizes! I've never seen a mascara like it. It's divine!!

My one complaint so far is the cheap plastic packaging. For $23, ol' Vince could have done a little better, IMHO. Mascaras don't last long as it is where I live because it's so dry. Therefore, I like to be sure I've closed them securely. Idiot me cracked the lid on my very first try. LOL! Now it's drying out even faster! On top of that, the outer part of the cap has separated from the inner hub, making it hard to unscrew from the tube. I've thrown lippies away for that offense! :P

Bad packaging aside, the mascara is wonderful!! The tube is small and compact, which lovers of short wands will appreciate. The brush is nicely bristled and perfectly sized. The formula is not too wet, not too dry. As it's dried/aged, I do notice a bit of a clumpy look to the mascara on the brush, which I've avoided translating to my eyes with an extra scrape as I remove the brush from the bottle. The fibers are easy to work with, applying just like any other mascara. I've had to comb once or twice, but that's normal . . . for me! LOL! ;)

Just one coat of Volume Riche provides length, volume, and fluttery definition. The Black is very rich, too. Not glossy, but it makes a definite and dramatic statement. Two coats are like you're headed for the runway! If you build, the mascara doesn't mind drying between coats. I don't even have to re-dip to do my lower lashes. Nor have I experienced any sagging, smearing, smudging, flaking, or breaking of the fibers.

VL Volume Riche is almost like Shu FiberXtension and L'Oreal's Voluminous somehow met, fell in love, and had a baby. LOL!! It's the best of both worlds and both ironic extremes; beautiful dramatic look, excellent performance, and crappy packaging. However, the packaging is worth the risk to have such glorious lashes. VL Volume Riche is a keeper, a grail, and a definite repurchase! :)

I'm in love with this product. I've tried every mascara out there in order to get those huge, long, thick and false looking lashes and I think I finally found what I have been looking for! This mascara totally delivers. It really gives that false eyelash look. No clumping and totally buildable. It doesn't smudge or smear or flake. I really love this one. Just awesome!
