This product is nice in theory but made my acne much, much worse. I would advise asking for a sample prior to purchasing.

I love this product. It smoothes my skin and helps heal my blemishes. I apply it on my nights out so I won't have to worry of sweating my foundation off while dancing or having to sleep with my face on bc I'm too tired at 3am to wash all my makeup off. It's great too because it creates a barrier between my skin and foundation so I don't have to worry about any new foundations I try breaking me out.

This primer did not work for me. After two days of using it I woke up with cystic acne on my cheeks. I know it's from this because it's the exact type and placement I had when using Monistat as a primer. I thought this wouldn't break me out since it's meant for acne prone skin, but I checked the ingredients and it has the same silicone ingredients as the Monistat. It also doesn't give that smooth feel that I associate with a primer. For $30 an ounce this is definitely going back.

I don't think this is a good primer for oily skin. I don't know anything about flakiness - to me this is a primer which smoothes the skin, and makes it easier for makeup application.

I love Purity & the Supernatural ABC foundation (Yes I Love the puff lol) but I have had no noticeable results with any skincare products from Philosophy & I have tried several. This was only slightly better... I don't mind the way it feels on my skin, it's thick but doesn't feel heavy to me, doesn't sit on the skin & dries down to a fairly matte finish & also leaves the skin feeling smooth. Compared to other primers I've tried this one is also less greasy feeling. All good things. What I didn't care for & why I won't repurchase is that I noticed areas that didn't look flaky before applying, did look slightly dry/flaky after and it was made worse by the powder foundation. Not a good thing. Also I didn't notice any pore minimizing, which is something I need/want and something it's supposed to do. All in all, it's better than many but not worth the price. Maybe if you don't use powder foundation this would be alright.

Pros: feel, foundation applies smoothly, not greasy, doesn't sit on the skin, didn't break me out, comes in a tube.

Cons: Price, dry/flaky appearance after application, didn't do anything for pores or lines as far as I noticed.

I was looking for a moisturizer that would be good for my acneic skin. My skin is also prone to getting dry. This moisturizer did not sink into my skin at all. It simply stayed on top of my skin and did not help moisturize at all.

I love this primer, it is really light and has a natural lavender scent. It doesn't seem to do much for my acne, either way. It doesn't ball up like the present did on me.

i don't see how this could be used as a primer because it leaves a white flaky mess wherever i apply it, which makes it unusable for day.

Thought this was great at first, but after awhile it made me break out. Noticed that my skin improved as soon as I stopped using it. Will not repurchase!

Bof. I have mixed feelings about this product. Bought this online thru Sephora. It is a great primer, and it does help with the finish of makeup. But it has to be applied at the speed of light or it ends up making this flaky mess on skin. Does not really help makeup stay put longer. Plus, I did not see much difference in my usual oiliness during the day. Would not buy again, and I am not returning this only because Sephora makes people in Canada pay to return and in the end it would cost just about as much to return. But I am definitely not buying this again.

As someone else wrote, this is exactly the same as the Present (I've noticed Philosophy duplicates a lot of things; On a Clear Day H202 is the same as part 2 of the Oxygen Peel and a lot of the 3-in-1's smell suspiciously similar). It's fairly moisturizing but not greasy, and is adequate as a primer. I don't think it made my makeup stay on any longer, but it wentn on a bit smoother. Wouldn't purchase separately, but as part of the Acne Kit it's more than worth it.

Had been an avid Proactiv user for years (before that Murad and H2o prior to that.) Although Proactiv kept the blemishes at bay ('cept for those hormonal ones) it never felt like I was nourishing my skin. In the last month I've slowly and completely switched my entire skin care regimen to Philosophy. While purity is just that, very pure and simple and works well, I tried on a clear day super wash and was much happier with the results. So I've been using purity in the evenings with when hope is not enough serum and hope in a bottle for congested skin and the super wash in the morning with HIAB and their vitamin C powder. The super wash in the morning helps keep the mid-morning shine away when used together with HIAB and their vitamin c powder. I also apply on a clear day protection cream for maximum shine control before applying make-up. Only use a little 'tho otherwise it feels too heavy. Agree that the products need to be used in conjuction with eachother to reap the most benefits. And by the way, on days when I'm feeling bold and running quick errands and I go without much make-up, using the super wash and HIAB with the vitamin c powder but skipping the protection cream still keeps the shine at bay for a while. Three lipies because I wonder if there's something out there that'll do the same thing but won't feel heavy on my skin. But I'd like to stick within one skincare line so when I run out I'll either try the present, which is said to be the same thing or repurchase. The protection cream does what it says it'll do, and the positive affirmations on each product are a nice touch.

I thought I really liked this stuff until I stopped using it and used Hope in a Jar instead. My skin actually got smoother using that instead of On a Clear Day!!

I got this in the acne kit. I've never used a primer before, so I have no real basis for comparison. If you're using the acne kit, this is a must. The H2O2 cream tends to be kind of cakey, and the serum sometimes makes my skin flake, so my makeup looks awful unless I use this stuff. However, if you're not using those products or any others with the same effects, I wouldn't waste your money. I will repurchase because I like the acne kit, but I wouldn't buy this product on its own. I've had almost-as-good results by just using moisturizer and aloe vera gel, which is much cheaper.

I don't quite understand what the person with the mermaid review was talking about...but anywhooo.. bought this from the acne kit. It does what it says, its basically a primer/corrector that has a silicone to basically keep the external enviornment shielded out and the good stuff in (i.e. the acne treatment). It settles in about 2 minutes, before applying makeup. Its not the most fabulous primer, but its purpose is to not irritate and protect so I'm cool with that .. I would definitely purchase again.

A very knowledgable friend recommended that I try The Present. When I went to purchase some, I was told that this stuff is the same as The Present. The ingredients list is word-for-word identical. It took me a while to figure out how to use this stuff properly. Now I see what the purpose is. Over moisturizer but before makeup, this stuff makes anything I apply go on a little smoother and last longer. I also notice less problem with the oily areas of my face. Applying too close to the eyes will make them sting, and it causes a slight burning sensation where there's any broken or irritated skin. While I'm not sure I'd buy this again, I can easily imagine finding out that I really like it after I run out, even though I think that for what it is, it costs way too much. **EDIT** Makes my eyes water, too. Likely it's going in the trash when I get around to spring cleaning.

Mermaid ALERT! There was an episode of Fear Factor in which the girls had to retrieve objects from the bottom of a tank that was filled with water and dead fish. When the girls emerged, they were drenched in fish scales that "glowed" in the light. That brings me back to this product. It produces the SAME effect. It is not sparkly or glittery. Rather, the coverage resembles opal-colored sequins -- cool for Halloween, but not for everyday use. IMHO, Sephora's description of the product is a big fat lie, but here it is anyway: "On A Clear Day Protection Cream was designed especially for acne prone skin. Since people with acne prone skin tend to be quite sensitive, it is imperative to use a sealant that helps keep the good treatments in and the bad elements out. This lightweight cream helps to lay down a layer of "second skin" that protects the skin while it smoothes out imperfections and fine lines. The silicone base helps condition and protect. It also contains a natural enzyme to help reduce surface breakouts." Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cyclomethicone, Behenyl Alcohol, Dimethiconol, Cetyl Dimethicone, Lysozyme, Sodium Citrate, PEG-12 Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Lavendula Augustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. ($15/1oz @ Sephora)
