I have tried to love the Color Design shadows for so long but I think they're just horrible. Since I am an avid user of Lancome cosmetics, I always get their seasonal gifts and they include a little palette in each of the gifts so I own more of these than I can count on both hands. The shadows always come in beautiful packaging and look so gorgeous in the palettes. The colours are really unique which makes me so excited every time I go to try them but it never stops me from trying them again but they NEVER swatch like they look in the palettes at all. I use them with primer potion and they never show up the same. You need to dip your brush in the shadows multiple times to get any kind of real color payoff. Even with primer these shadows don't last or look pretty which is really disappointing. I prefer shadows by Maybelline. Really awful products, do not recomment.

This sucks! I was all excited when I finally splurged on Lancome eyeshadow, thinking it would be the best of the best because of the price. I was sorely disappointed. It is better then Wet and wild, but not by much.

This eyeshadow is smudgy, it does not go on very smoothly and requires a heavy hand to blend, When applied with brushes the "Chic Mademoiselle" Colour pallet barely shows at all, the pigments are good, but do not show up nearly as much as I would hope from such an expensive product. In order to get the full effect, one must use an eyeshadow applicator instead of brushes and blend after application. Haven't tried wet, like the colours in this pallet, but overall underwhelmed by this purchase.

I have this in no 121 Classy Stiletto which has a lustrous finish. In the pan this looks like a shimmery pink shade. When swatched you can see it has more depth to it and has a taupe undertone to it. I have several other eyeshadows that look similar in the pan but swatch as pure pink. This is so much nicer and it is very soft and east to work with.
I would describe it as a satin finish with a medium amount of shimmer. It looks more glowy than shimmery on the eyelid. I have experienced no fallout during application or weartime.
The sliding package is not the sturdiest in the world but very easy to open, has a see through panel and does click shut. I've had mine 4 months now and it hasnt broken yet. Very impressed with this eyeshadow.

I've been using this eye shadow for some years now. I've tried others but always go back to this one. I use "it list" which is a matte black and "The new Black" black with sparkles. The pigments are rich and blend well. With other eye shadows I can never achieve a true smoky eye. These ones are just perfect!

I have Trendy Intense which is a seemingly dark purple. It seems pigmented in the case but is very sheer when applied. It's so sheer that you can not apply it alone; it seems to disappear when blended too much. It has an uneven application which can be irritating when some spots on your eye are a brighter purple than other parts. It goes great if a base color was applied beforehand (a gold/cream color would be good). I would never wear it alone for it is too bright for my taste; I'd have to apply a darker color for the outer edges to create a smoked look.

This product let me down a little because I expected Lancome to really deliver. I bought the color "gaze" and it was not as pigmented as I would like. It takes multiple applications to get the color to show on my eyelids. I do love the packaging, it's my favorite eye shadow package I've come across but I would likely not repurchase as I find that you can substitute this shadow with a much better one at the same price point.

I received a sample palette with 4 colours in it: Model (metallic copper), Creme Lustre (simmery dusty white), Chic (matte milk chocolate brown) and Strut (intense forest green). The colours are heavily pigmented and compliment each other really well. They should be used with a light hand because of how much pigment there is. The palette itself lasts a long time.

I have a quad with bronze, brown, blue, and champagne shadows. The shades are pretty and go well together, but the pigmentation is not nearly intense enough, so the whole looks gets watered down. The lasting power is below my standards as well, and the colors aren't exceptional enough to merit purchasing on that alone.

This is a quality product. I have this in click. It is a gorgeous color and very pigmented. It stays on all day. I never have any creasing problems with this eyeshadow. It doesn't irritate my eyelids or dry them out. It blends easily and feels smooth. The packaging is great. It is so cute. I love the slide/see through top. I've already purchased another one in this shade and can't wait to try other shades as well. I've tried A LOT of eye shadows and this is hands down one of my top five favorites. Love Love Love!

I love the packaging! its a clear top that slides to open and is compact. Also, these shadows don't break easily when they are dropped. Anyway, i love this color. I honestly was a little afraid when i bought it that it would look ridiculous like child's make up but it ended up beautiful. It looks great in the summer when i get really tan or i layer it over black to get a deeper color at night. I also think it looks great with silver or other blues. Feels super smooth and has great pigmentation

Lancome should stick to just softer, more natural colours instead of trying to make bright, funky colours. The pigments aren't rich enough and don't last long even with a primer. They're not horrible, just not worth the price.

I received a free sample quad of 4 shadows: filigree (light highlighter), guest list (dark grayish brown), kitten heel (pinky-peach iridescent), and chic (a matte, medium brown). Also purchased Bikini Golden (shimmer) separately. Kitten heel is a very pretty color, though fairly sheer. Filigree works all right as a brow bone highlighter. Chic is a nice crease color for day looks, and Guest List has a smooth, even texture unlike some of the more-crumbly/flaky browns I own. I do really like Guest List for patting over dark brown eye liner. Oh, and Bikini Golden is a nice, sheer gold shimmer ideal for summer looks. Though none of them packed the highly-pigmented punch I was hoping for, they're all decent shades.

In the future though I'll probably opt to try other brands with similar colors.

I have this in Copper Rush (metallic), and it's a pretty decent eyeshadow. It's definitely not as pigmented as MAC or Urban Decay, but somehow the "sheer-ness" is really elegant and classy. It has just the right amount pigmentation so it's easier to control and one swipe won't be overpowering. The sliding compact is really cute and easy to use. It only takes one finger to open it. As for Copper Rush, the color is shimmery but isn't glittery. Overall, it's a good and classy eyeshadow.

Lancome eye shadows are not my favorite, but they do work great. They look great in the packaging, but the color pay off doesn't do it for me sometimes if I'm doing a dramatic look. It comes on too sheer, but that's great because mostly I do a daytime look (hence the 4 lipstick rating). My favorite by far though is Luring, it does have a great payoff and it can be used as a layer for a smokey eye or a sheer coat for a daytime look. Definitely very versatile!

This review is mainly for Aspen Nights (Metallic) with some comments on Pink Veil (Sheen).

I bought the above two, along with Five Star (Metallic) and Garnet Sensation at a local outlet fragrance store during the end of the year holiday season sales for $5 each (I KNOW). I believe all four colors are Discontinued, which is why it was on sale like that (the store had a ton of Lancome stuff on sale for $5 a pop, including Juicy Tube Swirl and the Gloss pots, as well as eyeliners in colors such as Metallic green among others).

Packaging's awesome. not the box itself, but the palette that holds the shadow. It's round (as most shadows are) but instead of a flip or twist off, it actually slides upward, similar to a slider phone. Like some others reviewed, it's REALLY fun to slide it. It also makes it much cleaner/easier to use, as I can now hold the e/s in one hand and be able to open and close it, while I apply with my right hand. VERY convenient, and a fantastic design.

Pink Veil is a pale pale pink with slight silvery sheen. It makes a good base color, though I rarely use it. The one I use the most is the Aspen Night, which is a Metallic dark gray (something like a gunmetal gray with more shine) though once applied, it's not all that glittery. I've started to use it a lot recently because I realized pure black eyeliner (what i used before) is too stark for my mono lid asian eyes, so to widen my eyes (but in a less obvious way), i use the shadow as a "smudge" of my liner. I found that it also works really well for smokey eyes in conjunction with some other eyeshadows I have.

My only problem with it, is that it doesn't seem to be all that pigmented. Please note that I've never used it with a primer, and i'm not using $30 eyeshadow brushes either. I am also not a makeup professional, and only recently started using eyeshadows. But unlike the Victoria's Secret eyeshadows I bought as experimentation, which were VERY pigmented and i was able to pick up very easily with a slight dab of the brush, Aspen Night was much more difficult. I had to either twirl the brush in the shadow for a while to get any color, or as I found out, it's just easier to apply with a sponge applicator instead, as it the press on my eyelid is heavier and i was able to pick up more shadow with the rough surface of the sponge.

Staying power is superb on me. it has never so much as smeared or gave me panda eyes or anything of the sort, and I never use anything as primer (i don't use foundation or concealer, or even any sheer powder if it's just going to work). Granted please note that I do not have oily lids, not to mention i have like NO eyelid (monolid asian eyes anyone), just a big wide space between my eyes and my eyebrow.

overall, so far I wouldn't buy these at their original price just yet (though to be fair, I don't buy ANY brand at original price), but i'm totally going back to that fragrance store at year end to see if they have more (i still beat myself up for not picking up a quad palette for $10). The only color I think i woudl repurchase are slightly discounted retail price (rather than the $5 price) would be Aspen Night, as it has become my every day staple.

I recently came across these at a fragrance outlet shop, let me say I'm a die hard MAC FAN, but when I tried this e/s I was not dissapointed, I have since purchased a couple more, but my absolute favorite now is Five Star, it's a metallic purple pink, it's awesome. They have different finishes sheen, metallic, and intense, which by the way is REALLY intense! You don't need too much product, in the intense shade a little goes a LONG way.

I got the Color Design Quad in LOTUS SPLENDOR, which includes the colors INDIA SILK, SARI SHIMMER, ROYAL TIGER and EARTH.
I think it's a limited edition for the fall of 2008, so I'm not exactly sure this review is going to be useful later, but I really wanted to share the fact that I love, love, LOVE it.
The colors are absolutely stunning. The darkest, brown one is perfect for either to be used as an eye liner or to create the smoky eye effect. The other three, which range from shimmery, sheer golden brown to matte, very bright whitish pink, are perfect for highlighting either underneath the brows, the corner of the eyes, underneath the eyes, or for using as an overall color on the lids to really open up the eyes.
A truly sophisticated, perfect group of colors for any occasion.

I have this in ceil du soir. With my dark brown eye and hair and medium light skin tone, most shades of blue do not one suit me. However, this shade is stunning on me.

The problem is that this product does not stay put on the eye. I've tried three different primers and none of them have made this product last more than 4 hours.

Color is too fabulous to give up, so when I wear it I carry the shadow with me to work for a touch up.
