This absolutely ruined my skin. I used it only one, a tiny little bit on problem spots, and my entire face turned beet red and has been itchy and inflamed for several days. Beware if you have sensitive skin!!!! It is terrible and so hard to rid yourself of the effects after one use! Even if it does start working after a few uses, I wouldn't use it for that long, it's too painful! Not to mention that looking like you have horrible sunburn isn't attractive.

I bought this dupe for OXY because OXY actually worked, it was just more expensive. I should have spent more and got the real thing though. This equate version didn't have any effect on black/whiteheads or pimples. Pretty useless.

My original review is below. I used this for a week or so with no problem. I started to get very irritated burning skin from this. I also got hard to remove blackheads/whiteheads on my cheeks and chin. I switched back to OXY and overnight I look much clearer. Spend the extra buck fifty on OXY!
Original Review: HG acne medication for me! I used to use Oxy cream, until I found this little gem! $2 at walmart! It's more of an exfoliating cream than a gel. If I apply too much it does burn a little, but I slap some moisturizer on and it soothes it, and I wake up pimple free. The packaging kind of sucks because once you get to the bottom of the bottle, you have to unscrew the cap and use a qtip/finger. I still love this though!

This is a staple for me. You can spend way more on products with benzoyl peroxide, but BP is BP and there is no need to get an expensive version. My entire skin care routine is very inexpensive because I am a believer that the important thing is the active ingredient. I use a cetaphil dupe as a cleanser, witch hazel as a toner, a medicated (salicylic acid) apricot scrub to exfoliate, a light moisturizer with a sunscreen and BP as a spot treatment. I can get everything in large sizes for $10-$15. I use this product as a spot treatment at night and apply generously to affected spots -- I dot in on and pat in until no further product will absorb and then put one more dot on and leave it on top of the skin. If I have kind of a patch of acne, I'll apply to the entire area and rub it in and will usually apply 2-3 layers (until no further product will absorb). The pro is that BP applied generously works on acne; the con is that it will cause dry skin. Moisturizer and exfoliation will help, but BP dries the skin. So, I really only use on affected areas.

Okay, I haven't personally used this product (YET! I'm going to wal-mart first thing tomorrow morning!!) but I couldn't help but notice how many people complain about redness, flaking, irritation and not giving the product a fair trial. I can understand if you have gone on with it for a while, but not like one or two times. BP can be very harsh at first, causing these reactions. You need to stick it out and make sure you use a moisturizer!! That being said, after at least a month...if it's still bad then maybe throw in the towel. But after one or two tries? Nah. Try it!

I wouldn't call this a gel really. It's more of a gritty lotion. You can get "smoother" gels (they sell one in a tube for around $5), but for the price (I got it for less than two bucks), this stuff is totally worth it. I use this as a spot treatment on blemishes and also as an ingrown hair treatment. I had an ingrown hair for months and months and it just wasn't coming out. A few days with the acne gel was enough to get it out. I use this stuff at night on my acne and they will be visibly reduced by the morning. I use Cetaphil over it and have no problems with my skin being overly dry.

I have used Retin-A, Benzaclin, Differin, doxycycline and oral contraceptives and nothing worked. i used to get microdermabrasions, expensive face peels and nothing has worked.
This has worked! I have smooth skin in less than a month's time.
I apply it all over my face. It can cause my skin to dry, and I just use a moisturizer over it when needed.
I have clear skin now. I buy three bottles each time, since I don't go to Walmart often, and sometimes there isn't any on the shelves.
I live in miami, where cold weather is not a problem.

SAVED MY LIFE. Seriously. The 10% BP is amazing. So inexpensive and effective. I love it. Only use as a spot treatment and moisturize really well afterwards or your skin will dry out.

This product was simply amazing. I mean really. I used it about everyday after i washed my face and my pimples are disappearing and some are already gone. i rarely get acne but when i do, its disgusting huge cystic pimples then some regular acne around other places. i just put this on my popped cyst that left a terrible big scar and now its really disappearing. this stuff is amazing;and for under 3 dollars. i screw cap would be nice though.

I have minor acne but sometimes I just get one of those big zits that is really noticable. And this is AWESOME for getting rid of that! I put this on at night after my shower and then I put a mosturizer on after. It says on the back of the bottle that it dries out the zit. It feels a little grainy and tough to blend but once you put a mosturizer over it, it feels like there was nothing there in the first place. And I use it as a spot treatment. But if you leave it on for more than 2 minutes, it gets hard and you have to scratch it off. But when you wake up the next morning after putting it on, THE ZIT IS GONNNNNE! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I couldn't live without it!

Hello Acne cure! 10% Benzoyl Peroxide (BP) is basically a white cream that you put right onto the pimple. This is the real deal and way too strong and drying be used all over the face - this is for spot treatment only. The cream fades away so you can easily wear it under makeup without it looking weird. I then put it on again when I get back home and finally at night. Because it is so strong, it usually reduces the pimple within a few hours and makes it flush w/ the skin in around 24 hours. This is the main ingredient in many $$$$ acne medications, but you can get a tube from Walmart for $3. There is also a similar product carried by Rite Aids - just make sure the Active Ingredient is 10% Benzoyl Peroxide.

Oh my gosh, this was only $1.86 at WalMart. I was just browsing along in the skin care aisle, and I saw this in the VERY bottom. I was surprised that I never heard of this before.
I put it on instantly, and my pimple unreddens! Hooray!
Quick tip: Apply a PEA size amount, haha I did like a quarter size. Not smart.
Oh, and be careful using this during winter time, it gives you flaky dry skin.

First of all, let me be clear about this product. This product is NOT a gel. They call it a gel, but it's more of a lotion. It comes in a squeeze type bottle, which I hate. Since the formula is so watery, I can never get the right amount and it's hard to get the product out towards the end. I gave 2 lippies, because it does the job. It's 10% BP, so the medication part of the product works fine. I just dislike the formula very much. If it was an actual gel consistency, it would have been lovely but it's not. It's not only runny, but it's gritty. I can actually feel the tiny beads and it's impossible to rub into your skin. I literally have to pick them out. I do not recommend this product. Instead, I suggest you buy the tube, which is the generic version of the Clean & Clear with a few more cents. I think it's like 30-40 cents more or something and I love that one.

I couldn't find the cream so I bought the gel that costs around $3. I love this stuff! It significantly reduces the size and amount of pimples. Watch out though; it is veryvery drying so you need to moisturize like crazy afterwards or you're left with flaking skin.

I decided to buy this yesterday because I had read the good reviews on here and thought this would be worth a try! I was right, my skin cleared up right before my eyes! I have been back and forth with my mean hormones and I broke out something horrible the other day and luckily this gel dried them out without irritating, itching, or burning! This is def. a steal considering I was almost ready to see a dermatologist and it saved me and office visit and prescription $$$$!

This awful heat has been wreaking havoc with my complexion the last couple of weeks. I'm breaking out plus I've been getting heat rashes. Ugh! I've tried several OTC creams with little effect. I happened to be at Walmart and spotted this. It was only $1.86. I almost washed it off because it feels unpleasantly gritty, but when I woke up in the morning my skin was so soft and clear I almost wept. I can't believe how well this works. I mean, overnight? Craziness. And it's so cheap! So I'm going to buy a couple more bottles and use this all summer.

Benzoyl peroxide is really the only product that has been able to keep my skin under control. Occasionally I will try other things but I don't know why because nothing works as well for me. I have been using this cream at night and it helps to speed up the healing time of breakouts. The only downside is that the Equate brand really really dries my skin out, even though my skin is naturally very oily. It's unfortunate because the Equate brand is also the brand that works the best for me and consistently clears up my skin when I need it to.
Personally, I'll take dry skin over acne any day. I will never be without this stuff. I've found that it's best to store the bottle upside down because otherwise you end up shaking it and making a mess when too much comes out.

Bleh! I love BP, but 10% is too much- even for my really bad, accutane-pending acne. Even a little bit of this stuff is way too drying and irritating, it makes my skin burn. Moisturizing or trying to wash it off just makes it burn and hurt more. besides hurting and burning, it doesn't do jack for acne. The Neutrogena 2.5% BP cream is so much better, it really helps acne and blackheads and doesn't dry out skin as much or burn, it's a little more expensive but worth it.

I am a big fan of bp since it is the only thing my skin has ever responded to and I have had a long history with cystic acne. My skin is now under control and bp has a lot to do with it. I just slather this stuff all over my face, since I am used to the concentration by now, and then make sure I moisturize like crazy with Trader Joe's Midnight Summer's Cream mixed with some Aquaphor during the winter. This stuff is the cheapest bp that I have found so far and although the packaging sucks, I just cut it open down the middle when I can't squeeze it out anymore. At this price, it's definitely worth a shot for any stubborn blemishes.

I buy this when Wal-Mart is out of PERSA-GEL-10. It is a wonderful product. It never irritates my skin. It is only slightly drying, which is something tht I don't mind as I do have combination/oily skin.
It sinks in to my skin, without leaving a white cast. And, it is cheap and readily available.
