Bottom line is this too heavy for my natural type 4 coils, which is quite disappointing :(. I used it for a twist out and my hair felt greasy and perpetually wet. I did not like the way my twist out looked either, it looked wet as well. Like a jherri curl, not cute! I'm not going to trash it because of the price so I think I'm going to use it as a moisturizer rather than a styling aide. It does leave my hair feeling soft and no scalp build up which is a plus. And the ingredients are top notch. I just don't get why it looked so greasy!! I used very little on each section and my hair is super thick. It gives me okay curl definition. Nothing spectacular. Moderate hold. I just cant get passed the grease factor. I do like the thick custard consistency and other products that are similarly as thick as this work well for me but for some reason my hair doesn't love this :(
**EDIT!**
I JUST WANTED TO COME BACK AND SAY THAT THIS PRODUCT MAKES THE MOST AMAZING FACE/BODY BUTTER EVER!!!! I will say that psychologically, it weirds me out a little bit to use this on my skin because the label say its for hair but oh well mind over matter right? well this is the only thing that remedies my dry skin flakes on my cheeks which had gotten so bad prior to using this that I haven't even been wearing any make-up lately. I found that even loose powder would emphasize my dry flakes. Not any more!! I went on Qhemet's website and it states that this product can be used as a body butter. If you use the tiniest amount it melts away dry skin effortlessly. I am so stoked because I really didn't like this for my hair. I much rather prefer it for my skin so I'm so happy I have found an additional use for it. Been using it this way everyday since :)

They truly have the best products for natural heads, too bad everything was so expensive 3 years ago when I was natural. I'm not sure if the prices have gone down, but if so I'd highly recommend. Also, you can make your own products using natural ingredients, (I did), which would be much more economical and give the same results. Love the idea though. If you can afford it, knock yourself out.

It moisturizes well, but the consistency is so thick that it is very hard to spread in my hair. I am transitioning with 4b probably hair. It is quite expensive but to does last a long time.
I like a lighter moisturizer, so I won't buy again.

I live by this product. I actually ran out of the Amla Olive Heavy Cream over the holidays and thought the world had ended for me. This product works wonders on my kinky 4b 4c type hair. The only minor issue I have with Qhemet is the delivery time. So please if you anticipate using the product on a reg, try to stay stocked up.

I absolutely love this stuff. It works great on my natural (extremely dry) hair. You can use it on damp or dry hair. I find that it works well if I wet it and use it to twist my hair at night and in the morning when I untwist, my hair looks healthy and shiny and feels soft. I'm a student so I find it a bit on the expensive side, but I'd rather pay a little bit more for a product that works really well on my hair, then on the cheaper stuff that makes it feel even drier. Every time I see it in the store, I have to buy two!

I find this is too heavy for my 4a/b fine coils. I bought the sample and it lasted quite some time! In the Houston humidity this is just too much for me. My hair ends up toooo moisturized and I hate that cottony perpetually wet feel it gets. BUT I like this on my scalp. This is my HG scalp 'grease.' The Amla and MSM is wonderful for your scalp!! I just use a teeny teeny drop on my finger and massage it in. If I use too much it's too heavy. I have had itchy scalp for some years and mild eczema and this helps immensely! The Qhemet Burdock Root cream is my favorite daily all-purpose moisturizer.

So far its the best hair leave in i have used. It softened my 4a curls without making it oily and sticky, Some people say it keeps their hair soft and moisturized for days without having to use any more just spray on some water and its soft and moist again... it softens my hair awhile but by then end of the day i feel it still needs a little more moisture before i sleep. i just rub in a night treatment and its perfect in the morning. i follow on with the heavy cream in the mornings for that soft and moisturized feel.

Amazing, HG, multi-tasking hair moisturizer! I have long, thirsty 3c curly hair. I ordered the amla/ Olive and the burdock root from Qhemet so I could see what everyone was raving about. Well I am certainly impressed and a bit in love I might add. It is true, the amla olive is very heavy but you only need to use a small amount for it to be effective. I find that is is extremely moisturizing and makes my hair look and feel healthy/shiny. Ingredients are delicious and I know this will be a godsend come winter.
ETA 6/18/10: Eventually I found this cream far too heavy for my hair and can only use a tiny bit on my ends. Not enough reason for me to repurchase. The burdock is ok but I now prefer their cocoa tree detangling ghee.

My hair is 2b/M/C/ii and its dry and frizzy from flat iron and becoming coarse from gray hairs growing in. I no longer flat iron, but still have coarse hair. This product is targeted to African Americans but I am Caucasian. I do not see why it cannot work on any type hair as long as you adjust the amount. I use quite a bit in my hair as a leave in. It is the best product I have found ever for my hair. It makes my hair soft and smooth and I love how the ingredients are all natural, like olive oil, aloe, and amla, castor oil, glycerin and paraben free.
I do not care that it is packaged in a tub, but for sanitary reasons, I unscrew the top and take the amount that I need out with a q-tip.
ETA* I would store this in the refrigerator because it has no preservatives it probably does not have a very long shelf life.
**Edit 11/10/11 Four years later and I am still loving this product and I need to restock on it.

I have heard alot about this one on the message boards so I just had to try it. I'm constantly searching for products for african american relaxed hair that are made with natural ingredients. Which is hard because pretty much everything they sell in the stores contains alcohol, petroleum, and mineral oil which is absolutely horrible for your hair. So I was pleased when I tried this product. I'm not exactly in love with the smell but after a while you don't smell it anymore. It sinks into my hair & scalp very easily. Just a dab will do you, otherwise you'll definitely be greasy. I must say this has improved the condition of my hair. I do plan to purchase again unless I can find something else that tops this. Oh, 1 lippie off because I have to scoop it out, I much rather something in a bottle to squeeze. But since this is so thick a bottle really wouldn't work.

WONDERFUL! My DH has natural 3c hair that is extremely dry, brittle, hard, etc. His hair just soaked up everything I tried and it stayed brittle. This is the first product I've used that works for him. It softened his hair right up and left a beautiful sheen. He loves the results, and I love the smell! As far as I'm concerned, this cream is worth every penny!

I had such high hopes for this product line. but it does absolutely nothing for my hair. I have natural hair that is very dry at the ends. I tried every combination with this product. Heavy cream alone, heavy cream with honey balm. heavy cream with honeybush. And all I got was drier hair. Tried this on my edges and my skin started to burn. I think I am allergic to the brahmi. Be forewarned brahmmi can cause contact dermatitis in sensitive folks. I guess I'll just use the sample on my feet!

I purchased the Amla Oil and Heavy Cream at a Natural Hair Show. Not totally an impulse purchase because I heard quite a bit about the Qhemet Biologics line. I've read many reviews on natural hair care sites and naturally curly sites, but I should have looked at product versus price with more thought. I believe it was $10 for 6 oz. I use food grade coconut oil from the grocery store for added shine in my hair from time to time. It's cheap, about 40 cents an ounce, a fraction of the Amla oil and all natural.
I did appreciate the fact that the Amla Oil is unscented. I use up to six products if it's a day I wash and condition. All those scents are not going to always mix well. Having one unscented is a good idea. This product is by no means bad, it just didn't do anything that special or different to my hair to deserve a higher rating.

None of the Qhemet products work for my hair. I put off buying for awhile-guess I knew these probably wouldn't work for me. I did figure out of all of them, that this one would work since my hair likes heavy/thick products. Sticking to MyHoneyChild & Aubrey's Mandarin gel.

Mon Dieu! This is the best product for kinky/coily hair. I was a disciple of "Blue Magic/Dax" and swore by those products. But I noticed after 2 days, my hair started to smell off with pollutants sticking to my scalp like glue (no thanks to the petroleum). Also, my scalp had flakes like a Kellog's cereal despite my head feeling like a grease slick (most likely due to the enormous amounts of wax). This ritual went on for about most of my life...until I stumbled upon Qhemet Biologics. I took a chance and tried their Amla pomade. Halleluia! My scalp and my hair had never felt softer, pliable and moisturized in all my life. My hair smelled sweet and my hair/scalp were moisturized not coated. My hair didn't feel like glue or wax was poured on my head. I still continue to use the pomade and decided to try something lighter for those days I want to use creams. This is where I decided to buy the Amla heavy cream and all I can say is that I am so pleased with everything that Qhemet has come out with. My arsenal includes: Amla pomade, Amla heavy cream, honey hydration balm (awesome for my ends), henna oil (good for post-shampoo treatment and detangling) and occasioanlly use Soap of Alep on my body (I have soooo much soap I could wash a small village). Between the Alma pomade and cream, my hair has never felt or looked better and there's even new growth is shorter time frames. Will repurchase again and again.

I bought a lot of Qhemet products and I love this! I apply to my scalp and ends sort of like a leave-in. And my scalp has not flaked since, and I usually have a problem. I love the smooth, thick texture. For reference, I am black with relaxed hair that I wear both naturally ( I still have a slight wave) and straight (I love you, flat iron!)

This stuff is a godsend! I have the dryest hair in the world and the amount of softness I get from this is incredible! I use it as a leave in and as a deep treatment. The ingredients are natural and the scent isn't overpowering. I couldn't ask for more!

Great product, as usual from Qhemet. I've used this as a leave-in conditioner and as a rinse out. It also doesnt take that much (usually I need 2 oz of anything for my thick, 4a curls but I only needed about 1/2 an ounce of this stuff).

My unending gratitude to the previous poster for turning me on to this stuff. If I hadn't run across her reviews, I would never have discovered it.
Due to medication I began last year, I have been suffering from an extremely dry/reactive/sensitive scalp, which has come full circle and ended up damaging my hair badly, too.
I received my sampler pack from Qhemet 3 days ago, and the result of using those products has been nothing short of miraculous. I primarily credit that to overnight treatments with the Amla Heavy Cream (and with the Tea Tree Pomade on especially bad scalp areas). Today, I had my first good (actually, it was great!) hair day in over 2 months. (I was disgustingly happy for a Monday!) Oh, and this was also the first day that my scalp wasn't uncomfortable, itchy, and in pain for..I can't remember how long...
For anyone with special hair/scalp needs, I CANNOT recommend this stuff enough. I'm only sad the scale stopped at 5 lippies. I'd give it a zillion!
3/24/06 ETA: Now that my scalp and hair are in much better condition, since my hair is fine and easily weighed down I use this in the shower once a week mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with a lighter conditioner. Still love!
