This is a creamy dark plum/brown shade. The "amplified" formula is wonderful - super pigmented, creamy, and kind to lips. Works well with Beurre Creamstick liner. Fun for those days you want a sophisticated dark plum lip.

I actually received this in a swap. I wanted it on the strength of reviews. It sounded totally up my alley. I was right, this is almost identical to my most recent HG Fall lipstick MAC Back To Del Rio. Overtly Plum is an Amplified Cream formula and BTDR is a Lustre (my fave formula) but they are VERY similar. Overtly Plum is a browned plum with a teeny bit of red and it is very dense and creamy. BTDR is a bit less dense and a "tinge" more glossy but otherwise these look the same on me. Since BTDR is an HG i will keep both.

My friend donated about $3000 dollars worth of MAC to the theatre i work at, and as the resident makeup artist, I got first dibs on everything, haha.
This lipstick didn't jump at me like the other colors did, but when i got home I tried it on myself, and am keeping it in my personal makeup kit.
It's an AWESOME creamy natural-ish color, and I HATE natural makeup. A plum with hints of bordeaux red, it reads as a very classic color. It reminds me of a very noirish forties color actually, even though its not at all a pure red or a dark purple. Its just the perfect balance.
I have extremely warm-toned skin, although I am slightly on the paler side, C2 for reference. I like it paired with a black kajal rimmed eye, dense false lashes, some pale orange shadow on my lids (try it, its neat and not too common), and some nice gold highlights all around my eye. It really opens up a face without looking factory made or retread, but tat he same time like youre not trying too hard to be "Different".
Very nice.

A creamy medium rose with slight cool undertones in an amplified formula. On my medium pink lips and NC30ish, Stila D skin, this has a tendency to turn fuchsia on me. This is one of those shades that looks gorgeous and flattering indoors but can be garish outdoors. Like most MAC lipsticks, the color lasts longer than most other brands and wears off evenly, leaving behind a pink stain.

If you have a hard time finding reds that don't make you feel like your face is screaming, "Hey, everybody! I'm wearing RED lipstick!"- then this is the red for you. It's not too cool and not too bright and doesn't get all purple-y. It's just right. I'm a superpale redhead with blue/grey eyes and this has to be the most flattering berry lipstick I own. I love the Amplified formula, but when I sheer it out for this color to look right on me, it can get a touch dry. So I wear philosophy's "the supernatural" clear gloss over Overtly Plum, and it looks fantastic! I love that it's noticable, but still natural, you know? I believe Overtly Plum is LE (of course), so try it while you can!

I purchased Overtly Plum from the website without trying it, so when I finally received it in the mail and tried it on, I was ecstatic that it was the exact color I had been searching for for months. It is a creamy, rosy plum in amplified creme formula. It's a pretty universal color, so I ended up getting a tube for a friend who also loves it.

I have a hard time finding great lipsticks, and this is one of them. There is a wonderful MA who picked this out for me, which I never would have done myself. I usually wear browns, but this is a plummy red color which isn't too loud. The tecture is nice too; it's smooth and provides opaque color without being heavy. The MA paired this with cream o'spice l/l and VGV l/g on top which turns out to be the perfect lip - neutral without being boring.

LOVE this colour! A berry-ish colour that isn't too loud. It brightens up my whole face and I love the texture of the lipstick. It glides on really smoothly and stays for a pretty decent time. Not very good at moisturizing though and my lips aren't even very dry. But overall, one of my fave lipsticks!

If I could just make a plug for the Warms. . .I am under the impression, and I hope I am not deluded and making a fool of myself, that Overtly Plum looks lovely against my NC20/ LM Warm Ivory skin. This is a beautiful, special but not shocking color for fall/winter. The only reason I didn't give it 5 lippies is because I just got it the other day, and time will tell. . . .

ooh this is just what i was looking for! i was looking for a slightly darker lip color for winter. this is a perfect, slightly deeper plum color that doesnt look overdone one bit. i love the texture too, since it has staying power (more than lustres at least) without being drying. i agree with the review right below me that its great for cooler toned ppl

This lipstick is a beautiful pinky-plum with reddish undertones. i like the amplified texture, because it is not as drying as the frost texture, but lasts longer than lustre lipsticks. it is quite creamy, and lasts through a drink of water, which impressed me. love it!
