I will admit I have a taupe problem... and that is why I had to have this product :D
Anyway, the color of this beautiful shadow (besides being taupe) also has slight purple undertones and a beautiful silver sheen. I have been using it mostly as a base for (yep you guessed it) taupe eyeshadows, but I have also discovered it works great under purple eyeshadows.
The cream shadow is thin and blends very easily (I like to apply with fingers) and you can do a sheer layer as a base color or you can build it up to opaque color and wear it alone.
This type of color, because it has a high sheen finish, is great as an all over wash of color because the shadows created by your eye will change the color of the eyeshadow making it look like you applied 2 or even 3 colors to your eye.
I have not experienced creasing with this eyeshadow (I always wear it over primer since I have oily lids), and it provides a semi-sticky base for shadows to adhere to (micro glitter from powder eyeshadow does not fall-out when applied over this).
I would like to point out that even though the tube may seem small it has a lot of product (8.5 grams) when compared to other cream shadows, so even though the price is high it is actually cheaper by weight than a lot of other cream shadows.

I knew about this product for awhile and sort of kept it in the back of my mind. After I saw it being used I decided that I needed to try Alloy. It's a chameleon color. I think it changes on certain people and combined with whatever shadow you use with it. It appears to be a taupe, but there are bronze and purple base tones in it with a metallic sheen over the top. So it reflects light while also absorbing it. You can easily create depth or a smoky eye, and it feels nice on your eyes. Not heavy or oily, and it never creases for me without a primer. Alloy is the best shade to start with. I know Rose Gold is popular, but not everyone can pull it off. Burnished Copper is a red bronze that contrasts beautifully with green eyes. Even though the tube is small, it takes a long time to use one up.

I've had my tube of Alloy for 3 years now and it hasn't shown any signs of turning bad or running out. I wish these LM creme eye colors in the tube came in more colors and also in non-metallic colors because they are fabulous. Alloy and Gold are my two absolute favorites and I wear them nearly every day. I LOVE not having to dig into a pot or swipe a wand on my eyelids. The consistency of this shadow is very light and application is super easy. I just apply with my fingers and blend out. I like to wear Alloy under my powder eyeshadows. Not only does it make my shadow last longer but it also gives me more of an intense application. I always wear Alloy over a primer so I can't say if it's creaseless on its own, but I imagine that it must be for those without oily eyelids since it dries to a very nice satiny finish and is not sticky or greasy at all.

In creme shadow land, this is the Queen Bee. There are several other brands that do a decent creme shadow - NARS, BB, MAC, Benefit all come to mind. However, each of those brands have their issues. Some crease, some are too dry and hard to work with or blend. Not LM, the formula is light and creamy and goes on with a swipe of a finger. The application is effortless - you don't even need a brush. Yes, the tube looks small, but there is a ton of product there. If you used it everyday, I doubt you would run out in a year. The shade Alloy is perfection - a taupe with a lovely subtle sheen. If you are in the market for a new creme eyeshadow in taupe, give this one a try.

I love all of the creme eye shadow from this line of metallics and Laura Mercier is just a great brand. The consistency of these shadows, to a one, is smooth an easy to apply and work with. They can be used alone and applied quickly or used with other shadows to create any variation of a look you would want. Highly recommend.

This is hands-down the best, most flattering cream shadow there is. I always get compliments. The shimmer is nice & it doesn't irritate my eyes, like many other shimmer shadows do. I use it with a cream eye shadow brush & a little mascara & it looks just great, really brightens up your eyes.

The price of this eye shadow was what put me off 1 year ago when I first looked at it and considered buying it. I thought "well, there are so many other creamy eye shadows, I'll get a slightly cheaper one first".
In the meantime, I spent probably 5x as much looking for the perfect shade and consistency, never found it. So I went back to the LM counter and decided to give this one a go.
What a fantastic product. Stays on all day, never creases. Applies like a dream.
I love creamy eye shadows - they are so easy to apply, there is no fallout and the look is very modern. However - in most cases, only the matt shades look good on me. I am very skeptic when it comes to metallic/shimmery cream eye shadows - because for whatever reason, most of them just don't look good on my lids. Tested on the back of my hand, they look great but once they are on my lids, they usually look patchy. I had this problem especially with MAC paint pots, I guess they aren't creamy enough for me.
So before I bought this one, I tested it out by applying it directly to my lids with a synthetic brush. I was amazed - the consistency was exactly what I hoped it to be, it looked smooth and even on my eyelids, the shimmer was subtle and the effect was just the way other reviewers described it - polished, elegant and sophisticated. As for the color, I usually stay away from any eyeshadows with any hint of purple (they tend to make me look sick) so I thought this one would not be for me (I initially intended to buy Gold or Burnished Copper) but Alloy won with all the other shades I tested. Looks great with my blue eyes and pale skin, it also looks great on my friend whose eyes are green/hazel and who is more tanned than me.
Long story short, this is one of my best purchases in my make-up bag.

A gorgeous mauve/ taupe cream shadow that DOESN'T crease!!!. It has a metallic finish, but it isn't over the top, it looks very sophisticated and can be worn during the day if sheered out. I love the way this compliments my blue eyes, it's very pretty and wears beautifully on me for a good 8 hours. A very expensive little tube, but a tiny amount covers both eyes so it will last and last. Very impressed with this product from Laura Mercier.

This is amazing. I've tried other cream shadows (BB, MAC and a few others that I can't remember) and I think this is the best of the bunch.
The color is great--it's a shimmery light taupe that gives me a more polished, yet understated look. It's great on its own or underneath other shadows. The shimmer isn't even close to OTT and the metallic finish is truly metallic without being too shiny.
The formula is great too. I applied it over LORAC Behind the Scenes primer at 5 am and at 8 pm it's still going strong without creasing. It's *slightly* faded, but definitely still noticeable and still gorgeous. I'm impressed, because no cream shadow has ever lasted as long as this does--most eye shadows are no match for my oily eyelids.
I highly recommend this. My only teeny complaint is that I'd love to see more colors in the Metallic Cream Eye Color line--maybe something more silver toned.

This is very nice. The color is a beautiful twinkly taupe that I bet would look great on every eye color (i have dark brown eyes). It has a soft, silky, creamy texture, and a little goes a long way. I think this little tube will last me a while even though I am planning to use this as my every day eyeshadow. It looks just beautiful on my lids. I am planning to repurchase. I am now curious in the rose gold color as well. Why did I not try this sooner?? I do wish they would make a set of all of these in mini tubes for those of those who are indecisive, or interested in trying all the shades............

Tiny amount for money but I'm really enjoying product. Great alone but I purchased specifically to wear as a base under Too Faced's Naked Eye palette and it's smashing and performs like a dream. Smooth application and long lasting. I probably would purchase again but only with a significant coup., gc or from Ebay. Most single eyeshadows are hugely overpriced but I contribute to this problem too since I'm foolish enough to buy it. It's very nice though..

I first discovered the metallic creme eye colour watching the Pixiwoo Nicole Sherzinger make up tutorial, they used burnished copper. So off I went to get burnished copper but instead came home with alloy. I am a NW20 with blue eyes and this makes my eyes look really blue. I wear it applied with my finger during the day and with a brush for a stronger look. It really lasts and the finish is lovely. I will definately be purchasing burnished copper next.
On the whole, I am never disappointed with LM.

Alloy is a lovely metallic taupe that is slightly cool in tone. It's an incredibly versatile product in that you can wear alone or layer other colors over it. (I have actually layered the very dark Deep Night power e/s from LM over this shade on my lid, very very lightly so that it creates a steely light blue look. Then I apply a tiny bit more Alloy over it. I constantly get compliments on this smoky eye look. I wear this over Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance. I recommend a primer under this if you have oily lids. I also own this shadow in Gold, and that one too is awesome.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love this LM formulation...creamy, yet it stays put, sheer, but you can easily build the color, & sexy, but it's very wearable day into evening. Alloy is a beautiful neutral taupe with very fine micro-shimmer. Don't be put off by the word "metallic" in its name. It simply has a pearly sheen that lights up your eyes. I own 3 other colors in this formula, & they are all gorgeous. Just buy this...seriously.

Laura Mercier out performs herself on creme eye shadow that provides a beautiful, glove velvet, performance. Despite my oily eyelids, it lasts for hours. I layer it on top of Urban Decay's Primer Potion for stick-sure dependability. The tube is appropriate and easy for application, as well as hygienic.

I absolutely LOVE LM Metallic Cream shadows, and Alloy is probably one of my most used! The color is perfect-o on my brown eyes and MMM skintone. It's a shimmery metallic taupe with a silver sheen, and works as a great base for my typical smokey eye. The consistency, texture and blending is amazing on these. It wears amazingly well, and serves as an outstanding base, and works equally well as a stand alone with just eyeliner and mascara. HUGE raves on this!! One I reach for often, and will undoubtedly finish!!

I was quite hesitant buying eyeshadow in a tube. But this is a perfect addition to my collection. After having mostly pinkish and green colors, this taupe wears nicely without being too dark or too nude. However, I hate applying with my fingers, so I use a MAC brush and the result is wow, Lasts all day without creasing. Always use a base first.
But I won't buy again, as this tube will last me for ages.

This is a lovely product! Alloy is a shimmery neutral taupey silvery grey on my medium yellow undertoned skin. It has tons of shimmer, but it's nice and soft so it doesn't look *too metallic* or frosty. Easy to apply and blend and nicely pigmented. You only need just a little bit of product. Squeeze a tiny bit to the back of your hand, use the tip of your finger to sorta spread it around a bit to thin it out and warm it up before you pat and blend it onto your eye lid. Alternately, you can use a brush--MAC 242 is a nice one to use to sorta paint the color onto your lid.

I've been looking for a great taupe cream shadow for a long time, and I think I've found my HG! It'd say it's fairly neutral, but cool enough to compliment my NW20 skin. It's got quite a bit of shimmer (but no glitter), so I always apply very, very lightly and then build slowly. The packaging is great because the hole is so tiny, so it'd be tough to squeeze too much out. It's pretty long-lasting, especially with a base. If I want to increase the staying powder (or cut down on shimmer if I applied too much), I'll do a light wash with a translucent powder. I'd definitely repurchase this item!

First of all, I am so happy to have found this since I was looking for a replacement for the (now-discontinued) MAC paint in Shimma. This color is as close as I've found. Shimma is a little more silvery, but they are nearly identical. The color is beautiful. I only rated it a 4, though, because it fades and creases slightly during the day. MAC paints never fade or crease on me. The packaging is great, though. The tube allows you to squeeze small amounts of product out without overdoing it. MAC paints always ooze out on me. And the silvery tube is very sleek-looking. I would buy this again since it's similar to Shimma, but I will most likely have to wear a base under it so it doesn't crease (I never have to wear a base with MAC paints).
