NOTE: I believe the updated name for this product is: Blotting Powder (that's what I'm writing my review for).
When I first applied this powder it seemed to work well (and the lightest color was perfect for my fair yellow-toned skin). HOWEVER, literally within 20 minutes my oil started to break through. I had to blot my face double the amount I normally do throughout the day. I tried using different powder brushes for application, but the result was the same. I returned it to Sephora after a week of use. I like that this is portable and the packaging is designed well, but the performance was not good. Maybe for some it will control oil, but not for my oil-slick skin. :( The best natural oil-control powder I have found so far is Jane Iredale's Pure Matte Finish powder...it's more expensive and less portable (compact is heavy), but performs well above Cover Fx.

The packaging is very cute and small. I like to have powder compacts with me at all times during school hours so I am able to keep this in my pocket.
I returned this piece of crap after two days of having it sitting in my room. I have really oily skin and this doesn't control oil for very long and the main reason I hated this powder so much is because it oxidizes! After a few hours my nose turned completely orange and I will not walk around looking like a oompa loompa. My boyfriend was even making fun of me from this problem.
Never buying this again I don't like the orange face. A better product is the MAC Blot Powder because it's completely translucent even if they have it in different colors, and it keeps me oil free for up to 4 hours after every touch up. As much as I love Cover FX's Concealer, their powder did not do it for me.

I use this as a setting powder after buffing in my MUFE foundation.
It does a good job - doesn't make me look cakey and keeps me oil free for a few hours. I don't take this along with me to blot throughout the day (I use blotting sheets for that)
It's a good price for what it is considering it's a high end brand. I'm on my 3rd compact and it does last for a fairly long time (the way I'm using it at least)
For those who complain about the powder becoming hard - if you're using this throughout the day and dipping the sponge back onto the product over and over that's the problem. You're sealing the product with a layer of oil from your skin. All you have to do is scratch off a bit from the top and you can still use it! I hope that helps :>

Ive only used this product a couple times because I'm scare it's going to break me out. But when I have used it I havnt experienced any breakouts. My only downfall is the colors they offer. I got the dark but I think it's too dark for me, so I have to use it very lightly and blend it in very well, but the medium I know will be too light for me. So far I like it.......EDIT....THIS STUFF SUCKS!!!! The powder gets hard and u can't get anything out...idk wtf I was thinking buying this crap. Will never repurchase again!!!!!

I've been eyeing this at Sephora for a while now, & I finally decided to buy this. The first time I used this powder, I didn't like the way my makeup looked because I used the applicator sponge this came with. The sponge is very rough & doesn't apply the powder evenly. I decided to give this another chance before returning it back to Sephora, so I used a brush to apply this after putting on my liquid foundation. WOW, what a difference. This worked/looked so much better by using a brush to apply this. DO NOT use the sponge this comes with, or your makeup will look blotchy, patchy, & extremely cakey. With a brush, this powder looks so natural, doesn't change the color of my makeup, doesn't look cakey, applies evenly, & it controls oil VERY well. I was quite surprised by the results, but pleased at the same time. I have to say, I'm not an extremely oily skinned person (I usually have normal-dry skin), so this may not work as well for people with extremely oily skin. For my every once in a while oily forehead on my bad days, this works exceptionally well. I don't even have to reapply because this lasts all day long for me. I tested this out by using it at 8am before I started work, & this lasted throughout my whole work day (which ended around 6pm). This basically lasted until I washed my face at the end of the night. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked in the mirror after work. This is pretty expensive, I believe around $24-$28. But, I'm willing to pay for anything IF IT'S WORTH THE PRICE...& this was very worth it for me. I got this in the color Medium, & this actually (for the most part), did not change the way my makeup looked. I would definitely buy this again, but I will make sure to throw away the sponge next time.
**UPDATE:** I've been using Mac Blot, & I like it way better than this powder. After a while, I noticed this powder started to make me look orange. Mac Blot doesn't, which is why I chose it over this powder. I will not be buying this one again.

This product was one of the better oil absorbing powders I have used. Definitely not my HG. Then again, I don't have an HG.
I'll probably keep using this until I find what I am looking for.
The powder would probably be great for someone with average oily skin but definitely not for my out-of-control oil problem.
Also, I have giant pores and this seemed to magnify them. A fact I was willing to overlook because I thought the mattifying power was one of the best ones I have used.

Probably the best mattifying powder I've used so far, but not quite an HG product. I have problems with shine on my nose/forehead area, so I thought I'd give this a try. It definitely does an amazing job of mattifying the skin right off the bat (probably better than any other powder out there), but the matte effect only lasts for about an hour on me before I find I have to reapply. Still, if you don't mind reapplying consider trying this out.

i like it! i use it over cliniques acne solutions liquid foundation. this powder is a good setting powder. i only have oil in my nose and a little on my forehead, but the nose gets much more oily. i like this powder because it does controil oil, but not all day. i need to touch up every two hours or so, but thats okay since its only my nose. the packaging looks nice but feels cheap and almost empty. its a little bit difficult to open. also you might need to buff your brush into the compact because its sort of hard to get alot of product. thats the only complaint, but overall this powder is amazing.

This is a great invisible oil controller, with a finely milled texture when placed on skin. Great to be used on bare skin for lightly balancing out shine and minor discolouration.
I do find the product to be super densely pressed which can make it difficult to pick up product. However, a light scraping with a stiff brush could easily pick up product. A grinding mechanism (ala Smashbox's Halo Perfecting Powder) would be ideal!

Great for oily skin! For touch ups during the day this is my HG product. I use a thick bristle kabuki to apply it, though, I find it gets more powder out of it. Leaves me oil free and ready to go another few hours before needing a quick re-application. Doesn't feel heavy at all or change the way my makeup looks.

Does just what it says it will do - mattify your face without adding any colour, coverage and as a result, no unattractive cakey build-up. When I first started to buy this (years ago, when Cover FX first launched in Canada), there were only 2 colours - light and dark - and neither of these was sufficient for anyone who fell in the middle (the light shade could look chalky even though it doesn't really add "coverage").
Simply an excellent product for hot weather or for blotting your T-zone. Packaging is crappy - nothing but a cheap cello disc to separate the puff from the product. The instructions used to say that if you lost the disc, just turn the puff upside down. How stupid is that? With all the great packaging options out there, could they not come up with something better?

While I love other Cover Fx products this one disappointed me. When I purchased it at murale they suggested using it as a primer. When used under my makeup it didn't seem to have any effect. I have also tried it as a blotting powder but it was not as good as others on the market.

This product does what it claims. It controls oil without adding color. Its very light and does not cake or cause any buildup. I apply with a brush in my t-zone to control my oilies througout the day and it works wonderfully. Very glad I tried this!

This is what I have been looking for in a blot powder! I apply it when my face starts looking shiny and (unlike MAC blot powder) it continues to control oil hours after application. It offers no coverage at all but that's fine---it definitely controls oil just as it says it will!

I love this product! It matches my skin perfectly and feels like I am not wearing any makeup at all. It hasn't oxidized on my oily skin and has not aggravated my acne flare up. It doesn't contain bismuth which I have an allergic reaction to which is why I chose this as my HG!
Edit: It looked so flat and eventually felt heave, like MAC Studio Fix Powder. Took off a lippie.

This powder is like real life photoshop. I by no means have perfect skin, but after I put on foundation and concealer, I swipe this over to "set" everything and it looks like I airbrushed my face. It works really well at keeping oil at bay and I rarely have to blot my face when I wear this. Really love this and will repurchase. It never looks cakey and doesn't cause foundation to separate on the skin like some other powders can.

I got this powder at sephora last week. I wanted light to medium coverage and some thing that would not break out my skin. So the cosmetic consultant recomended this brand. I was using Aveda powder before but wanted to try something new. This powder is great. It covers my skin with out having to use barely any product. A little goes a long way. My skin is not irritated by the product at all. I would recomend it to everyone. I have combonination skin and I am very oily in my T-zone. This powder lasted all day with no shine. I will be repurchasing it again when I run out. Definatley worth the money.

I promised I'd do a review on this powder once I started using this... All I can say is WOW! What a powder! I was using the Mac Blot powder but wanted to try something new cuz I tend to go through it quite quickly. I then bought E.L. Double Wear loose mineral powder & loved how it loved @ first but then hated how it left my skin looking like an oil slick 3 hours later. I also tried the E.L. Double Matte powder but found that I couldn't wear that one either cuz it ridiculously emphasized my pores. I also tried the MAC MSFN but found that it oxidized on me throughout the day.
I happened to be in Sephora last week & told the S.A. that I needed a new setting powder for my liquid foundation. I told her of my skin concerns & she suggested this product. LOVELY! It is a few dollars more than the MAC Blot but I noticed that I only need a a little bit. I don't have to pile it on like I did with the MAC Blot in order to achieve the same effect. This is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased it in Medium. I now only have to blot my nose with rice paper after bout 5 hours now instead of my entire face every 3 hours. My face also feels so fresh & clean, not like I have a heavy grease mask on. Also, this powder does not emphasize skin imperfecrtions such as large pores & fine lines like some other powders can. If you like Mac Blot powder, then I believe that you will really appreciate this powder. I feel that I can go longer without blotting & use less product with this powder. In the long run, I feel that it will save me money. I am also acne prone & this did not break me out @ all!! Oily skinned girls should definitely check this out @ their local Sephora.

This is a great setting powder. I don't apply this as Cover FX suggests (they suggest you use it as a blotter before applying mineral foundation on top). Instead, I use it to set my liquid foundation.
There are 2 things I absolutely love about this product: 1) Matte but super natural finish that lasts most of the day (better than most powders anyway) 2) It really is transluscent! I have fair skin and use the light shade. It does not appear to add any colour at all and it doesn't look white or cakey.
I really do prefer liquid foundations, but having oily skin, there is no way I could last a day without setting my makeup with powder. Also, because finding a shade of foundation is so tricky, the last thing I want is to add more colour or change the overall effect of my makeup by applying a powder over top! This product meets these needs perfectly.
Cons: The price. A little expensive. Also, I know this is a pressed powder, but it takes quite a bit of effort to pick up a decent amout with a brush! Other than that, if you are an oily skin looking for a transluscent setting powder, give this one a try!

This is my first experience with blotting powders and I am hooked! I used this with MAC matte primer (although any matte primer would work). Before i would use powder constantly to absorb the excess oil, which ended up with my face becoming cakey. This does set a very small amount of colour onto my skin, which is barely noticable. It keeps makeup looking fresh throughout the day. The price was quite expensive for how long it seems to last, but I get it with my shoppers points. I had read in another review that the sponge it comes with isnt very good, which is true. I too picked up another sponge to apply with. Overall, would buy again.
