My dissapointment when I spent £12 on this, got it home and realised I have the same colour (an almost exact dupe of this) in my "Whats Nude" eyeshadow palette by soap and glory which was only £10 and came with 3 other shadows. :(
Aw well. This shadow is soooo pretty in the pan. Its grey/silver with a purple sheen with a tiny bit of brown. (Though I wouldn't class it as brown and wouldn't use it with brown shadows really) Its basically a true taupe with a purple undertone.
I usually put in the crease with whatever lid colour I'm using, the good thing is it works with everything and adds just enough definition without making you look like you're ready to go out on the town (it can achieve that too if thats what your after!) Sadly when I wear it all over the lid, it still looks a bit sheer no matter how much I try to build it. You can still see my eyelid. Also the purple is less evident and looks a bit muddier.
This isn't anything that special, but at least its useful. As you can see with what happened, its easily duped.

I love this color. It is one of my favorite mac eye shadow colors. I am fairly light for being hispanic but this color works perfect with my skin tone.

It was my first MAC eyeshadow and I really love it! The color is very different and unique, sometimes when I'm on a rush I just wear it and put some eyeliner and my eyes are done! I really recommend it!

This color is so beautiful. It's a shimmery neutral color with plumy undertone into it. Very easy to blend. I always get the complement when I wear this eyeshadow.

I have had this shade for ages, way before all the hype online. I revisited my pan after all the rave reviews about it...I honestly think its an average shade. It is pigmented, blends well, great for smokey eyes but in my opinion there are other taupes out there that I prefer to this one personally.

Love this! The most gorgeous shade. It doesn't crease, even without primer, and it's so easy to blend! I always get compliments wearing this eye shadow! Definitely a must-have eye shadow.

I've been wanting to buy this shadow for a while now and everytime I went into MAC it would be sold out. Which I guess is a good thing because it means it's very well loved and it's well loved for a damn good reason. It is a gorgeous sparkly taupe colour that has a buttery application, it's absolutely beautiful. I'm an NC25 and have medium brown eyes and it just makes them POP. I paired this shadow all over the lid with MAC's haux in the crease, or you could use a black colour or a dark brown as well. It all depends on how dramatically you want to wear this shadow.
I'm assuming if you have lighter skin this might be too dark of a colour for everyday but it'd be a super sexy look at night time. I am so glad I got this shadow, I have been using it everyday since I purchased it and I'm in love. It kind of looks like Hustle by Urban Decay, but Satin Taupe has a more purple undertone and the UD one is a more grey undertone to it. I think Satin Taupe is a way more flattering and feminine colour. I would definitely reccomend this shadow to anyone, especially if you're looking for something for daytime that has a little oomph or a gorgeous shadow to use at night time.

This is my first MAC purchase. For years, I had been searching for an eyeshadow to replace Covergirl's Tapestry Taupe eyeshadow. I found what I was looking for in MAC's Satin Taupe. It's a soft, neutral brown shade with a suble hint of shimmer. I applied it with a sponge-tip applicator and it blended across my eyelids beautifully. My only complaint is that I was expecting for the container to be a little larger than it was.

The interesting thing about this product is I feel like there's a lot of hype around this eyeshadow. For me, it didn't live up to this hype. The crease color was no where that I wanted it to be.
Satin Taupe is not a must-have for me. Generally overrated in my opinion.
Take care you choose colors that match you personally instead of buying a hyped product just for the hype (like I did with satin taupe 2 years ago. Wasn't worth the money in my opinion.

I, like many others, have had a great experience using Satin Taupe. I'm happy to say that on my NW10 skin it actually applies just as it looks in the pan. I have grey-blue eyes and this cool shade complements them nicely. Lately I've been applying it all over the lid and then patting my Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow - Black Pearl on top, which adds a gorgeous sparkle that I can *just* get away with for daytime. I encourage everyone to try Satin Taupe, IMO it's one of those shades that can look flattering on everybody. :)

I feel very foolish writing a positive review about Satin Taupe, considering that I've railed against it for years. When I first tried this eye shadow in the late 90's, I remember it looking horrific on me. I remember it looking like a bronzy mess with a red undertone that made my eyes look tired and bruised. I was so disappointed because it looked fab on everyone else.
Over the weekend, I was at the MAC counter looking for a new neutral look and the MAC MA used Satin Taupe with Vapour (which I already own) on me, and the combination was stunning. She used it lightly on my lid and heavier in my crease, and I couldn't believe how glorious this looked. At first, I thought that it was a mistake and that she used a different shadow, but it was indeed Satin Taupe. It is a gorgeous plummy-brown taupe; basically what I've been looking for all along. I see no red nor bronze.
I'm kicking myself for not having given this another chance years ago. I don't know if maybe I had originally tried a different shadow similar to Satin Taupe or what, but I've been so wrong, and now I gladly stand corrected. This is a "frost," but it's just a little shimmery and it isn't over the top.

This is a gorgeous taupe shade. I love it in the crease because it adds dimension to the eyes. The texture is very soft and the pigmentation is awesome. Not much fallout either. I think this is my favorite MAC eyeshadow because I have not been able to find a dupe that has the dimension or texture of this shade. Love it and would repurchase!

This is my favorite eyeshadow to wear when I go out besides for urban decays YDK, I pretty much switch up the two or blend them. Satin Taupe is amazing for blue eyes (or any eye color for that matter), perfect amount of shimmer. I dont think its too dark either!

I had been very interested in this shade for quite a while because of all the hype, but was disappointed when I first played around with it. I wasn't able to really make this shadow work on my NC20 complexion. It turned more purple than taupe, and looked kind of ashy too. However, I find that placing a lighter, cooler shade (like Naked Lunch) helps bring out the taupe in the shadow rather than the purple and I quite like it that way. Also, definitely one of the better formulated MAC shadows; pigmented, buttery, and smooth.
On a seperate note, I tried using this to contour my face as it looked quite similar to Chanel Notorious (just more shimmery and purple)and... It worked! I was expecting a major fail as this has quite a bit of shimmer, but a teeny tiny bit went a long way. Really helped chisel my face and looked natural too. I could not detect any shimmer on my face either. If you are cool-toned (and not too pale) try it out!

Love at first swipe! What I can say about this that hasn't already been said: I was on the fence with it for a long time. I thought it may be too cool for my fair, warm skin tone but gladly I was wrong! This leans towards a taupey plummy shade on me which I absolutely love. WnW Nutty is definitely NOT a dupe for me! Nutty is much cooler for me. Mine was very smooth and pigmented and it's a great lid or crease shade. I'm so happy I caved and bought this as it's quickly becoming a favorite!

This is my favorite eyeshadow of all time! (and my first ever MAC eyeshadow purchase!) I use it for my crease, for the lid and for blending out harsh lines! Love the color pigmentation, stays on my lids all day and it's the perfect neutral shade with a little bit of umph to give my eyes that glow effect when the light hits it. If there was only one eyeshadow I was allowed to wear for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Such a lovely color, which obviously gets the love it deserves. Satin Taupe is a plummy taupe that I believe is a satin (I guess that makes sense, considering the name!), and just has a subtle hint of shimmer. I think this may be on of those universal eyeshadows that just looks good on everyone. It looks fantastic with my features - very striking and makes the blues in my eyes enhanced. I love the smooth and buttery pigmentation, and how true to color it is. For me, it is a little dramatic for daytime, but is perfectly sexy to come out at night!
